00:00I'm Ng Kee Lam, 78 years old. I'm an e-hailing driver.

00:06In one's golden years, many would prefer to take it easy.

00:10But Ng Kee Lam is still actively on the streets, working as an e-hailing driver.

00:17Despite having been a driver for 34 years, nothing else makes his day like getting behind the wheel and ferrying passengers to their destination.

00:40He began driving in 1990, the streets of Kuala Lumpur being his turf as he grew up in the Chowkit area.

00:48Over the decades, he has witnessed many changes from behind the wheel.

00:53Among them is the city skyline as KL developed.

00:57He remembers a time when it was devoid of the Petronas Twin Towers.

01:03Change, of course, can be a good thing.

01:06For instance, today's technology helps him locate his passengers more accurately.

01:12Back then, drivers would be informed of passengers over a radio.

01:17But this meant there would be instances when he would drive to the location but be unable to find the passenger.

01:25Another thing Ng has observed is how the number of cars on the road has increased over the years.

01:46One thing that remains constant for Ng is the comfort and safety of his passengers,

01:52which is why he regularly makes sure his car is well-maintained.

01:57And despite his age, Ng has no plans on retiring anytime soon.

02:22I don't want to retire too soon. I just want my children to be happy.
