00:00It will be impossible for PAS, Bersatu and UMNO to cooperate at the next general election
00:08unless they set aside their egos.
00:11This is what Awang Azman Pawi of University Malaya told FMT after it was reported that
00:17UMNO leaders met with PAS to discuss an alliance for G16.
00:22Awang Azman said the three parties needed to find a common ground before they could
00:27work together.
00:29He also said such cooperation should not be limited to these three parties but should
00:33include fellow Malay Muslim party, AMANA.
00:37UMNO President Ahmad Zaid Hamidi later clarified that there had been no official discussions
00:42or meetings between UMNO and PAS.
00:45Bersatu Information Chief Razali Idris also said the party was not suspicious of PAS but
00:51rather welcomed such cooperation for the sake of Malay unity.
00:55In response, Analyst Azmi Hassan said Bersatu had reacted positively as it did not want
01:01to be seen as unwilling to support efforts to unite Malay parties.
