‘Habagat’ to affect parts of western Philippines this long weekend

The southwest monsoon (habagat) may bring rains and thunderstorms to some areas, particularly the western parts of the country, during the long weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its weather outlook for Aug. 23 to 30.

00:00This morning, we expect to see heavy rainfall in southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao due to the convergence of winds.
00:08This morning, we expect to see an easterly effect in the eastern section of Luzon and Visayas.
00:12Eventually, by the afternoon and until the long weekend,
00:16the southwest monsoon will return and it will continue to rain in southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
