00:00:00Welcome to the block.
00:00:07Bondi.
00:00:09We're in Manly.
00:00:11Hi, I'm Scott Cam.
00:00:13Welcome back to the great city of Melbourne.
00:00:17Get a load of this.
00:00:21Oh dear.
00:00:23Australia's favourite renovating show.
00:00:25Now that's awkward.
00:00:27This is going to be the biggest block ever.
00:00:30Welcome to the block.
00:00:32Welcome to the block.
00:00:40The block is one of the greatest things that have ever happened to us.
00:00:45The block family is real.
00:00:47They're your friends for life.
00:00:54It truly has changed our lives.
00:00:57Welcome to the block.
00:01:08Ooh la la.
00:01:10My goodness.
00:01:14This is beautiful.
00:01:19Diamonds are made under pressure.
00:01:21This is one shimmering diamond.
00:01:24Absolutely blown away.
00:01:38Let's go!
00:01:43Yes!
00:01:45Yes!
00:01:58Welcome to the block.
00:02:00Season 20.
00:02:02Episode 901.
00:02:04Buckle up, everyone.
00:02:06Because this year we're going island-like.
00:02:15Make it brighter.
00:02:17Make it brighter for me.
00:02:20The block 2024 is situated on the idyllic family holiday location of Phillip Island,
00:02:26just a short drive from Melbourne.
00:02:33To keep with the idyllic family holiday vibe,
00:02:38we bought a run-down resort
00:02:41with eight two-bedroom holiday villas.
00:02:45Make it brighter for me.
00:02:49It also comes with a tennis court, a pool and a clubhouse.
00:02:57The plan is to take two existing holiday villas
00:03:00and join them together to make houses one, two, three and four.
00:03:05These will become four-bedroom, five-bathroom mega family holiday homes
00:03:10with plunge pools.
00:03:12While House 5, an existing two-storey home,
00:03:15will create yet another mega holiday home.
00:03:20Hard it's fair to say that today,
00:03:22as our eager contestants prepare to see it for the first time...
00:03:26Whoo!
00:03:27Yeah!
00:03:29Yeah!
00:03:32..this idyllic family holiday location is more like...
00:03:38..a zombie apocalypse.
00:03:43ZOMBIE MOANS
00:03:51You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs,
00:03:54which is what we've done here.
00:03:56As the original houses have been ripped apart,
00:03:59the piece is used to create new structures for the contestants' arrival.
00:04:08Now, that's a little over the top.
00:04:13ZOMBIE MOANS
00:04:18Location sorted. Tick.
00:04:23Now for this season's blockheads.
00:04:26Meet Jessie and Paige.
00:04:28I'm so happy we're down near the coast.
00:04:31I know.
00:04:32Super relaxed, a bit more like home.
00:04:34Phillip Island, the hustle and bustle of Melbourne,
00:04:36is just not us WA people, is it? In the past.
00:04:40Here are some fun facts about this photogenic duo.
00:04:44They are from Perth, WA.
00:04:46Jessie is 29 years old and a carpenter,
00:04:49a very handy skill on this show.
00:04:52Do a wheelie.
00:04:55That was shocking.
00:04:56That was my best one yet, I reckon.
00:04:58He carries an unshakeable confidence,
00:05:00a calm and strategic mind,
00:05:02honed by years of working on luxury homes.
00:05:05We're coming up to a house I recently finished end of last year,
00:05:08and obviously the carpentry work was epic.
00:05:11It was a late ride with a zombie, tell us.
00:05:14Zombie me.
00:05:16Paige is 27 and a claims specialist.
00:05:19I can very much assure you that we're taking yours very seriously, Ryan.
00:05:22She is also very confident.
00:05:25Do it again now.
00:05:26You and me, baby, ain't nothing but mammals,
00:05:29so let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel.
00:05:34Especially when it comes to her Rena style.
00:05:37I love this house.
00:05:39Like an elevated, like, coastal grandma sort of vibe, you know?
00:05:44OK, then. More on that later.
00:05:48These two fell in love at first sight.
00:05:51We met in 2017.
00:05:53I saw Paige walk out of the toilet,
00:05:55and I think I spoke to her about two hours with her,
00:05:57and I was busting for the toilet.
00:05:59They got engaged just under a year ago,
00:06:02and up until this very moment, have lived a fairytale life.
00:06:08And they're setting out on this journey
00:06:10with an impressive dose of confidence.
00:06:12I think when I crossed that bridge over onto Phillip Island,
00:06:15I was like, game on.
00:06:16We're going to be under control here.
00:06:18I want to be the first one finished each week
00:06:20and walk around to people's houses and be like,
00:06:23do you guys want a hand finished over there? Done.
00:06:27You don't actually understand how much of a rollercoaster it is.
00:06:30I hate it. I just feel like I'm failing.
00:06:32You're not failing. It's OK.
00:06:34It doesn't feel OK for me.
00:06:37All right, you're obviously adamant about it,
00:06:39but I couldn't disagree more.
00:06:40No stress.
00:06:41Good luck with it, OK?
00:06:43Cheers.
00:06:44Obviously, he's a great, accomplished architect,
00:06:47but I actually don't give a f*** about his opinion.
00:06:51Paige, come on.
00:06:54Paige, come on.
00:06:55Stop saying come on.
00:06:57I'm just not happy here.
00:06:59Then walk out, man!
00:07:04Where is it?
00:07:05Look at that, Island Cove Villa.
00:07:08We're here.
00:07:09Look at... Oh, my God.
00:07:11Oh, my God.
00:07:13This is happening.
00:07:14It's actually game on.
00:07:15This is the block, OK.
00:07:17Oh, no way.
00:07:18Where do I park here?
00:07:19Best Impressions.
00:07:21Nothing in your teeth?
00:07:24I'm ready. Let's go.
00:07:25Let's go.
00:07:27I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming.
00:07:28Oh, my goodness.
00:07:30Look at her.
00:07:32Oh, my goodness.
00:07:34OK.
00:07:36It was just, like, tables rolled over everywhere.
00:07:39There was a little kid's bicycle.
00:07:41Oh, a tricycle.
00:07:42And, yeah, it was creepy.
00:07:43Creepy.
00:07:44This is mental.
00:07:46We're on the block.
00:07:51This is where our journey starts.
00:07:53Day one.
00:07:54Are you ready?
00:07:55We're going to do well.
00:07:56Fighting fit.
00:07:57We're going to be the best.
00:07:58We're going to win.
00:08:01Slow, slow.
00:08:02Slow.
00:08:03Oh, my God.
00:08:04Oh, my golly, golly.
00:08:05I think it's here.
00:08:06It is right here.
00:08:07Ah!
00:08:09Oh, my God.
00:08:10Oh, my God.
00:08:11Oh, my God.
00:08:12Oh, my God.
00:08:13Oh, my God.
00:08:16Meet Christian and Mimi.
00:08:19They are from South Australia,
00:08:21recently engaged...
00:08:22Oh, yeah!
00:08:23CHEERING
00:08:25..and recently married.
00:08:27♪ Baby, I got you on my mind
00:08:31♪ Honey, you won't ever know
00:08:34Christian is an electrician
00:08:36and the calming presence in this marriage.
00:08:39Mimi, on the other hand, is a fiery force of nature,
00:08:42an aspiring actress...
00:08:43♪ I'm singing, I'm alive
00:08:46..who works in her parents' Vietnamese restaurant
00:08:49for her tiger mum.
00:08:51She's tiger mum.
00:08:52SHE LAUGHS
00:08:53My mum thinks I am...
00:08:58..a disappointment.
00:09:00Oh, my God.
00:09:02Her words, not mine.
00:09:06She put me through a private school.
00:09:08All the extracurricular things, like piano, tennis,
00:09:10like violin, all that.
00:09:12Dancing, acting, singing, tap.
00:09:14And she's like,
00:09:15look at everything I've put you in
00:09:17and you're not good at anything.
00:09:20No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:09:25Oh, my God!
00:09:32Why are you crying?

00:09:41Wait for me.
00:09:42Come on!

00:09:59How you going?
00:10:00I'm Paige.

00:10:03How are you feeling?
00:10:04He's crying!
00:10:05She's excited.
00:10:06She's excited.
00:10:07Yeah, it's pretty overwhelming.
00:10:08Yeah.
00:10:09It is so overwhelming.
00:10:10It's cool, right, looking at it?
00:10:11It's finally happened.
00:10:12We're doing it together.
00:10:13We're doing it together.
00:10:15Righto, brother.
00:10:16Woo!
00:10:17Locked and loaded.
00:10:18Woo!
00:10:19Does it even feel real, you know?
00:10:21It's not real yet.
00:10:22When we're shaking hands...
00:10:23Yeah.
00:10:24..with the man.
00:10:25Yep.
00:10:26Scotty Cam.
00:10:27Scotty Cam, the man.
00:10:28You know you're on the block
00:10:29and you know you've made it in life.
00:10:31Mm-hm.
00:10:32The next arrivals are Victorian locals.
00:10:35They just had to drive across the bridge to get here.
00:10:38I'm actually feeling real now.
00:10:40Best mates of 23 years,
00:10:42Ricky and Hayden are not the quiet reserve type.
00:10:49We experimented with a little bit of colour.
00:10:51The odd party shirt.
00:10:52Yeah.
00:10:53Really enjoyed the odd party shirt
00:10:54and then the wardrobe started picking up
00:10:56with lots of party shirts.
00:10:57The hats, the socks, the sunnies, the shorts.
00:10:59And your shoes, whatever it is.
00:11:00You feel good, right?
00:11:01Yeah.
00:11:03Being bright, being loud.
00:11:04And being different.
00:11:05Not being afraid to be different.
00:11:06Oh, yeah.
00:11:07Oh, yeah.
00:11:08Oh, yeah.
00:11:09Oh, yeah.
00:11:10We're completely different people.
00:11:11Yeah.
00:11:12I'm a tradie.
00:11:13I'm a plumber.
00:11:14Two, five.
00:11:15I am an IT guy.
00:11:17Yeah.
00:11:18Different type of operators.
00:11:19But those, like, those greater,
00:11:20the greatest partnerships, like,
00:11:22and the greatest superheroes of all time.
00:11:24Batman and Robin didn't have the same skill set.
00:11:26Do you know what I mean?
00:11:28They both had their own strengths.
00:11:30Robin was a nerd.
00:11:31Batman was a powerful superhero
00:11:35who got most of the credit for the pair's worth.
00:11:43But, like, Batman would be nothing without Robin.
00:11:46To be clear, I'm Batman.
00:11:48He thinks he's Batman.
00:11:49We'll let him believe he's Batman.
00:11:50That's how we roll.
00:11:51Yeah.
00:11:53If this goes to air,
00:11:54make sure that no one else finds out
00:11:55that I'm actually Batman.
00:11:58Ricky is not Batman,
00:12:00and so Hayden is not Robin.
00:12:02He's Dadman, or soon-to-be Dadman,
00:12:05because in less than a month,
00:12:07he and his wife Chelsea are having their first baby
00:12:10after nine long years of IVF.
00:12:15Yeah.
00:12:16Last year, we decided to give it one more round,
00:12:19put the last embryo that we had in,
00:12:21and it failed.
00:12:23We'd given up, and then I think it was probably six weeks later,
00:12:26bang, pregnant.
00:12:28Oh, we can't embarrass anyone while we're here.
00:12:30You've got to keep going.
00:12:31Through the boom gate?
00:12:32No, no, no, you've got to keep going.
00:12:33There's a boom gate there.
00:12:34Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:12:36Yeah, yeah, going through, going through.
00:12:38Yeah, yeah, cheers, brother.
00:12:40Oh, they missed it.
00:12:42Oh, no.
00:12:43I've got a boat.
00:12:46I'm not going to lie,
00:12:47I wasn't listening too well to instructions.
00:12:49Woo-hoo!
00:12:50Wow.
00:12:51We're here, mate.
00:12:52It's like someone knew we were coming.
00:12:55Wait, they have a canoe.
00:12:57Are you going kayaking?
00:12:59Just go over on your right.
00:13:01Park there.
00:13:02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:13:03Why not?
00:13:11Oh, jeez.
00:13:13Pretty much every one of these people
00:13:15who are right now looking at us,
00:13:16they're like, yep, yep.
00:13:18That's them.
00:13:19There's a pair of dickheads everywhere.
00:13:21That's them.
00:13:24Does this door open the same as every other door?
00:13:26Same as my door.
00:13:28Hello!
00:13:29Hey!
00:13:30Have you got any luggage or just barbecue and a...
00:13:32Yeah!
00:13:33How you going?
00:13:34Awesome.
00:13:35Jesse.
00:13:36Amazing.
00:13:37Now give us a hug.
00:13:38What's your name?
00:13:39Ricky.
00:13:40Ricky.
00:13:41When I saw Jesse and Paige,
00:13:42I thought maybe it was like Love Island or something,
00:13:44and we were like the invaders.
00:13:45Everyone was really good-looking.
00:13:46Intimidating.
00:13:47Yeah.
00:13:48They were coming over to us,
00:13:49and I was like, hey, you know,
00:13:50what's the actual show that we're on?
00:13:52Because I still thought it was a stitch-up.
00:13:54Jesse.
00:13:55Nice to meet you.
00:13:56Nice to meet you, man.
00:13:58I think the first thing that comes out in conversation
00:14:00is what you do.
00:14:02Plumber.
00:14:03Yeah, man.
00:14:04We're enemies.
00:14:05I'm a sparky.
00:14:06Oh, no.
00:14:07I'm a chippy.
00:14:08I'm a chippy.
00:14:09Are you a chippy as well?
00:14:10No, I'm an IT.
00:14:11IT?
00:14:12Yeah.
00:14:13I deal with computers and stuff.
00:14:14I'm just, yeah, I know nothing.
00:14:15You seem to thrive.
00:14:16Exactly.
00:14:17You're a plumber.
00:14:18I'm a plumber.
00:14:19Okay, we've got traits.
00:14:20I reckon.
00:14:21Until it's like, yeah.
00:14:22I'll sleep up.
00:14:27Do you know where you're going?
00:14:28I do know where I'm going.
00:14:29Wait, watch out, watch out, watch out.
00:14:32You've already started.
00:14:33We are not going to die before we get on this.
00:14:35I saw the car.
00:14:36Jesus Christ.
00:14:40Meet Courtney,
00:14:41an event account manager slash furniture designer
00:14:44slash influencer type person.
00:14:47I also have a side business called The Lazy Stylist
00:14:49where I design and sell furniture.
00:14:51I love cows.
00:14:52Cows are my spirit animal.
00:14:58She's married to Grant.
00:14:59I love eating cows.
00:15:02A landscape business development manager
00:15:04and a fiercely Maltese man.
00:15:08Can I shine this mirror?
00:15:09Don't.
00:15:10Shut up.
00:15:11It's like the sheep took a s*** on our wall.
00:15:14Someone wanted to collaborate
00:15:15and I gave them a Lazy Stylist piece.
00:15:17This was right at the beginning.
00:15:22They are married and come to us from Western Sydney.
00:15:25We're in.
00:15:26No vacancy.
00:15:27Are you turning in?
00:15:28Yeah.
00:15:29Are there any other couples?
00:15:30I think they might be.
00:15:33How many do we have?
00:15:34We've got three couples so we need two more.
00:15:39Okay.
00:15:40You ready?
00:15:41I'm ready.
00:15:43Mwah.
00:15:45Hello.
00:15:46Welcome.
00:15:47Welcome.
00:15:48Hi.
00:15:49Hey mate, Jessie, Grant.
00:15:50Nice to meet you.
00:15:51Nice to meet you.
00:15:52How are you?
00:15:53Good.
00:15:54Hi, I'm out here.
00:15:57How many of us are here?
00:15:58Wait, we need one more couple.
00:16:01Phillip Island won't know what's hit them.
00:16:13Someone can take over and be Brad's partner.
00:16:16Is that what you want?
00:16:20All I said was you make it hard.
00:16:22Close the door.
00:16:26Hailing from the tropics, a Cairns couple, Kylie and Brad.
00:16:31Oddly, people always ask us,
00:16:32like, are you guys from Melbourne?
00:16:33And I'm like, no, why?
00:16:34And everyone's like,
00:16:35it's because you wear black all the time.
00:16:37Everyone wears black, has black homes.
00:16:40That's definitely not a Cairns thing.
00:16:41Everyone up here is coastal.
00:16:43It's all white because everything's hot.
00:16:44Yeah.
00:16:46These guys have a troop of four to keep them busy.
00:16:50Brushing teeth, please.
00:16:52Steal, you too.
00:16:55But apart from that, Brad is a tradie double threat,
00:16:58being both a plumber and electrician,
00:17:01while Kylie runs her own hair and beauty business.
00:17:08Here we go.
00:17:09Oh, they're here.
00:17:10Are they here?
00:17:11Is this them all walking up to us?
00:17:12Yeah, babe.
00:17:13They're, like, coming to greet us?
00:17:14Yeah.
00:17:15Is this what's happening?
00:17:16This is what's happening.
00:17:17When we first drove in,
00:17:18we could see the other couple sort of just waiting, excited.
00:17:22They kind of just kept coming towards us.
00:17:25G'day.
00:17:26Hey!
00:17:29Welcome home.
00:17:30Welcome to the block.
00:17:31This is it.
00:17:32Like, we're actually doing this.
00:17:34Hi, I'm Paige.
00:17:35I'm Brad.
00:17:36Brad, nice to meet you, Brad.
00:17:37Nice to meet you, Brad.
00:17:38Hello, I'm Kylie.
00:17:39Kylie, you're stunning.
00:17:40Thank you so much.
00:17:41Kylie and Brad rocked up,
00:17:43and I knew from that very moment I was drawn to Kylie,
00:17:47and I was like, we're going to be best friends.
00:17:49She just doesn't know it yet.
00:17:51I only have eyes for you
00:18:00From Queensland?
00:18:01Yeah, Queensland.
00:18:02So, what does everyone do?
00:18:04I'm a plumber and a sparky.
00:18:06Oh!
00:18:07Yay!
00:18:10OK, that's everyone.
00:18:12How about a quick roll call?
00:18:14Run me through the contestants who are here.
00:18:16I'm just trying to remember everyone's names.
00:18:18Ah, you've got the WA team, the Queensland team.
00:18:21So, who are the contestants from WA?
00:18:24Ooh.
00:18:25Paige.
00:18:27And her partner.
00:18:30I'm not going to try and remember their names,
00:18:32but there was definitely WA, SA.
00:18:35There was WA, SA, and the boys from Vic.
00:18:38So, Paige and Jessie.
00:18:40Then we had Ricky and Hayden.
00:18:42Then we had Courtney Grant.
00:18:44And then last one was Kylie and Brad.
00:18:46I can tell you their colours, I can tell you their states,
00:18:48I can tell you everything.
00:18:49What their jobs are.
00:18:51Location, tick.
00:18:53Blockheads, tick.
00:18:55We're all set for season 20.
00:18:58But after 20 years, if there's one thing we've learnt,
00:19:01it's that the block is the hardest game in town.
00:19:04Welcome to the block.
00:19:10Let it begin.
00:19:16Jeez, mate, you're far from the beach.
00:19:21I'm not having you onside. You're a snake.
00:19:23They shouldn't be here.
00:19:24Both our signatures have been forged.
00:19:26We might have to shut the site down.
00:19:28We're having a baby.
00:19:30That's crazy on the block.
00:19:37What's the overall plan for this island home?
00:19:40Just wing it.
00:19:43I don't know how you do this.
00:19:46I can't believe I signed up for the block voluntarily.
00:19:50Yeah!
00:19:52What have you created?
00:19:54The new blockheads will face 12 weeks of relentless renovation.
00:19:58Today is a disaster.
00:19:59Full proper.
00:20:00This is a disaster.
00:20:01They just need to stop and get things done properly.
00:20:04You look at authority like it's nothing.
00:20:06You're going against the rules.
00:20:07Well, that's a joke.
00:20:08You either laugh your way through a disaster...
00:20:10LAUGHTER
00:20:11..or you cry.
00:20:14He's not here.
00:20:15Are you fair dinkum?
00:20:16Who's running this show, Grumpy or me?
00:20:18All right, let's wrap it up.
00:20:20What's that?
00:20:21I'm not going to wrap it up.
00:20:22This is part of the deal, unfortunately.
00:20:24And before too long, this fun family resort
00:20:27will push these relationships to breaking point.
00:20:30We all have our husbands by the balls.
00:20:32Not true.
00:20:33Don't talk over me.
00:20:34Don't tell me not to waste any time.
00:20:36Don't take it out on me, you anger.
00:20:37This is really heavy, honey.
00:20:38I can't make decisions when you're complaining.
00:20:40Get out.
00:20:41Babe.
00:20:42You talk s*** about me, you get cut.
00:20:44You're like an angry little gremlin.
00:20:45An emotional connection is really important for us.
00:20:47That's so childish, man.
00:20:50Darn.
00:20:51I'm joking.
00:20:53And after just a few weeks, one team will pack it all in.
00:20:57Can you leave us, please, just for a sec?
00:20:59Dad, I don't want to do this anymore.
00:21:01This has just been a nightmare.
00:21:03I don't know how we recover from here, man.
00:21:05You never want to listen to me.
00:21:07I'm not happy.
00:21:08I'm not happy either.
00:21:09I'll just go home.
00:21:10Is that what you want?
00:21:12Can I have a break?
00:21:14I'm done.
00:21:15That's it.
00:21:17So if you guys are listening to this,
00:21:19I think you should actually start looking for replacements.
00:21:23When it comes to room delivery,
00:21:25it's a mixed bag of lollies.
00:21:27Oh, my goodness.
00:21:29Some sweet.
00:21:30That's hot.
00:21:31Some sour.
00:21:33What the...
00:21:36This is going to be the biggest disaster we've seen in 20 seasons.
00:21:40You want to be safe.
00:21:41I don't want to be safe.
00:21:43Hell hath no fury like this.
00:21:45Hell hath no fury like Chain of Lays.
00:21:47But in the end,
00:21:48these five houses will undergo incredible transformation.
00:21:57It's sexy.
00:21:58It's classy.
00:21:59This is the most emotional I've felt judging.
00:22:03I've got to ask whether or not I can be a bidder or not.
00:22:06All for that one big day where lives will be changed forever.
00:22:12It's sold.
00:22:13God sold to me.
00:22:16As our five new teams join the Block family.
00:22:20I'm so proud of us.
00:22:21I'm super grateful for being here every day.
00:22:24You guys are going to be my new family.
00:22:26Cheers.
00:22:30Cheers to the Block.
00:22:46Take one.
00:22:49I know, I'm nervous too.
00:22:56Oh my God, is that Scotty?
00:23:05Scotty, I love you.
00:23:07I love you.
00:23:08I love you.
00:23:14Scotty Cam, a legend.
00:23:16Scotty.
00:23:18Yeah, Scotty.
00:23:23I saw Scotty Cam, I met him, I'm happy.
00:23:25My journey's over.
00:23:30Scotty rocked up.
00:23:31Yeah.
00:23:32Daddy of the Block.
00:23:34Meeting Scotty Cam was like meeting...
00:23:38Ariana Grande.
00:23:40For Mimi.
00:23:41The Block, Ariana Grande.
00:23:45She's my best friend.
00:23:49I love Ariana Grande more than I love Christian.
00:23:52Oh, gee thanks.
00:23:58Welcome Blockheads.
00:23:59Welcome Blockheads.
00:24:02That's Frankie.
00:24:03Go on, push up.
00:24:05Hi, Papa.
00:24:07Oh, Frankie.
00:24:08Hello, darling.
00:24:11Welcome to Phillip Island.
00:24:14Now I'm guessing that you guys grew up watching this show.
00:24:18Yeah.
00:24:19Because you were kids when we started.
00:24:21I'm so ready for the House Decider Challenge.
00:24:23I've been mentally prepping myself for this very moment.
00:24:27You know you're sprinting, right?
00:24:29What are you yelling about?
00:24:31The double story.
00:24:33I already kind of logistically was scanning and was like,
00:24:36okay, that'll be one, two, three, four, five,
00:24:39which was a double story.
00:24:40Looked different to all the others, so I was like,
00:24:42we need to get this one.
00:24:44I bet you you are busting to get stuck in and build a house.
00:24:48Yeah.
00:24:50Well, guess what?
00:24:51That is exactly what we're going to do.
00:24:53No mucking around.
00:24:54Right now?
00:24:55Right now?
00:24:56We're starting straight away.
00:24:57Yeah.
00:24:58Now you guys are about to play one of the great games on telly.
00:25:03Are you up for it?
00:25:04Yeah.
00:25:05You can handle it?
00:25:06Yeah.
00:25:11Okay.
00:25:13Jessie and Paige.
00:25:15Okay.
00:25:17You were first through the gate today, weren't you?
00:25:18We were.
00:25:19Well, that means you get to choose a penguin first.
00:25:24And on the other side of that penguin is a colour-borne colour.
00:25:27And that colour matches the roof colour of the house
00:25:30that you are going to renovate for the next 12 weeks.
00:25:33So basically, you pick a penguin, you pick a house.
00:25:37Wow.
00:25:42So, pick a penguin.
00:25:44Okay.
00:25:45What do you reckon?
00:25:46This is it.
00:25:51I think number two.
00:25:53Number two, please.
00:25:54Number two, please.
00:25:55This one right here?
00:25:56Number two.
00:25:57Okay, here we go.
00:25:58What is it?
00:25:59White.
00:26:00Right, that is Dover White.
00:26:01Dover White.
00:26:02Colour-borne colour.
00:26:03Dover White.
00:26:04And that colour matches house number one.
00:26:07What?
00:26:08Which is right up there as you drive in the gate.
00:26:12Okay.
00:26:13Number one.
00:26:16Next through the gate was Christian and Mimi.
00:26:18Pick a penguin.
00:26:20The middle one, please.
00:26:21Number three.
00:26:22This one?
00:26:23Yes, please.
00:26:24Number three.
00:26:26Surf Mist Matte.
00:26:28That colour matches house number five.
00:26:35The double storey at the front.
00:26:40We noticed that house five was the only double storey.
00:26:45But we saw it was big, we saw it was grand.
00:26:47And point of difference.
00:26:50No way.
00:26:51Boys, you were next.
00:26:52Pick a penguin.
00:26:54Number four.
00:26:55Number four, Scotty.
00:26:56This one here?
00:26:57Yep.
00:26:58Play it on us.
00:27:00Shale Grey goes with house number three.
00:27:04This one right here.
00:27:12House number three.
00:27:14Courtney and Grant, you were next.
00:27:15You go, you go.
00:27:16Which one do you want?
00:27:17You're luckier than me.
00:27:18Alright, this one.
00:27:19This one?
00:27:20Yep.
00:27:22Surf Mist, that is house number two right there.
00:27:30That means, Brad and Kylie, you get Southerly,
00:27:35which is house number four.
00:27:37We were lucky last.
00:27:38So we got whatever was left.
00:27:40Yeah.
00:27:42Okay, gang.
00:27:44We have our houses.
00:27:46It's time for you to move in,
00:27:47because tomorrow morning you're going to start renovating
00:27:50and you need to present a room to the judges by next Sunday.
00:27:54It's full on, this joint.
00:27:57We're ready, Scotty.
00:28:01Also, each team will have a budget of $250,000 cash.
00:28:07Thanks to CommBank.
00:28:09Okay, gang.
00:28:10You will find the details of the room you are doing this week
00:28:13and the rooms you do every week on the Domain website.
00:28:16And that's the only place that you will find that.
00:28:19You're on the block, people.
00:28:21It's very tough.
00:28:23Get into your houses.
00:28:24Get going.
00:28:25Good luck.
00:28:28That's your cue to run.
00:28:33Come on, guys.
00:28:34Come on.
00:28:46Run with us.
00:28:49Are we going through here?
00:28:50Yep.
00:28:51I'm scared.
00:28:52Ready, ready?
00:28:54Oh, wow.
00:28:58Oh, no.
00:28:59Whoa, what?
00:29:00I didn't expect that.
00:29:03Oh, my goodness.
00:29:09This is our home for the next three months.
00:29:12Wow, wow, wow.
00:29:16All right, all right.
00:29:19Yeah, right.
00:29:20Right.
00:29:25What do you think?
00:29:29It looked a bit haunted.
00:29:35I don't know.
00:29:38Okay.
00:29:40Everything's busted.
00:29:41This thing's a bombsite.
00:29:43It was toast.
00:29:44Yeah, absolute chaos.
00:29:45Yeah, it was.
00:29:46Looking around, I'm like, man, this joint is dumb.
00:29:50I need a shower.
00:29:53We found this fancy-looking screen,
00:29:55and it turned out to be the CommBank...
00:29:57Smartboard.
00:29:58Smartboard.
00:29:59House 3, there it is.
00:30:00What?
00:30:01All right, that is just made for you.
00:30:03All right.
00:30:04I was mind-blown.
00:30:05Yeah, this thing is smarter than me.
00:30:08You want to see your plans?
00:30:09Yeah.
00:30:10There it is, dude.
00:30:11Wow.
00:30:12What do you think?
00:30:14I see the vision.
00:30:15I see the vision.
00:30:16I see it.
00:30:18I'm loving house 1.
00:30:19If you said right now, take your pick, I would...
00:30:21I'd keep it house 1.
00:30:22Yeah, same.
00:30:24This is our house.
00:30:25That is stunning.
00:30:27We're not really utilising any of the old house.
00:30:29Just the slums.
00:30:30And then the steel framing is basically gone on top of,
00:30:32so it's kind of like we're building a brand-new house.
00:30:36Oh, it looks beautiful,
00:30:37except I would definitely change the colour of the facade.
00:30:42Maybe flip that to this and do that even more black.
00:30:46Then you do like a black door.
00:30:49Not black enough for her.
00:30:50Not black enough for me.
00:30:51I'd make everything black.
00:30:53What have you done?
00:30:54Come on.
00:30:55Control-Alt-Delete.
00:30:56Turn it off and turn it back on.
00:30:58Oh, my God, mate, you had one job.
00:31:01Oh, you've deleted the budget.
00:31:03I'm just trying to figure out where's where.
00:31:05Yeah, where are we?
00:31:06Hello.
00:31:07Hi.
00:31:08Oh, goodie.
00:31:09How's your house?
00:31:10It needs a bit of work.
00:31:11A little bit of work.
00:31:12I know.
00:31:13Hey, look, I've got some prizes for you.
00:31:14Some JB Hi-Fi.
00:31:15Google Pixel.
00:31:16Phones.
00:31:17Oh, amazing.
00:31:18A tablet.
00:31:19A little Pixel.
00:31:20Oh, perfect.
00:31:21There's a tablet as well.
00:31:22And there's also, this is a good one,
00:31:24watches.
00:31:25You spoil us.
00:31:26So then you can do all your ordering.
00:31:28Now, have you worked this out?
00:31:29Not yet.
00:31:30This is incredible, this thing.
00:31:31I love it.
00:31:32That's the house.
00:31:33That's your house.
00:31:34I love it.
00:31:35Wow.
00:31:36Wow is right.
00:31:37And then you do this.
00:31:39Yes.
00:31:40Okay, so this is our...
00:31:41Oh, awesome.
00:31:42CommBank's total budget.
00:31:43Yeah.
00:31:44You reckon that's awesome?
00:31:45Yeah.
00:31:46Need a lot more money than that.
00:31:50Look at the budgets for 12 grand on the kitchen.
00:31:53That's 12 grand for the kitchen?
00:31:57And we've got to win challenges.
00:31:59I'm not sure about this.
00:32:03It was good to see the breakdown,
00:32:04but certainly concerned.
00:32:06The thing is, this is not enough
00:32:08to build that beautiful house.
00:32:09It's no ager.
00:32:10You know that.
00:32:11We've got to win.
00:32:12You've got to win.
00:32:13Yeah.
00:32:14You've got to win money.
00:32:15Okay.
00:32:16Challenges.
00:32:17Yep.
00:32:18Room wins.
00:32:19All that sort of jazz.
00:32:20So have you thought about
00:32:21where you're sleeping tonight, boys?
00:32:22We've thought about it.
00:32:23Haven't found it yet.
00:32:24Wherever you're staying?
00:32:25Yeah.
00:32:26No, no, no.
00:32:27I've got a magnificent house
00:32:28on the island here.
00:32:29You're going nowhere near it.
00:32:30Okay, fair enough.
00:32:31That's wise.
00:32:32You go down to Mitre 10
00:32:33and they'll give you
00:32:34a whole bunch of camping gear.
00:32:35Anything like that.
00:32:36It's going to be terrific.
00:32:38Are you going to camp with us?
00:32:39No, I've got a magnificent house.
00:32:41I'm not a camper, sorry.
00:32:43That stressed me out.
00:32:44Oh, you're not a camper.
00:32:45Okay.
00:32:46Can I take the three grand
00:32:48we're not going to spend on that
00:32:49and put it towards a hotel?
00:33:01There's something in the air
00:33:03on Phillip Island today.
00:33:05Mitre 10.
00:33:07Bang, bang.
00:33:08Then it's rock and roll.
00:33:10I think it's those day one
00:33:12on the block feels
00:33:13as our fresh batch of blockheads
00:33:16embark on their first mission.
00:33:18Oh, baby.
00:33:20Our first trip out.
00:33:21Mitre 10, we get a tent.
00:33:23Yeah.
00:33:24I attempt to sleep in tonight
00:33:26and for the foreseeable future
00:33:28until I decide to upgrade them
00:33:30to a bedroom.
00:33:31How are you feeling, memes?
00:33:34First visit.
00:33:35Woo.
00:33:36First visit.
00:33:37Don't be weird.
00:33:38First visit.
00:33:40Welcome, guys.
00:33:41Hi, mate.
00:33:42How are you?
00:33:43Good, Craig.
00:33:44Grant, nice to meet you.
00:33:45Nice to meet you, Courtney.
00:33:46Courtney, love to meet you.
00:33:47Welcome to Cow's Mitre 10.
00:33:50And welcome to Phillip Island.
00:33:51Yes.
00:33:52Weather's always like this.
00:33:53I love Craig.
00:33:54Craig was awesome.
00:33:55Yeah.
00:33:56Craig was awesome.
00:33:57You can see here, team red.
00:33:58Yep, we're team red.
00:33:59We have so much stuff.
00:34:00Oh my goodness.
00:34:01I know, how do you go through all this?
00:34:02What's up, mate?
00:34:03Yep.
00:34:04We loaded up on Mitre 10,
00:34:05so first thing we got was all our tools.
00:34:07I wrote for Keenan.
00:34:08Best brand you can ever get.
00:34:10How cute.
00:34:11How cute.
00:34:12Best pair of work boots.
00:34:14Oh, they're actually really fashionable.
00:34:15They're quite nice.
00:34:17And they smell really nice and fresh.
00:34:19Cool.
00:34:20Who sniffs their boots?
00:34:21Is that weird?
00:34:22I know, that's so weird.
00:34:23Who smells their boots?
00:34:24Homewares, outdoor living,
00:34:25I feel like we're in the right spot.
00:34:27Oh, here we go.
00:34:28We had to pick out all our camping gear.
00:34:31What tent do you want?
00:34:33The biggest.
00:34:35This one looks big.
00:34:37I want the six-person, please.
00:34:38Is this the six-person?
00:34:39That is the six-person.
00:34:41Oh, look, there's only one.
00:34:42Sorry, guys.
00:34:43Oh, you all right?
00:34:44Yeah, I'm fine.
00:34:45Can I carry that for you?
00:34:46Oh, thank you kindly.
00:34:47Broken there.
00:34:48Oh, that's all good.
00:34:49Nothing that can't be repaired.
00:34:50Hardware store.
00:34:51Ah, there we go.
00:34:52We got the six-person tent,
00:34:54where everyone else is, like,
00:34:55fighting for a two-person tent.
00:34:58A few contestants have been in already,
00:35:00because we're starting to get low on these stocks.
00:35:02Ooh.
00:35:03It was like a three-man tent or a two-man tent.
00:35:06What do you want, a two or a three?
00:35:07Like, quickly grab the three-man tent.
00:35:11Two tents left on the shelf.
00:35:13Yeah.
00:35:14So Christian just went, boom, boom,
00:35:15thanks very much, see you later.
00:35:17Yeah, he was quick off the mark.
00:35:18Yeah.
00:35:19I felt bad after, but I was just, like,
00:35:22thinking of me and Mimi on our first night.
00:35:24So we need two sleeping bags.
00:35:26Sleeping bags?
00:35:27Yes, obviously.
00:35:28I thought we'd get sheets.
00:35:29No.
00:35:30I was 100% a camping catastrophizer.
00:35:33That catastrophizes camping without even knowing about it.
00:35:36And it wasn't that bad.
00:35:39I mean, we had a queen mattress.
00:35:41I think we need a pizza oven.
00:35:43Can I grab one of these?
00:35:48Paige, do you actually need that?
00:35:52All right, I think that might need to go up.
00:35:53You hold it.
00:35:54I think you're all right, Courtney.
00:35:55Go.
00:35:58Locked and loaded.
00:36:01You want me to drive and get lost?
00:36:03No.
00:36:07That was fun.
00:36:08Being in that tent.
00:36:09You got the biggest one.
00:36:11Of course I would.
00:36:12Why wouldn't I?
00:36:13I really wanted a torch.
00:36:14Why didn't you back me on that?
00:36:15I know.
00:36:18Back into the wasteland.
00:36:21All right, home sweet home.
00:36:22Home sweet home for the next three months.
00:36:28Honey, we're home.
00:36:29Honey, we're home.
00:36:32Camping time.
00:36:33Camping time, brother.
00:36:34Camping break.
00:36:35Yes, I know.
00:36:36Camping on slab.
00:36:37To the slab.
00:36:38Let me take the barramay, please.
00:36:40Which is just where all the best camping stories come from.
00:36:44Camping on a concrete slab in a wasteland.
00:36:50Yeah.
00:36:51So, we're pumped.
00:36:52Sleeping on the conch.
00:36:54Wow.
00:36:55All right.
00:36:56Big rocks.
00:36:57This is going to be rough.
00:36:58We really couldn't wait to peg our tent down
00:37:01in 150mm thick concrete with reinforced steel.
00:37:06All right, make this easy.
00:37:08Come on.
00:37:12You ready?
00:37:13Yeah.
00:37:14Let's see how quickly you can do it.
00:37:16We can do it.
00:37:17We do it all the time.
00:37:18That's what I mean.
00:37:19Beer happening.
00:37:21All right, so this is the room that I had in mind before.
00:37:23Don't worry.
00:37:24What do you think?
00:37:25I think that's perfect.
00:37:26It's like we have our own bloody en suite.
00:37:28It's got all four walls up.
00:37:30Look, how comfy is that?
00:37:32The insulation.
00:37:34Beer happening.
00:37:35This makes me question how many airbeds
00:37:37you're going to need in there.
00:37:39Just quietly.
00:37:41We ought to grab two airbeds for no reason.
00:37:44We're the smallest on here.
00:37:46Like, height-wise, anyway.
00:37:48Like, not, you know.
00:37:49So it probably made the most sense
00:37:51that we got the smallest tent.
00:37:53This is tiny.
00:37:54No.
00:37:55You're longer than this tent.
00:37:56I know.
00:37:58Let's just check it out.
00:37:59Three, two, one.
00:38:01Hey.
00:38:05Should we go to bed?
00:38:06We'll go to bed.
00:38:07Big day?
00:38:08I'm really tired, and I need a bit of beauty sleep.
00:38:10Shoes off, please, before you go in.
00:38:11Yes, boss.
00:38:12We can stand in our tent with a little torch,
00:38:14and they're, like, crawling in, like, commando rolling.
00:38:17Watch the pump, please.
00:38:20You've got to stay humble, though,
00:38:21because everyone else can't even stand up in their tent.
00:38:23And here I am, just wanting more strategies.
00:38:25We're even hanging our towels.
00:38:26We're even hanging our towels,
00:38:27and our tent's not even touching anything of ours.
00:38:29We have a light.
00:38:31Good night, block.
00:38:35How are you feeling?
00:38:36I'm actually really comfortable.
00:38:37It's cozy.
00:38:38I'm really comfy.
00:38:39That's what I love about tents.
00:38:40Like, you always feel super cozy in them.
00:38:41I know.
00:38:42It's all good.
00:38:43I'm so tired.
00:38:44Oh, I know.
00:38:45So tired, and it's only day one.
00:38:47Do you want to cuddle tonight?
00:38:48No.
00:39:11Morning sesh, getting after it.
00:39:13Morning sesh, getting after it.
00:39:14Day one.
00:39:16Paige is can't ready.
00:39:17Feel me right here.
00:39:19Morning, guys.
00:39:20Morning, guys.
00:39:21We're in a tent.
00:39:23And we just woke up on our first morning.
00:39:26How are you feeling, Courtney?
00:39:27It's really tough.
00:39:31I need a coffee.
00:39:32I think what you've got to do, I think,
00:39:34is you've got to be honest.
00:39:35And our current living situation is a shithole.
00:39:40How was your three hours sleep, Courtney?
00:39:42Caving was fine.
00:39:43Fine.
00:39:44It was just a bit cold.
00:39:45I can't even sit up.
00:39:47My head hits the roof.
00:39:48Are you right?
00:39:49This is tiny.
00:39:50No, you're ****.
00:39:51Home sweet home.
00:39:52It's really testing our relationship.
00:39:55We've got a mid-size.
00:39:56We've got a middle ground.
00:39:57Yeah.
00:39:58We've got a middle ground.
00:39:59And then Brad and Kylie's would be a one-person tent.
00:40:01Yeah, no kidding.
00:40:02I felt sorry for Brad.
00:40:03Good morning.
00:40:04Morning.
00:40:05How'd you sleep?
00:40:06Oh, I dozed back off.
00:40:10And then the boys.
00:40:11The boys, I think it was Hayden that was on the floor.
00:40:13You've got one lilo.
00:40:14This bloke's on it.
00:40:17I actually woke up feeling pretty good
00:40:18considering I slipped on a slab.
00:40:21You could fit like a whole family in Paige and Jessie's.
00:40:23Yeah.
00:40:30I've heard a couple of stories about the other teams already
00:40:33and I'm like, oh, I won't tell them how my place was.
00:40:36Yeah, do you know what?
00:40:38It wasn't that bad.
00:40:45Morning.
00:40:46Morning.
00:40:47How'd you sleep?
00:40:48Surprisingly well.
00:40:50I thought we would.
00:40:51I was actually anxious because we still don't know
00:40:53what room we're doing, so.
00:40:56I just got a text.
00:40:57Our first room.
00:40:59You reckon?
00:41:00What is it?
00:41:01What have you got?
00:41:02What have I got?
00:41:03This morning we woke up, jumped on the domain in the no hub.
00:41:07It's bathroom week.
00:41:11More tent life.
00:41:14They're trying to kill us.
00:41:19What have you got?
00:41:20It's bathroom week, mate.
00:41:22I'm a plumber, so I don't mind starting off with a bathroom, right?
00:41:27I've done a few of them, so I wasn't too upset about it.
00:41:31It's bathroom week, Courtney.
00:41:33Where are we going to sleep for next week?
00:41:35And we knew then and there that it's going to be another week camping
00:41:39because there's no bedroom.
00:41:41That was hard.
00:41:43No!
00:41:45It's bathroom week!
00:41:49I'm going to throw up.
00:41:51I'm going to sleep in the Ford.
00:41:52So it was bathroom, and we're actually really excited for that
00:41:55because we felt we had more ideas for the bathroom over bedroom, didn't we?
00:41:59Do you know what? That is correct.
00:42:01I'm actually so stoked it's a bathroom.
00:42:03Another week for bedroom.
00:42:05Okay, okay.
00:42:07With a block now officially underway, the site needs its foreman.
00:42:12But with Phillip Island being a fair distance from Melbourne,
00:42:15only one half of the Keith and Dan duo was able to make the move here for three months.
00:42:23Meaning Keith has handed the baton to Foreman Dan to rule over the island block.
00:42:29Solo.
00:42:32The position is a far cry from his humble beginnings as a blockhead in 2012.
00:42:37Third and final call.
00:42:39I can't believe it.
00:42:40Selling, selling, sold.
00:42:42Oh!
00:42:44Before graduating.
00:42:45Ready four boy?
00:42:46You're four boy.
00:42:48Then you are now going to be called...
00:42:50Four Dan.
00:42:52Four Dan.
00:42:54And now just foreman.
00:42:58Mate, head foreman.
00:43:00For top job.
00:43:01Yeah, wow.
00:43:02Running the site. Are you pumped?
00:43:03Mate, I'm pumped. I'm excited.
00:43:05Remember back in 2012, you know, when I used to train you to go, no!
00:43:10Remember that?
00:43:11Oh, I do remember those days.
00:43:12No!
00:43:13Alright, focus.
00:43:14Oh, no.
00:43:15You're alright.
00:43:16No, go.
00:43:17Go.
00:43:18No.
00:43:19Again.
00:43:20Come on, no!
00:43:21Now, it's yes!
00:43:22Oh, it's yes, is it? Yes!
00:43:23Yes!
00:43:24Yes!
00:43:25I'm ready.
00:43:27Yes!
00:43:28Here we go.
00:43:29And now, your first job, opening Mick Cafe.
00:43:33Oh, my favourite part, Mick Cafe.
00:43:35Oh, Tina.
00:43:36Hello.
00:43:37Hi, how are you?
00:43:38Nice to see you, mate.
00:43:39How are you?
00:43:40You're looking good.
00:43:41Our favourite place on the block.
00:43:49Coffee time, mates.
00:43:50Oh, boys.
00:43:52Morning, gentlemen.
00:43:53Ricky and Hayden.
00:43:54This is Dan.
00:43:56Nice to meet you.
00:43:57This is Foreman.
00:43:58Meeting Foreman Dan was amazing.
00:44:00Meet Dan the Foreman.
00:44:02Hello.
00:44:03Who's your favourite?
00:44:04Dan and Danny were my favourite when I was a kid.
00:44:06And he has such a handsome face in real life.
00:44:09Wow.
00:44:10Wow.
00:44:11He actually really does.
00:44:12He does, right?
00:44:13He's a beautiful man.
00:44:14Now, here's the Foreman, running the whole show.
00:44:16Dan the man.
00:44:17Brilliant.
00:44:18Dan always has a soft spot.
00:44:22Hi, Dan.
00:44:23Hi.
00:44:24Dan, nice to meet you.
00:44:25Courtney, nice to meet you.
00:44:26Nice to meet you guys.
00:44:27Foreman Dan.
00:44:28Dan the man.
00:44:29Any questions, he's your man.
00:44:30All right.
00:44:31Yeah, there'll be questions.
00:44:32There'll be questions.
00:44:33Yeah.
00:44:34Have you got...
00:44:35Me and him are getting along well, I think.
00:44:36I believe.
00:44:37I hope he thinks the same.
00:44:38Nice to meet you.
00:44:39Enjoy them, guys.
00:44:40Good luck today.
00:44:42Tina and Jade.
00:44:43Nice to meet you.
00:44:44We're going to get to know you very well.
00:44:45We'll coffee first.
00:44:46Starts with a small cap.
00:44:47Cappuccino.
00:44:48Yes, please.
00:44:49Another small cap.
00:44:50Normal cap, yeah.
00:44:51All cream milk, please.
00:44:53And then by about 10 o'clock, we're ready for a nice latte.
00:44:56And if that one doesn't run straight through me,
00:44:58we're ready for another two before 1.30.
00:45:01Yuck.
00:45:02And they're all full cream milk,
00:45:04because that's how a coffee's meant to be made.
00:45:07While the wingman on site is another old favourite, Tom,
00:45:10who's arriving with the Reece plumbing team.
00:45:14Hey, Tom.
00:45:15I'm Kylie.
00:45:16Nice to meet you.
00:45:17How are you?
00:45:18Nice to meet you, too.
00:45:19Yeah, good.
00:45:20They always ask, who do you guys resonate the most?
00:45:21What do you do for work?
00:45:22I'm a sparky and a plumber.
00:45:24Jesus.
00:45:26Our sports Brad is the ultimate tradie double threat,
00:45:29so he'll be all over the technical side of the main bathroom.
00:45:34All right.
00:45:35So we're doing this one?
00:45:36Leaving Kylie to focus on the style.
00:45:38So we're keeping the bath?
00:45:39Yeah.
00:45:40Vanity?
00:45:41Yeah.
00:45:42Toilet?
00:45:43Shower?
00:45:44Yeah, I'm fine how that layout is.
00:45:45Yeah.
00:45:47Yeah.
00:45:50Doing a property on Phillip Island,
00:45:52most people are just going to get a coastal brief
00:45:54and kind of go with it.
00:45:55And I thought, well, why not look for a market
00:45:57that's chasing something a little bit different?
00:46:01Shouldn't you be going somewhere, Kylie?
00:46:02Oh, Tommy, I'm running so late.
00:46:04I need to go to Reece.
00:46:05Well, I need tapwear so I can plumb it.
00:46:07No, I know what I want.
00:46:09The theme that I'm going for is dark, textural,
00:46:12modern, predominantly black.
00:46:15And let's just pray that they have what I'm after.
00:46:20Black everything.
00:46:21Black toilet, black bath, black tapwear,
00:46:23black sink, black vanity.
00:46:25Maybe, like, black glass for a shower.
00:46:27No, they don't do that.
00:46:28But, like, that could be a vibe.
00:46:31All right, get to Reece.
00:46:32Thanks, Tom.
00:46:34Not many people do it.
00:46:36And, like, I'm a bit quirky and a bit weird,
00:46:38so I feel like there's definitely a demographic for it.
00:46:41I literally cannot be the only person that is like this.
00:46:45It's going to stand out.
00:47:00We woke up out of our tent and we were, like, excited.
00:47:03And then we realised how much planning had to be done
00:47:07within, like, the first few hours.
00:47:10Bathroom wake, I think it's...
00:47:11Are you nervous?
00:47:13A little bit.
00:47:15It's all new, like...
00:47:16Really?
00:47:17Like, different experience, isn't it?
00:47:19But you're so good.
00:47:20Yeah, no, it's amazing.
00:47:21I'm, like, I'm so excited to see you work.
00:47:23Because I always hear about you working,
00:47:24but I never get to see it.
00:47:25I just want to get my hands dirty, get in the demo.
00:47:27You're all over it.
00:47:28Yeah.
00:47:29But I also want to learn, and that's why I'm...
00:47:30100%.
00:47:31...here asking.
00:47:32I definitely drive under pressure.
00:47:34I feel like I'm a very methodical and logical person
00:47:37who can tackle challenges.
00:47:39And Paige's first self-assigned challenge
00:47:41is to ignore this week's room
00:47:43and completely redesign the house instead.
00:47:46You need linen storage.
00:47:48Yeah.
00:47:49I'm a big storage person.
00:47:50That is nowhere near enough.
00:47:52Even start with a garage and extend a bit,
00:47:54because you need storage.
00:47:57Like, what can you put in here?
00:47:58What if you have subboards?
00:48:00Yeah.
00:48:02Laundry.
00:48:03Like, what is this stuff?
00:48:05So, this is the laundry sink?
00:48:07Yep.
00:48:09Where do you wash a dog?
00:48:12What if you have canoes?
00:48:15Um, we all felt very overwhelmed with everything, so...
00:48:18I didn't really feel overwhelmed.
00:48:20Sorry, okay.
00:48:22Ah, me.
00:48:24I said I always wanted a house
00:48:26where you can have an iron-out all the time,
00:48:28because no one wants to put away...
00:48:30Do we get one of those folding iron boards?
00:48:32It's something we have to evaluate.
00:48:34Yeah, let's, like...
00:48:35I think...
00:48:36Let's just...
00:48:37How about we focus on...
00:48:38I think we need to focus...
00:48:39Think about bathroom.
00:48:40Good call, Jesse.
00:48:41The main bathrooms will eventually be surrounded
00:48:44by three bedrooms,
00:48:45but the starting point is just a shell.
00:48:48We met our builders on day one.
00:48:51Um...
00:48:52Local old one-faggy boys.
00:48:55Hey, how's it going?
00:48:56Hey!
00:48:57Hello!
00:48:58How are you?
00:48:59Nice to meet you.
00:49:00We felt we had a really good head start
00:49:01by having some local guys
00:49:02who did all their work on the island.
00:49:04We were lucky enough for them to jump on board.
00:49:06So this is currently the bathroom.
00:49:08I think this is where the door's meant to be.
00:49:11We have a toilet, shower...
00:49:13Toilet's there, so yeah.
00:49:14...for vanity.
00:49:15Okay.
00:49:16I want you to walk into the bathroom
00:49:18and feel it's just a timeless design,
00:49:21that it's not going to date.
00:49:22It's not something that's overly trendy.
00:49:24It's something that will see you through lots of decades
00:49:28and still be just as beautiful as it was today.
00:49:31Jessie and Paige plan on using a green feature tile
00:49:34across two walls,
00:49:36enclosing the shower and the bath.
00:49:38And Paige will deploy her coastal grandma aesthetic
00:49:41through traditional trimmings like the tapware and basin.
00:49:49Hello!
00:49:50Yes.
00:49:51Hi, I'm Doug.
00:49:52How are you?
00:49:53Nice to meet you.
00:49:54Nice to meet you.
00:49:55How are you, Doug?
00:49:56I'm Chris.
00:49:57Nice to meet you, man.
00:49:58Our builder's a DS build, Doug and Chris.
00:50:00Who appeared for a very brief time
00:50:03in Stephanie Gian's house last year, actually.
00:50:09He was the interim support, interim help,
00:50:12before their long-term builder came on.
00:50:14Wow, look at this place.
00:50:15Yeah, it's all happening.
00:50:17And it's bathroom.
00:50:18We're on.
00:50:19Yeah, let's do it.
00:50:20Got the right vibes straight away.
00:50:22Is it entry?
00:50:23Essentially entry, yep.
00:50:24Entry here, yep.
00:50:25Living and dining and kitchen.
00:50:27Yep.
00:50:28Essentially, this is roughly where we're working this week.
00:50:31Yeah, there's a bath, a shower and then a vanity.
00:50:34Yep.
00:50:35But, I mean, it's a pretty decent-sized bathroom.
00:50:37Pretty big.
00:50:38It's not too bad.
00:50:39Yeah, it is pretty big.
00:50:40We need a point of difference.
00:50:41The first room on the block is a big deal.
00:50:43It's the chance to imprint your style
00:50:45and the best way to do that is with a buzzword.
00:50:49I definitely think we've got a really clear vision.
00:50:51How do you do this?
00:50:53Modern Mediterranean.
00:50:54Modern Terranian.
00:50:55Yeah.
00:50:56You know, some curves, organic shapes.
00:50:59Natural materials.
00:51:00Natural materials.
00:51:02It's really cool.
00:51:03I like it.
00:51:04I've come around on it.
00:51:05You didn't like it at first.
00:51:06No, I didn't love it at first.
00:51:07Why?
00:51:08Well, it's not my...
00:51:09I didn't think it was my style.
00:51:10I couldn't picture it.
00:51:11What's your style?
00:51:12I don't know.
00:51:13I don't have a style.
00:51:14I wear a white T-shirt.
00:51:15Trestle tables and, like, plastic garage chairs.
00:51:19Living beyond your means.
00:51:25Courtney and Grant aim to inspire Malta holiday vibes
00:51:28in their main bathroom.
00:51:30The tiles will be natural stone
00:51:32and one corner will be curved
00:51:34to create a rustic island resort style.
00:51:40There's a lot of differences on this year's block.
00:51:43Firstly, we're on an island.
00:51:45Secondly, there was no house-decided challenge,
00:51:48just a penguin to pick.
00:51:51Thirdly, the houses are not all the same.
00:51:56Houses one to four have long, narrow floor plans
00:51:59and above each garage will be a mezzanine
00:52:01with a fourth bedroom.
00:52:03House five is an existing two-storey home
00:52:06where upstairs is the kitchen, living, dining
00:52:09and a fourth bedroom.
00:52:11But the room they're focusing on this week
00:52:13is the downstairs bathroom.
00:52:17How you feeling?
00:52:19I'm feeling very, um...
00:52:22Overwhelmed?
00:52:24Positive?
00:52:26Excited?
00:52:31Like, throwing up.
00:52:33Sounds like the perfect time to call in the cavalry
00:52:36because I've got some great news for all the teams.
00:52:39Hello, hello, hello.
00:52:41Scotty.
00:52:42Oh, hello.
00:52:43Have you met Tom?
00:52:44No, we haven't.
00:52:45Not properly.
00:52:46How you going? Tom, nice to meet you.
00:52:47How are you, mate?
00:52:48Hi, I'm Mimi.
00:52:49Hi, Mimi, how you going?
00:52:50Nice to meet you.
00:52:51Great news is that I am paying for all your plumbing
00:52:55and electrical.
00:52:56Thank you!
00:52:59So when you're doing a wet area,
00:53:00Tommy and Marty and the team will be here
00:53:04to do all your plumbing.
00:53:05Now, have you looked at your plans?
00:53:07Yes, we have.
00:53:08Have you worked out the biggest problem you've got?
00:53:11What's above you, do you reckon?
00:53:13A roof, a ceiling, another story.
00:53:16What rooms above it?
00:53:19Another bathroom.
00:53:20Yes, there's another bathroom.
00:53:24So what does that mean for you guys?
00:53:26This is what you've got to learn on the job, right?
00:53:28You've got to plan ahead.
00:53:30So before you put your ceiling in here,
00:53:32for this bathroom, you need to plumb that up.
00:53:35So you've got to plan two rooms today.
00:53:37You've got to lay out this bathroom
00:53:39and you've got to lay out that bathroom.
00:53:41One of the first major obstacles that we had to face
00:53:47and we were stressed.
00:53:48It's just the fact that Mimi has to leave me by myself,
00:53:51go for a two-hour drive,
00:53:53go for an 11 o'clock appointment,
00:53:56a two o'clock appointment,
00:53:58and then a two-hour drive back.
00:54:00It's almost like I'll be solo all day.
00:54:02So I went off to Reece in Heidelberg.
00:54:06What's going on, Christian?
00:54:07Oh, just a bit of a tough day one.
00:54:10Very tough.
00:54:11The curveball got thrown at us.
00:54:13I'm quite positive Mimi will be like,
00:54:15Ah!
00:54:16Ah!
00:54:22Carry on my wayward son
00:54:26I know, I said Phillip Island is a short drive from Melbourne.
00:54:30To Melbourne, let's do this.
00:54:33There'll be peace when you are done
00:54:37Well, I may have talked that up a bit.
00:54:3977 kilometres.
00:54:43OK.
00:54:44Don't you cry no more
00:54:48Sun's out, full day of road tripping.
00:54:51Positive thoughts.
00:54:53Positive thoughts.
00:54:55Positive thoughts.
00:54:58I'm very capable.
00:55:01I'm very capable of doing this.
00:55:06OK?
00:55:07Maybe we did.
00:55:08Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
00:55:09Sorry, I'm trying to.
00:55:10I literally went the wrong way because I'm on the phone.
00:55:14Well, can we just let me get out of Phillip Island?
00:55:18Because I've just added so much time to my thing.
00:55:21Yeah, go, go, go.
00:55:22Oh my God, I missed it again.
00:55:25Just call me when you can.
00:55:26Oh my God.
00:55:28Chill, chill, chill.
00:55:29Call me when you can.
00:55:30I'll just listen to Ariana.
00:55:32She'll make me feel better.
00:55:33Baby, I got love for thee
00:55:35So deep inside of me, I don't know
00:55:37Right on to Heidelberg Road.
00:55:39Woo!
00:55:40Rhys Heidelberg.
00:55:42Coming right at ya.
00:55:44Coming right
00:55:46I was very overwhelmed.
00:55:50One, long drive.
00:55:51Two, don't know what the hell I'm doing.
00:55:56Good morning.
00:55:57Welcome.
00:55:58Good morning.
00:55:59Oh my God, it's still morning.
00:56:00It feels like it's been a week already.
00:56:01It must have been busy already.
00:56:02I know.
00:56:03But the staff at Rhys were incredible.
00:56:06Okay, this is the plan that I had for you guys.
00:56:08Where did you want the bath at?
00:56:10There?
00:56:11This is magic.
00:56:13Christian and Mimi have the biggest bathroom to work with this week.
00:56:16They're using the space to create a luxurious bath and shower zone
00:56:20with a bespoke timber ceiling featuring inbuilt lights over the vanity.
00:56:25I've had a lot of self-doubt in how I am as a person
00:56:29and how people perceive me.
00:56:31But I feel like I'm really sure of myself on the block.
00:56:34Yes.
00:56:36Someone like that.
00:56:38We definitely love an arch.
00:56:40Yeah, so we like the idea of the two separates above each person.
00:56:44Yes, definitely.
00:56:45Okay.
00:56:46That's the other option, but it's a lot bolder.
00:56:48I'm a bold girl, so that is definitely something I don't mind.
00:56:52And I say, can I have this?
00:56:54This, this, this?
00:56:55Lock it in.
00:56:56Lock it in?
00:56:57Perfect, done.
00:56:58And I packed it up.
00:56:59Thank God.
00:57:00I think that I'm evolving, and it's happening on the block.
00:57:05The arch theme that you're going for.
00:57:07Also taking in his first Reece experience is IT guy Hape.
00:57:11So the key item, obviously the bathroom, is a bath, a banging bath.
00:57:16So with the bath, Chattanooriki definitely wants a flute-type bath.
00:57:21Yeah, flute style, yeah.
00:57:23I wanted a flute bath.
00:57:24Flutes.
00:57:25Boy, did they have a flute bath there.
00:57:27Oh, this style.
00:57:28Yes.
00:57:29And it's all around as well.
00:57:31How much are we looking at here?
00:57:33Well, it's looking good, and you're looking good in it.
00:57:35It's probably, it's one of the most expensive ones we do have
00:57:38at around the $12,000 mark.
00:57:40So Rick and you have some expensive take.
00:57:4412 Gs?
00:57:45But look at it.
00:57:46It looks like it's worth it.
00:57:47Yeah, you're not wrong.
00:57:48Righto.
00:57:50Let's do it.
00:57:52Do it.
00:57:53Lock it in.
00:57:54Lock it in, mate.
00:57:55Let's get it on.
00:57:56Let's do it.
00:57:57Beautiful.
00:57:59The 12 grand bath will be the star of Hayden and Ricky's main bathroom,
00:58:03who are creating a scandy beach house with a light timber vanity
00:58:07and sage green feature tiles.
00:58:12I didn't want to bathe you.
00:58:13That's good.
00:58:14You'd want to come out clean.
00:58:23I'm seeing Rhys.
00:58:25Yeah, I see the blue and the red.
00:58:27My God, I actually made it.
00:58:29Holy hell.
00:58:34So when I got to Rhys, I knew I had a plan.
00:58:38Black.
00:58:40Gimme black.
00:58:41Do you have any inspiration or anything that you'd like to run through
00:58:44with me to begin with?
00:58:45Black, black, black, black, black, black, black.
00:58:47All black?
00:58:48Yeah.
00:58:49Easy.
00:58:50Is it?
00:58:51The only thing Brad said to me is our bath needs to have an overflow.
00:58:55I don't know what that means.
00:58:57I've got a setting that has the bath and the vanity all together.
00:59:00She showed me a really luxe black matte bath with a white inside.
00:59:07So what do you think about that one there?
00:59:09Yeah, I like.
00:59:10It was the most perfect bath for me.
00:59:13Matching basin.
00:59:15Do you like that kind of sort of shape?
00:59:17I then had my whole vision planned out.
00:59:19And black and then black, black, black, black, black.
00:59:21Black, black, black, black, black, black, black, black.
00:59:24Amazing.
00:59:25With that bath there, your waist can be black or white?
00:59:29Black.
00:59:30Black, done.
00:59:31I was like, cool, so it comes with an overflow?
00:59:34Oh, okay, sure.
00:59:35So your bath has to have an overflow?
00:59:36Yeah.
00:59:37Okay.
00:59:38So this is where it becomes a little bit different?
00:59:39She was like, no.
00:59:40I was like, oh, okay, so we'll just buy it separately?
00:59:45Apparently that's not a thing.
00:59:46You can't just buy a separate overflow for a bath.
00:59:49So this little space here is for if you left your water running
00:59:53and it overflowed, it would drain back out through the waist?
00:59:56Hold on, let me make a phone call.
00:59:58Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
01:00:00That's something just to double check.
01:00:02So she rings me and says...
01:00:05Husband?
01:00:07Wifey?
01:00:09Why do we need an overflow on the bath?
01:00:12Because there's no floor waste.
01:00:14Okay, so we're having a floor waste because my bath
01:00:16doesn't come with an overflow.
01:00:19Babe, the underslab's not done to take one.
01:00:23Bradley, I'm telling you, the bath that I want
01:00:29doesn't come with an overflow.
01:00:32And I'm not having a white bath.
01:00:42I'm now mad.
01:00:45So now it's my job to try and make what she's picked...
01:00:50Work.
01:00:51...if it's possible.
01:00:53So I'm running around like a headless chook now,
01:00:55trying to get the plumbers in to see if it can be done.
01:00:59Do you need me?
01:01:00Yeah.
01:01:01What do you need?
01:01:02Mrs. is being a pain.
01:01:04The only bath she wants doesn't have an overflow.
01:01:08Right.
01:01:09Can we get a floor waste?
01:01:12If we cut the slab up, anything's possible.
01:01:15I know.
01:01:16It's just time.
01:01:18Time's not your friend here.
01:01:20Just got to cut the slab up, cut a junction into your drain.
01:01:24Put it all back.
01:01:25Put it all back together.
01:01:29You got to think of your time too.
01:01:34She won't talk to me now.
01:01:37She wants what she wants and then it doesn't work.
01:01:40But she knows that it's something that I would normally
01:01:42be able to fix.
01:01:45So then she knows it's possible, which then lets her try.
01:01:51Where's the bath going to be over there?
01:01:52I've got Tommy and Dan in here.
01:01:55Mm-hmm.
01:01:56Tell me you've found another bath.
01:01:57No, I haven't found a different bath.
01:01:59No, not possible.
01:02:02Well, the difference is not finishing or a bath.
01:02:07It's a bit dramatic.
01:02:11While having a trade on the block is a big advantage,
01:02:14being a stylist is just as valuable.
01:02:17I got my mind set on you.
01:02:21An owner of her own interiors business,
01:02:24House 2's Courtney is a force to be reckoned with.
01:02:27I got my mind set on you.
01:02:30We know our roles.
01:02:31Yeah.
01:02:32We know our roles.
01:02:33I couldn't style to save my life.
01:02:34Yeah.
01:02:35Courtney's really good at styling,
01:02:36so why not stick to what we're good at, right?
01:02:38And we did with Beaumont Tiles.
01:02:39That was our first appointment,
01:02:40which I guess set the aesthetic.
01:02:44Yeah, it did.
01:02:45Yeah.
01:02:46A very expensive aesthetic.
01:02:48But it's going to take money.
01:02:52I'm thinking a bit more of like a modern Mediterranean look.
01:02:55All right.
01:02:56Mediterranean.
01:02:57Mediterranean.
01:02:58So like earthy tones, natural materials.
01:03:01We got travertine tiles for the walls.
01:03:04All right.
01:03:05Travertine tiles for the walls.
01:03:07All right.
01:03:08So we're locking in the mineral travertine.
01:03:10Perfect.
01:03:11And they're real travertine tiles.
01:03:13Like, you know something,
01:03:14you get the cheap tiles and you see.
01:03:16What?
01:03:17Courtney doesn't look at a price tag.
01:03:19You don't.
01:03:23Four walls is $15,200.
01:03:25In tiles alone.
01:03:27That is a real price.
01:03:28Have they got the right dimensions?
01:03:30Yep.
01:03:31I'm happy to spend the money.
01:03:32Do three walls.
01:03:33So three walls, see what they come back with.
01:03:35And then what I didn't get here, but I will incorporate,
01:03:38is a nice marble on top of the vanity.
01:03:41So that will give like a bit of a contrast.
01:03:43And is the marble included in that price?
01:03:45No.
01:03:46Marble is not included in that price.
01:03:48Don't give me those eyes.
01:03:51We're not going to be complaining when everyone's like,
01:03:54wow, that's a really beautiful premium bathroom.
01:03:59Chantel?
01:04:01Yes.
01:04:02Next question, black toilet.
01:04:04We don't have a black toilet.
01:04:06And Chantel's like, no black toilets.
01:04:10It's not a thing.
01:04:14Bradley.
01:04:15I can't get a black toilet.
01:04:18So the whole thing's out the window anyway.
01:04:21And I was like, I don't want to use the bathroom anymore.
01:04:23I don't even want to do a bathroom
01:04:25because I can't get a black toilet.
01:04:28I'm done.
01:04:32My whole vision has just been annihilated.
01:04:36However, I'm just going to have to keep looking
01:04:39and searching for what I might be able to find.
01:04:42I'm not going to give up.
01:04:50Surely I'm close.
01:04:53I was stuck in the car forever.
01:04:55So I was not only late to Reese.
01:04:57Reese have a really good 3D planner.
01:04:59So we're going to mock up the room
01:05:01and have a finished bathroom in approximately half an hour.
01:05:03Amazing.
01:05:04That actually is such a relief.
01:05:06I was also late to Beaumont.
01:05:10I got there about 15 minutes before closing.
01:05:13What do you do with that?
01:05:15Hi.
01:05:16Hi, hello.
01:05:17I'm Michelle.
01:05:18What I did with that is I told the lovely Michelle at Beaumont,
01:05:23I would really like a feature tile, something maybe green.
01:05:26I'm also not opposed to kind of like fishtail sort of pattern.
01:05:30She showed me what she had in stock.
01:05:32So something like that is a beautiful mottled marble.
01:05:35This is really spot on, to be honest.
01:05:37Oh, that's good.
01:05:38I really love this.
01:05:39And then I look at the beautiful floor tiles
01:05:42and the tiles that we were going to do
01:05:44on the rest of the three walls.
01:05:46And I go, great, that one.
01:05:48And I go, great, that one.
01:05:50This tile with this feature wall.
01:05:54What goes wrong?
01:05:55Not in stock.
01:05:57We don't have that tile.
01:05:58Really?
01:05:59OK.
01:06:00Can I not come back tomorrow morning?
01:06:02No, we have to put the orders in today.
01:06:03Have to tonight?
01:06:04I'm sorry.
01:06:05It's because they pick tomorrow for delivery Wednesday.
01:06:07Yeah, OK.
01:06:08Yeah.
01:06:09Can I take this over there?
01:06:10Yeah, of course.
01:06:11And my mood plummeted.
01:06:15And they don't have anything that I want in stock.
01:06:18And they're being like super rude as well.
01:06:20Sorry?
01:06:21They're just being super rude.
01:06:23Really?
01:06:24Yeah.
01:06:25So I picked a tile.
01:06:26I wasn't sure if I was 100% sold on it.
01:06:29But I was like, this is the tile I'm getting.
01:06:31That's good.
01:06:32No matter what we do, we make it work.
01:06:34I knew it was going to be beautiful.
01:06:38It's going down.
01:06:40I'm yelling timber.
01:06:42You better move.
01:06:44You better dance.
01:06:46As the block is now officially a construction site,
01:06:49it's sadly no longer safe to camp on the concrete.
01:06:52So I've come up with a plan B.
01:06:54I heard that you had a bit of a rough night on the slab.
01:06:57Was it a bit rough?
01:06:58Yeah, Scotty came around and informed us
01:07:00that we would no longer be sleeping on our concrete slab.
01:07:04Come with me and I'll show you the site.
01:07:06All right.
01:07:07And you can relocate.
01:07:08OK.
01:07:09Come on.
01:07:10Sounded like a pretty prime location, actually.
01:07:12And to be fair, I was just happy to be off the concrete slab.
01:07:16The new campsite is right next door,
01:07:19through the trees, beside the dam.
01:07:22Have a look at this campsite.
01:07:24Wow.
01:07:25OK.
01:07:26Oh, this is a bit better.
01:07:28There's a walk.
01:07:29Look, there's wildlife.
01:07:30Oh, there is.
01:07:31Paradise.
01:07:32Yep, it is.
01:07:33I'm liking it.
01:07:35Had to pack up the tent we'd just set up the night before
01:07:39and move it over to the billboard.
01:07:41To the lagoon.
01:07:47We had to move our tent from our construction site
01:07:50to out on the pond.
01:07:52Which was so nice.
01:07:54Yeah.
01:07:55Christian and Mimi helped us move our tent.
01:07:56Just all at once.
01:07:57Everything inside, we're like, we are not taking this down.
01:08:00Everyone grab a corner, pick it up on the lake.
01:08:03Now we've got water views.
01:08:05Yeah, we've got lake views now.
01:08:07Mm.
01:08:13So as the sun begins to set on the first day of the block,
01:08:16our blockheads settle into their new home, Tent City.
01:08:21And it wouldn't be a proper start to the block
01:08:23without yours truly throwing a barbie.
01:08:26Hey!
01:08:28Oh, it's Scotty.
01:08:29Does this happen every night, Scotty?
01:08:31Not every night.
01:08:32You're very privileged.
01:08:34Scotty did put on a barbecue in our new digs.
01:08:36It was a delicious barbecue.
01:08:38And the man can tong.
01:08:39What?
01:08:40He can turn a snag.
01:08:41He's a tong man.
01:08:42So he got his tong on and cooked us up some snags.
01:08:48Thanks, mate.
01:08:49Appreciate it.
01:08:50Snag?
01:08:51Yeah, that'd be great.
01:08:54This is so yummy.
01:08:55Thanks, Scotty.
01:08:57That first night, it's like, OK, yep, we're on the block now.
01:09:01We're not just coasting.
01:09:03It's like game on straight away.
01:09:05But having that barbecue was a nice wind down for us.
01:09:09Having Scotty come and just having a barbecue
01:09:12with all the other contestants, just sitting around,
01:09:14getting to know each other a bit better.
01:09:16It was a great way to end our day.
01:09:18You've really hit the block now, haven't you?
01:09:19Like, you're eating a steak like Fred Flintstone.
01:09:22Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:09:23Just got to have a nice family dinner, family block dinner.
01:09:26It was good.
01:09:27We have known each other for, I was counting back the other day,
01:09:30I thought it was 20 years, but it's actually,
01:09:32I think it's probably 23.
01:09:34I think some personalities bring the best out of another personality,
01:09:38and that's sort of how our friendship...
01:09:40We bounce off each other big time.
01:09:41And he's my family.
01:09:43I don't really have a family,
01:09:45and I haven't for probably about 16 years.
01:09:48My early years was a bit rough.
01:09:51There were some issues going on at home.
01:09:53Alcohol and domestic violence was pretty rife,
01:09:56and I got some advice from Victorian police
01:09:59that I should probably find somewhere else better to live.
01:10:03People sort of say, you know, it must have been hard.
01:10:06It's never hard to live in a really tough environment
01:10:09that you don't enjoy being in.
01:10:11So it wasn't like I was leaving my family,
01:10:14cos for mine, you don't treat your family like that.
01:10:19So I really heavily invest in my mates.
01:10:22I love them, care for them, I'm loyal to them,
01:10:24and I give them everything, the same you would do for your family.
01:10:28I know it's a bit cliche,
01:10:30but I would love to be half responsible
01:10:33for helping him be able to provide a really life-changing life
01:10:38for his newborn baby and his wife, to be fair,
01:10:41and then that would definitely guarantee me
01:10:43a spot at the Christmas table for years to come, for sure.
01:10:46There's absolutely no doubt in my mind.
01:10:54What better way to start day two on the block
01:10:56than an exclusive waterfront campsite
01:10:59next to a construction site?
01:11:04Day two begins.
01:11:06Another day in paradise.
01:11:10Morning. Morning.
01:11:12How was day one?
01:11:14Stressful.
01:11:16What's planned for today, then?
01:11:18I'm re-shopping and re-buying everything that I purchased yesterday.
01:11:22I was just like, I'm not going to stop.
01:11:24Like, I'm going to keep trying to get what I actually want,
01:11:27and present a room that doesn't represent me.
01:11:29And I say me because Brad doesn't get a choice, so...
01:11:33But, yeah, so now I'm hoping that things are in stock
01:11:37and I can make some phone calls and make some changes or...
01:11:41I don't know what I'll do if I can't.
01:11:46The linchpin of Kylie's vision is the elusive black toilet,
01:11:50and she thinks she's sourced one online,
01:11:52as long as plumber Tom can make it work.
01:11:55Have you bought this?
01:11:57Not yet, because I needed to know, so that's good.
01:11:59Yeah, we can make it work.
01:12:01I'll make sure I get it. You need this for your roughing.
01:12:03Yeah, I know. You need that before you're waterproof.
01:12:05Yeah.
01:12:06Yesterday, everywhere I went, it was like, no, no black,
01:12:08can't have that, can't have this.
01:12:10Tuesday is going to be my day.
01:12:12I've ended up stumbling across a perfect tile with Constantino.
01:12:16They actually, fortunately, have in stock the large black tile
01:12:22in a marble look that has this really cool grey flex through it.
01:12:25And finally, a black bath with an overflow.
01:12:29Freestanding.
01:12:31Look, it says in stock.
01:12:32Yes, so I've got your contact,
01:12:35because I'm chasing a bath that I'm hoping you have.
01:12:38Look, it's the matte black with the white...
01:12:41The Marietta. Marietta.
01:12:43With the overflow.
01:12:46Yeah, we've got 12.
01:12:48I'll take all 12, though.
01:12:51No, I just need one for now.
01:12:53Got it from Shots.
01:12:58Great, going to be delivered Friday. Amazing.
01:13:05Where's my insulation order?
01:13:10Nothing was going our way on Tuesday.
01:13:12I've noticed everyone has the insulation but me.
01:13:15It was like, okay, bathrooms are hard.
01:13:19Hopefully it's not halfway back to CSR on the truck,
01:13:22because no one didn't even see the truck come by.
01:13:25Yeah, that was the iceberg under the water.
01:13:30Timber should have been here. He told me 8 o'clock.
01:13:33We've just lost three hours not having the timber here.
01:13:35I know.
01:13:37Unfortunately, after chasing up a few times,
01:13:40our timber order didn't come until about midday.
01:13:43Timber's coming now. I spoke to the truckie from yesterday.
01:13:46He answered his phone. He's like, it's on its way now, mate.
01:13:48Perfect.
01:13:49So that set us back a long way.
01:13:52I put blame on myself,
01:13:54maybe getting my timber order in too late on the Monday.
01:13:57Jesse is a very experienced carpenter
01:13:59who's worked on many high-end homes,
01:14:01so he should know that if you don't get your order in on time,
01:14:05your timber won't arrive in time.
01:14:10What's happened? Your timber delivery is finally here?
01:14:12Finally here. So it's rocked up,
01:14:15which is good for the boys.
01:14:18Yeah, that Tuesday was hectic,
01:14:20and I think I just let it get to me a bit too much, for sure.
01:14:24Paige, on the other hand, is experiencing a very different day.
01:14:28We're all set. Drive safely.
01:14:30I will. Thank you.
01:14:34She's heading to Melbourne,
01:14:35got lights and styling supplies from Freedom.
01:14:38I have been very confident this week.
01:14:40Just doing my thing.
01:14:42I'm looking for the bathroom area.
01:14:46You've had the confidence just to make choices all week.
01:14:50Oh, that smells so good.
01:14:52I was having a really confident week,
01:14:54and I was so happy that that was my first week on the block.
01:14:57I am at Beacon to sort out all of our lights
01:15:01for our very first bathroom today.
01:15:03So it's a smart downlight,
01:15:05so it runs through their Google programming.
01:15:07I mean, I think I was an absolute sucker
01:15:10for the Google automated lighting.
01:15:12So, hey, Google, turn on the bathroom light.
01:15:15You can have all different colours if you want to.
01:15:17Hey, Google, turn the lights to cool white.
01:15:19That's kind of really cool.
01:15:22Yeah, I felt amazing.
01:15:24And I'm not usually a positive person.
01:15:26Really? Huh?
01:15:30My wonderful fiancé.
01:15:33Hi, Paige.
01:15:34Hello, you.
01:15:35Where are you?
01:15:36I am 35 minutes away from the site.
01:15:42Cool.
01:15:43I was going... Huh?
01:15:45I'm dying to see you.
01:15:46I'm dying to see you too.
01:15:48It's so hard being away from you.
01:15:50We're supposed to have, like...
01:15:52We're planning to have sheets up today.
01:15:54We're not even going to get walls up today, you know?
01:15:58We finished Tuesday with subfloor still incomplete.
01:16:03Walls weren't up, so that was a bit of a shock to the system.
01:16:07I don't know what we're going to do this week.
01:16:09I don't know if we're going to finish it.
01:16:11Finish the room?
01:16:12Yep.
01:16:14It was the start of it all.
01:16:15Start of it all, really, yeah.
01:16:20Baby.
01:16:21Babe, we're coming.
01:16:22Where are you?
01:16:24What do you mean, where am I?
01:16:26Are you far away?
01:16:28Far away from the block, yes.
01:16:30Oh, we're just getting unstuck everywhere.
01:16:32Anyway, I'll talk to you about it when I get there.
01:16:34Yeah.
01:16:35Love you, boy.
01:16:36Love you. Bye.
01:16:37While Carly has had laser focus on obtaining her black items,
01:16:41she hasn't paid much attention to how they would all fit into the floor plan.
01:16:45And the selections of a large vanity and a big bath
01:16:48have thrown a spanner in the works.
01:16:51So, while Carly has been out,
01:16:53Brad has swapped the toilet and the bath in the floor plan
01:16:56in order to fit everything in.
01:17:01I guess when I have a vision, I have a vision,
01:17:04and that's all I want.
01:17:06I don't like it.
01:17:08Your 1800 vanity will hit the bath.
01:17:12It doesn't fit.
01:17:13She had been trying to build a bathroom from a picture at Reeves
01:17:19that had a far larger dimension.
01:17:21The scale was wrong.
01:17:23Than what I was working with.
01:17:27Whatever.
01:17:29Anyways, all I was trying to do was make your bath fit in a room.
01:17:35With my 1.8 meter vanity.
01:17:37Yeah, so just monster vanity, big bath,
01:17:42but it's just not working.
01:17:45I've been trying to make this work every step of the way,
01:17:50and then something changes, and then the whole thing shifts.
01:17:53It's just not working.
01:17:55I don't think you understand at all
01:17:57how many times I've come down here and said,
01:17:59you are way behind.
01:18:01Tomorrow you need to just be flat stick.
01:18:05No matter how much I tried to explain it to you,
01:18:07you were too hot-headed to listen.
01:18:10I'm not having the toilet there.
01:18:13And then I eventually compromised
01:18:16if we could move the toilet behind the door,
01:18:20and we were deleting the bath.
01:18:22Delete the bath. That doesn't make sense.
01:18:25OK.
01:18:29Bath's out. Bath's out. Get rid of that.
01:18:32And then I was fine with the rest of it.
01:18:34You know what? Just do it.
01:18:36I'm bowing out.
01:18:39Like, I've picked everything,
01:18:41so then you can just deal with getting crucified for the layout.
01:18:47Tomorrow night...
01:18:49I just feel like I'm failing.
01:18:51..the pressure becomes too much for Chippy Jess.
01:18:54It just all came, like, crashing down.
01:18:57I can't get it off my head that it's, like,
01:18:59we're going to present, like, a room with nothing in it.
01:19:02Also, Hayden gets a special delivery.
01:19:05Sophie thinks I'm in early labour.
01:19:08I'm going to be an uncle!
01:19:10She's going to be an uncle, Scotty!
01:19:13Before everyone gives it all they've got...
01:19:16Let's cheat it. Come on. Let's go.
01:19:18..in the lead-up to their first bathroom reveal.
01:19:20This is unbelievable.
01:19:23This is really successful.
01:19:24So boring.
01:19:26I'm coming from home to go to home.
01:19:28Coming from home to continue to make money in property.
01:19:31Ooh, horns are going to lock on this one.
