Meet the dog detective saving millions finding water leaks for Sydney Water
Transcript
00:00Hi, my name is Nicole Harvey and this is Joey. He's a water leak detection dog and we're here today in the Blue Mountains looking for water leaks on our water mains.
00:30We've been working in the Blue Mountains for about nine months now. Both water and sewer leak detection dogs have actually saved Sydney Water $14 million.
00:43Joey picks up the water leaks on the water mains through the chlorine and fluoride in the water. So he's able to pick that odour up and actually detect it up to two and a half metres underground.
00:54Odour can escape through the sewer. You've got this coming through here in your meter tap. So it comes through the sewer. So here's me smelling that coming through. But we're looking for water for our main.
