00:15Mela Lesmora in the report.
00:20The leader of the Camera thanked the continued support of G7 in the Philippines
00:26amid the rising tensions in the West Philippine Sea.
00:29The G7, or Group of Seven Leaders, is made up of leaders from America, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
00:39And recently, they issued a decree on China's illegal activities in the WPS
00:45as well as the continued support of the Philippines in the issue.
00:49According to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, this is a big deal for the country.
00:54Romualdez appealed to China to stop their aggressive actions in the so-called territory
01:01because in the end, they might be the only ones who will be put in danger.
01:05Meanwhile, for Second District Representative Rufus Rodriguez,
01:09the growing support of other countries is true that the Philippines is already winning in this matter.
01:16He also called China a bait or outcast because no one is favoring what it is doing.
01:23House Deputy Majority Leader Janet Garin also agreed to the statement of her fellow members of the Camera.
01:30The support of G7 is a big thing because in our small country,
01:35we really need our big brothers to support and help us protect our territories.
01:41Unfortunately, of course, we don't really have a fight when there's a war or whatever.
01:48And I believe that our government is also not inclined towards that position.
01:54However, the House of Representatives' request is that in the end,
01:57the Philippines and China's trade relations should be peaceful and more important.
02:04It's not good to have a trade war because if there's a trade war,
02:09the Philippines will lose more than China because we also have exports to China
02:14and we also have things, we have a lot of raw materials that other factories are buying there.
02:19Let's push through with trade but let's not stop claiming what is really ours.
02:24Before this, National Security Advisor Secretary Eduardo Año was the first to respond to the G7 statement.
02:31He confirmed the growing support of the international community in the Philippines
02:36on the importance of enforcing the rule of law in such maritime disputes.
02:41Once the rule of law is enforced, they will continue to advance the rights of our country
02:47on any issue, wherever and whenever.
