00:00Police on Patrol, a Matchbox Heroes City book, is available for pre-order today.
00:29Early Monday morning, a group of officers assembled in the Heroes City Police Station
00:42for roll call.
00:43Settle down everyone, said the police lieutenant.
00:46I know you're anxious to hit the streets and start your shift.
00:50The lieutenant updated the officers on things they should watch out for on their patrols.
00:55That's it for now.
00:56Be safe!
01:00Officer Matt Sheldon and his partner, Officer Barbara Torres, headed to their patrol car.
01:07They worked together patrolling the same beat, beat number 16.
01:11They made a great team.
01:13Shall I drive?
01:14Asked Officer Sheldon.
01:16Officer Torres laughed.
01:18Every day you try that!
01:20No way!
01:21Now get in and buckle up!
01:26Suddenly, a call came through from the dispatcher.
01:30One Adam 16, code 2.
01:32Officer Sheldon picked up the hand radio and said, 16, go ahead.
01:37We have a huge traffic pileup at the intersection of First and Hill, continued the dispatcher.
01:43Copy, replied Officer Sheldon.
01:45We're on our way.
01:51Officer Torres turned on the red and blue flashing lights.
01:54The siren wailed as she floored the gas pedal.
01:57She expertly weaved in and out of traffic safely and carefully.
02:01You're the best driver on the street, Matt said to his partner.
02:06I know, Barbara replied with a chuckle.
02:08I love driving this police car.
02:14Before long, the officers arrived at the scene.
02:17A truck had crashed.
02:19There were piles of stinky fish everywhere.
02:23No one seemed to be hurt, so Officer Torres asked, what exactly happened?
02:28A dog ran right in front of my car, a woman replied.
02:32I swerved so I wouldn't hit the poor little fella, and...
02:36And you plowed right into me, a truck driver interrupted.
02:40Calm down, calm down, Officer Torres told them.
02:45Meanwhile, Officer Sheldon began to direct traffic.
02:50He directed traffic with one hand and held his nose with the other.
02:54Eventually, tow trucks were called in.
02:56By lunchtime, a clean-up crew had arrived to pick up all the stinky fish.
03:05Back in the police car, Officer Torres joked, let's not have fish for lunch.
03:10I agree, said Officer Sheldon with a laugh.
03:17After lunch, the officers patrolled the neighborhood.
03:21Another call came in around 1.35 p.m.
03:24One Adam 16, code 3.
03:2616, go ahead, Officer Sheldon responded.
03:30459 in progress, burglary at Hero City Bank, said the dispatcher.
03:35Copy, we're en route, said Officer Sheldon.
03:39With the lights flashing and siren blaring, the patrol car sped through the streets.
03:43It was the police to the rescue.
03:49The officers arrived just as the robber hopped into his truck.
03:53The officers took off after the truck.
03:55The chase was on.
03:57We're in pursuit, we're in pursuit.
04:00The truck darted in and out of traffic.
04:03Officers Torres and Sheldon were close behind.
04:06They weren't about to let the suspects escape.
04:09But the suspects weren't about to give up either.
04:12They pulled a quick U-turn and headed right for the officers' patrol car.
04:17Officer Torres swerved to the right just in time.
04:21Then she turned around and pursued the truck.
04:23The high-speed chase continued.
04:26Yeah, police guy, can you send me some backup, thank you.
04:32Just then, Officer Sheldon radioed for backup.
04:35He reported that the suspects were driving down Sunny Slope Avenue.
04:40As soon as the other officers arrived, they set up a spike strip.
04:43It was time for some teamwork.
04:46Rip, boom, blam.
04:50The truck went right over the spike strip, causing its front tires to blow out.
04:56The driver tried to maintain control, but the car went swirling around and around in
05:00circles before crashing into a fire hydrant.
05:04Then the suspects took off on foot.
05:07I've got eyeball on two subjects currently heading down Grand Avenue on foot.
05:13But no one can outrun a police vehicle, especially with Officer Torres behind the wheel.
05:19She cornered the suspects in an alley, and Officer Sheldon leaped out of the car.
05:23Police, don't move, he said.
05:26Hands behind your heads.
05:28The two officers took the suspects into custody, read them their rights, and put them in the
05:33back of the police car.
05:37The officers brought the suspects into the police station, booked them, and returned
05:43to their patrol car to finish out their shift.
05:46Just then, a dog ran right in front of their patrol car.
05:49Screech, went the brakes as Officer Torres made a quick stop.
05:54Good thing we were wearing our seatbelts, she said.
06:01The police officers jumped out of their patrol car and approached the dog.
06:05Be careful, Officer Torres reminded her partner.
06:09You shouldn't touch a strange dog.
06:11He might attack.
06:12But the dog happily ran over to the officers.
06:15Officer Sheldon found a dog tag on the dog's neck.
06:19To Gershwin Drive, he read.
06:22Maybe he was the cause of the accident back on First Street, Officer Torres pointed out.
06:27Let's take him home.
06:29Officer Torres drove to the house listed on the dog's tag.
06:33A young boy answered the door.
06:35You found Folly, the boy exclaimed.
06:38I thought he was gone forever.
06:41This dog needs to be kept on a leash when you take him outside, Officer Sheldon explained.
06:46OK, Officer, said the boy, and the dog licked his face.
06:53The officers headed back to their patrol car.
06:56The officers headed back to their patrol car.
06:59Their shift was finally over.
07:01Come on, let's go back to the station, said Officer Torres.
07:05It's been quite a day.
07:07Then she tossed the keys to Officer Sheldon.
07:10I'll even let you drive, she added with a smile.
07:26Thank you so much for watching.
