00:00What's your assessment of all this criticism from fellow Democrats about his performance?
00:07I've also seen people like Governor Shapiro, Governor Walz, Governor Whitmer, Speaker-to-be
00:13Jeffries as well, who talked about the president who was on that debate stage, obviously fighting
00:17for the American people and on the stage today in North Carolina, demonstrating that he's
00:22always going to get back up and continue to fight for the American people every single
00:25day and lay out the fundamental stakes of this election.
00:27Are we going to have a president who fights for the American people, protects their freedoms,
00:32stands up for our democracy, fights for an economy that grows from the middle out and
00:35the bottom up?
00:36Or are you going to have somebody like Donald Trump, who made it very clear on the debate
00:39stage last night, makes it very clear every single day on the stump, that he is fighting
00:43for himself as a convicted felon.
00:44He does not care about the harm that he causes, the chaos that he causes, the division or
00:48the violence that he sows, so long as Donald Trump comes out on top.
00:52That's what the president called out today in North Carolina, and that's the choice that
00:54we're going to continue to present to the American people going forward.
00:56Has the president made any phone calls to fellow Democratic leaders trying to calm
01:01people down?
01:02I can't speak to that yet.
01:03Go ahead.
01:04First, is the president sick, and did that affect his preparation for the campaign?
01:10I know the president did have a sore throat.
01:12But is he sick?
01:13Does he have a cold?
01:14You saw the president today on the stage in North Carolina forcefully deliver remarks
01:18today, so it's certainly not, the president would not cite a sore throat as an excuse
01:22for a debate performance.
01:23He had a bad night.
01:24He said that, right?
01:25So that's how you get back up, and that's what we saw in North Carolina today.
01:29Would you change the format for the next debate, or are you comfortable with a scene and conducting
01:35the debate?
01:36Listen, I think what you saw was Donald Trump get up there and lie to the American people,
01:41and I think the American people, as we move forward, are going to see that as they see
01:44him in primetime over and over and over again.
01:47So what this campaign is focused on right now on June 28th and as we move forward is
01:51communicating directly with the American people, not just of what the president's vision
01:55is for where he wants to take the country over the course of the next four years, but
01:59again, as people begin to understand the stakes and see Donald Trump back in the limelight
02:03once again, reminding them of the lies, of the chaos that he sowed, of the division that
02:08he sowed, of the violence that he sowed.
02:11That's what they saw on the debate stage last night, and that's why they fired him four
02:14years ago.
02:15So we're going to make sure that people continue to see that as we move into the summer months.
