00:00Sam you're playing your 100th game today with the Bayon Basin Bombers you're the
00:04first person ever to play a hundred games you've been playing a long time
00:08haven't you so you started when you were how old so what made you want to play?
00:30I wanted to play AFL because it's a good sport to play and keep goals
00:40You play in the forward pocket don't you? Have you always played that position um yeah
00:44now you're playing seniors now you played in the juniors and now the
00:49seniors but they didn't have a senior team for a few years did they so when
00:58you got too old for juniors and they didn't have a seniors team what did you
01:02do? I played a little bit for the AFL Inclusion Carnival for four years and you helped did you help with the juniors? Yes. And who did you also coach? I coached the women's team so I was actually in the AFL women's team wasn't I Sam?
01:31I coached one of my coaches. What was it like telling your mum what to do? What did you used to say? I told you, love yourself.
01:52He helped with the women's team in what was the year? 2019. It was the year after he finished playing for the juniors. He played from 2011 to 2017 and then we didn't actually have a senior men's team so he wasn't able to play with anyone.
02:10So Sam, who's your favourite player? My favourite player is Dusty Martin.
02:37Dusty Martin, he's retiring. You're not going to retire though? No. So how long are you going to keep playing do you think? Another 10 years.
02:58So what do you love about it, about playing football? I play with my team mates. It's a lovely sense of community, the plumbers club. I love including everybody and they don't bat an eyelid.
03:21Sam's part of the team and that's how it should be and so we were always looking for a sense of community and as soon as we started the plumbers that's what we felt. No one scratched their heads and thought what do we do here? We just got on with it didn't we?
03:40So today what's going to happen? How many goals are you going to kick? Four. Four goals. Why four goals? Because we're going to kick four. And who's that for? For Aaron.
04:02So this is Ellen, Sam's girlfriend. And they've been going out for how long? Four years. How many dates? 125. 100 games and 125 dates.
