00:00In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
00:03Learn the method of Namaz-e-Tahajjud.
00:06Is it necessary to sleep for this?
00:08How many Raka'ats should we recite and how should we intend to do it?
00:12To sleep or to wake up at night in the Islamic Shari'ah after midnight is to offer Namaz.
00:17In the Holy Qur'an, this word has been mentioned only once in Chapter 17.
00:22Translation, O Prophet! Recite Tahajjud at night. This is a prayer for you.
00:27The Holy Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, has explained the greatness of this prayer.
00:34He used to wake up the wives of the Holy Prophet, Hazrat Ali and Hazrat Fatima at their homes for Tahajjud.
00:42The Companions used to offer this prayer regularly.
00:46The Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, had designated a place for this prayer in Masjid-e-Nabwi.
00:52In Ramadan Sharif, the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him,
00:56once offered Tahajjud prayer to the Companions from the Jama'at.
01:00On the second night, more people gathered and on the third night, even more.
01:06The Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, did not come,
01:09so that people would not consider this prayer to be obligatory.
01:13However, Tahajjud prayer is only Sunnah.
01:16This prayer can be offered at home and in Masjid.
01:20The Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, offered two rak'ahs in Tahajjud prayer.
01:26He offered four, eight and twelve rak'ahs.
01:29This is the time for Tahajjud prayer.
01:30After reciting the Fardh Ishaan, he would go to sleep.
01:33The next morning, when he would open his eyes, this is the time for Tahajjud prayer.
01:40After performing ablution, he would offer at least two rak'ahs.
01:43This is the time for Tahajjud prayer.
01:44The Sunnah is to offer eight rak'ahs.
01:46The Mashayekh is to offer twelve rak'ahs.
01:49Those who wish to recite the Holy Qur'an but do not remember it,
01:53can offer three rak'ahs in each rak'ah.
01:58The more rak'ahs one recites, the more reward he will get for reciting the Holy Qur'an.
02:03There are many advantages of offering Tahajjud prayer in Ahadith Sharifah.
02:07By offering Tahajjud prayer, a person's face becomes brighter and more beautiful.
02:13Those who offer Tahajjud prayer will go to heaven.
02:17What is the best time to offer Tahajjud prayer?
02:20In this regard, Sheikh-ul-Islam, Hazrat Maulana Hussain Ahmad Madani R.A. has written,
02:28that the best time to offer Tahajjud prayer is between Isha'a and Sadaqah.
02:33Hazrat Ayesha R.A. has narrated in Sahih that the Prophet, peace be upon him,

06:03Sadaqah,
06:05Sadaqah,
06:07Sadaqah,
06:09Sadaqah,
06:11Sadaqah.
06:19Because this is the time of night
06:21when prayers are accepted
06:23and Allah's blessings and mercy
06:25are sent down.
06:27Hence, in Hadith Mubarakah,
06:29Hazrat Abu Hurairah
06:31R.A. narrates
06:33that Rasool Allah
06:35S.A.W. said,
06:37Our Lord, blessed and exalted be He,
06:39every night, when the last
06:41one third of the night is left,
06:43sends down His glory
06:45upon the heavens of the world
06:47and declares,
06:49Is there anyone who prays to me
06:51that I should accept his prayer?
06:53Is there anyone who asks me
06:55that I should grant him?
06:57Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness
06:59that I should grant him?
07:01Similarly, in the Holy Quran,
07:03Allah the Almighty has mentioned
07:05at the hour of the night
07:07as a sign of repentance
07:09for the people of Paradise.
07:11Hence, Allah the Almighty says,
07:13The righteous people will
07:15be in such a state that
07:17their Lord will receive
07:19whatever He gives them.
07:21Those people were
07:23righteous before this.
07:25They used to sleep less at night
07:27and used to seek forgiveness
07:29at the hour of the night.
07:31Hazrat Abu Hurairah R.A.
07:33narrates that Rasool Allah
07:35S.A.W. said,
07:37Every one of you,
07:39behind your necks,
07:41Satan throws three
07:43stones at you.
07:45When you fall asleep,
07:47he throws this stone at you.
07:49There is still a lot of night left.
07:51Keep sleeping.
07:53If you wake up and
07:55mention Allah the Almighty,
07:57one of your necks will open.
07:59If you perform ablution,
08:01the second neck will open.
08:03If you pray,
08:05the third neck will open.
08:07In the morning,
08:09you will wake up cheerful
08:11and happy.
08:13Hazrat Abu Hurairah R.A.
08:15narrates that Rasool Allah
08:17S.A.W. said,
08:19Our Lord,
08:21the Most High,
08:23descends to the heavens
08:25every night.
08:27When the last night
08:29is left, He says,
08:31There is someone who prays to me.
08:33Let me accept his prayer.
08:35There is someone who asks me for something.
08:37Let me grant him.
08:39Let me forgive him.
08:41Abu Hurairah R.A.
08:43narrates that
08:45Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. said,
08:47When one of you
08:49wakes up at night for
08:51Tahajjud prayer,
08:53he should start his prayer with two
08:55light prayers.
08:57Hazrat Ayesha R.A.
08:59narrates that
09:01when Rasool Allah S.A.W.
09:03wakes up at night,
09:05he should start his prayer
09:07with two light prayers.
09:09In this Hadith,
09:11it is stated that
09:13in Tahajjud prayer,
09:15the Sunnah is to start with two light
09:17prayers and then
09:19extend the prayer as much as you want.
09:21As in Sunan Abu Dawud,
09:23Abu Hurairah R.A.
09:25narrates in a Mawkuf narration
09:27that after that,
09:29extend the prayer as much as you want.
09:31It is proven that
09:33Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
09:35narrates that
09:37in Tahajjud prayer,
09:39the Sunnah is to start with two light prayers.
09:41The wisdom behind this is that
09:43it stimulates the Nafs
09:45and when you extend the prayer,
09:47you will be prepared
09:49and Satan's traps will open
09:51because all the traps
09:53open at the same time
09:55when the prayer is completed.
09:57Regarding Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
09:59it is stated that
10:01Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
10:03used to start the Tahajjud prayer
10:05with two light prayers.
10:07However, Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
10:09was protected from the traps of Satan
10:11and he was pure.
10:13Therefore, Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
10:15wanted to teach his Ummah
10:17and guide them in this way
10:19which protects them from Satan.
10:21Therefore,
10:23it is proven that
10:25the Sunnah is to start with two light prayers
10:27and then extend the prayer as much as you want.
10:29The Sunnah has been proven.
10:31May Allah enable us to do good
10:33and include us among the good.
10:35Ameen.
