00:00What do you want to ask me about DJ Pickett?
00:02I'm my gut when I saw the 17th is that he's going to Oregon
00:06and I don't think it's going to change.
00:07And I don't think if he commits to Oregon, Oregon, he's coming back here.
00:11I've told you or I've told you before, Booker, Booker Pickett,
00:16his his cousin told we had him on our show.
00:20He said he never liked to get the canes.
00:22So he came down here.
00:24He understood everything.
00:25He was all excited about it.
00:27But in the back of his mind, LSU, Oregon.
00:31And I think it's going to be Oregon, because why would he change the date
00:35so quickly and so much further back than the October date they gave us originally?
00:41It's because he's not going to wait for Miami to see what they're going to do
00:44is my opinion.
00:46He's going to go to Oregon.
00:47Do I think we could flip him?
00:48No, unless Oregon stinks, which they won't be.
00:51Their preseason number four.
00:54They're loaded.
00:55Landing's doing an incredible job recruiting.
00:58So up until last week, when I saw this stuff with the date being changed,
01:02I thought we were right there.
01:04I don't think so anymore.
01:05I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
01:08I listen.
01:09I right now I'm leaning Oregon as well.
01:12I'm not I'm not quite as pessimistic as you are about it, because I've seen this,
01:16Bruce, especially in the era of NIL.
01:18Now, it's worth noting Oregon obviously is very strong in NIL.
01:22They got that Phil Knight money.
01:23And there's I know Barstool for what for what it's worth.
01:26They they reported recently that Phil Knight, who's 86 years old,
01:31is like he basically he's like, I want as much money as I need to pump into this
01:34to win a championship before my time is up.
01:37Right. So so so that is out there.
01:39But at the same time, I don't like nine days in most things in life.
01:44Nine days is not a very long time. Right.
01:47In recruiting, a lot can change in nine days, Bruce.
01:50I mean, it's July 8th right now.
01:51July 17th is the decision.
01:54This is a situation where Miami has put in, as Oregon has as well,
01:58I'm sure, put in just a ton of effort into this recruitment.
02:02This has been number one priority player for Miami for a long time.
02:05They feel like they've done a really good job with the official visit
02:08and all the unofficial visits.
02:10There's obviously going to be ongoing NIL factors in negotiations
02:14that are going to happen over the over the next nine days.
02:16That's just the nature of it.
02:17So by no means do I think this is over.
02:20Now, I do agree with you right now.
02:21He's probably just based on the feedback that we get from numerous different people.
02:26He's probably an Oregon lean right now, but it's not as strong to the point
02:30where it's worth noting, Bruce, that these recruiting experts
02:34who love to throw out their crystal balls and their predictions,
02:38there's not a single crystal ball for DJ Pickett to land anywhere.
02:42So, you know, if you go by his 24-7 sports profile, yes,
02:45there are a lot of people who think he may be an Oregon lean.
02:48There are some people who think he could be a Miami lean right now.
02:51There are no crystal ball predictions for DJ Pickett for Miami.
02:54I get I get it, Alex, but I just don't like the handwriting on the wall.
02:58And I don't understand why he would say what he said about waiting to see how they do.
03:02And now he's not going to wait.
03:04If he picks Miami, what happened that he's going to he changed his mind?
03:08You know, well, OK, I think no matter what direction he goes in
03:12and it very well might be Oregon, but no matter what direction he goes in,
03:15I think a decision has been made where he wants to get locked in early
03:19so that he can focus on his upcoming high school season
03:22and focus on the school of his choice.
03:24This was something that his father told Cane Sport.
03:27Now, you know, this doesn't this doesn't necessarily bode well for Miami
03:31on this front, Bruce, because like you mentioned,
03:33if he does commit to Oregon on July 17th,
03:36the chances to flip him are very slim because one of the things that his father
03:40told the Cane Sport on three was that their their plan is when he wherever
03:46he commits, they're going to shut down the recruitment after that.
