00:00Okay lads, the spot is both in the changing rooms, there's nobody to expect, protect yourselves
00:08at all times, obey my commands at all times, touch gloves, good luck boys.
00:12Final instructions then from Hugh Russell Jr, so this is the first fight tonight with
00:16a belt on the line, 10 rounds for the vacant Commonwealth silver featherweight title and
00:21the Belfast boy Cole Murphy gets the chance to win the title, he's an interesting fellow
00:26with a degree in quantity surveying, he was actually studying for a masters in construction
00:31before turning pro, so brains and brawn for Murphy Rich, yeah indeed and he'll be the
00:38favourite going into this one Fletch, but for Turner you know he's 6-1, he's got nothing
00:43to lose really and he'll just throw everything at it, and sometimes being an underdog like
00:49that can pay dividends, but like I say Murphy will be the favourite here, the home man.
00:5824 Cole Murphy won all 11 fights, 3 of them inside the distance, Jack Turner's lost once,
01:04that was his last fight when he challenged the late Andy Tam for the Scottish title,
01:08he was stopped in the sixth and he's straight back into another tough test tonight, so he's
01:13hoping that was just a bad night at the office, but Murphy's the man who's settled the quicker
01:18here, yeah he's got a more basic guard as Murphy working well behind his jab, the problem
01:23that Turner's got early is he's getting too close with his left hand, he's far too low,
01:28so when he's in punching distance that's when you know he's going to get caught with the
01:32right hand, if he keeps moving into that sort of mid-range section and then lowering his
01:38left hand, that's when he's going to get caught with the right from Murphy, so he's got to
01:41keep his guard a little bit higher in punching range, Murphy the local lad, the public school
01:46boy in the black and grey trunks, the white and blue for the Glaswegian Jack Turner, five
01:53years older and at the moment can't get off these ropes.
02:07He's got quite an upright style hasn't he Murphy?
02:10Yeah he's fairly tall in the range isn't he, but pretty basic guard, he does the basics
02:15very well, keeps the guard nice and high, works behind some nice straight shots, you
02:20feel even early on here that Turner's got to try and close that gap and get in on the
02:25inside, but he's got to keep that left hand like I say, it's got to be higher when he's
02:29in punching range, look he's taking so many risks is Jack Turner, both of them relatively
02:36inexperienced, 11 fights for Murphy, 7 for Turner, and it's been a decent opening round
02:43for the man they call crossboy, but he just took one there, decent shot off the ropes
02:47from Turner, which might just start to settle him down a little bit, 30 seconds to go in
02:52the first round here.
02:53Yeah a couple of well timed punches there from Turner, sat back on the ropes, and he's
02:59trying to make Murphy just overreach and then come back with his own good shots when he
03:05caught him with, but for me Murphy's took this round on that front foot, the pressure's
03:10been just a little bit better for him, just a little bit of reddening already under the
03:14right eye of Jack Turner, so we'll just keep an eye on that, final few seconds here of
03:25the first round, vacant Commonwealth silver featherweight title, this one's scheduled
03:29for two.
03:40Make memories with Get Your Guide, unforgettable travel experiences.
04:11in Jack Turner's corner, the two points he made were, you're spending too much time on
04:16the ropes, and you don't need to throw the double jab before you throw the right hand,
04:19just a single jab's enough.
04:21I certainly agree with what he says about him being on the ropes, his feet are coming
04:26square, his target area's coming full on, he's too open.
04:31Murphy's fighting in Belfast for the 11th time tonight, he went to a Methodist college,
04:36it was a rugby school he says, known as posh boy for a reason, admits he had real doubts
04:43about his potential as a boxer, really is a fascinating individual, he's only decided
04:49to follow his heart and turn professional, and he does list the IBF super featherweight
04:54champion Anthony Kikachi, who's ringside tonight as an inspiration, and he's cheered
04:59on by this local Belfast crowd here, and he's taking the fight to Jack Turner right now.
05:05Yeah another good positive start isn't it from Murphy, I can see what Turner's doing
05:09he's on those ropes, he's trying to keep the head low, and then whip a shot over the top,
05:13but his guard is a little bit too leaky and he's getting caught too many times, I understand
05:19what he's trying to do, trying to bring Murphy onto that shot, that right hand over the top
05:23especially, but like I say his defence isn't good enough in that position.
05:29Better work coming in here from Cole Murphy, the local man,
05:38great work right hand right through the middle, and there's not a great deal coming back from
05:42Turner, but he's going to have to show the desire to fight his way off the ropes,
05:46otherwise he's going to be in for a long night, got to listen to his corner, got to move off the
05:50ropes, and try and get him to bring space, he's got full range of movement, when he goes back
05:56onto those ropes that movement's restricted, and then he's wide open, he's a tough kid Turner,
06:01but he doesn't want to be taking too many shots on those ropes.
06:10See now that's good defensive work there from Turner, but he needed to punch off that fletch,
06:16couldn't have got the slips left and right and rolled, but he needed to punch after that,
06:23if you make the opponent miss, you've got to make him pay, you've got to come back with something,
06:28it's a typical Murphy performance to this point, he's all energy in there,
06:32not possessed with great power, but he does tend to wear down the opposition, and he's a
06:37constant punching machine as you can see in there now, the work rate for the Irishman extremely high,
06:44yes keep switching the attack doesn't he, so he started the head and then he'll switch downstairs
06:48with that left hook to the body, and he's just wearing Turner down, but there is opportunities
06:54on the inside for Turner, he's just looking for them now, there he was there, so it's a peek-a-boo
06:59style, and he's just waiting for the opportunity where Murphy may just drop his hand slightly,
07:04then he comes back maybe with that left hook, or the odd body shot.
07:13Final 20 seconds of the second round, and Murphy right now the more accurate fighter in there,
07:18but he's also outworking Jack Turner.

08:07Okay yes, come on the opportunity comes without the hands, come on, start twice now okay, yeah,
08:12yeah, yeah, feeling good, confident, yeah, look great, look great son.
08:16That's Dan Boyle doing the talking in Murphy's corner as we see some of his work in the second
08:21Richie. Yeah straight shots, but the job's made it a little bit easier for Murphy because Turner
08:26just backs into that corner, there's no head movement, and so Murphy just keeps punching,
08:30but nevertheless switches the attack downstairs, that's a good sustained attack.
08:37So they come for the third vacant Commonwealth silver featherweight title on the line here in
08:42Belfast today at the SSC Arena, with the crowd starting to build nicely, Piers O'Leary against
08:48Dara Foley in the Dublin Derby, that's for the WBC international super lightweight title,
08:54that's next, and then the vacant Commonwealth flyweight title on the line, Conor Quinn of
09:00Belfast against Conor Kelsall from Doncaster, that's the main event here for us a little bit
09:06later on. There's nothing spectacular about Murphy's work, he's pretty basic, flat-footed,
09:14but nevertheless he's effective with his straight shots, front foot pressure fighter no doubt,
09:19but Turner for me, if he just can slip a few shots like that there, but he needs to come back
09:25with the odd punch himself, so slip to the left and whip the right hand over the top,
09:29that might be a shot for Turner to try, there he was there, right on cue. Yeah perfectly set up
09:35Richie, that's what he's going to try and do, spent a lot of his fight there with his back to
09:39the ropes, and when he has got him on the ropes, Murphy's very keen to land as many shots as he
09:44can, the work rate of Murphy very high in the opening three rounds.
10:05I took a really nice right hand at the start of the attack didn't he Turner, but he managed
10:18to land one of his own at the end, it just sent the spray cascading off ahead of the glass reach,
10:23and when Murphy landed that one, I agree with you though, he just walks him down,
10:28and he's far too happy just to walk back to the ropes isn't he Jack Turner, without any real need.
10:32Here he is again with his back on the ropes, and that allows Murphy then just to do what he wants
10:39with him when he's got him over there. I mean some fighters prefer that they like to actually
10:43go back onto the ropes, but they just need educated a little bit about the bad position they're in,
10:49and it always looks better the judges that are watching, seeing the opponent coming forward,
10:53putting you onto the ropes, then your feet come square, you get caught with the odd shot,
10:57it's a negative position, it's hard to make it positive, you've got to really concentrate and
11:02time the shot over the top, as the opponent's coming forward, not impossible, it just can be
11:08difficult. Belfast has been a good city for featherweights down the years, we've got an
11:12excellent former world featherweight champion in our team tonight, Kyle Frankson, who's enjoying
11:17this one, and it's the man from Belfast at the moment who's in the ascendancy here, coming
11:22towards the end of the third round, and he's piling up the points in the early stages here
11:28against Jack Turner, that's not bad though from Turner, that left hand, lovely shot.
11:58Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep,
12:29nice and positive in his responses to Colin Belshire, it was all going in there Rich.
12:33Yeah, I mean for me he's three rounds down, but there is something about Turner isn't he,
12:38he's got a bit of skill about him, he just needs to avoid more shots as Murphy's actually coming
12:44forward, has to concentrate, see on silly things like that, going to the body of that left jab,
12:48getting caught with that right hand counter, because he doesn't get that jab back to the
12:52on-guard position, so you know you're making a few mistakes, you've just got to try and avoid
12:57getting hit a little bit more, but he's got some skill about this kid Turner,
13:01just feels like he needs a round, a decent round, just to really get him in the fight,
13:06as Richie says, the general consensus is the first three rounds have been won by Cole Murphy,
13:10so he's already got a bit of distance to make up on the judges cards,
13:15and he's back on those ropes again, voluntarily almost,
13:18see that's not a bad shot at all there, that right hand over the top there from Turner,
13:27although he's back on the ropes, just slipped to the left and got the timing right,
13:31but there that's the negative side, what we're looking now,
13:34because his feet are square and gets caught flush with that right hand from Murphy.
13:42There's been a lot of respect between the two of them in the build-up,
13:45Murphy said they'll both have a beer together when it's all said and done tonight,
13:49so there's no need for all of that, we're in there to do a job, respect between the two of them,
13:56of course the boxing landscape has changed markedly in the last year,
14:01and it's not necessarily these days about an unbeaten record, but it's about whether you're
14:06entertaining or not, and if you are entertaining, there's a certain man in Saudi Arabia who likes
14:10to add you to his cards, so the opportunity is there for all of these people that we're seeing
14:14tonight, to make a mark in some way shape or form, yeah they agree there, entertainment is what it's
14:21about, more so these days, the pace has slowed a little bit down there, Murphy's been cool with a
14:33couple of shots, so the pace, the slower pace is actually suiting Turner, he can pick his shots
14:38and pick his counters a little bit better, so I think Murphy's just naturally, he's slowed down a
14:43little bit, it's probably three rounds up, this is a closer round, and this pace suits Turner most
14:49definitely, he did throw a lot of punches didn't he in the opening three rounds, every attack seemed
14:53to be quite a ferocious one from Murphy, and you wonder whether he can keep that going for the full
14:58ten, as it slows down as Richie says, it might just allow Turner to do more of his own work,
15:03although here he comes again with another flurry of shots, that will catch the eye of the judges no
15:09doubt, yeah good eye catching right hand there for Murphy again, this turn tips the balance
15:14doesn't it, for the last 20 seconds of this round, it's a little bit more flair about Turner,
15:25look at this, he's just
15:30aggression and pressure for Murphy, and it is so effective,
15:36and there's a cut as well on the eye, Jack Turner
15:39cut over the eye, that's another little twist in the plot here in Belfast.
15:54Three in the middle with grilled onions and double cheese, we've got to see that again,
16:00absolute melter, the new hatchet burger from McDonald's, get stuck in until the 16th of July.

16:18Welcome back to Belfast,
16:20I think this is it Richie, yeah there you go, a little clash of the couple of clashes there,
16:40with the heads, that last one was probably the one where you think it's happened,
16:45and just go back to the way that round ended, relatively even until the last minute or so,
16:50when he started to flurry again Murphy, but Turner when he stands square on the
16:55ropes is a sitting target, I mean he can't miss it Murphy can he, can't miss him at all,
17:01but the feet go square you see Fletch, and then the target area comes full onto the opponent,
17:06he can switch the attack, and your movement is obviously restricted, you can only go left or
17:11right, and a lot of times Turner is just staying on the ropes, inviting the pressure,
17:19unless you get that timing and split second right hand over the top,
17:24then it's a bad position to be in for me,
17:35I actually think that Turner probably had his best round in the last round,
17:39I don't think he did enough to win it, the last 20 or 30 seconds probably just
17:43tipped it slightly more to Murphy, but still the worst signs, better signs in that round
17:49that Turner was getting to grips with it, and I think it's mainly because the pace slowed down,
18:02this is another round with a minute and a half to go, where the pace has dropped,
18:08you wonder whether there's a Murphy flurry at some stage that might just nick it for him,
18:15Central managed to stem the bleeding to this point, although as I say that it just starts
18:20to flow again from the right eye of Jack Turner, I'll tell you what Fletch, he was just inches away
18:26from landing that right hand over the top, then Turner he almost got the timing right,
18:31there it is there, there it is again, so he's waiting for it now, sitting back on the ropes,
18:36Murphy's feet have slowed a little bit and that's just helping Turner to judge that
18:41distance a little bit better, and he's trying to walk him onto that punch, not far away,
18:48Turner's five years older at 29, he's been a pro two years longer than Murphy, having turned over
18:53in 2019, he's never really been that active though, he's never had more than two fights
18:57in a calendar year, and this is the first time that we've seen him in 2024, and he's on the
19:03ropes again towards the end of this round, and this is where Murphy tends to do a little eye
19:08catching stuff and then nick the round, well there's not been a lot in this round up to now
19:12ever, and yet Murphy again is finishing the round stronger, and that may just tip the judges again
19:18for him,
19:39and there's the bell, so let's bring in Karl Frampton, Karl how are you seeing it,
19:45I mean the way Richie's analyzing this, Murphy's doing enough to win all of the rounds, and we're
19:49a little bit surprised that Turner voluntarily seems to move back to the ropes at every opportunity,
19:54yeah I would agree, Turner's kind of just given up the center of the ring far too easy,
19:59but what I will say is anytime he's had a little bit of success, it's been from off the ropes,
20:03and he's been throwing these left, short left hooks, and short right hooks, but
20:07they're sporadic, they're not really happening that often, Murphy's completely in control,
20:13he just needs to be careful that when he does get close, and he's putting pressure on,
20:17when Turner has his backs to the ropes, that he doesn't allow himself to get nailed one end short
20:21left or right hook, thank you Karl, so he's the man with the lead, there's Richie's Karl,
20:29you've given him all five rounds, and that's not a surprise, I'd be very very surprised if the
20:33judges Lee Everett, Terry O'Connor, and Mark Bates are seeing it any differently to that,
20:38yeah I think so, like I said the last couple of rounds have been closer, but I just don't think
20:43Turner's done enough to win them, and that's the way I see it anyway,
20:51a little word there from Hugh Russell jr, the referee at the start of the round, so
20:54into the second half of the fight, and work to do for Glasgow's Jack Turner, based on Richie's
21:01unofficial card here, he's just got to concentrate a little bit more Fletch, with his right hand over
21:07the top, because I think there's something in that for Turner, he's just got to set Murphy up,
21:11as he's coming forward, let them feet slow down a little bit, and if he gets the timing right,
21:16then he could produce a good shot over the top, that could change things around,
21:32Jack Turner who was cut right at the end of the fourth round at the corner,
21:36seems to have done a decent job, that wasn't a bad shot there Fletch from Turner,
21:43good right hand over the top, as he thought Murphy could move forward, all you say though Rich,
21:48they're single shots though, yeah they are, the volume work is coming from Murphy still,
21:52even if as you quite rightly pointed out, he's slowing down,
21:56you see if Murphy's accurate with that jab, that long straight jab, it makes it more difficult
22:06for Turner to land that right hand over the top, but if Murphy misses the target,
22:12with his lead hand and falls in, that's when he's got to get the timing right,
22:16that's when you've got to slip to the right, to try and draw the lead of the opponent,
22:19slip to the right, and then whip the right hand over the top, as he's actually coming forward,
22:24and with him coming forward, the power then doubles up, and that's what Turner has got to
22:29try and concentrate on doing, get the impression that he's just started to feel the pace a little
22:34bit though Murphy, because he's not throwing as many punches as he was, even when he gets
22:39Turner on the ropes, he's not throwing as many shots as he was having success with earlier in
22:44the fight, just one or two encouraging signs here for Turner, despite the cut,
22:50he's going to need a big finish though,
23:21he carries the vision, I think this is a round that's still there for the take,
23:25yes this is really, nothing in this round, nothing at all
23:38just tried to sneak that overhand right in again there, didn't he Turner, just fell short
23:41trying to get a few seconds here with a sixth, chucked a little right hand there
24:12come on, bring it up, all right yes, you do this every day, we do this every day in the gym,
24:18every single day, that's why we do it for, okay yeah, it's fun doing it, all right yes,
24:24control the distance to your feet, let your hands go, up and down okay,
24:27don't let him throw you down, you dictate the pace, okay, up, get up
24:36Dan Boyle going for the motivational tactics, he got a couple of slaps around the cheek as well there
24:43probably what he needed, the coach there obviously thinks that Murphy's just
24:46slacking off a little bit, and that was a close round
24:53so this is the first time that Turner's been past six rounds in his professional career,
24:57Murphy's the one with the experience of longer fights, having gone eight rounds
25:02three times, but uncharted territory for the Glaswegian Jack Turner
25:09who we think is significantly behind on the scorecards
25:16Murphy's trying to bring his right hand into play as well now, behind that jab, like I say if the
25:23pincers are nice and straight and accurate, the job then for Turner is made even more difficult
25:29right hand over the top, wasn't too far away there, so there's plenty of opportunities for
25:36Turner to land the odd shot here and there, and Fletch, Murphy's in close quarters there,
25:41Turner's probably got to work a little bit harder when they're in close quarters
25:58back to the ropes, that was a really nice combination from the Irishman, and now he's
26:12looking to apply the pressure again, with Turner trapped on those ropes once more, yeah good
26:19pressure there from Murphy, actually got caught with a little left hook from Turner on the inside,
26:24but the volume certainly came from Murphy didn't it, and now centrally there just keeping that
26:30hands nice and high in between the combinations is Murphy, he's trying to block what comes back from
26:36Turner, Turner's not happy with something in there, he keeps saying something to Hugh Russell Jr the
26:43referee, and the work rate of Murphy has increased again in this round after that dressing down from
26:50Dan Boyle between rounds, he's probably got enough to this point to win this round as well hasn't he Murphy
27:01yeah he's certainly listened to his coach as he's up the work rate again
27:06that's what was needed, we've said all along that the slower pace seems to suit Turner a little bit
27:11better, you can just time his counters, he seems to cope with this with the slower pace
27:32final 20 seconds of round seven
27:34right
27:58wasn't happy in that round was he, by any stretch of the imagination Jack Turner,
28:01let's see if he says anything about it to Colin Belshaw
28:15yeah good time
28:24he's not landing much, no he's not, stupid couple of wee shots I'm allowing, don't raise your
28:27perception, that's it, all right but just cut him here, jab him, some stuff like that all right yeah
28:32but listen, keep your shape the way you're going to, all right, half the next round we can start moving a bit
28:37keep it as it is just now, okay
28:49well Jack Turner there, asking Colin Belshaw how he's doing, if your scorecard is a fair indicator
28:55of the way that the judges here are seeing it Richie, did he need to be a little bit more
28:59honest in his assessment there, well maybe so because I think he's way behind here, so I've
29:05scored it, I've been a little bit closer but it's always in that last 20 or 30 seconds where Murphy
29:12seems to have another burst and I just think he's been, he's the fighter that looked more aggressive
29:18looks like he's taking the contest to the opponent
29:23a couple of good little moves from Turner but there's just not enough of them and
29:27a lot of the time that the guard is far too low and he's getting caught from his own mistakes
29:32trying to get the right hand away when he's back to the ropes again but then
29:39the volume of Murphy's work is what's going to catch the judges eye, single shots at this stage
29:44aren't going to be enough for Jack Turner
29:53that's what Turner maybe should have done a lot more of as well on the inside flex, are those
29:58body shots, he's just caught Murphy with a nice little left hook to the body there, if you look
30:02at the elbows of Murphy they're fairly wide, so he's fairly open downstairs, not a right hook we've
30:08got on the inside there from Turner but he hasn't really targeted that body
30:14and like you said he's never been past six rounds so I think he's really feeling it now as well
30:20Turner, seems to go after this one halfway through the eight
30:26I don't know whether you caught that, I mean the language was what it was but I mean he's basically
30:38saying to he's basically saying to Murphy watch your head and he's he's snapped now Turner and
30:44that's what's been bothering him, he thinks that the head work of Murphy's a problem, he's got
30:49another cut now over the other eye and that's what's been winding him up and you could hear
30:54him audibly say to Murphy watch your head in there mixed in with another few choice words as well
31:00and the referee has obviously missed that hasn't he with the head Turner clearly thinks it's
31:05another head clash that's that's resulted in the second cup
31:14well you know this damage to be inspected by the ringside doctor
31:25so the docs are quite happy, Turner adamant the blood's not running into his eye
31:34well I'm very surprised there that decision by the referee sorry the doctor
31:41well looking I mean he's obviously closer to it than what we are fetched and looking at from where
31:45we're sitting in the pool I mean bad stuff the second one yeah the damage to the left eye is way worse
31:51looking at me you can see and the blood's really flowing from that
32:0130 seconds to go in round eight and everything's started to go wrong in there now for Jack Turner
32:05another confidence booster Murphy
32:20tough kid turning yeah there's head work on both sides in there
32:23Richie which the referee's got to keep an eye on
32:27shot from Murphy
32:28and there's the bell and the face of Jack Turner is a mask of blood and you
32:37can just see how much is flowing from that fresh damage over the left eye
32:48this is where the second cup came rich we think let's have a look here
32:53oh there yes definitely and he literally screams out doesn't he turn it
33:00have a look at it here there it is there he just yells the irony is rich it came about 10 seconds
33:08after he administered his own warning to Murphy about using his head
33:13don't tell them that but here we are and what's surprising
33:15it was sort of on the side of the referee
33:28it's a bad cut indeed
33:42both of them into the ninth round for the first time in their careers and
33:47again Hugh Russell jr having to say to Cole Murphy watch your head
33:57for me that's all he has to do now he just worked behind those straight shots
34:01I think he's home and dry here doesn't need to be taking any real risks
34:06and missing the target falling in you can turn at a chance that right hand over the top
34:12um
34:21Jack Turner absolutely covered in blood blood flowing from cuts over both eyes
34:27and he's going to be taken to the doctor to have a look again
34:43okay
34:48can fight on I wish you could see Richie's face you're amazed yeah I am amazed I mean
34:56to me I think this fight should be stopped but um here you go that's the doctor like I say he's
35:02closer to it than what we are so we have to go with what he says so that's twice he's had a look
35:06two minutes to go in the ninth
35:11seems only a matter of time before this fight gets stopped with that severe damage
35:15over both eyes of Jack Turner must be affecting his vision has to be Murphy unloading again
35:24Murphy needs to do now is just create a bit of space half a step back and just punch into that
35:28space then make the referee give the referee a decision to make there you can see the blood
35:36all over the shirt of Hugh Russell jr the referee I don't think he's going to need too
35:40much encouragement to stop it as you say Richie just a bit of composure and just create create that gap
35:52it's a tough kid turning you've got to give it to him absolutely real true fighting spirit that
35:56he's got and this is sensible now from Murphy Richie just poking that poking that left jab
36:00doesn't need to do anything else as you say no doesn't need to fall in like that at all just
36:04keep the punches nice and straight Turner he's been looking for that right hand over the top
36:11produces a left hook on the inside what a belter that was taken superbly well you must say
36:19face of Jack Turner a grotesque mask of blood 40 seconds to go in the penultimate round
36:26and the man from Glasgow continues to show character and bravery to still be in there
36:32rocking shot right hand from Murphy nothing really coming back from Turner right now he's
36:39in full survival mode here look at the state of him Richard yeah still looking for that shot but
36:47the straight punches there for Murphy that just um eliminates that shot in a way makes the bent
36:54arm shot over the top ineffective because Murphy's shots are nice and straight and accurate hitting
36:59the target so Turner it just isn't close enough to land that bent arm shot it's like a scene from
37:04a Rocky movie blood all over the body of both men Murphy's round again and there's the bell
37:29he shouldn't be talked out of it by his fighters should he
37:38well the relationship is obviously really close between the the boxer and his coach
37:45the boxers pleading there isn't he
37:59so Jack Turner will come out for the tenth and final round he's managed to persuade Colin
38:10Belshaw that he's okay that cut over his left eye which is a really bad one yeah he's going to be out
38:15of the game for quite a long time for that one to heal but uh what what a fighting spirit he has got
38:23for me he's only been given i've only given me one round for all his
38:26the guts and the effort that he's put in so he needs a stoppage on Richie's card
38:33it's a very very agitated man in there Jack Turner it's all about composure for Murphy
38:38who's got the lead and again you cannot underestimate the desire and bravery of
38:46Jack Turner no you can't and you're still looking for that shot there it is there but
38:49he just hasn't got the timing and the accuracy in that right hand over the top he's landed the
38:54left hook on the inside so he's fairly dangerous still but it's the straight shots of Murphy when
39:00he gets the accuracy like these then they've been the more telling they've literally won in this
39:07fight with the pressure from Murphy absolutely he's got to dig deeper than he's ever done in
39:13his professional life Jack Turner he's got to find the stoppage he's got two minutes to do it
39:19and Murphy continues to come forward and throw those long straight scoring shots
39:24with Hugh Russell jr the referee very very close again he's survived two inspections by the doctor
39:30having been taken to his corner by the referee Turner he's been allowed to continue he's managed
39:36to persuade his his trainer that he's okay to carry on and he's got 90 seconds now to do something
39:43about it in there you know what I should have been stopped a lot earlier than this I actually
39:50want him to get to the end of the fight now Turner he's such a brave kid but what he's got to do he's
39:56got to keep punching occasionally or the referee the doctor is going to step in again this is the
40:01third inspection
40:10and the doctor says he can't continue
40:16and I think that's the right call maybe that could have happened a couple of rounds earlier
40:21but the ringside position saying that he's in no fit state to continue the damage over the
40:26eye the left eye in particular is far too severe you heard the conversation between
40:31doctor and fighter and as heartbroken as Jack Turner is it's hard to argue against it
40:36well it is hard and I actually thought it should have been stopped a couple of rounds earlier to
40:42be quite honest when you've got two cuts like that that are above you know they're on the right eyelid
40:46of both eyes the blood's running into the eye impairing the vision then it's fairly you know
40:51dangerous situation there must have been times there where he just couldn't see out of those
40:55eyes and that really makes it dangerous for the boxer 100% credit to him in terms of his bravery
41:03strong kid but for me this contest shouldn't have gone as long as it did
41:19so based on the fact which he was an accidental clash of heads in the fourth round it will go
41:23to the cards at this point it will be a technical point decision here yeah we've just had a quick
41:29conversation with Lee every one of the judges well I think you know Murphy will be a long way ahead
41:35won't he um the stoppage eventually come but if that goes to the scores cards then I can't
41:41I can only see one winner here and that's that's uh Colm Murphy
41:45he's pacing around the ring here Colm Murphy probably moments away from picking up his first
41:55belt as a professional the vacant commonwealth silver featherweight title and after everything
42:01they've been through the sport of boxing always brings that kind of embrace at the end
42:10great sportsmanship between the two of them
42:16so it looks as though we're just about ready here
42:22so let's go to Thomas driver
42:27ladies and gentlemen here is the official time one minute 38 seconds of round number 10
42:34our physician at ringside has advised our referee in charge Hugh Russell Jr. to stop the contest
42:43due to severe lacerations therefore your winner by way of technical knockout still undefeated
42:52and now the commonwealth silver featherweight champion Colm Posh Boy Murphy
43:04so Colm Murphy's won it and now the question will be asked by Colin Belsior as to why they
43:10didn't go to the cards and that's why he's gone marching across with his fighter straight
43:15to the referee Hugh Russell Jr. there's the conversation yeah there's confusion isn't
43:22in there isn't especially from the the Jack Turner
