00:00The courage and selfless dedication of the volunteers involved in this challenging and
00:29successful rescue mission is greatly appreciated and Marine Rescue NSW is extremely proud of
00:35this group of wonderful volunteers.
00:37We got the Mayday, went out, the weather wasn't too bad, probably 2m swell, within half an
00:45hour the swell had gone up to 4-5m high with winds gusting nearly 60 knots.
00:53I believe it was a successful mission because we spent many hours a week training, we do
01:00scenarios for incidents like this, we knew what to do, then you throw in the huge seas
01:09and the huge winds that were coming through, which makes it a little bit more difficult
01:15but we knew exactly what to do, the crew did an amazing job, all worked well together.
01:21I'm extremely proud of the members receiving the NAPSA award, for me it's a good reflection
01:29that our training is at a high standard, it could have been any crew team that went out
01:35on that night and they still wouldn't have achieved the same aim.
01:37They worked very hard, we trained almost 5-6 days a week and night times to ensure that
01:44our training is at the best that we possibly can.
