00:00Next to Metro Manila, no other region in the country puts in more to the GDP than the southern Tagalog provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Quezon, otherwise known as Calabarzon.
00:11Hence, a critically important infrastructure project essential to economic development, the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network, which was initially approved in 2021, underwent a fine-tuning of revisions and rehashes before its final approval in yesterday's NEDA board meeting.

00:31The government has further intensified construction of infrastructure projects to strengthen the country's economy.
00:37In the 19th meeting of the NEDA board, presided over by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., the board approved several changes to phase one of the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network project.
00:47This includes the construction of connecting roads and interchanges covering Barangay Tunasan in Muntinlupa City, San Pedro in Binan, and Cabuyau in Laguna.
00:56The LLRN project, initially approved in 2021, aims to construct a 37.5-kilometer primary road and a 12-kilometer viaduct from Lower Bicutan, Taguig to Tunasan, Muntinlupa, as well as a 25.5-kilometer shoreline viaduct from Tunasan, Muntinlupa to Calamba, Laguna.
01:13The project is expected to boost economic activity in the National Capital Region, Calabarzon, and Central Luzon once construction wraps up in 2027.
01:22NEDA Board Vice Chairperson and NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan added, this will also help ease traffic challenges, providing safer, more convenient, and faster travel for motorists, especially in Laguna and surrounding areas.
01:34Phase two of the project is undergoing a feasibility study, expected to be completed by December.
01:40The NEDA Board also approved several conditions for the Bohol-Panglao International Airport project worth Php 4.5 billion.
01:47The Chief Executive also approved the directive for the DOT, R&K, UP to proceed with the 90-calendar day comparative challenge in accordance with the Public-Private Partnership Code and its implementing rules and regulations.
01:59The expansion project for the said airport aims to increase passenger capacity from 2.5 million per year at 3.9 million per year once the project status is complete.
02:09The NEDA Board also approved the parameters, terms, and conditions for the upgrade and expansion of the Lagindingan International Airport in Misamis Oriental.
02:17The NEDA Board stressed, improvements that have obtained in these airports demonstrate the government's push for stronger connectivity in the country, and expected to result in greater receipts and help create more jobs.
