00:07Transport Minister Lok Siu Fook has denied any mismanagement in Mass Rapid Transit Corporation

00:12Sindoram Berhad following the National Audit Department's assessment that the rail operator's

00:17finances were unstable.

00:20He said the issue of MRT Corp being financially unstable does not arise given that it is a

00:25government-led company backed by the government and all its financial obligations were

00:29guaranteed by the Finance Ministry.

00:32Lok also said the 2024 Auditor General's report had taken the losses incurred by MRT Corp out

00:38of context as the MRT was intended for the public good and meant to serve as a catalyst

00:44for the economy.

00:45It is not only in terms of financial performance, but infrastructure development such as MRT

00:53and MRT Corp is to ensure economic growth, urban development, and to ensure good connectivity

01:05between one place to another.

01:09According to the AG's report, MRT Corp had suffered a RM181.5 million loss before tax

01:15in 2023.

01:17The report also said the company had suffered accumulated losses of RM57.624 billion since

01:24it was established in 2011.
