00:00There was a big crowd out for the annual Roe Creek cattle sale, held ahead of the Alice
00:07Brink show.
00:12More than 4,000 head of cattle were brought in from surrounding stations, while buyers
00:15flew in from all over, but particularly Queensland and South Australia.
00:19Prices reached a top of 362 cents a kilogram, or $1,770 a head.
00:26The cattle was exceptional, the best I've seen in seven years.
00:29Our cattle at the lead of our run got well over $3.
00:33We got up to $3.60 for a pen of the Fogarty family EU steers in from Palmer Valley.
00:38They had a great run of up nearly 700 black and black Mawley steers here, which were well
00:44above them, all had three pluses in them.
00:47We got background on the red cattle, and they dropped back down to the low threes.
00:52Our store cattle came back down, and the Framier cattle still got over $3, and we got back
00:57down to the high $2.70s or $2.80s for some little cattle over the back, but overall,
01:02in our sale, very good, and I think the other guys have had a pretty reasonable sale with
01:06the quality of their cattle.
01:07I suppose what we saw with the pricing was reflective of what we've seen around any of
01:12the sales that have been around.
01:13The nation is a feedlot, operators were here, and they were here in force, and they certainly
01:19supported those cattle that were on the better side of the threshold of 80 to 400 kilos.
01:22Those heavyweight cattle were well-received and priced accordingly, and probably our grassweight
01:29cattle were, what we've seen everywhere else, just a little bit less per kilo because of
01:33the grass factor versus the feed factor.
01:35It was a good line-up.
01:36A lot of the cattle also had some good grades up here over the last few months, and their
01:41cattle are showing good life for age, and the cattle is a bit, they'd be one of the
01:46best lines-up of cattle that I've been coming up here for three years, so in the three years,
01:51this one's the best one by far.
01:53Credit to the vendors in Central Australia, the quality of the cattle, didn't matter what
01:57breed they were, they presented up really well, and yeah, showcased the area really good.
