Nepal police on Wednesday (July 24) released a photograph showing the pilot of a crashed plane, who was the sole survivor, being rescued from the wreckage of a fatal accident that killed 18 people.

00:07sole survivor, being rescued from the wreckage of a fatal accident that killed 18 people
00:12on Wednesday.
00:14The Sauria Airlines pilot was identified by local media as Captain M. R. Shakya.
00:19He was taken to Kathmandu Medical College Hospital for treatment.
00:23It was reported that he suffered injuries to the eyes but is not in any danger.
00:27A total of 19 people, including two crew members, were in the Bokara-bound flight,
00:33which took off from Kathmandu at 11.11 am.
00:37The aircraft suffered a runway excursion and plunged into a gorge on the eastern side of
00:41the airport.
00:43The passengers were airline technicians travelling to Bokara for aircraft maintenance.
00:49The police reported that one of the passengers had been a Yemeni citizen.
00:54Sauria Airlines operates domestic flights in Nepal with two Bombardier CRJ-200 regional
01:00jets, both around 20 years old.
