00:00So, Will, looking at the summer window, obviously very slow news so far. A lot of Liverpool
00:06players aren't on international duty, whether that be at Copa America or Euro 2024. I mean,
00:14in terms of a transfer roundup, there's obviously not much to discuss just yet, but are there
00:18any plans in place for a decently big window, or how can you see the window going as a whole
00:25in terms of the expenditure and how they go in terms of preparing for the new season?
00:31Yeah, there have been a lot of links so far for Liverpool, but it doesn't seem there's anything
00:35really fully concrete. If you look at some of the players who've been linked to positions,
00:42it looks like centre-half and maybe an additional forward coming. I mean,
00:48we only have to look at past years. Liverpool don't really overhaul the squad. Last summer
00:53was a little bit of an anomaly when they brought four midfielders in, but I think everyone knew
00:58that a midfield rebuild was needed, and then for being on, Jordan Henderson leaving the club. But
01:05quite a few centre-backs who've been linked. Lenny Yoro at Lille, who's one of the most
01:12highly thought of players in Europe, young player in Europe, 18, played 44 games for Lille last
01:18season, so I'd put him in the Champions League. He's one who's on the shopping list, but Real
01:24Madrid is reportedly his preference. I mean, same old story for Liverpool, that with two or many
01:32gone there a couple of years ago, and obviously Jude Bellingham. So Liverpool, I don't think
01:37they'll learn, but maybe they're just waiting in the wings for a new centre-back maybe, might be on
01:43the radar. And then, yeah, potentially another forward as well, maybe a right-sided forward,
01:49someone who can maybe be a long-term successor for Mo Salah, because Liverpool haven't really
01:55got anyone in the squad who can play in the right wing as well. And I think maybe it calls up on Mo
02:02Salah last season. You know, he's played a lot of football since arriving at Liverpool in 2000 and
02:092017, and yeah, you know, Faber time maybe is catching up a little bit, and he just needs a
02:15little bit more respite, because it was unlike him to have a hamstring injury, and obviously he was
02:20ruled out for a significant period. I think some supporters would like to see another number six
02:26come in, because Witalia Wendell's the only senior option, but it very much depends if
02:32Arnis Loth thinks that is required, and what system he might be playing at the club.
02:37Yeah, obviously you spoke about the anomaly transfer window, and then they had that January
02:43window, where they sort of laid all their cards out on the table for the bid for Caicedo that
02:47came out of nowhere. Can you see that happening ever again in the future for Liverpool?
02:53Well, it's a bit of a precedent, isn't it, that Liverpool, if the right player is there,
02:59that the owners are willing to splash the cash for them. Maybe that's always been a bit of a
03:05slight on the owners, is that they're willing to go out and spend these big fees, and people come
03:11back and say, well, they only bought Van Dijk and Alisson in because they sold Coutinho for all that
03:17money, but they were willing to pay that money for Moses Caicedo. I think if it's a player that,
03:22if you've got all the heads-on shows of each department, if you've got Arnis Loth fully
03:28convinced, and maybe Richard Hughes as board and director, and Michael Edwards as well,
03:32singing off the same hymn sheets, I think the owners would trust the members of the staff.
03:41The owners, I think they will be aware that recruiting footballers isn't their forte. I mean,
03:49Top Bowl, he's had an influence there at Chelsea, hasn't he, and that's been their
03:53hit and miss, to say the least. I think the owners have a lot of trust in the people that they employ
04:00at the club, and if they think he's worth that deal, they'll back the staff. So yeah, I mean,
04:05if the right player comes up for Liverpool, they think, right, we need to go and get him
04:10because we can't miss this window, then the owners will put the money up. But yeah,
04:14it depends whether there are any players of that ilk who they want this summer.
