00:00Hey friends, I'm Stacey and this is Gorgeously Aging and today I'm going to talk about HIFU

00:10treatments.

00:11HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound and this treatment is very successful at tightening

00:17the skin and building collagen, helps with fine lines and wrinkles, but mostly it has

00:23a lot of success in skin tightening and building elastins and collagen.

00:28HIFU is a well-studied modality for skin tightening and it's often referred to as

00:33a non-surgical facelift or non-surgical face tightening.

00:37How the HIFU modality works is by heating the deeper layers of the skin while not damaging

00:43the surface layers.

00:45This focused heat creates a controlled type of wound within the skin and that stimulates

00:51fibroblasts which then turns into collagen.

00:53HIFU treatments are known to improve skin laxity, tighten the skin, boost collagen which

00:59we really need, that's the building blocks of healthy tight skin, and improves fine lines

01:04and wrinkles.

01:05HIFU can be used on the face and on the body so it's a great treatment for the neck and

01:11chest as well.

01:12I'm actually going to use HIFU on my underarms here soon because I have lost some weight

01:17which then ends up being just some looser skin.

01:21So I definitely need to build collagen in some areas since I've had some weight loss.

01:25So the areas I'm going to treat are going to be the jawline, the neck, the chest, and

01:31the underarms here just to increase some collagen and improve the firmness in those areas.

01:37Now the national average for HIFU treatments is about $1800, it really depends on where

01:43you are in the country.

01:44In addition to in-spa treatments for HIFU, there are consumer available devices that

01:49work really well.

01:51The device that I use is from PlasmaPerfecting.com.

01:55Now some of the advantages to HIFU if you're not quite ready to jump into surgery are of

02:00course the cost.

02:01It is super cost effective especially if you're treating at home.

02:05There's no surgery and no downtime.

02:08HIFU creates some heat so there might be some localized redness but it's non-invasive, extremely

02:14safe and very effective.

02:17Several clinical trials have found HIFU to be safe and effective at tightening the skin

02:22and treating fine lines and wrinkles.

02:24People were able to see nice results within a few months of treatment.

02:27Now keep in mind that it does take some time for collagen to build.

02:31So after the treatment we create that controlled wound or heat within the skin and then that

02:37sends a signal for collagen to build and that will take some time.

02:42The benefits of HIFU treatment can last a long time because we are building natural

02:46collagen.

02:47Now one of the benefits for me doing this at home is that in most cases HIFU treatments

02:52should be in a series of two or three treatments.

02:55So if you go to a med spa or a professional to have HIFU treatments, they're going to

02:59be a little higher intensity treatments and probably spaced apart a little bit more than

03:04a HIFU treatment at home.

03:06The consumer available HIFU machines are really great machines.

03:11They may be slightly less aggressive than in-spa machines, but you can do them a little

03:17bit more frequently and you have the versatility of doing them at home.

03:21Don't worry you guys, I will be showing you my treatments when I do them.

03:24I just wanted to give you kind of an introduction to HIFU before I actually jump into showing

03:29you the HIFU treatments on myself.

03:31So it is recommended to have two to three treatments of HIFU and then maybe maintenance

03:37thereafter.

03:38Also quarterly or twice a year, it really just depends on the person, the area of the

03:42body and how they respond to the HIFU treatment.

03:45In some studies it's been shown that HIFU is really effective in the jowl, lower face,

03:52cheek area, around the periorbital or mouth area as far as tightening in the jawline and

03:56jowls and in the chest and neck.

03:59I'm definitely also going to be using it on my tummy which has some looser skin and also

04:05underneath my arms like I mentioned.

04:07I also have an RF microneedling device from that same company, plasmaperfecting.com, which

04:12I will probably use in conjunction.

04:14So I will do HIFU to tighten but also RF microneedling to help reduce fat and build collagen underneath

04:22my arms, those bat wing areas that tend to get a little bit loose on us as we age.

04:27So as always you guys, I like to bring information to the channel that is backed by science,

04:33that has studies to support the efficacy of the modality and HIFU is one of those treatments

04:38that does have some science based data.
