After record-breaking overnight lows this week, temperatures are set to soar back into the 80s and even 90s in parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

00:00Tonight's top story begins in the northeast where the wild weather ride experience this week continues.
00:04Millions woke up to another taste of fall this morning with some unseasonably cool air in some areas.
00:10And the good news tonight is more seasonable conditions return as we head into the weekend.
00:15Some areas could even flirt with 90 degrees coming up in the coming days.
00:19We're also keeping tabs on those thunderstorms in Florida. More on them in just a minute.
00:25But some of these scenes here have been beautiful with these wave-like ripples of clouds and fog.
00:32Isn't that cool there? Some gravity waves influential sometimes in some maybe not so obvious movements of fog and low clouds and so forth.
00:42That's really, really neat. Here we have the view in Washington, D.C. for our top story.
00:46A spectacular scene. It's only 77. This is a nice September day here in the month of August.
00:53And it's beautiful out there. So the reflecting pool there looking still.
00:57We don't have much wind. And in D.C., more sunshine than clouds.
01:01On radar, we do have some concerns of rain and some thunderstorms up into parts of Maine.
01:06This is where most of the thunderstorms have been sequestered here as our upper level low pressure system is still spinning near and east of Quebec.
01:14That's on a trajectory to continue to move and wander east for tomorrow.
01:18But until it totally leaves, we'll still have some showers in Maine.
01:21And at times, northern New York State and up into parts of Vermont and New Hampshire.
01:24They're really few and far between, though. Boston, Albany, you're done with any of that.
01:28Even Manchester, I don't think you're going to see another shower or thunderstorm.
01:31Rutland, Vermont, probably even done there.
01:33But once you get up to the north, up near Montpelier or Plattsburgh or Burlington, a couple of showers, especially on the west-facing slopes of some of the mountains.
01:41So most of us are dry here through Saturday. And again, the showers are few and far between.
01:45So a lot of yellow on our dry stretch map here showing that Maine is really the only area holding on to much of a chance for showers and storms moving forward.
01:54And Friday, they're really limited. So most of us dry, comfortable weather winning out here.
01:59Seventies for a lot of us by Saturday, we sneak back into the low to mid 80s for more and more of the northeast.
02:05And high pressure is going to be gradually pulling east with the clockwise flow.
02:09When that moves east, it becomes a bit of a heat pump.
02:12So Sunday, we're back up to 85 in Pittsburgh and New York.
02:16And we'll see a mix of sunshine and clouds. The humidity is still not going to be unbearable.
02:21But mid 80s return Sunday. And until then, we just slowly creep back into the low to mid 80s.
02:28Richmond, 86. Charlotte, 87. A little hot in Atlanta, 91.
02:32Farther southwest, we're going to be dealing with more heat in Dallas, 98. Jackson, 98. Little Rock, 95.
02:38And look at this. This becomes the bigger story. Omaha, 99 degrees on Sunday.
02:43So the heat's going to be building. And some of that's going to spill into more of the midwest and the northeast through Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
02:50And on Monday, for example, AccuWeather, real field temperatures will be 90 to 95 in Ohio.
02:55Into eastern Kentucky, areas like Harrisburg down to Baltimore, D.C.
02:58And 95 to 100 down near Petersburg and Farmville, Virginia, down through Raleigh and Charlotte as well.
