00:17:05Get it done, get it right, in the videos, let it rip.
00:17:08Whoop!
00:17:10In House 5, after hanging the vanity too high for the plumbing,
00:17:14Christian and Mimi's team have worked hard to fix the problem.
00:17:17How thick's the bowl?
00:17:191.30, so now we know our stone is, what, 12mm?
00:17:2212mm, yeah. Let's make it 10mm.
00:17:24That, fellas, is top of your cabinet,
00:17:27which is gonna work out fine, cos your stone will cover that.
00:17:30It wasn't a huge issue, cos all they had to do
00:17:32was redraw a couple holes on the vanity unit,
00:17:34so it probably only set us back about half an hour.
00:17:37But because the vanity didn't get installed when it did,
00:17:39the plumbers were then delayed, the sparkies were then delayed,
00:17:42so every time something goes wrong, it sort of has a ripple effect.
00:17:46No biggie. I'll keep smiling.
00:17:52Over in House 2,
00:17:55Foreman Dan has a special delivery to dump on our Sydneysiders.
00:17:59Why look so awfully tragic?
00:18:01Put on a happy face.
00:18:03Whoa!
00:18:04Smiling can work like magic.
00:18:06Hey!
00:18:07Put on a happy face.
00:18:09Oh, no, don't, don't, don't, don't!
00:18:11Don't drop it!
00:18:12Oh, I got it.
00:18:13So tell me, Grant, who's ultimately responsible
00:18:15for the storage of items on your site?
00:18:19Are you pointing to me?
00:18:20What a gorgeous toilet.
00:18:22No, don't, don't sit on it.
00:18:24That's what makes us feel better.
00:18:26I need it, I love, I need it.
00:18:29Next door, Victorian plumber Ricky is holding down the fort,
00:18:32while his team-mate Hayden is still off-site
00:18:34with his newborn baby.
00:18:36So I meant I was going to have to do double the painting.
00:18:39It meant I was going to have to do double the cleaning.
00:18:42There's a massive difference between two and four hands.
00:18:45Yo, I'll be back in about half-hour.
00:18:49No, I'm not going to the day spa.
00:18:51I'm going to the beach.
00:18:57I felt like my brain needed a bit of a refresh.
00:19:01I got all, like, dust up in my sinuses.
00:19:05So I nicked down to the beach quickly
00:19:07and I know that the best way to get that dust out of there
00:19:10is to do a backflip off a pier into the salty water.
00:19:20That was some of the worst gymnastics you've probably ever seen.
00:19:25I'm refreshed.
00:19:26Got no more dust in my sinuses.
00:19:28I'm cleared and now I'm ready to go.
00:19:30And now I'm ready to go back and hit a massive night
00:19:32and finish the bathroom off, so I'm feeling good.
00:19:47So we got all the plumbing fitted off.
00:19:50Electricians did their thing.
00:19:52Tiles came up pretty well.
00:19:54I've got to paint all these lining boards.
00:19:56I've got to finish painting the door.
00:19:58I've got to finish some grouting.
00:20:00I've got to caulk the whole bathroom,
00:20:02clean it and then style it.
00:20:04I'm going until this is done
00:20:06cos I'm not having Hayden come back
00:20:08and find out that we didn't finish the bathroom,
00:20:11that it turned out ****
00:20:15or I failed it.
00:20:17So in my head, I was just like,
00:20:19don't stop cos we're tired, stop cos we're done.
00:20:22I'm not going to lie to you,
00:20:24I'm going to be concerned in my painting talents.
00:20:26Most of my paintings have been in art class in Year 9,
00:20:30but how hard can it be, right?
00:20:36We've put a lot of effort into this room.
00:20:38We have, a lot of sweat.
00:20:40How hot was it while you guys were painting?
00:20:42Holy ****.
00:20:44Do you want to describe what I looked like, Courtney?
00:20:47Grant was like a giant sponge.
00:20:50You've got beads of sweat on your head.
00:20:52I know, I'm a fat boy.
00:20:54I stunk, like that was ridiculous.
00:20:57It was filthy.
00:21:01All around the bottom has to be black,
00:21:03it's just not the V-Lux, that's all white.
00:21:06I will be down to the wire, I'll make sure I finish.
00:21:11Put in every effort to get it done.
00:21:13Every effort, mums get **** done.
00:21:17But over at House 1,
00:21:19Jessie and Paige still have a mountain to climb.
00:21:22I'm still hopeful that we're going to finish the room.
00:21:25It wasn't until 3am Sunday,
00:21:28that's when I went,
00:21:30maybe not.
00:21:34I'm just so sick of the constant
00:21:37doom and gloom from you.
00:21:40Like you haven't been positive at all
00:21:42this whole **** week, it's been tiring.
00:21:48I know there's a tonne of **** to do.
00:21:50I'm not complaining about it like you are.
00:22:11Still like it?
00:22:14I won't be as soon as you start talking.
00:22:16Good.
00:22:17Mate, come here.
00:22:18Missed ya.
00:22:19You alright?
00:22:20Yeah, right.
00:22:21You good?
00:22:22I'm good now.
00:22:23Daddy's back.
00:22:24Not until the painting was done.
00:22:26But yeah, thanks man.
00:22:27No, no.
00:22:28I'm good now.
00:22:29Yeah?
00:22:30Hard to leave the family this morning to come back?
00:22:33Yeah.
00:22:34Didn't want to leave.
00:22:36Definitely didn't want to let go of it.
00:22:38I said to Charles,
00:22:40we're doing this for a reason.
00:22:43It's not going to be easy,
00:22:45but I'm going to do it.
00:22:47We're going to do it.
00:22:49100% bro.
00:22:50Welcome, mate.
00:22:51Do you want to come have a look?
00:22:52Yeah, man.
00:22:53I'd love to.
00:22:54Let's go.
00:22:55Alright, you rock up.
00:22:56You come back.
00:22:57What do you think about the work you did?
00:22:59Rick absolutely smashed it.
00:23:03Wow.
00:23:04Those tiles are sick.
00:23:06Mate, would you have styled it any better?
00:23:08It's done bloody well.
00:23:09Yeah?
00:23:10Yeah.
00:23:11Maybe you should leave me alone more often.
00:23:13Rick did an amazing job.
00:23:16I was shocked.
00:23:17I didn't want to touch anything.
00:23:18Nicely done, bro.
00:23:21Couldn't be more proud of him.
00:23:22He delivered.
00:23:25Ricky.
00:23:26Yeah, pass us a rag.
00:23:28I'll keep cleaning.
00:23:29Oh.
00:23:30Scotty.
00:23:31Daddy's home.
00:23:32Daddy's home, mate.
00:23:33Uncle Scotty.
00:23:34I'm back.
00:23:35I'm not coming in.
00:23:36I've got my boots on.
00:23:37No worries, mate.
00:23:38Welcome back.
00:23:39He made it back, mate.
00:23:40You had nothing to do with this bathroom.
00:23:41Nothing at all.
00:23:42You did not build a bathroom.
00:23:43You built a human.
00:23:44Hey, I did.
00:23:45I did.
00:23:46Yep.
00:23:47You built a human.
00:23:48I built a human.
00:23:49So I thought you can come with me.
00:23:50Yep.
00:23:51And do Tools Down.
00:23:52Let's do it.
00:23:53Because you're really not a contestant at the moment.
00:23:56Scotty gave me the absolute honour of calling out Tools Down, and I don't think that's ever
00:24:02happened on any other block series ever before.
00:24:10I need a penguin shuffle.
00:24:12So tell me, guys, about the final hours on Approach to Tools Down.
00:24:16It wasn't chaotic.
00:24:17It was actually pretty fun.
00:24:18On the doorstop.
00:24:19What?
00:24:20Yeah.
00:24:21Doorstop.
00:24:22I don't think I've had to be on my hands and knees that much before.
00:24:24That's what I was like, do you get muscles in your knees?
00:24:27And now they, like, make sounds when I move.
00:24:30Are you guys happy with the result?
00:24:32Yeah, we are happy.
00:24:33Yeah.
00:24:34Actually, are you happy?
00:24:35Yeah, we did a lot better than I thought we were going to do.
00:24:36Oh, wow.
00:24:37Especially.
00:24:38My styling.
00:24:40I never want to see this room again.
00:24:43I can't believe we're actually here, considering all the obstacles that were thrown at us.
00:24:50But we made it.
00:24:51Ten seconds to Tools Down.
00:24:53Ten?
00:24:55I've waited my whole life to hear Scotty Cam tell me to put my tools down.
00:25:01And it's this muffled guy.
00:25:05Here we go.
00:25:06I feel pumped.
00:25:07It's one.
00:25:08Well, it's nine o'clock on the knocker.
00:25:09Let's do it.
00:25:10Okay, here we go.
00:25:12Tools down!
00:25:14Yay!
00:25:18Love you.
00:25:19Love you.
00:25:20Well done.
00:25:21Yes.
00:25:22Is that rags down too?
00:25:24Ah, ****.
00:25:28We put absolutely everything into finishing that bathroom and we fell short.
00:25:35At least it's half crowded.
00:25:37I felt really disappointed in myself.
00:25:40I felt like a failure.
00:25:41I felt incredibly inadequate.
00:25:43But I think once we moved past those emotions, we were really happy with our room.
00:25:49I'm so proud of it, even if it was incomplete.
00:25:52I think, like, you can't be mad.
00:25:54Like, that is beautiful, right?
00:25:55If you actually look at it just from here, like that.
00:25:59Whoa.
00:26:00Oh, my God.
00:26:01I can see it in the mirror.
00:26:02Look at that.
00:26:03Oh, yeah, ****.
00:26:04You can see it in the mirror.
00:26:05The block is a humbling experience.
00:26:14Hello.
00:26:15Hi.
00:26:16How you doing?
00:26:17Good.
00:26:18Better there, huh?
00:26:22Well, welcome, guys.
00:26:23You look fantastic.
00:26:24Thanks.
00:26:25Thanks, buddy.
00:26:27Hayden, Dad, you're back.
00:26:33Congratulations.
00:26:34Congratulations.
00:26:35Welcome to the world, Tilly.
00:26:36Fantastic.
00:26:37Appreciate it.
00:26:39I threw everything at you guys this week, didn't I?
00:26:41Yeah.
00:26:42You did.
00:26:43A bathroom in week one straight out of the blocks.
00:26:46And I'm guessing that you worked out building a bathroom on an island has its own set of challenges.
00:26:53And then, at the very last minute, I tossed in a heat wave.
00:26:58It was hot, wasn't it?
00:26:59Yeah, cheers for that, mate.
00:27:00It still is.
00:27:01Speaking of heating up,
00:27:02I've heated up the prizes this week, too.
00:27:05Starting with $10,000 from Ford.
00:27:08Cash.
00:27:09You've got to win that.
00:27:10Then, of course, we've tacked on a $30,000 Wolf Barbecue from E&S Trading.
00:27:15Absolutely magnificent.
00:27:17And, of course, $100,000 voucher to Cameridge Furniture.
00:27:24Extraordinary.
00:27:25Yeah, massive.
00:27:26It is game-changing, this prize.
00:27:28Yeah.
00:27:29So, let's find out who's going to win it with some feedback from the judges.
00:27:35Deciding who wins this week, and every week, are our judges.
00:27:40This is unbelievable.
00:27:59Amazing.
00:28:00Season 20.
00:28:02Crazy.
00:28:04OK, Jessie and Paige, you are first.
00:28:07Cos you're house one, you're going to be first every week.
00:28:09Yep.
00:28:10Awesome.
00:28:14I'm so happy.
00:28:15We're down near the coast.
00:28:17I know.
00:28:18Super relaxed, a bit more like home.
00:28:20Phillip Island, the hustle and bustle of Melbourne is just not us WA people.
00:28:24In the past.
00:28:25Is it?
00:28:26This week was, for me personally,
00:28:28very overwhelming.
00:28:30We're on the block.
00:28:33This is where our journey starts.
00:28:36This week, we did our main bathroom.
00:28:38Our very first bathroom on the block.
00:28:40Scotty suggested $20,000 from Combake for our budget.
00:28:44Are you nervous?
00:28:45A little bit.
00:28:46No, you're not.
00:28:49Timber should have been here, he told me at 8 o'clock.
00:28:51We've just lost three hours not having Timber here.
00:28:53I know.
00:28:54We're going to be under control here.
00:28:56I want to be the first one to finish each week
00:28:58and walk around to people's houses and be like,
00:29:01do you guys want a hand?
00:29:02I've finished over there.
00:29:03Done.
00:29:04We finished where Tuesday with sub four still incomplete.
00:29:12I can't get it off my head that it's like,
00:29:14we're going to present like a room with nothing in it.
00:29:17This is painful.
00:29:18Yeah, this is a terrible week.
00:29:23You need to find some sort of compromise for me.
00:29:25I've been nothing but accommodating for you.
00:29:28Find it for me.
00:29:29I've been nothing but accommodating for you.
00:29:33Don't smile.
00:29:34No need to smile, honey.
00:29:35You've got a lot of tiling to do.
00:29:37We do.
00:29:38You know, carpenter, construction.
00:29:41I'm not starting the block on a fail.
00:29:49Okay, door shut.
00:29:51Blood, sweat and tears.
00:29:55We kind of fell behind the line pretty early on in the week
00:30:00and we're playing catch up.
00:30:03That's why we ended up where we ended up.
00:30:05Yeah.
00:30:06But I was also really proud of the effort we put in as a team.
00:30:16I'm most proud of the styling.
00:30:18I really am.
00:30:19I love, love, love my choices.
00:30:21And if I could put that in every bathroom, I would.
00:30:23And if I get to do my own house one day,
00:30:26I'm probably going to do it the same.
00:30:28Just with more tiles.
00:30:31Oh!
00:30:35Oh, wow.
00:30:36Jessie and Paige.
00:30:38Wow, they would have thought they were coming to do a challenge room.
00:30:41And the fact that they had to do a bathroom
00:30:44has thrown them and you could really tell.
00:30:49How can you tell?
00:30:50It's not finished, the poor things.
00:30:52And Jessie is a builder and it's not finished.
00:30:55Oh, he must be gutted.
00:30:58As soon as you decide to tile floor to ceiling,
00:31:01you are making a rod for your own back.
00:31:03Plan well and execute well
00:31:06if you want to win over these judges.
00:31:09There's a chippy within this team
00:31:11and to have a room unfinished for me,
00:31:14I believe that there is no excuses.
00:31:16If other teams have finished this week and this team hasn't,
00:31:19my margin for error is very, very small.
00:31:24So I hope that they understand that if they're on the block,
00:31:27you do everything that you can in your power,
00:31:29politely, to finish your room.
00:31:31And this is an unfinished room.
00:31:43It's time for you to decide which contestants you think
00:31:46have created this week's winning room.
00:31:49All you have to do is head to the block website now
00:31:52to cast your vote.
00:31:53And don't miss the results a little later in the show.
00:32:04For the folks at home, we're standing in a tin shed
00:32:06and it's 40 degrees outside.
00:32:11We need towels for the contestants.
00:32:16And water.
00:32:26Where are we at?
00:32:28Here we go.
00:32:29OK, Jesse and Paige.
00:32:32Marty Fox knows you are a chippy, Jesse.
00:32:35So he thinks you should be prepared for anything
00:32:38and everything when it comes to the build.
00:32:43If they're on the block,
00:32:45you do everything that you can in your power
00:32:47to finish your room.
00:32:48And this is an unfinished room.
00:32:51Every year, Shona says to contestants,
00:32:53you don't have to tile floor to ceiling
00:32:56when you have to deliver a bathroom inside of a week.
00:32:59There's a lot of labour in putting these sheets up of tiles.
00:33:02And expense.
00:33:03And money.
00:33:04So look at where you can save money and time.
00:33:07And the thing is,
00:33:08you don't have to fully tile every bathroom, every wall.
00:33:12Darren picked up on the interesting shaped room.
00:33:15This is tricky.
00:33:16I mean, we have a big shower,
00:33:18we have an external edge facing into the radius of a door.
00:33:21There's lots going on.
00:33:22It feels a little hectic.
00:33:25Shona luckily did have some positives.
00:33:27Really?
00:33:29I have to say,
00:33:30I'm loving the materials that they've used here.
00:33:33The brushed chrome,
00:33:34I think it's actually quite sexy.
00:33:35It's beautiful.
00:33:36And I'm loving the big form tile.
00:33:38We've got a really large 1200 there.
00:33:41And then we've got this gorgeous little texture on the vanity.
00:33:45It's wide, but it's got a beautiful size basin.
00:33:48I think the great thing is that this is servicing two bedrooms.
00:33:52So I feel like the storage is a big tick.
00:33:54She praised you for including underfloor heating too.
00:33:58We are in Phillip Island.
00:33:59We are sweating like nothing else at the moment.
00:34:01But it is freezing winter and we have underfloor heating,
00:34:05which I'm really excited about.
00:34:07Feels like there's underfloor heating in here, doesn't it?
00:34:09Literally.
00:34:10OK, that's it, Jessie and Paige.
00:34:12One room down, 11 to go.
00:34:14Welcome to the block.
00:34:17You know what?
00:34:18It's not upsetting.
00:34:19It's actually incredibly motivating
00:34:20because any feedback, bad or good,
00:34:22you've really got to take it on board.
00:34:24So that's what I'm going to do.
00:34:25I'm going to push hard to, yeah,
00:34:27win over the judges, especially Marty.
00:34:30OK, house two.
00:34:32Courtney and Grant.
00:34:33Me.
00:34:38You've already started.
00:34:39We are not going to die before we kill him.
00:34:41I saw her.
00:34:42Jesus Christ.
00:34:43If you had to summarise this week in a sentence?
00:34:45Hot mess.
00:34:49It's bathroom week, Courtney.
00:34:50Time to put your floor plans.
00:34:52Where does it say that?
00:34:53It's bathroom week, right at the top in big bold letters.
00:34:58It's a really central part of the house.
00:35:00That's what sells the house is your kitchen and bathroom,
00:35:02so I believe.
00:35:03Yes.
00:35:04I'm thinking a bit more of like a modern Mediterranean look.
00:35:06All right.
00:35:07Mediterranean.
00:35:08Mediterranean.
00:35:09All right, so we're locking in the mineral travertine.
00:35:12All right, done.
00:35:13Yeah.
00:35:14Courtney doesn't look at a price tag.
00:35:18After we fix the framing, we have sheeting of plaster.
00:35:22Then we have waterproofing.
00:35:24So, yeah, we're behind where I want it to be.
00:35:30Nah, that needs to be done right.
00:35:32We've made mistakes.
00:35:33The builders have made mistakes.
00:35:35There's no doubt.
00:35:36There's been a lot of mistakes.
00:35:38We finished waterproofing at 1am on Friday morning,
00:35:42so Thursday night, essentially.
00:35:45All right, let's do it.
00:35:46We're done.
00:35:47I styled it, I've designed it,
00:35:49and if we win this week, you'll f***ing thank me.
00:35:51I delivered it.
00:35:52Sorry, I swore.
00:35:53Whatever.
00:35:54Potty mouth.
00:36:01I feel really confident.
00:36:02I feel like we've produced a really nice bathroom.
00:36:04I think they're going to like it.
00:36:06Ooh, now we're talking.
00:36:17Oh, that feels spacious.
00:36:19This is Instagramable.
00:36:20This is a better layout.
00:36:24Marty thinks it's an amazing floor plan.
00:36:27Standing in the centre, vanity, shower, toilet, bath,
00:36:32incredible materiality.
00:36:34Like, these tiles are stunning.
00:36:37And I love these handles.
00:36:38They almost look like shells off the beach.
00:36:40Yeah.
00:36:42Shona, like the other two judges,
00:36:44was immediately very impressed with your bathroom.
00:36:49It's like this couple heard us in the house before,
00:36:52but you don't have to tile floor to ceiling.
00:36:55Save yourself time.
00:36:56They've done it halfway.
00:36:57They've actually put a curb in here.
00:36:59They've got the niche.
00:37:00I'm loving the subtle lighting.
00:37:02I'm loving the subtle lighting
00:37:04with these beautiful travertine light fittings,
00:37:07which are fantastic.
00:37:09And I think this marble is hot.
00:37:13The issues Shona had,
00:37:14which led to much debate between her and Marty,
00:37:17and perhaps some conflict,
00:37:19well, she felt perhaps you could have even gone further
00:37:23with the aesthetics and styling.
00:37:27I myself still want to see more drama.
00:37:29I really want...
00:37:30What?
00:37:31I want people to really bring it this year.
00:37:34It's a holiday place.
00:37:36This isn't about safety.
00:37:38These are people coming for holidays
00:37:40that want to be wowed.
00:37:41Hang on.
00:37:42I haven't finished.
00:37:43I'm loving the neutral palette.
00:37:44This is the one hero,
00:37:46but you can take it further.
00:37:48You really can.
00:37:49I disagree.
00:37:53He's a serious real estate agent
00:37:55and he thinks you've got the styling
00:37:57and the choices just right.
00:38:01Think about,
00:38:02your buyer, I believe,
00:38:04is coming straight out of Melbourne CBD.
00:38:06They have an aesthetic.
00:38:07Melbournians have a tone.
00:38:08And this fits the bill.
00:38:10I could pick this up
00:38:11and place it in a house in Alba Park,
00:38:14in South Yarra.
00:38:15Any of those buyers
00:38:16that see value coming down here
00:38:18will absolutely gobble this up.
00:38:21You just said it perfectly.
00:38:23You could see this in Alba Park.
00:38:25You could see this in Melbourne.
00:38:26I don't want to come to Phillip Island
00:38:28and be in Melbourne.
00:38:31But when you also invest in property,
00:38:33you want to seek capital appreciation
00:38:35and not too much of a fad.
00:38:36I'm not talking fad.
00:38:37I'm talking personality.
00:38:39Take it to the next level.
00:38:40Go there.
00:38:41Sophistication can be personality.
00:38:44But personality can be sophisticated.
00:38:48I don't want to come back here
00:38:49and feel like I'm in Melbourne.
00:38:51I want to feel like I'm in Phillip Island
00:38:53and see something that is elevated,
00:38:55classy with personality.
00:38:57I think they want that same luxury,
00:39:00tonal feel that they've got at their home.
00:39:03And they're getting the excitement.
00:39:04It's so boring.
00:39:05And they're getting the excitement
00:39:06from everywhere else.
00:39:07I'm coming from home to go to home.
00:39:09Coming from home to continue
00:39:10to make money in property
00:39:11is what I think.
00:39:14Ooh, horns are going to lock on this one.
00:39:20It's got me buggered too.
00:39:23Darren, who played this role most of the day,
00:39:26agreed with both Marty and Shana
00:39:29and he landed very firmly
00:39:30somewhere right in the middle.
00:39:34You want a fence sitter?
00:39:35You're a good fence sitter.
00:39:37I agree with you both
00:39:38and I don't agree with you both.
00:39:39So I think that drama in holiday houses
00:39:42is really important.
00:39:43Instagrammability does help you market them
00:39:46in terms of getting people to come and stay.
00:39:49Like that, that's a shot.
00:39:53Absolutely.
00:39:54That's a shot.
00:39:55So it's striking that balance
00:39:57between Instagrammability,
00:39:58broad enough for a market
00:40:00and something that's going to look good
00:40:02on the sales brochures.
00:40:04But Shana wants more.
00:40:06I am not about Instagrammable moments.
00:40:09I'm about how do you feel
00:40:11when you walk in here.
00:40:12I believe that Instagrammability
00:40:14is so important
00:40:15because it's what gives you that return.
00:40:17You're interconnecting your Airbnb
00:40:19and your Instagram page.
00:40:21All those things mean something
00:40:22to the people renting it.
00:40:24But the thing is,
00:40:25I'm not saying this is a bad room.
00:40:27I'm saying this is a fantastic room.
00:40:29I'm saying,
00:40:30I want to see a lot of this and more.
00:40:32I don't want to see
00:40:33one Instagrammable moment.
00:40:34I don't want to be in Melbourne here.
00:40:36You want to be in Melbourne,
00:40:37you want to be safe.
00:40:38I don't want to be safe.
00:40:41So, what do you do?
00:40:43I win them all, Scotty.
00:40:45But overall for week one,
00:40:47this is a well-designed
00:40:49and well-executed bathroom.
00:40:51The quality is off the charts.
00:40:53The layout is incredible.
00:40:55The tone,
00:40:56everything about it is beautiful.
00:40:58And someone's got the eye here.
00:41:00I don't know if it's Courtney.
00:41:01I mean, she's a furniture designer.
00:41:02She has hit it out of the ballpark.
00:41:05And the key things are
00:41:06the mood lighting,
00:41:07the tile choices,
00:41:08the marble,
00:41:09the skylight.
00:41:10If this is the tone
00:41:11that they have set for this house,
00:41:13then I've got a lot of belief
00:41:15in these guys.
00:41:17Great work, Courtney.
00:41:19Great work, Courtney and Greg.
00:41:21That's it.
00:41:24Thanks.
00:41:27That was, yeah, so nerve-wracking.
00:41:29We did well.
00:41:30Do we have to do that again
00:41:31for 12 weeks?
00:41:3211 more to go.
00:41:45Okay, house three.
00:41:46Standing in the street
00:41:48like a familiar lover
00:41:51Parked there, yeah.
00:41:52Yeah, why not?
00:41:53There's a pair of dickheads
00:41:54everywhere.
00:41:55That's damn.
00:41:57It's been a crazy week.
00:41:59Biggest week of my life.
00:42:00I can actually say that
00:42:01hand on my heart.
00:42:02Don't know what's gonna kill me
00:42:05I'm a plumber,
00:42:06so like,
00:42:07I don't mind starting off
00:42:08with a bathroom, right?
00:42:09I wanted a flute bath.
00:42:10Flutes.
00:42:11It's one of the most expensive
00:42:12ones we do have
00:42:13around here.
00:42:14It's one of the most expensive
00:42:15ones we do have
00:42:16at around the $12,000 mark.
00:42:18It's a damn good bath.
00:42:22Going with our design theme,
00:42:24modern coastal
00:42:25with a touch of
00:42:26Scandinavian in it
00:42:27certainly was,
00:42:28you know,
00:42:29within our plan.
00:42:30My phone rang
00:42:32and it was the wife,
00:42:33Chelsea.
00:42:38Chelsea's going into hospital.
00:42:39She's gonna give birth
00:42:40today or tomorrow.
00:42:41Really?
00:42:42Well, it was waterproof
00:42:43on Wednesday
00:42:44and now it's
00:42:45water breaking Wednesday.
00:42:46I'm gonna be an uncle!
00:42:47You're gonna be an uncle, Scotty!
00:42:49Give me a hug, mate.
00:42:50Let's get you to the chopper!
00:42:51Please, brother.
00:42:52Yes!
00:42:53Keep going!
00:42:58I was insulating,
00:42:59I was working by myself
00:43:00and H called me.
00:43:01How's she doing?
00:43:02Chelsea's doing great.
00:43:03Baby's doing fantastic.
00:43:05What's her name?
00:43:06Miss Hilda.
00:43:07Wow.
00:43:08Wow.
00:43:12Nothing that I could say
00:43:13would explain
00:43:14how I felt
00:43:15but the best feeling
00:43:16in my life ever.
00:43:20I don't think I've ever
00:43:21been to this wall before
00:43:22in a hardware store.
00:43:23Without your zhuzh,
00:43:24you could potentially
00:43:25lose a room.
00:43:26That's a scrub.
00:43:27Mm-hmm.
00:43:28Candle.
00:43:29Mm-hmm.
00:43:30Body wash.
00:43:31I believe it could be
00:43:32French for
00:43:33style.
00:43:34It's all starting
00:43:35to come together.
00:43:38I hope when the judges
00:43:39walk into the room
00:43:40they can actually
00:43:41sense our style
00:43:42rather than
00:43:43thinking we're just
00:43:44a couple of
00:43:45idiots from Melbourne
00:43:46that dress in
00:43:47Flea Row gear.
00:43:54We've got a banging bathroom.
00:43:55I think we've
00:43:56absolutely smashed it.
00:43:58Ricky and Hayden,
00:43:59the boys.
00:44:08Ooh.
00:44:10Marty felt
00:44:11the layout was great.
00:44:14Good floor plan.
00:44:15Vanity's in the right spot.
00:44:16Bath feels good.
00:44:18This is a massive shower.
00:44:19Everything seems
00:44:20to be working.
00:44:21Yeah.
00:44:22Not to mention
00:44:23Hayden was rushed
00:44:24out of here
00:44:25on Wednesday
00:44:26for the birth
00:44:27of his child.
00:44:28His first child.
00:44:29His first child.
00:44:30So this is
00:44:31commendable execution
00:44:32to be one man down.
00:44:33Yeah.
00:44:36Shannon, I love
00:44:37the choice
00:44:38of the bathtub.
00:44:39I think the layout's
00:44:40incredible.
00:44:41I think their
00:44:42choice of tiles
00:44:43is perfect.
00:44:44I love this vanity.
00:44:45That bath is
00:44:46really cute.
00:44:47I love the fact
00:44:48it's got that
00:44:49little shelf on it.
00:44:50Is there enough
00:44:51impact for you?
00:44:54This is where
00:44:55it's impact
00:44:56for impact's sake
00:44:57on a few things.
00:45:00This I think
00:45:01is all beautiful
00:45:02but I think
00:45:03there's too many
00:45:04lines in the panelling,
00:45:05the tiles,
00:45:06the bath,
00:45:07and the vanity
00:45:08slow it down
00:45:09a little bit
00:45:10and make sure
00:45:11that your colours
00:45:12are the same tonings
00:45:13that are going to work.
00:45:14So the bluey grey
00:45:15doesn't work
00:45:16with that green
00:45:17and it doesn't work
00:45:18with this as well.
00:45:19So for me
00:45:20the colour palette
00:45:21is mismatched.
00:45:22They could do this
00:45:23a really sophisticated
00:45:24deep colour
00:45:25but this colour
00:45:26has to suit
00:45:27the rest of the house.
00:45:28So this is
00:45:29a little bit
00:45:30childish.
00:45:31It's a bit
00:45:32kindergarten.
00:45:33Bit harsh
00:45:34from Shana.
00:45:35Darren had
00:45:36a word of advice.
00:45:37He thinks
00:45:38you should do
00:45:39a flat lay
00:45:40for each room
00:45:41to make sure
00:45:42all the elements
00:45:43go together
00:45:44before you start.
00:45:45Do you know
00:45:46what that means?
00:45:47Yeah.
00:45:48I'm very bored.
00:45:49When you do
00:45:50a flat lay
00:45:51you get your tile,
00:45:52you get your other tile,
00:45:53you get your timber choices
00:45:54and your paint swatches
00:45:55and then you
00:45:56lay them all out
00:45:57and then you
00:45:58do a flat lay
00:45:59and then you
00:46:01lay them all out
00:46:02and when you
00:46:03look at it
00:46:04things should
00:46:05jump out as you
00:46:06that don't work
00:46:07or they're jarring.
00:46:08So
00:46:09this colour
00:46:10and this colour
00:46:11with that colour
00:46:12we've got different
00:46:13intensities
00:46:14and different tones
00:46:15so that
00:46:16duck egg blue here
00:46:17add to this
00:46:18saturation of colour
00:46:19it's too much.
00:46:20What are your thoughts
00:46:21about that?
00:46:22Yeah no
00:46:23that's fair mate.
00:46:24That's fair.
00:46:25Which are the risks?
00:46:26Every stroke
00:46:27of the paint
00:46:28on that door
00:46:29I was like
00:46:30Marty agrees
00:46:31wearing his
00:46:32real estate hat.
00:46:33From a real estate
00:46:34perspective
00:46:35you want to be able
00:46:36to appeal
00:46:37to the masses
00:46:38and if this
00:46:39hardy groove
00:46:40and the door
00:46:41were to be white
00:46:42this white
00:46:43will feel beachy
00:46:44and a buyer
00:46:45will not be able
00:46:46to pick it apart.
00:46:47By going
00:46:48the blue
00:46:49and the tonal blue
00:46:50you're raising
00:46:51the eyebrows
00:46:52of the buyer
00:46:53and why bother?
00:46:54But I mean
00:46:55it doesn't even
00:46:56have to be blue
00:46:57this could be
00:46:58canary yellow.
00:47:00Marty disagreed
00:47:01with a very
00:47:02firm no.
00:47:05It can't be
00:47:06canary yellow.
00:47:07What?
00:47:08Just white
00:47:09it's enough
00:47:10you've got all the
00:47:11juice here.
00:47:12They've squeezed
00:47:13the lemon hard enough
00:47:14in the vanity
00:47:15in the tiles
00:47:16in the feature
00:47:17biscuit tile
00:47:18I don't know why
00:47:19it needs to be
00:47:20canary yellow.
00:47:21I really don't believe
00:47:22a buyer's going to
00:47:23come in here
00:47:24and go fantastic house
00:47:25I'm not going to
00:47:26pay a premium
00:47:27because I've got
00:47:28one in there.
00:47:29You could turn it
00:47:30into a little bit
00:47:31more retro
00:47:32if you go the
00:47:33deep egg yolk yellow
00:47:34palm springs.
00:47:35I'm not picking up
00:47:36that they would be
00:47:37able to execute
00:47:38the palm springs
00:47:39throughout
00:47:40that's the problem
00:47:41whereas if they
00:47:42keep it
00:47:43Why couldn't they?
00:47:44Because to pull off
00:47:45palm springs
00:47:46throughout an entire
00:47:47house as designers
00:47:48you'd know
00:47:49it is very
00:47:50very hard to do
00:47:51you've got to be
00:47:52super super sophisticated.
00:47:53You're doubting
00:47:54the people you
00:47:55haven't even met yet.
00:47:56I'm judging
00:47:57that if they're
00:47:58going for this
00:47:59and this
00:48:00matched with that
00:48:01they may not
00:48:02be able to pull off
00:48:03palm springs
00:48:04throughout an entire
00:48:05house.
00:48:06I think they've got
00:48:07the work ethic
00:48:08and they can execute
00:48:09it's just whether
00:48:10they've got the eye.
00:48:11But Darren and Shona
00:48:12think you do
00:48:13you just need to
00:48:14plan better.
00:48:15I think it's
00:48:16a bloody good start
00:48:17I mean this is
00:48:18a cracking bathroom
00:48:19week one
00:48:20hardest bathroom
00:48:21ever
00:48:22in the hardest
00:48:23location ever
00:48:24in 20 years
00:48:25but it's not
00:48:26memorable
00:48:27of bathrooms
00:48:28but it's also not
00:48:29Oh do you want to be
00:48:30do you want to be
00:48:31levitated do you?
00:48:32No.
00:48:33Just a little bit
00:48:34but as in
00:48:35I don't want it to
00:48:36offend
00:48:37I'm really happy
00:48:38for Ricky and Hayden
00:48:39I think it's a
00:48:40great start
00:48:41but I feel like
00:48:42they're going to
00:48:43be a sponge
00:48:44and listen to
00:48:45everything that
00:48:46we've said.
00:48:47Fingers crossed.
00:48:48Fingers crossed.
00:48:49Good they know.
00:48:50Hell hath no fury
00:48:51like chain of lies.
00:48:52That's it boys
00:48:53what a big week
00:48:54for both of you
00:48:56but
00:48:57you can't go
00:48:58anywhere ever again
00:48:59you've had your
00:49:00one leap pass.
00:49:01I'm here mate
00:49:02I'm here.
00:49:03I really wanted
00:49:04to prove to H
00:49:05that we could get
00:49:06off to the good start
00:49:07and I really wanted
00:49:08to do him proud
00:49:09and I couldn't
00:49:10have tried any better
00:49:11but yeah
00:49:12I'm still disappointed.
00:49:13When it comes down
00:49:14to colour choices
00:49:15on a room finish
00:49:16and that's the only
00:49:17negative feedback
00:49:18I think he absolutely
00:49:19nailed it.
00:49:26Okay
00:49:27House 4
00:49:28Carly and Prad
00:49:29guessing this is
00:49:30going to go
00:49:31one of two ways
00:49:32you have created
00:49:33Black Beauty
00:49:34or Batman Shitter.
00:49:40Phillip Island
00:49:41won't know
00:49:42what's hit them.
00:49:43I found this week
00:49:44very tiring.
00:49:45Yeah this week
00:49:46was a very
00:49:47difficult week
00:49:48for both of us
00:49:49and I think
00:49:50it's going to
00:49:51be a very
00:49:52difficult week
00:49:53for both of us
00:49:54Yeah this week
00:49:55was a challenge
00:49:56100%.
00:49:58What room
00:49:59did we do this week?
00:50:00This week we did
00:50:01the main bathroom.
00:50:04They're trying
00:50:05to kill us.
00:50:06Do you have
00:50:07any inspiration
00:50:08or anything
00:50:09that you'd like
00:50:10to run through
00:50:11with me to begin with?
00:50:12Black, black, black,
00:50:13black, black, black.
00:50:14All black?
00:50:15Yeah.
00:50:16Easy.
00:50:17Is it?
00:50:18Your 1800 vanity
00:50:19will hit the bath.
00:50:20It doesn't fit.
00:50:22Just delete the bath.
00:50:23That doesn't make sense.
00:50:24Bath's out.
00:50:29We still don't
00:50:30have a structure up.
00:50:31You guys
00:50:32have got to go
00:50:33a thousand miles
00:50:34an hour.
00:50:35Yeah.
00:50:36And then
00:50:37wake up tomorrow morning
00:50:38and do it again.
00:50:39Do it all over again, yeah.
00:50:42I'm at Beacon.
00:50:43I actually
00:50:44have a plan.
00:50:45I need
00:50:46a mirror.
00:50:47Yes.
00:50:48Fingers crossed
00:50:49they have what I'm after.
00:50:50Yeah so 800 mil
00:50:51is the largest
00:50:52we can make around.
00:50:53It's the biggest
00:50:54in stock?
00:50:55Yeah.
00:50:56Amazing.
00:50:57And we want three pendants.
00:50:58Three pendants.
00:50:59And three globes.
00:51:00Tick, tick, tick.
00:51:01So we're hammering
00:51:02towards waterproofing.
00:51:03Waterproofing
00:51:04by two-ish?
00:51:05Five, 130.
00:51:06130?
00:51:07Lock's biggest
00:51:08comeback this room.
00:51:11I can't believe
00:51:12that you spent cash
00:51:14off your budget
00:51:15on this.
00:51:16I didn't know
00:51:17this until now.
00:51:18But it might
00:51:19look beautiful
00:51:20and they might win.
00:51:21We better catch up
00:51:22on the next room.
00:51:23Or win.
00:51:25I think this room's unique
00:51:26just because it is
00:51:27so far away
00:51:28from what
00:51:29everyone else is doing.
00:51:38Hearing from the judges
00:51:39will really set the tone
00:51:40on where we're
00:51:42going to go from here.
00:51:45Whoa!
00:51:46This is full on.
00:51:48If they completely
00:51:49tear it apart
00:51:50I might have to rethink
00:51:51what I'm doing.
00:51:55I wanted drama
00:51:56and I got drama.
00:51:57You got it all right.
00:51:59You can't say
00:52:00you don't like it.
00:52:01You match.
00:52:02In a top that I can change
00:52:03at the end of the day.
00:52:05Can't change this too quick.
00:52:13It's a lot.
00:52:15It's a hell of a lot.
00:52:16They need to bank on
00:52:17a Collingwood supporter
00:52:18to buy this house.
00:52:19I'm not a Collingwood supporter
00:52:20and I wear black and white
00:52:21all the time.
00:52:23Shona wasn't having
00:52:24any of that.
00:52:25She loved the feeling
00:52:26of the room.
00:52:29I'm loving the subtlety
00:52:30of the deck tom
00:52:31which is on the walls
00:52:32in the shower
00:52:33and then also on the floor
00:52:34and then the rest
00:52:35of the walls are painted.
00:52:37But then also this
00:52:38cute little groove here
00:52:39which is quite gorgeous
00:52:40of just panels.
00:52:42Let me finish.
00:52:43Let me finish.
00:52:44It breaks up
00:52:45the black and white.
00:52:46I adore this pattern
00:52:49and I'm always not a fan
00:52:51of a black toilet
00:52:52but this one disappears
00:52:54so that works.
00:52:56It's definitely Instagrammable.
00:52:57I love the feeling of it.
00:52:59So you say you like,
00:53:00you actually like this?
00:53:01We haven't got through to it.
00:53:02The first impact to me goes
00:53:04oh, you have grabbed me.
00:53:07It's grabbed me
00:53:08but for all the wrong reasons.
00:53:11And once again
00:53:12I am somewhere in between
00:53:15the two of you.
00:53:17What I do like in here
00:53:18is the dark palette.
00:53:21If we're looking at this room
00:53:22as a starting point for the home
00:53:24and they're intending
00:53:25to do like a black shack,
00:53:27awesome.
00:53:28I think that's a really
00:53:29appropriate beach side
00:53:30holiday accommodation look.
00:53:33We have great decision making
00:53:36in here.
00:53:37The deck tom's fantastic.
00:53:38That vanity is gorgeous.
00:53:39I even like the granite top.
00:53:41Great use of skylight.
00:53:43Phenomenal.
00:53:44Having this big section
00:53:45carved out of the ceiling.
00:53:47It just gives you
00:53:48this volume of space
00:53:49that's already really elevated
00:53:51because of these high ceilings.
00:53:53So that is a huge success.
00:53:56Big tick.
00:53:57Massive win.
00:54:00What de-elevates the room
00:54:02is that herringbone pattern.
00:54:06It is the battening here
00:54:07on the side
00:54:08and it is these
00:54:09industrial hanging lights.
00:54:11It gives off a, you know,
00:54:13mid 2010s nightclub vibe.
00:54:17And we have the glaring
00:54:19omission of a bath.
00:54:20Yeah.
00:54:21These homes,
00:54:22if they're holiday accommodation,
00:54:24if they're going to be used
00:54:25by a lot of families,
00:54:26especially when they're
00:54:27staying outside,
00:54:28you do need a bathtub.
00:54:31Shona had some
00:54:32thoughtful feedback for you.
00:54:34The only jarring thing for her
00:54:36is the neon colour
00:54:37of the vase and the artwork.
00:54:39Neon doesn't bring
00:54:41softness to it.
00:54:42This vase and then we've got
00:54:44the white fern
00:54:45and then we've got
00:54:46the black pampas
00:54:47takes it very theatrical.
00:54:50And then this neon here,
00:54:52it's not speaking to me.
00:54:53So take those two elements out
00:54:55and put softness in there.
00:54:57I think it's beautiful.
00:54:59But there is a storm
00:55:01rolling in, guys.
00:55:02A dark thunderstorm
00:55:04called Marty Fox.
00:55:06The only thing that I like
00:55:07about this room
00:55:08is the skylight
00:55:09because when I'm looking up,
00:55:11I don't have to see
00:55:12anything else in this room.
00:55:15You've got a large vanity
00:55:17with only one sink.
00:55:18Easily could have been
00:55:19a double sink.
00:55:23You've got this herringbone tile
00:55:25which is just so out of place,
00:55:27a neon canvas behind me,
00:55:29this weird vase.
00:55:33For me,
00:55:34this is probably
00:55:35one of the best things in here.
00:55:37It's the black toilet paper.
00:55:39Rude.
00:55:41It's all right.
00:55:42It's week one.
00:55:45I mean, to throw my positive
00:55:47spin on the room,
00:55:48I do love the deckton,
00:55:50which both you guys also love.
00:55:52From a real estate perspective,
00:55:54if I brought ten buyers in here,
00:55:58maybe one or two
00:55:59will say I love it.
00:56:01You're the next one.
00:56:02You're the next one
00:56:03to say I love it.
00:56:04You only need one buyer.
00:56:05Oh, come on.
00:56:07And you only need one buyer
00:56:08is the right word to say, Jessie.
00:56:13This is as far removed
00:56:15from the beach
00:56:16as you could get.
00:56:18What color are penguins?
00:56:20Just putting it out there.
00:56:23I want to get out of here.
00:56:28If these homes
00:56:29are to be selling
00:56:30for more than double
00:56:31the average sale price
00:56:32on Phillip Island,
00:56:34then you need to be able
00:56:35to appeal to the masses.
00:56:37It needs to feel, I believe,
00:56:39relaxing, coastal,
00:56:41and a getaway.
00:56:43This is heavy.
00:56:44This is dark.
00:56:45If they continue this theme
00:56:46throughout the other rooms,
00:56:48this is going to be
00:56:49possibly the biggest disaster
00:56:51we've seen in 20 seasons.
00:56:55It's really brave
00:56:56to do what you really want to do.
00:56:59You guys should be
00:57:00so proud of yourself
00:57:01where you were
00:57:02a couple of days ago.
00:57:03Yeah, 100%.
00:57:05I know it's been
00:57:06a really tough week,
00:57:07and you come in here,
00:57:09and it is constructive criticism
00:57:11coming from the judges.
00:57:12Just remember that you got
00:57:13a lot of positive feedback
00:57:15from Darren and Shaina,
00:57:16and from a design point of view,
00:57:18but it was a bit harsh for Marty
00:57:20from a real estate point of view.
00:57:22And there's always next week.
00:57:24Thanks, mate.
00:57:25Okay, well done.
00:57:27Okay, but well done
00:57:28for finishing.
00:57:29You did a great job.
00:57:45Okay, the last room
00:57:46of week one on the block,
00:57:48Christian and Mimi.
00:57:54Slow, slow, slow.
00:57:56My girlie girlie girl
00:57:58is right here.
00:58:01This week, we were faced
00:58:03with many challenges,
00:58:06but we somehow overcame
00:58:09all of them.
00:58:12I'm quite positive.
00:58:14Mimi will be like, ah!
00:58:18Located on the ground floor
00:58:20and at a bit over 10 square metres,
00:58:22House 5's main bathroom
00:58:24is the biggest on the block
00:58:25this week.
00:58:27That's the other option.
00:58:29That's a lot bolder.
00:58:30I'm a bold girl,
00:58:31so that is definitely something
00:58:33I don't mind.
00:58:34Can I have this?
00:58:35This, this, this?
00:58:36Lock it in.
00:58:37Lock it in?
00:58:38Perfect, done.
00:58:39I think that I'm evolving,
00:58:42and it's happening on the block.
00:58:48Everything's good
00:58:49for waterproofing.
00:58:51You'll be the only one
00:58:52waterproofing.
00:58:54We made Waterproof Wednesday.
00:58:59You're slow, Tyler's still going slow.
00:59:05Hurry up, dude.
00:59:06It's like watching paint dry.
00:59:08You better bring someone else tomorrow,
00:59:10otherwise we are...
00:59:16So we have everyone in here today
00:59:18just trying to get us over the line.
00:59:20That's why we feel really positive.
00:59:22Yeah, baby.
00:59:23Oh, yeah.
00:59:24We knew it was going to be tough,
00:59:26but we are over the moon.
00:59:36This is massive.
00:59:46Look at the ceiling here.
00:59:48Wowzers, this is a lot more space, isn't it?
00:59:53Marty is first up.
00:59:55We know he's on the wall path today,
00:59:57so what does he think of house number five?
01:00:00Having this floor space
01:00:02for a beach house
01:00:06just makes so much sense.
01:00:09Are you happy with that?
01:00:10Very happy.
01:00:13This truly is
01:00:15a proper family bathroom
01:00:17where we won't feel
01:00:18like we're on top of each other.
01:00:20Darren said,
01:00:21this room's a huge success.
01:00:25It's got beautiful materials.
01:00:26The tile on the floor is gorgeous.
01:00:28I really love that you've got
01:00:30that slight blue through there
01:00:31that ties in here with this tile.
01:00:34This is really successful.
01:00:38I just think the balance of tone
01:00:41and texture is incredible.
01:00:43I love the point of difference
01:00:45with the ceiling.
01:00:46I think it enhances it.
01:00:48I actually really love
01:00:50the watery tiles
01:00:52like reflecting Phillip Island
01:00:54and the fact we've got artwork.
01:00:56Look at that.
01:00:57We've got the surf beach,
01:00:58we've got the sand.
01:00:59It's just the essence of Phillip Island.
01:01:02I'm really impressed.
01:01:04Are you satisfied
01:01:05with your level of impact in here,
01:01:07Shana Blakes?
01:01:08My feet are starting to lift.
01:01:14Darren was thinking hard
01:01:15at this point about the layout
01:01:17and wondered if you made
01:01:18the most of the luxury of space
01:01:20compared to the other houses
01:01:22that you had to plan with.
01:01:27Are you not sure at the moment?
01:01:29Because you're sort of going,
01:01:30I'm not 100%.
01:01:31I'm thinking,
01:01:32the bigger the room gets,
01:01:33it gets harder to plan.
01:01:35You can make mistakes
01:01:38and waste loads of space
01:01:39in big rooms.
01:01:41This layout could have went
01:01:43one of six, seven different ways
01:01:46and I just don't know
01:01:50that there isn't a better layout
01:01:52to this room.
01:01:54I think maybe there is.
01:01:59Judging purely by how much
01:02:01open floor space there is
01:02:03that seems to have no purpose.
01:02:05It doesn't feel sparse though.
01:02:06No.
01:02:07It feels quite comfortable.
01:02:08The only thing that I'm
01:02:10not really buying into
01:02:12is the tiny little shower nook
01:02:14for such a large shower.
01:02:16That is nearly a two metre
01:02:19long shower.
01:02:21And they probably could have
01:02:22even had two shower heads.
01:02:24I don't know, two shower heads,
01:02:26holiday house,
01:02:27got other family members.
01:02:29I like to shower alone personally.
01:02:33Marty thinks this room
01:02:34will add a huge amount of value
01:02:36to the buyer
01:02:37when they come through your house.
01:02:40When you walk into this house,
01:02:42this is the first room of true value
01:02:45that the buyer will see.
01:02:46This is the family bathroom.
01:02:48They've hit it
01:02:49and they've done it so well,
01:02:50so sophisticated
01:02:52that you bring 10 buyers in here,
01:02:55you're going to have majority
01:02:56give it a big tick.
01:02:57This is an incredible standard
01:03:00for week one.
01:03:01It is beautifully appointed.
01:03:04How they've laid everything out
01:03:06and how this would shoot,
01:03:08I mean this is the hero shot
01:03:10of today, right here.
01:03:12For week one, seven days,
01:03:15first room.
01:03:17This doesn't feel like week one
01:03:19standing here.
01:03:21Wow.
01:03:23But is it good enough
01:03:24to win you 140 grand?
01:03:26For Marty, it's neck and neck,
01:03:30which means only one thing.
01:03:33It's time.
01:03:35Just a minute,
01:03:36I'll find it here somewhere
01:03:37for the schools.
01:03:39Here we go.
01:03:58It's time for the schools.
01:04:01Here we go.
01:04:03Okay, Darren Palmer,
01:04:05Jessie and Paige.
01:04:09We have a big shower,
01:04:10we have an external edge
01:04:12facing into the radius of a door
01:04:14and it feels a little hectic.
01:04:24Courtney and Grant.
01:04:27It's striking that balance
01:04:28between Instagram-ability,
01:04:30broad enough for a market.
01:04:31I think this does it perfectly.
01:04:33I think they've nailed this.
01:04:39Oh!
01:04:43Oi!
01:04:48Ricky and Hayden.
01:04:50I think it's a bloody good start.
01:04:52I mean, this is a cracking bathroom.
01:04:58Yes.
01:04:59Good on you boys.
01:05:01Well done, bro.
01:05:02Kylie and Brad.
01:05:03Decton's fantastic,
01:05:05that vanity is gorgeous,
01:05:06I even like the granite top.
01:05:08Great use of skylight.
01:05:10Phenomenal.
01:05:19And Christian and Mimi.
01:05:22They're planning well,
01:05:23they're designing well,
01:05:24they've hit the brief.
01:05:26I think this is a huge success.
01:05:29Oh!
01:05:34Here we go, Marty Fox.
01:05:36Oh, no.
01:05:38Jessie and Paige.
01:05:42There's a chippy within this team.
01:05:44They're on the block,
01:05:45you do everything that you can in your power
01:05:47to finish your room,
01:05:48and this is an unfinished room.
01:05:51Courtney and Grant.
01:05:54Amazing floor plan,
01:05:55incredible materiality,
01:05:57like these tiles are stunning.
01:06:09Ricky and Hayden.
01:06:12Oh!
01:06:13Oh!
01:06:14Oh!
01:06:15Oh!
01:06:16Oh!
01:06:17Oh!
01:06:18Ricky and Hayden.
01:06:20If this hearty groove and the door were to be white,
01:06:23a buyer will not be able to pick it apart.
01:06:25By going the blue and the tonal blue,
01:06:29you're raising the eyebrows of the buyer.
01:06:32And why bother?
01:06:40Kylie and Brad.
01:06:42This is heavy, this is dark.
01:06:44If they continue this theme throughout the other rooms,
01:06:47this is going to be possibly the biggest disaster
01:06:51we've seen in 20 seasons.
01:06:57And Christian and Nita, here we go.
01:06:59Having this floor space for a beach house
01:07:03just makes so much sense.
01:07:07Oh!
01:07:09Oh, $140,000.
01:07:12Here we go, see you in a sec.
01:07:14Good luck, guys.
01:07:15Good luck, guys.
01:07:16Good luck.
01:07:17Shona Blaze, Jessie and Paige.
01:07:21There's a lot of labour in putting these sheets up of tiles.
01:07:25You don't have to fully tile every bathroom, every wall.
01:07:28Courtney and Grant.
01:07:32Feel sick.
01:07:35I'm loving the subtle lighting
01:07:37with these beautiful travertine light fittings.
01:07:40And I think this marble is hot.
01:07:43Ricky and Hayden.
01:07:46This, I think, is all beautiful,
01:07:48but I think there's too many lines in the panelling,
01:07:51the tiles, the bath and the vanity.
01:07:54Kylie and Brad.
01:07:57First impact to me goes,
01:07:59oh, you have grabbed me.
01:08:01And Christian and Mimi.
01:08:04I just think the balance of tone and texture is incredible.
01:08:11OK, the winner of week one on the block,

01:08:26Here we go.
01:08:27It's massive, $140,000.
01:08:29I can't spin the board.

01:08:59Modern Terranian Bathroom,
01:09:01with Ricky's effort scoring the boys third place.

01:09:22Yeah, lots of sacrifices to be here,
01:09:24so, you know, it means a lot.
01:09:26Yes, that's fantastic.

01:09:29at your neighbours' houses at the Domain Open for Inspections
01:09:32and you can also head to Domain
01:09:34because it's the only place you're going to find out
01:09:36what you're doing next week.

01:09:39It was a tough week.
01:09:40Good luck.

01:09:42See you later.
01:09:46We really put our heart and soul into this week
01:09:48and we came out with an outstanding result.
01:09:52And what we're doing is what buyers want.
01:09:54So that's pretty cool.
01:09:56That's what you want, right?
01:09:57That's the point of the block.
01:09:58Let's have a go.
01:09:59Oh, my God!
01:10:02Congratulations.
01:10:08It's a week of wonder.
01:10:10Let's go!
01:10:113D bedheads.
01:10:13Here we go, guys.
01:10:14Into the vault.
01:10:16Golden sinks.

01:10:21It's coming back.
01:10:22Things are happening up here.
01:10:23Do you know what you're looking for?
01:10:25Uh, not at all, no.
01:10:27And crafty Christian...
01:10:2810 Gs, baby!
01:10:31Both our signatures have been forged.
01:10:33So to sign off fraudulently, you can't do that.
01:10:36I know I was wrong.
01:10:37Not cool, man.
01:10:38So, Danny, why did you do it?
01:10:39Who does that?
01:10:40You're making it worse.
01:10:42The new block.
01:10:43Tomorrow, 7.30 on Nine.
01:10:46Our room reveal galleries are now open for inspection
