00:42🥺
00:44Tu veux un temps pour dormir? 🥺
00:46🥺
00:47🥺
00:49Pourquoi est-ce que Sooty se dresse comme ça? 🥺
00:50🥺
00:50Sweep, Sooty is my physiopathist.
00:55What's a physiopersonist? Oh, really, Sweep?
00:57Everyone knows a physio-what's-it-is-an-expert, with muscles and bones and things.
01:02Now, Sooty, let's see how far my leg will stretch.
01:07Oh! Oh, ow! Not that fast, Sooty!
01:11Oh, the pain we artists have to go through!
01:16It's just as painful watching.
01:18Oh, sorry if we disturbed you, Sweep.
01:20But my tap-dancing teacher's coming this morning, and I have to be ready for her.
01:25My teacher! Yes, Sweep!
01:30What's so funny?
01:31Well, it does seem funny calling someone we know so well my teacher.
01:36If it ain't Fonda! No, Sweep!
01:40No, it's not Bonnie Langford!
01:44No, it's not Wayne Sleepsweep! It's Connie!
01:49No, Sweep! Not Connie who? Connie Crichton!
01:51You know, the Connie that looks after us when we go to theatres all over the country.
01:58Yes, Sweep! That's Connie!
02:00And she's kindly offered to teach me to tap-dance and sit me on the road to stardom.
02:06You think it's sissy?
02:07Well, you can think what you like. I must get on.
02:10I don't like to get up early in the morning.
02:15That's a little rhyme Connie taught me to use when warming up my ankles, see?
02:19I don't like to get up early in the morning.
02:24And neither do you.
02:26I know that, Sweep, but I think a little more exercise would do you good.
02:31Ah, that'll be Connie. I'll go and let her in, sooty.
02:34Why don't you go and use the bathroom first?
02:36And Sweep, you can make yourself useful by making sure Matthew is up and about.
02:40Come in, Connie!
02:45Oh, good morning.
02:47I'm up? Yes, of course I'm up.
02:49I thought I heard the doorbell.
02:51Did you sleep well, Sweep?
02:53Not bad.
02:55If it hadn't been for the grunts and screams...
02:57Grunts and screams? What on earth do you mean?
03:00Those two? Sue and Sooty?
03:03What were they doing?
03:06Sooty was helping Sue with her warm-up exercises.
03:09What were they doing that for?
03:12Sue's having a tap-dancing lesson this morning from Connie.
03:16Connie Crichton?
03:18Here? This morning?
03:21Giving Sue a tap-dancing lesson?
03:24She's already here?
03:26I'm not dressed!
03:30You're going to have a nervous breakdown.
03:32If anybody else screams...
03:34Look, Sweep, I'm sorry about this, but I must get downstairs and welcome Connie.
03:37It's rude not to welcome her.
03:40I wish Sue had warned me about this.
03:42Where are my shoes?
03:44My tap-shoes?
03:46No, no, no, my ordinary shoes.
03:48Mind you, I do have some tap-shoes, you know.
03:53I can't tap-dance.
03:55I beg your pardon, I can.
03:57Can? Can!
03:59Don't you laugh, my lad.
04:01I'm going to tell you something now.
04:03When I was at drama school in 1960...
04:05Well, in 1960, I was a teacher.
04:08Well, in 1970...
04:10Well, quite a long time ago.
04:12When I was at drama school, I was known as Matt the Feet Corbett.
04:15Ah, yes, Sweep.
04:16Even as we speak, above our heads in the loft there
04:19are my tap-dancing shoes in a little plastic bag
04:22just itching to be let out
04:24so I can reveal my talents to an awaiting world.
04:29It's only Connie who's waiting.
04:31You're right, Sweep, and I'm not dressed yet.
04:33I must go and use the bathroom.
04:35I'll be with you in a minute.
04:37Coming, coming!
04:50There you are, Sweep. How about that?
04:52That was marvellous, Connie.
04:54But do you think I'll ever be able to dance like that?
04:56Well, of course you will, but we've got to start with the basic steps.
04:59Now, what I want you to try is just with your toe,
05:01going up, back, down.
05:03Up, back, down. Just like that.
05:05Now, be careful you don't fall off of that stool, Sue.
05:08Gently.
05:09No, no, you're going too fast, Sue.
05:10You're going too fast.
05:14Are you all right?
05:16Yes, thank you, Connie.
05:17I tried to pick both feet off the ground at the same time,
05:20got my legs crossed and fell over.
05:22That's because you were going too fast, you silly girl.
05:24You've got to walk before you can run now.
05:26Do you want to carry on?
05:27Oh, yes, please.
05:28Right, now together, but slowly this time.
05:30Ready?
05:31Now, and up, back, down.
05:34Up, back, down.
05:35Now, concentrate on your ankles and on your feet.
05:38Nice and loose.
05:39Up, back, down.
05:41Up, back, down.
05:42Up, back, down.
05:43Up, back, down.
05:44Up, back, down.
05:45Up, back, down.
05:46Up, back, down.
05:47Sue, that's great!
05:50That was difficult trying to concentrate on just my feet and ankles.
05:54I know, Sue, but once you've got the rhythm in your head as well as your feet,
05:57then you can progress to faster and more difficult steps.
06:00Connie, Connie!
06:01Thank you!
06:02What a surprise!
06:03Sue, you never warned me, you know.
06:04I didn't know you were coming.
06:05Lovely to see you.
06:06Hey, you're looking very fit.
06:07Fat?
06:08Fit, Matthew.
06:09Fit, yes, I feel it, yes.
06:10Where's Sooty and Sweep?
06:11Sweep's up there, Sooty.
06:12Sooty!
06:13Come on.
06:14Give us a kiss.
06:18Pardon.
06:19Oh, yes, I'm keeping very well, thank you, Sooty.
06:21I tell you what, you're keeping busy as well, I understand.
06:23What? Yes.
06:24Because I understand that you're giving Sue tap dancing lessons.
06:26Is that right?
06:27And she's coming on very well.
06:28All she's got to do is conquer the basic steps.
06:30Right.
06:32This is only my first lesson, Matthew.
06:34I know that, Sue.
06:35So do you think she'll be any good, Connie?
06:37Oh, I don't see why not.
06:38She shows a lot of promise.
06:39Really?
06:40Oh, how rude of me.
06:41Connie, coffee?
06:42I'd love one.
06:43Coffee, coffee.
06:44Thank you very much.
06:45But then we must get down to some serious work, mustn't we, Sue?
06:47Oh, yes, because I'm only just getting the hang of it.
06:49Sue, do you want a glass of milk?
06:51Oh, yes, please, Matthew.
06:52Sooty, do you want a glass of milk?
06:53Yes.
06:54Would you go upstairs and see if you can find Sweep, would you please, Sooty?
06:56Off you go, off you pop.
06:57That's it.
06:58Black for you, Connie, of course, as always.
07:00What about Sue's talent?
07:01Has she got talent, then, has she?
07:02Oh, yes, but with lots of training.
07:04Training, training.
07:05You're talking to the right person when you're talking about training.
07:07Let me tell you about training.
07:09You see, I know all about the hard work involved.
07:11I've been through it all myself, you know, Connie,
07:13whereas your training might have been quite long.
07:15You see, mine was relatively short, but it was very intensified
07:18because I have so much natural talent,
07:20I didn't need to train for that long.
07:21But this meant that I was immediately into the professional circuit of tap dancers.
07:25What a strange world that is.
07:26And I was very soon performing alongside Sir Laurie.
07:30Sir Laurie was amazed at my talent and said my credentials were unbelievable.
07:39Whilst Matthew is telling his life history to Connie and Sue,
07:42Sweep is in the loft, although he knows he's forbidden to go into it.
07:46I wonder what he's searching for.
07:50Oh, Matthew's tap dancing shoes.
07:53Well, while Sweep is up here in the loft,
07:56Sooty is searching all over the house for him.
07:59Hang on. Here's Sooty.
08:01He's found out where Sweep is and he's not pleased.
08:07Well, Sooty knows how dangerous lofts are,
08:10but Sweep just will not listen to reason
08:13and carries on searching for the tap shoes.
08:17And then a director said to me, he said,
08:19Do you have two left feet?
08:21I think he was very impressed with my tap dancing routine.
08:23And I said, well, no, my feet seem to be all right.
08:25All right.
08:26Anyway, this didn't go down too well and the director was rather cross with me,
08:29which is a shame.
08:30It turned him against my interpretation,
08:31the part which up until that point had been going really very well.
08:34And the show, I can tell you,
08:35the performance would have gone down with a bang.
08:37Oh!
08:38Oh!
08:39Oh!
08:40Oh!
08:41Oh!
08:42Oh!
08:43Oh!
08:44Oh!
08:45Oh!
08:46Oh!
08:47Did I disturb you?
08:48Sooty, what is the matter?
08:49Why are you rushing like that?
08:51He's where? In the loft!
08:52Sweep, in the loft?
08:54I've told him never to go in the loft.
08:55It's dangerous.
08:56In fact, all of you are forbidden to go in there.
08:58Excuse me, Connie, Sweep's in the loft.
09:00I must go and get him out of there.
09:01Sweep, wait until I catch you my lad!
09:03What is the matter, Sooty?
09:04Why are you crying?
09:08Oh!
09:09He's afraid we'll think he was telling tales.
09:11Oh no, Sooty!
09:12If something dreadful had happened to Sweep,
09:14That's right Sue, I mean there are good reasons why you're not allowed to do certain things and go to certain places.
09:20Yes, and Sweep deliberately disobeyed Matthew's warnings, didn't he?
09:24Yes.
09:25So you did the right thing, of course.
09:27Anyway, let's hope that Matthew won't be too cross with Sweep.
09:31After all, he hasn't done any harm, yet.
09:45Sweep, where are you?
09:47Sweep, don't shine that torch in my eyes.
09:50Turn the torch off.
09:52Turn the lights.
09:54Sweep, there you are.
09:56Look, put the torch down.
09:57I have told you before not to come up here into the loft.
10:00You are forbidden to come into the loft because, Sweep, it is very, very dangerous.
10:04Now, come on out.
10:05Come on.
10:06Why is it dangerous?
10:08Because, Sweep, you are not actually standing on a floor.
10:11This is plaster in between these two things.
10:13It's just the ceiling of the room underneath.
10:16In your case, my bedroom.
10:18Don't bounce on it.
10:19You could go through it and you could hurt yourself.
10:21And what's more, you could go through it and cause a lot of damage as well.
10:24Not to mention the bills, Sweep.
10:26So would you kindly come on out now.
10:28Come on.
10:29But you haven't found them yet.
10:31Haven't found what?
10:32What are you looking for?
10:33My tap shoes.
10:37You're itching to be let out of the little bag.
10:39Can we forget all about the tap shoes, Sweep?
10:41Come on out of here.
10:42Come on.
10:43What?
10:44What?
10:45What is all that rubbish?
10:47Well, I don't know, Sweep.
10:48It's like anybody's loft.
10:50These are things that we don't want anymore but they're too good to throw away, I suppose.
10:55Like my tap shoes.
10:57Yes.
10:58Yes, yes.
10:59Look, for the last time, Sweep, would you come out, please?
11:02Never mind the tap shoes.
11:03Come on.
11:06I won't be too cross with you.
11:09All right.
11:10I'll calm down.
11:11I won't be too cross with you if you come out straight away.
11:15OK?
11:16I promise you will never come up here ever again unless you've got me to hold your hand.
11:19OK?
11:20So come on out.
11:21Come on.
11:22What are you doing now?
11:23You've got them.
11:25What is that you've got?
11:26What is it?
11:27My tap shoes.
11:30Itching to be let out of the little bag.
11:32Yes.
11:33All right.
11:34Well, now that you've found them, Sweep, can you come out, please?
11:35Come on.
11:36Come on.
11:38They're very heavy.
11:39Well, don't wander around with them.
11:40Look, leave them or you might fall through.
11:42Sweep, be careful!
11:44It's falling through the...
11:45Careful, look, Sweep.
11:46Hold on, hold on.
11:48Be careful.
11:49Just hold on, Sweep.
11:50Steady.
11:51Steady on.
11:52Give me a...
11:53Sweep, give me a paw or something.
11:56Sweep!
11:57For goodness sake, look!
11:59Sweep, we...
12:03Sweep!
12:04Sweep!
12:05Connie, help!
12:06Help!
12:07Help!
12:08Help!
12:09Help!
12:10Oh, good heavens!
12:11Matthew, Sutty, come up here and have a look.
12:14Help me, Connie, help me!
12:15Do you think you're going to be of any assistance?
12:18Great idea.
12:19Go downstairs quickly and get the magic wand.
12:21Okay.
12:22Won't be long, Sweep.
12:23Hang on there, Matthew.
12:24I've got no choice, have I, Connie?
12:25I don't like that.
12:26Don't worry.
12:27Sutty's going to bring his magic wand back,
12:28and as soon as it arrives, he wants us all to say his magic spell.
12:31Okay.
12:32Very good news, Sweep.
12:33He's here, he's here.
12:34Okay, everybody all together.
12:35One, two, three.
12:36Easy Whizzy, let's get busy!
12:40Quickly!
12:50Well done, Sutty!
12:51Well done!
12:53You little monster!
12:55You and that loft!
12:56I told you about that loft!
12:57I warned you lots of times, Sweep!
12:59Matthew!
13:00What?
13:01I think Sweep's learnt his lesson, don't you?
13:05You see, he didn't realise.
13:07But you do now, don't you?
13:09Yeah, all right.
13:10But listen to me, Sweep.
13:11Listen to me.
13:12You are a little monkey.
13:14I'm glad you're all right, I must say.
13:18And you did find my tap shoes.
13:19My tap shoes?
13:21Oh, great!
13:22Oh, yes.
13:23Now you can really show us how it's done, Matthew.
13:25What?
13:26Tap dancing?
13:27Yes.
13:28I hardly think I'm dressed for it, do you?
13:30I mean, look at this.
13:31I think I could do with a bath before I do any tap dancing.
13:34Oh, Sutty thinks it's a great idea too.
13:36Yes, but listen, after what I've been through,
13:38I think a week in bed is more my style, not tap dancing.
13:41Oh, come on, Matthew.
13:42Show us how it's done.
13:43Now, what about something like this?
13:50Over to you.
13:52Well, of course I could have done that, Collie,
13:56but I haven't got my tap shoes on, have I?
14:05Oh, well, thanks a lot, Sutty.
14:09I've got no excuses now, have I?
14:11Come on, then.
14:12Right, you've asked for it.
14:20I thought so.
14:21You can't tap dance, you were boasting.
14:24All right, maybe I was boasting a little.
14:28One thing's for sure, I am very rusty.
14:30But listen, I did used to be able to tap dance.
14:33You obviously didn't fall into the sink, Matthew.
14:35You're absolutely filthy.
14:37Well, I'm not the only one.
14:38I know you're filthy as well.
14:39You want a bath as well, Sweep.
14:41Come on, let's go and use the bathroom.
14:43Let's go and get those taps dancing for us.
14:45Then, perhaps, you can persuade Connie
14:47to read you a nice bedtime story.
14:49Yes, will you, Connie?
14:50I'd love to, but not until Sweep's had a bath
14:53and scrubbed behind your ears.
14:55And you too, Matthew.
14:59Right now, where's Matthew?
15:00Anyone seen Matthew?
15:01Oh, he's upstairs, Connie.
15:02He said, would you start without him, please?
15:04Oh, OK then.
15:06Right, are we all comfy?
15:07Yes, thank you.
15:08Right, let's get the glasses on.
15:10The story today is called The Strength of a Dancer.
15:14That's right, Sweep.
15:15Twice a week, Amanda went to a dancing school
15:18to learn ballet, tap, modern and gymnastics dance.
15:23Amanda loved her lessons, but hated to walk home afterwards.
15:27She was always met by her elder brother, Lee,
15:29who shouted out rude remarks about dancing being soppy.
15:33Of course it isn't. It isn't, Sweep.
15:36Anyway, one day, Amanda was walking home with Duncan,
15:39a boy from her dancing class,
15:41when she saw Lee standing unhappily beneath a tall pine tree.
15:45He didn't shout out in his usual rude way.
15:48He was far too busy staring up at his pet kitten
15:51trapped on a branch far too high to reach.
15:54She's frightened, and she can't get down, sobbed Lee.
15:58I'll see what I can do, said Duncan.
16:00And quickly, he decided to use a trick he'd learnt at his ballet class.
16:05He ran straight at the tree and ran up the tree trunk.
16:08Then, he threw his arms in the air
16:10and his hands gripped the branch not far from the terrified kitten.
16:15He pulled himself up onto the branch and picked the tiny bundle up.
16:19Then, having crossed his legs,
16:21Duncan let himself swing under the branch
16:24and slowly lowered himself until he was hanging upside down,
16:29held only by his feet.
16:31Yeah, he lowered the kitten into Lee's outstretched arms
16:35and then calmly swung himself upright and dropped lightly to the ground.
16:40Wow, thanks, said Lee.
16:43I thought you were a softie.
16:45Duncan laughed.
16:47Lots of people think that,
16:49but really, dancers are some of the strongest and fittest people around.
16:53Bye for now, and off he ran.
16:56That evening at supper time, Lee asked his mother an amazing question.
17:00Mum, may I go to dancing lessons with Amanda next week?
17:04You're quite right, of course.
17:07Yes.
17:09Will I teach you to tap dance? Really?
17:12I'd love to, sweetie. Start tomorrow.
17:14Connie, if you're giving tap dancing lessons, can I have a few as well?
17:18Hey, did you all enjoy the story?

Recommandations
