00:00And your company is watching CreateUp and of course with an interesting theme today,
00:05which is to set a wooden wave through startups and has been connected through Zoom with Habib Abdullah Fakih,
00:11CEO and Founder of Echowood.
00:14Mr. Habib, thank you for joining us in CreateUp.
00:17And before we dig deeper, can we get to know Echowood first?
00:20What kind of platform or company is Echowood?
00:24Okay, sure.
00:26Echowood is a start-up business that focuses on helping entrepreneurs or end-customers
00:35to get the best quality of wood products.
00:39So, Echowood itself started from several issues,
00:44including the minimum or limited platform that focuses on wood traceability,
00:51then the increase in wood waste and also carbon emissions.
00:55Then, from some of those issues, the best solution is to present Echowood
01:00with several features, first traceability,
01:05where we can ensure that the entire wood waste management process can be certified.
01:12And we can also monitor all the knowledge or information from the wood waste management process
01:21in the Echowood platform.
01:24Okay, how long has Echowood been established?
01:28Echowood is a new business, we just started in early January 2024.
01:36Okay, so it's new, it's still fresh.
01:39Can you explain a little bit about the process or business model of Echowood itself?
01:46Okay, the process and business model of Echowood itself is
01:51we connect buyers and also suppliers in our Echowood platform.
01:57Then, if the supplier feels that they can provide quality wood waste products,
02:04then the supplier can send the product to Echowood.
02:08Echowood will do quality control.
02:11After the quality control is felt to be sufficient and can be passed,
02:15then we will store it in the Echowood warehousing.
02:18After storing it in the warehousing,
02:20then we will directly send it to buyers who are affiliated with Echowood.
02:26Okay, to then become a buyer affiliated with Echowood itself,
02:31or to become a distributor of quality wood waste,
02:35what is the mechanism like?
02:37So, we have collaborated with several buyers.
02:43For example, in PLN and also buyers that we have received since January,
02:49there is one from a Japanese buyer.
02:51This Japanese buyer, we have received a letter of intent
02:54where the buyer has purchased 10,000 tons of wood pellets per month.
03:00So from there, we will connect suppliers who have collaborated with Echowood
03:06with buyers who are affiliated with us.
03:09Okay, so it's actually already connected between the distributor and the buyers,
03:15and even big names, even from abroad, are already connected with Echowood.
03:19This is related to the production of wood pellets.
03:23Can you explain a little bit about the process,
03:27what is the result, and what is the use of the buyers?
03:33Actually, the process of processing the wood pellets
03:37originates from a piece of wood that is processed in a certain way
03:41until it becomes the wood pellet itself.
03:43The use of one of our products, the wood pellet,
03:46is used for several things.
03:48Among them, the first is for alternative fuel,
03:52large industrial such as manufacturers,
03:55and also the wood pellet can be used for drying materials
03:59or drying materials for the F&B industry.
04:03And also, the wood pellet can be used for commercial installations,
04:07for heating rooms, for houses, offices, or schools.
04:10But for this heating room,
04:13we focus on several countries that have cold weather.
04:18Okay, so it can finally become an alternative fuel,
04:22and of course, this is in line with the government's efforts
04:26to meet or chase down carbon emissions.
04:31And Eco Wood is also called to meet the carbon rules, right?
04:34Why is it called that?
04:36We will go over the details later,
04:38but for now, let's go back to CREATE UP.
04:42We are still in CREATE UP,
04:44and we will go over our topic today,
04:46which is related to the process of processing wood through start-ups.
04:50Mr. Habib, Eco Wood is called to meet the carbon rules.
04:53What is it really like?
04:56That's right.
04:57So, we promote and help forest farming
05:01responsibly and continuously.
05:05So, we also contribute in preventing wild farming.
05:09So, why does wild farming have a lot of impact on carbon emissions?
05:14Because the tree itself stores a lot of carbon.
05:17When it is cut, the carbon that is released is a lot
05:21and has an impact on the carbon emission earlier,
05:23or has an impact on the environment.
05:25And we are not only focused on sustainable forest farming,
05:30but we are also focused on reducing wood waste.
05:34So, from there, we contribute in preventing environmental issues
05:38in terms of reducing carbon emissions earlier.
05:41Wow, amazing.
05:42This is of course in line with the target set by the government,
05:46all this time to then reduce carbon emissions,
05:48and we hope Eco Wood can still contribute a lot in this matter.
05:52Now, related to the business itself,
05:54are there any obstacles that have been encountered so far?
05:57Mas Habib.
05:58For the business itself, the biggest obstacle is
06:03the education of the Eco Wood platform to the user.
06:09Okay, what is it like?
06:11Because at the same time, this is an old business,
06:16so we want to use the digitalization side.
06:19Sometimes, if the player is old, we educate them with something new,
06:24with this technology, sometimes it takes effort.
06:28So, maybe from us, the obstacle is in the education of the Eco Wood platform itself.
06:33Okay.
06:34So, what is the strategy to overcome that obstacle?
06:37And maybe also actually,
06:39is there a difference that is the most significant
06:42between Eco Wood and a platform or a competitor of a kind?
06:46Okay, for the education itself,
06:48actually we do education through how to use our technology,
06:56we explain what traceability is,
06:58what is the function of digitalization,
07:00the education is like that for our effort.
07:03And for our competitors,
07:04actually the unique thing about Eco Wood that we have is
07:08first, we use QC and warehousing,
07:11so for every lumber product,
07:13we will do QC first before we store it in our warehousing.
07:18Warehousing itself is also included in the excellent features that Eco Wood has.
07:23Not only that, we also have traceability features
07:26where traceability features can track
07:29and ensure that all lumber manufacturers are certified.
07:33And all of that can be obtained in one package,
07:38which is using Eco Wood.
07:40Wow, this is very complete.
07:42Then what Eco Wood does,
07:44Eco Wood also provides as a solution to the community.
07:47Then from the business side again,
07:50is profitability already profitable
07:52or what is the target of profitability in the future?
07:55For the target itself,
07:56we are one year ahead,
07:58if not now,
07:59because we are still like what I said earlier,
08:01it's still new in January.
08:06Okay, what does that mean for the future?
08:09For the profit,
08:11maybe we can share,
08:13we take 5-10% profit on the operational side
08:18and also 1% on the platform side.
08:21By getting buyers like PLN
08:24and also some Japanese buyers
08:27that I mentioned earlier,
08:29we hope that one year in the future,
08:31we will be able to make a profit.
08:33Okay, that's the closest target from Eco Wood.
08:36Then lastly, what is the hope of Eco Wood
08:40for this business itself, industry,
08:42or the hope for the solution offered by Eco Wood to the community?
08:49What is certain is that we want to overcome some of the problems earlier,
08:54where in the wood industry,
08:56there is not yet a platform that can achieve
09:01certifications,
09:02legality of wood origin,
09:05that's the first.
09:06And clearly, we also want to reduce wood waste
09:10and also contribute to the issue of carbon emissions.
09:13In the business itself,
09:15we hope that we can collaborate with
09:18more than 5,000 premium suppliers
09:22from the wood waste product itself.
09:26And we also hope,
09:28we also plan to expand the target market.
09:32And lastly, we hope
09:34we can build an ecosystem
09:36of wood waste management
09:38or wood waste management
09:41in our country.
09:43Okay, amazing.
09:44The hopes we hope
09:46can also be achieved.
09:48And of course, Eco Wood can have a more positive impact
09:52for Indonesia.
09:53Unfortunately, Mr. Habib, our time is limited today.
09:56Thank you very much for your presence
09:59and also the explanation of Eco Wood.
10:01And we'll see you another time.
10:03Maybe someday I'll come to the warehouse.
10:05Thank you, Mr. Habib.
