00:49Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra GarcĂa from Telesur Studios in
00:53Havana, Cuba.
00:54To begin with the news, Venezuela denounces before the United Nations organization a massive
00:59cyber attack against the country as part of the destabilization operation.
01:03During the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, Venezuela's alternate ambassador
01:09to the United Nations, JoaquĂn PĂ©rez, stated that crimes have been perpetrated through
01:14information and communication technologies, including interference, destabilization and
01:19the promotion of coup d'etats.
01:21He also pointed out that these so-called cybercrimes are used in a criminal manner to advance these
01:28information campaigns.
01:29The diplomat also indicated that Venezuela, in addition to its electoral system, has also
01:34received cyberattacks against the national electricity system and other strategic sectors
01:40including the oil and gas industry.
01:50In Venezuela, the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Carizlia RodrĂguez, announced
01:55that only 33 of 38 political parties presented the required electoral material.
02:05In accordance with the referred subpoena, the 38 political parties involved appeared
02:11before the court in a timely manner.
02:1433 of them submitted the required electoral material.
02:21The Cuban government denied on Saturday in an official statement the allegations of its
02:26involvement in modifying the results of the presidential elections held in Venezuela on
02:30July 28.
02:32They stated four main points.
02:34First, it is absolutely false that specialists in computer science or any other area would
02:40have traveled from Cuba to Venezuela with the purpose of modifying the results of the
02:44presidential elections in that country.
02:47Second, this unfounded and fabricated accusation by the former high Colombian official Francisco
02:53Santos is not accompanied by evidence because it does not exist.
02:57Third, the promoter of this lie is known for his active participation in misinterpretation
03:03campaigns and for his involvement in several political scandals.
03:08In December 2021, he invented that the commander of a Colombian armed guerrilla group, Ivan
03:14Marquez, would be in Cuba, which was flatly denied by reality.
03:18Last, the politically motivated construction of a matrix of lies that attributes to Cuban
03:24responsibilities in the results achieved by the contenders in the elections in Venezuela
03:29is assumed as a truth by those who traditionally participate in the campaigns of misinterpretations
03:35about Cuba.
03:43In Colombia, out of the 98 military personnel held in the community of San Jose de Guaviare
03:49were freed.
03:50The kidnapped soldiers belong to the Joint Task Force Omega, which has expressed its
03:54concern and urged the release of the soldiers who have been held captive since last Friday.
04:01The first medical report indicated that the first released prisoners were in good health,
04:06although they were transferred to a battalion for a more exhaustive physical and mental
04:10examination.
04:12The National Army declared that it is working with the Public Prosecutor's Office to secure
04:17the release of the 58 remaining soldiers, at the same time that it holds meetings and
04:22security councils in the area to take action on what happened.
04:37In Ecuador, the Citizen Revolution Movement confirmed Luisa Gonzalez as presidential pre-candidate
04:42for the 2025 elections with Diego Borja as her running mate.
04:47The movement made the announcement during a national convention at the Coliseum Voltaire
04:51Paladins Polo in Guayaquil that running mates will aspire to the presidency in next year's
04:57February elections.
04:58The political movement of former President Rafael Correa also announced the candidates
05:03for the national and provincial assemblies.
05:11Let's get to know a little more about the presidential pre-candidates for the Citizen
05:14Revolution Movement.
05:17Presidential hopeful Luisa Magdalena Gonzalez is a lawyer who graduated from the International
05:22University of Ecuador and has two master's degrees in senior management and international
05:28economics.
05:29Gonzalez has held several public positions throughout her professional career.
05:34It is important to point out that she will return to the electoral race after participating
05:39in the 2023 early elections.
05:42For his part, Vice Presidential Candidate Diego Borja is an Ecuadorian economist and
05:47political leader, recognized for being elected Assemblyman for the province of Pichincha
05:53on September 30, 2007.
05:55In 2008, he was Minister of Economic Policy Coordination.
06:00It is also important to highlight that the Ecuadorian economist is also the national
06:05president of the democratic socialist movement Poder Ciudadano.
06:14The President of Ecuador, Daniel Novoa, who assumed power in November, informed on Friday
06:19that he will seek re-election for the presidential elections of February 2025 and announced who
06:25will accompany him as Vice Presidential Candidate.
06:29Novoa made the announcement of his candidacy during the convention of his political movement
06:33and national democratic action, six days after the beginning of the period set by
06:39the National Electoral Council for organizations to internally define their candidacies.
06:44They will be able to officially register before the electoral body between September 12 and
06:50October 2.
06:51At the convention, the President announced current official María José Pinto will accompany
06:56him as the Vice Presidential Candidate.

07:23Welcome back.
07:24The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers, Margaret
07:29Southert, warned of inequalities in access to justice in Chile.
07:34On her two-week visit to the country, the rapporteur alerted to the existence of a justice
07:39gap that splits the rich and the poor, thus legal services provided depend on citizen
07:44social class, economic means and connections.
07:47Likewise, the authority noted that while the wealthy benefit from a system that allows
07:53them to expedite their cases to avoid convictions, the underprivileged find themselves embroiled
07:59in cumbersome procedures and receive harsher sentences.
08:03Southert warned that this difference is intertwined with the discrimination that hinders the fair
08:10assistance of communities of indigenous peoples, migrants and Afro-descendants.
08:21On Saturday, Peruvian justice confirms annulment of former President Alberto Fujimori's indictment
08:26for forced sterilizations.
08:28A Peruvian court dismissed the legal case against Fujimori, who between 1990 and 2000
08:34ordered the execution of forced sterilizations of nearly 200,000 poor and indigenous women.
08:40The decision to dismiss this case came one day after the approval of Law 3217, known
08:46as the Amnesty Law, which de facto decrees the prescription of war crimes and crimes
08:51against humanity committed before 1 June 2002.
08:55Experts clarified that the decision does not prohibit the refiling of the indictment but
09:00only annuls the opening order of the investigation of the case and returns it to the filing stage.
09:12The Brazil Fire Brigade informed on Saturday that the search stage was over after locating
09:18the remains of the 62 people who died in Friday's plane crash in the city of Viñedo, in Sao
09:23Paulo.
09:24Likewise, the Centre for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents published
09:29a video with the boxes containing the recordings of the Vopaz airline flight in which 58 passengers
09:35and four crew members died.
09:37Authorities indicated that now follows the identification, which will be difficult to
09:42do.
09:43To facilitate the process, some families are providing their genetic data.
09:47In order to find out the causes of the accident, parallel investigations will be carried out.
09:53The airline stated that three Venezuelans were among the 58 passengers on the plane.
10:02The government of Haiti has requested extreme measures in the face of escalating violence.
10:08However, an alert was issued due to the presence of gangs in border communities and following
10:12intense clashes in the Carrefour area of Port-au-Prince, Prime Minister Garry Conil called for increased
10:18efforts by the security forces.
10:20The Premier has joined the list of politicians who are sceptical about holding a general
10:25election in 2026 in view of the wave of violence that remains unrestrained despite the presence
10:32of foreign police forces.
10:35The Prime Minister acknowledges the disadvantages with which the war on crime is being waged.
10:40According to their figures, there are 130 police officers for every 100,000 citizens.
11:01The Belarusian Foreign Ministry summoned on Saturday the charge d'affaires of the
11:05Ukrainian embassy in Minsk, Olga Timosh, to denounce the violation of its airspace by
11:10Ukrainian drones launched to attack Russia.
11:12Kaif was made responsible for the violation of Belarusian airspace by a group of unmanned
11:18aerial vehicles launched from the Ukrainian territory.
11:22The Belarusian Foreign Ministry, besides warning about the danger of this provocation and the
11:27risk of an escalation of the regional situation, told Timosh that Minsk reserves the right
11:33to respond to other similar incidents.
11:36On the other hand, it is said that it will reconsider the suitability of the Ukrainian
11:40diplomatic representation in Belarus if it cannot influence the prevention of such provocations.
11:55Tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate.
11:58On Sunday, the interim government of the Russian Kursk region confirmed at least 13 wounded,
12:04while the Ukrainian authorities reported two dead in Kaif.
12:07Governor Alexei Smirnov explained that 13 people were wounded as a result of the fall
12:13of a Ukrainian missile in a residential area.
12:16At least two of those wounded are in serious condition.
12:20The attack, described by Smirnov as a terrorist advance, also caused a fire which has already
12:25been extinguished by the firefighting unit, which formed the 12 emergency teams which
12:30attended the situation.
12:32Regional authorities in the Ukrainian capital Kaif confirmed two deaths after a Russian
12:37attack without giving any details.
12:45The government of Serbia received information from Russia about preparations for a coup
12:50d'etat in the country.
12:52President Aleksandar Vukic released the information, noting Russia alerted him to the preparations
12:58for riots and a potential coup d'etat.
13:01The head of state pointed out that those fantasizing about doing something by force will not reach
13:06their cup-mongering dreams.
13:09Serbia is moving forward tirelessly and will never be stopped, he concluded.
13:14Currently, the Security Information Agency, main intelligence entity of the Republic,
13:19is working with the information provided by Russia.
13:22Previously, the police reportedly arrested four masterminds who were planning to generate
13:27violence and riots in Belgrade.
13:44In Serbia, citizens protested against plans to open a mine for the extraction of the lithium-bearing
13:53mineral jadarite and started a procession through the central streets of Belgrade.
13:58The protesters arrived with banners and placards calling for a halt to mineral extraction in
14:03the country and started the movement after calls to block parts of the access to the
14:07capital.
14:08The crowd also chanted slogans of no digging and shouted insults at the head of state
14:14as he passed at the presidential palace.
14:17The state security forces were obligated to block the advance of the demonstrators due
14:23to the obstruction of important roads and arteries.
14:26These demonstrations took place after the Serbian government warned of a possible coup
14:30d'etat, claiming to have received relevant information from Russian intelligence.

15:41because of the military, financial and political support given to the occupiers.
15:48The spokesman Nabil Abu Rubaydene stressed in a statement that the U.S. administration
15:53must end the blind support that has left thousands of children, women and senior citizens dead.
16:00Some of the governments that pronounced themselves against this unfortunate event were Cuba,
16:05Venezuela and Russia.
16:10In Iran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani denounced that the continuation of
16:16the Zionist regime's attacks against Palestinian civilians proves once again that the Israeli
16:21regime does not comply with any of the rules and regulations of international law.
16:26The Iranian diplomat stressed that this recent Zionist aggression represents a clear threat
16:31to international peace and security.
16:33Likewise, the Iranian President Massoud Pashinyan strongly condemned this recent attack and
16:39urged the international community and the United Nations organization to play their
16:43role in preventing Israel's crimes against humanity.
16:51In the same vein, the government of Egypt rejected Israel's unwillingness to put an
16:55end to the aggression against Palestine.
16:57Through the Foreign Ministry, it denounced the increase in the siege every time the efforts

18:03The movement detailed that it was a drone attack against the Israeli military base alone,

18:12They also stressed that the operation was carried out in response to Tel Aviv attacks
18:17on southern Lebanon in the city of Saida on August 9th.
18:21In this context, the Israeli base is used for training and houses the reserve of the
18:26northern command.
18:33In Israel, thousands of demonstrators have once again taken to the main streets of their
18:37country to demand the government to return to the hostages alive and an immediate ceasefire
18:42in Gaza.

18:49over by numerous demonstrators who rejected the policies of the extreme right wing government
18:54led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to manage the crisis with Palestine.
18:59After the brutal attack on a school in central Gaza, where more than 2,000 Palestinian civilians
19:05were sheltering, citizens feared a non-precedented escalation that could hinder the process made
19:11by Qatar and Egypt to re-establish the conditions for a ceasefire.
