00:00Welcome to this Synthesis 2024 in which Venezuela is the main protagonist.
00:30Welcome to Synthesis 2024 in which Venezuela is the main protagonist.
01:00The date of the Venezuelan presidential elections was chosen in a great agreement in which all
01:29political actors participated.
01:31In the month of February, the political actors of the country met to propose the dates for
01:38the presidential election.
01:40With the participation of 97% of the political parties and 152 organizations of political,
01:46social and economic life of the country, 500 proposals were received.
01:52These proposals were sent to the electoral power that finally decided Sunday, July 28,
01:59as the date for the great electoral party.
02:01There began the countdown for a new electoral process.
02:08We humbly hope, Mr. President, that you will attend and evaluate this document, which we
02:16do not hesitate to classify as historic, that you may review based on your prerogatives
02:23and your functions, what is contained in this document, and that you will set the
02:30table so that the electoral party may be activated.
02:37We are very pleased to receive this proposal.
02:41We begin to study it and we will be giving the people of Venezuela permanent information
02:49on how this process of study of the proposals you brought here is going.
02:58In this presidential election, 38 political parties will participate, supporting 10 candidates
03:04for the presidency, the largest number of candidates in the last 30 years.
03:12For these presidential elections, there were 10 candidates running.
03:17In spite of this, despite the fact that there were 10, the voting intention was focused
03:22only on two of them, the candidate for the Gran Polo Patriotico Party, Nicolás Maduro,
03:29and the extreme right-wing opposition candidate, Edmundo González.
03:33Let us review each one of them and their proposals.
03:38The first candidate, and nominated by the great patriotic pole Nicolás Maduro Moros,
03:43led the campaign under the slogan Hope is in the Streets.
03:46In the final stretch of the campaign activities, Chavismo closed in Caracas after touring more
03:52than 180 localities in defense of the achievements reached, promoting the vote, a call for unity
04:00in the face of coercive measures of the United States and for a national political dialogue.
04:06On the other hand, the candidate of extreme right-wing for the so-called Democratic Unitary
04:10Platform, Edmundo González Urrutia, was characterized for being absent in most of
04:16the campaigns, which were led by the extremist María Corina Machado.
04:21González Urrutia came from a long pause of holding public office without presenting a
04:27clear proposal for the country, but opening a new way to a process of privatization of
04:32education, health, and oil.
04:35The group of presidential aspirants included the candidate of the Hope for Change Party,
04:40Javier Bertucci, an evangelical pastor and businessman, also running for the Democratic
04:47Action Party, Luis Eduardo Martínez, one of the longest-serving candidates in politics.
04:54At that time, he declared that violence was never the way.
04:59The candidate for the opposition party Primero Venezuela, José Brito, maintained his campaign
05:04with criticism to the national government and at the same time rejected the imposition
05:08of coercive measures by the United States and requested by the extreme right-wing.
05:14We continue with Daniel Ceballos, the candidate of the Arepa Movement, who presented the Arepita,
05:22a cryptocurrency that would be proposed if he became president.
05:26In allusion to the ultra-right-wing president of Argentina, Javier Millet, Ceballos used
05:31a chainsaw to interpret a supposed break with the current political parties.
05:39Antonio Ecarri, for the Lapiz Party, defined himself in his electoral campaign as a central
05:44liberal, adding that among his government plans would be to prioritize education and
05:50national production.
05:54From the party Solutions for Venezuela, the candidate Claudio Fermin, of long political
05:59trajectory in Venezuela, presented himself in this context, with a government proposal
06:05of integration with the factors of production and as a government of amplitude.
06:10The candidate for the People's Center Party, Enrique Márquez, held positions within the
06:16National Electoral Council and was an opposition parliamentarian for the UNT Party before the
06:22National Assembly.
06:24He was the candidate, together with Edmundo González, who refused to sign the Agreement
06:28of Acceptance of the Results of the Commercial Entity.
06:31Finally, for the party Confederación Nacional Democrática, Benjamín Rousseau ran again
06:37in the electoral contest.
06:39Rousseau defined himself as a candidate not aligned with either left-wing or right-wing
06:44movements.
06:45He offered a governance pact to facilitate an orderly and peaceful transition.
06:53The authorities of the Venezuelan National Electoral Council announced, in the early
06:57hours of July 28, the installation of more than 95% of the polling stations.
07:06Everything was ready for the great democratic exercise that finally took place.
07:13The President of the Electoral Power, Elvis Amoroso, offered a balance in which he confirmed
07:19the installation of the voting centers nationwide, as established in the schedule, while confirming
07:25the installation of 95% of the polling stations.
07:29Thus, the Venezuelan people participated in the electoral festivities of Sunday, July
07:3628, and went from the early morning to the polls to express their will through the vote.
07:44However, the day was spoiled by the sabotage of the data transmission system by the national
07:52and international extreme right-wing, a fact denounced by the rector of the CNE with the
07:58purpose of affecting the systematization of the electoral service.
08:03In spite of all the attacks of the extreme right-wing against democracy and institutionality,
08:08the election day demonstrated the collective commitment to the defense of sovereignty,
08:13peace, and stability of the Venezuelan people.
08:18Venezuela reaffirms its electoral culture, consolidated with the arrival of the Bolivarian
08:23Revolution in 1999.
08:25Since then, 31 elections have been held in compliance with the participatory and protagonist
08:32nature of democracy enriched in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
08:40These presidential elections in Venezuela, those of last July 28, had a clear winner,
08:45the candidate of the great patriotic poll, Nicolás Maduro.
08:48After midnight, the electoral authorities announced President Nicolás Maduro as the
08:53winner with 51.20% of the votes, a figure equivalent to 5,532,000.
09:05He was followed by the candidate of the extreme right, Edmundo González, who obtained 4,445,938
09:12votes, we're talking about 44% of the vote, while the rest of the opposition candidates
09:19added a little more than 4 percentage points.
09:26International observers of the Venezuelan electoral process assured that this is one
09:31of the best electoral mechanisms of the world and urged the international community to support
09:37the democratic process and to condemn the destabilization attempts made by the Venezuelan
09:43extreme right wing against the Venezuelan people.
09:48Through a communiqué they expressed, we congratulate the Venezuelan people for the realization
09:53of this democratic electoral process, which has been a true example of participation,
09:59civilism and transparency.
10:01Likewise, they emphasized, we recognize the valuable work of the National Electoral Council
10:09of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela that granted the realization of elections throughout
10:15the Venezuelan territories through an electoral mechanism with the highest standards of transparency
10:23and audibility that placed them as one of the best in the world.
10:28Thus, he concluded, we congratulate President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the great patriotic
10:33pool for this resounding victory for peace, the future and the happiness of the Venezuelan
10:40people.
10:41We call on the international community to support the Venezuelan democratic process
10:46and condemn the attempts of destabilization and violence by the international and imperial
10:55Venezuelan extreme right wing.
10:58It's time to take a breath.
11:00We're going to pause.
11:01As we said before, we're going to show a video, but it must be said that this video is manipulated
11:07by the social networks.
11:09Look at the extent to which the way in which the facts about Venezuela were shown.
11:16This video was manipulated by the extreme right wing in social media.
11:21Just got a procedure with a boy who came with a gun.
11:24Good thing you caught them.
11:26Whoever you see protesting, you kill them, you shoot them.
11:29Nobody has the right to protest in Venezuela.
11:32And if he goes to jail, torture him, break his legs so he never protests against me.
11:39If you kill one of those boys, I give you more money and a house.
11:43I'm not going to.
11:45I'm the one who's in charge here.
11:48I promise a blocked path and that's what I'm going to give you.
11:52We already have several deaths.
11:53When they see 20 more, they'll get scared and don't protest.
11:57Long live for Chavez and revolution.
11:59Here is the real video.
12:02Some guys were coming with guns.
12:06It's no justification.
12:08They were paid $50.
12:11Who paid them?
12:13Two boys, who paid them?
12:15I don't have more information.
12:18Don't let them go.
12:22That's a procedure.
12:23This zone has been very violent.
12:28Then I'm very happy that you are protecting the people.
12:32These are criminals.
12:34We have more than 1,200 criminals captured, trained in Texas, Colombia, Peru, and Chile.
12:42They were trained to come and attack, to burn.
12:48They tried to burn this hospital, the community, safety, and you.
12:52Is that a protest, political struggle, burning hospital?
12:55That is terrorism.
12:57That is right.
12:59That's fascism.
13:00Are these people ready to govern this country?
13:02No.
13:05I'm fighting.
13:07I'm counting on you.
13:13Long live the Bolivarian National Guard.
13:32Synthesis 24 shows you the best of Venezuela during this period.
13:43There was everything, a lot to tell.
13:46After the results of the presidential elections, it must be said that the Venezuelan extreme
13:51right wing, unfortunately, carried out riots in several cities of the country.
13:56The following is an account of the damage caused by the extreme right during the demonstrations
14:04and riots nationwide on July 29 and 30.
14:09Violent groups attacked at least 11 subway facilities, 28 metro bus units, 27 transport
14:17and 10 police commands, 27 monuments and statues, 57 educational institutions, 10 facilities
14:25of the National Electoral Council, and 10 houses of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.
14:31Following the fascist violence, the Venezuelan Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino Lopez,
14:36denounced that these armed groups were seeking to perpetrate a coup d'etat against President
14:41Nicolás Maduro.
14:46A coup d'etat failed by these fascists of the extreme right wing, supported, of course,
14:54by the imperial factors.
14:57In the balance, Attorney General Cedric Williams said, fortified, that those involved in the
15:02violent acts are not political prisoners, but criminals who lend themselves to carry
15:06out terrorist actions.
15:09These people are not political prisoners, unfortunately, they are criminals who lend
15:20themselves to carry out terrorist actions, crimes, paid by the so-called little commanders.
15:30In order to clarify the facts of violence, the Attorney General announced the formal
15:34installation of a Committee for Justice of Victims of Fascism.
15:38He emphasized having compiled more than 300 videos and evidence that shows the truth of
15:43what happened in the presidential elections of July 28.
15:49We have achieved expertise bigger than the previous one.
15:53If at the beginning there were 200 videos showing evidence that is part of the investigation,
16:03today it is almost 300 videos that prove what was happening.
16:14In the face of these crimes of political violence, state authorities announced that justice will
16:19be granted and the intellectual authors of these acts will be penalized.
16:24The Attorney General affirmed that those who are declared innocent by means of investigation
16:29which do not determine their criminal responsibility to go to trial will be released immediately.
16:39Following the violent acts promoted by the Venezuelan extreme right wing after the July
16:4328 election results, who refused to recognize the victory of Nicolás Maduro before this,
16:52President Maduro showed a contentious appeal before the Supreme Court of Justice aimed
16:58at these results.
17:05After following violent acts promoted by the Venezuelan extreme right wing after the July
17:1128 election results, President Nicolás Maduro filed a contentious appeal before the Supreme
17:16Court of Justice aimed at investigating what happened during the electoral process.
17:23I am willing to be summoned and requested, interrogated in any part, investigated by
17:35the electoral court as a presidential candidate who won the elections of Sunday and as a head
17:42of state.
17:43I show my face.
17:45I comply justice.
17:47After the court accepted the appeal, the presidential candidates were summoned and requested the
17:53National Electoral Council to submit the documents related to the process in order to formally
17:58initiate the investigation and verification aimed at certifying the results.
18:07Nine of the ten candidates attended a call of the highest court.
18:11Eight of them subscribed the minutes and committed themselves to contribute to the investigation
18:16to clarify everything related to the presidential election.
18:20What I ask the Supreme Court of Justice is that for the peace of the country, for the
18:26future of our nation, and for the faith and trust in the institution of the vote, everything
18:39that happened on July 28 be clarified, be brought to light, and that we transparently
18:47accept the results such as the audits expressed them.
18:53The electoral chamber started the expertise of the electoral material consigned by the
18:59National Electoral Council, a procedure based on the thorough examination of all the evidence
19:06by the technical staff.
19:08Based on the thorough investigation of the materials submitted, the Supreme Court of
19:11Justice declared the lawsuit filed by President Nicolás Maduro admissible and validated the
19:18results of the presidential election offered by the CNE.
19:24It certifies in an objectionable manner the electoral material and validates the results
19:35of the presidential election of July 28, 2024, issued by the National Electoral Council,
19:45where Nicolás Maduro Monos was elected as President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
19:55Rodríguez also ratified the content of former presidential candidate Edmundo González
20:00Urrutia for not complying with the summons issued by the electoral chamber.
20:06That the former candidate Edmundo González Urrutia did not attend any of the phases of
20:11this process to which he was summoned, and therefore did not comply with the order of
20:17this, the highest instance of the contentious electoral jurisdiction of the Bolivarian Republic
20:24of Venezuela, nor with the consignment of the tally sheets, the list of witnesses, or
20:32any electoral material.
20:35Consequently, he disregarded the mandate in respect to the judicial authority, demonstrating
20:45his reluctance without leaving the constitutional order, a conduct that entails essential foreseeing
20:52in the legal system in force, homeland, constitution, law and order.
20:57This is how the Venezuelan President described the sentence of the Supreme Court of Justice
21:02that ratified the will of the people.
21:05After carrying out a technical, scientific, professional and legal work based on the laws
21:11as the judicial power of the nation, it has issued a historic and conclusive sentence.
21:19We say from the streets of La Guaira and Venezuela, holy word, let there be peace, absolute respect
21:34for the public powers, respect for the right to peace.
21:40The Venezuelan President called for unity and dialogue among all Venezuelans who work
21:46for the development of the country and the peace that the ultra-right wanted to take away.
21:52Continuing this order of ideas and facts, last September 7, Venezuela's Vice President
21:59Delce Rodríguez, through Instagram, reported that the former presidential candidate of
22:05the extreme right wing, Edmundo González, had left the country to Spain after the Venezuelan
22:12government granted him a safe conduct.
22:15For those living in Zaire, Venezuela, there was no major surprise.
22:19Here is the announcement.
22:22In a communiqué, the vice-mandatory expressed,
22:26Today, September 7, the departure from the country of the opposition citizen Edmundo
22:31González Urrutia, who had voluntarily taken refuge in the embassy of the Kingdom of Spain
22:36in Caracas several days ago, and requested the processing of his political asylum before
22:42the government.
22:42In this sense, once the pertinent contact between both governments had taken place,
22:46the extremes of the case were fulfilled and, in accordance with international legality,
22:50Venezuela granted the due safe conduct in order to preserve tranquility and political
22:55peace of the country.
22:56Following the communiqué, the foreign ministry of Spain expressed that the government of
23:01Spain and Venezuela did not carry out any political negotiations.
23:05There has not been any type of political negotiation between the government of Spain
23:09and the government of Venezuela, nor is there any counterpart to the departure of Edmundo
23:14González from Caracas upon his arrival in Madrid.
23:16The only contact that there has been, logically, in order for a Spanish Air Force plane to
23:22land in Caracas, an authorization is needed and a grantee.
23:27When the Spanish embassy vehicle was moving from the ambassador's residency, where Edmundo
23:32González was staying, to the Spanish Air Force plane, there was not going to be any
23:36incident.
23:37That's the only contact there is.
23:40The vice president of Venezuela denied the declarations of the Spanish foreign ministry,
23:45who claimed that they would be unaware of the process of negotiation and transfer of
23:50the former candidate Edmundo González after he was granted political asylum.
23:54That falsehood is not a good advice for conversations and contacts took place to operationalize
24:00the departure of the oppositionist González Urrutia from the country.
24:04In this regard, Venezuelan foreign minister Iván Gehl informed that the former ultra-right
24:09wing candidate González Urrutia was taken refuge in the embassy of the Netherlands during
24:12the fascist violence unleashed after the election.
24:15The head of diplomacy informed that Caracas will send a note of protest for the diplomatic
24:19irregularity.
24:21The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Dussaro Cabellillo, affirmed
24:25that the former candidate Edmundo González Urrutia went to Spain fleeing from the most
24:30radical extreme fascist right wing headed by María Corina Machado.
24:34The president of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, asked the Foreign Policy
24:39Commission of the Legislative to draft a proposal to vote in plenary and urge the president
24:45to break diplomatic and economic-political relations with Spain that includes companies
24:50and even flights from Spanish airlines.
24:55Pass a resolution to be approved by the plenary urging the government of the Bolivarian Republic
25:03of Venezuela to immediately break up all diplomatic relations, all commercial relations,
25:13all consular relations.
25:18All the representatives of the legislation of the government of the Kingdom of Spain
25:23and consulates and consuls leave the country.
25:27For his part, Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro said he respected and understood that
25:33decision of the former candidate Edmundo González Urrutia to request political asylum
25:37in Spain and stressed that the steps taken are for the peace of the country.
25:42I can say to Ambassador González Urrutia, with whom I have confronted hard after July 29,
25:53that I have been attentive to all this and I understand the step he has taken and I respect it.
26:03And I hope he does well on his way and in his new life and that he can be sure
26:11that his wishes for peace and harmony for the country will be fulfilled.
26:16In Venezuela, peace will reign above anything else.
26:23Today, Venezuela is in peace while the country is moving forward with an economic growth of 8.7%
26:29and more than 70% of investors are betting on Venezuela.
26:35And what is the situation now? We are coming to the end of the pact,
26:39a very interesting account that has shown what is going to happen on January 10.
26:45That is a key date when Nicolás Maduro will take office as constitutional president of Venezuela
26:51for the period 2025-2031. According to the provisions of Article 231 of the Constitution
27:01of Venezuela, the president will be sworn in before the national parliament as president-elect
27:06after his victory on July 28. Nicolás Maduro confirmed that he will be present
27:12at the legislative seat to comply with the provisions of the law. According to the state's
27:19legal regulations, the elected president could be sworn in before the Supreme Court of Justice
27:24in the event of any supervening motive. We will now say goodbye to this special program
27:30with a song that fills us with hope, drive and joy. The song Venezuela, hope is in the streets.
27:36Stay tuned with Telesur.
