00:11Here we go, and three years separate, slight height, slight reach advantage for Masson, I don't think you're going to have to go far with this one, I think they're going to be in front of each other, banging away, we've got a small ring,
00:28we've got two big cruiserweights and we are ready for our main event, Josh Francis, the right-hander in the black trunks predominantly, Floyd Masson the left-hander, the former IBO cruiserweight champion in the blue trunks, his first fight in the calendar year.
00:48Yeah, first fight for Floyd, but I probably don't think that's a bad thing, I think three of his last four fights have been absolute wars, so I think the time would have served him well, the time off I should say, and yeah, you know what you're going to get with Floyd Masson and that's all action-packed and it's always a blood and gruesome affair, so he's jumped straight into the deep end here, but with Joshua Francis, he's a proper good fighter, is Francis.
01:15Tia, looking at Floyd Masson and his rig, he has developed into quite the specimen, his development, his improvement, his progression, whatever you want to call it over the last two years has been astonishing, he looks like a pro-athlete.
01:32Definitely does, I mean and Joshua by the same breath is the same, he's come in great condition, we saw last time when he knocked over the other local Ben Kelleher back in May this year, he always comes prepared, you can see both boys in tip-top condition and they're going to put on a spectacle for sure.

02:12Very crispy is Floyd Masson, his shots are very crisp, very sharp, that's one difference I've already noticed here in this opening round, very quick and sharp shots coming from the blue corner.
02:26Two big strong young men here, cruiserweight are limited just under 91 kilos, they weighed in comfortably under that, they'd be over that by a few kilos right now.
02:46Although the punches are heavy, although the punches are often, there's that feeling here that they're just holding both a bit back, Masson walks into a counter right hook.
03:04They scored with one and then got one back.
03:07Predefining fight for both these guys in terms of where they go for the back end of this year and the front end of next year, scoring shot for each guy.

03:28Francis has only had the two losses, one came way back in his quota boot and the other one came to New Zealand hot pot, Jerome Pamplon, so there's certainly no shame in that.
03:38As we see some replays of this first round and it was a really good one, really sharp shots by both boys.
03:47So fast and so crisp was Roy Masson, especially compared to previous fights.
03:53But both boys have come to fight and they both want to leave with this victory because it's a big victory, it's a career defining victory like you said Andy.
04:05For the loser here, being really honest, it's going to be soul searching time and where do I go from here.
04:12For the winner, they'll get a real pick me up and jockeying for a prominent spot over the next six to nine months.

04:54Good body shot in place there from Floyd Masson, both boys come to get a tangle up, a warning from the referee once again Phil Austin and that's good body work there from Joshua Francis, this is really willing.
05:09The reason he's going to the body, really simple especially in the higher divisions, you want to go to the body, you want to start tenderising the body to drop the elbows and drop the defence of your opponent.
05:24The body shots slow him down, the shots up high finish him.
05:34Tapping away on the inside, Masson bullying his opponent.
05:41A good variation shot there from Masson, not loading up with every shot, you can sort of see tapping, tapping, tapping and then pouring in for one of the shots with a big power, that's a good variation there from Masson.

06:52He's feeling surrounded at the moment is Josh Francis and his defence is to be aggressive and to push forward and lean and muscle in.
07:03Yeah exactly, his defence is his offence so to speak but it's a hard task especially when you've got a big puncher in front of you like Floyd Masson and very dominating like you can see, like you said he's gained a lot of muscle in this year and he's a hard rock to move.
07:22That's a beautiful young twins Floyd Masson, back to the corner as we go, two rounds down, enjoying this one already.
07:35You can see some replays of that second round and it was another goody, plenty of output by the big boys once again, both come and come to fight, like I said this will be one of the biggest scalps of both their careers if they can achieve this win.
07:58Good work in close by both boys, not leaving any opportunity.

08:35Both boys really well put together, young bulls.
08:41Round three, just an eight rounder, it's been a while since Floyd has fought just an eight rounder, certainly would have been especially coming off obviously being the world champion, he's fought over 12 rounds and previous to that it was 10 round durations that he fought people like Mark Flanagan and the like.
09:05Show you what Francis is doing Andy, he's coming forward with his head down low barrowing, so if I was Masson in this corner I'd be saying let's bring up the uppercut.
09:18Maybe not as easy because Floyd's the natural southpaw, but yeah you're exactly right Nathan and that's the theory isn't it, goes back to what I was saying last round, Francis is coming forward and trying to close the gap but trying to make Floyd also carry his weight, wear him down that way.
09:41It's probably a good tactic, coming off a one year layoff, potentially we'll catch up to him in the later rounds, but knowing how good of a trainer Masson is, he would have left no stone unturned for sure, 100%, the ultimate professional.
09:59He's coming in here 100%, you've just got to look at his previous fight Andy, he left nothing in the tank and he fought every fight like his last and threw plenty of punches for big boys.
10:11Just go back to his fights with obviously Yves Nagabou, Marc Flanagan, Fabio Turchi, wow that was fight of the year, 100 out of 100.
10:27An amazing good left hand there from Flanagan, he's got Francis rocked here a little, and the big boys they open up a bit.
10:41Oh these left hands from Masson, they will shorten up anyone really quickly.
10:49Floyd loves the fact that he's a crowd fighter, he's an entertainer, he's a fighter more than a boxer and after each fight, before his next he says things are changing, I'm boxing better, I like boxing and I don't want to be that guy.

11:15Body shots there, Masson he's hurt him a couple of times there, wow he's really starting to rock the head back and the body is taking some punishment as well.

11:39He's starting to get a little one sided, you've got to turn things around, you've got to be more competitive mate, understand me?
11:46Ok there's a piece of advice from the referee, the term is defending yourself intelligently and obviously Phil the referee didn't think that was the case, we've taken a look at some of the highlights.
12:00But you go to the body to try and lower the elbows and lower the hands, but even if that doesn't work, even if you don't lower the elbows and hands, going to the body if the shots are good enough, it just knocks the stuffing out of you.
12:17Yeah it depletes the gas tank that's for sure and especially this is an 8 by 3 minute contest so a lot longer than previous fights we've seen tonight so it can definitely catch up with you in those later rounds.
12:31Ok Francis comes in, almost stands front on and just starts bullying again and I'm saying that as a positive, he's trying to bully and he's trying to push forward, make Floyd carry some of his weight and wear him down.
12:49But because he's on the inside that's actually going to suit Floyd Masson and it's going to suit Floyd Masson's body shots as well.

13:03It's a great display, both boys throwing plenty of punches once again for the big boys.
13:08Oh good body shot once again and close there from Masson.
13:12I can see he's going to start defending himself because Bill Austin is very close to stopping this fight because when he's hitting him to the body he's really hurting him.
13:27Changing levels, he was nice and high there Masson. He looks so fresh Floyd.
13:34He does after a 12 month layoff looks better than ever and like I said a 12 month layoff to most people would be terrible but for somebody that's coming off so many hard fights consecutively it's a good thing for Masson.
13:49And it's done, Floyd Masson is back, that's a statement, that's a statement from the former world champ.
13:58100% it's a statement because he never looked rocked at any stage, his condition is impeccable, his physique is impeccable and that performance was impeccable.
14:10He's back and he's back hard, he's Floyd Masson.
14:18He's been in some absolute wars over the years, Floyd Masson.
14:24That is as good as he has looked at as his control but a controlled aggression that was superb, wow.
14:37BOD, he's back.
14:40Yeah new corner Andy, it's a change as good as a holiday sometimes they say and it's served that way so far.
14:49A very experienced corner with plenty of good fighters in their camp, one being Dan Hill and the other being Isaac Hartman.
14:57As we can see some replays of that final round and that was the stoppage, it was all just too much for Joshua Francis.
15:06And let me tell you he didn't fight back against Phil Austin so it's probably a good stoppage.
