00:00Pontypridd is gearing up to host one of the most important events on the Welsh cultural
00:06calendar, the Nationalised Stethford, and there's hope from councillors that the thousands
00:10of people descending on the town will bring in a much needed boost for the local economy.
00:15It's believed the Nationalised Stethford is Europe's largest cultural event, with roughly
00:19160,000 people expected in Rhondda Cynon Taf between the 3rd and 10th of August, and some
00:25estimates say that it could bring in as much as £16 million to the local economy.
00:30The council have put £275,000 towards the Stethford, so it's estimated that they will
00:34bring roughly £60 into the local economy for every pound the council invests into the
00:39festival, a welcome return during a difficult time for local authorities.
00:44Rhondda Cynon Taf does not have the highest number of Welsh speakers in the country, but
00:48a spokesperson for the council says that regardless of your ability in Cymraeg, it's a great opportunity
00:53to get involved and make the most of having such an important cultural event right on
00:57your doorstep.
