Transcript
00:00The Philippines received support from the G7 leaders regarding the issue up to the West Philippine Sea.
00:07A congressman called China an outcast because no one is favoring its aggression in our territory.
00:17Bella Lesmoras was at the center of the news.
00:20The camera's leader thanked the G7 for their continued support in the Philippines amid rising tensions in the West Philippine Sea.
00:32The G7 or Group of Seven leaders are made up of leaders from America, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
00:42Recently, they issued an order against China's illegal activities in the West Philippine Sea
00:48while giving support to the Philippines' opposition to the issue.
00:54According to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, this is a big deal for the country.
01:00Romualdez called on China to stop its aggressive actions in the so-called territory
01:06because in the end, they will be the only ones to be put in danger.
01:11For Second District Representative Rufus Rodriguez,
01:15it is only true that there is growing support from other countries that the Philippines is already winning this battle.
01:23He also called China an outcast because no one is favoring its actions.
01:32House Deputy Majority Leader Janet Garin also agreed to the statement of her fellow members of the House.
01:39The support of the G7 is a big thing because in our small country,
01:44we really need our big brothers to support and help us protect our territories.
01:50Unfortunately, of course, we don't really have a fight when there is a war or whatever.
01:57And I believe that our government is also not inclined towards that position.
02:03But the Speaker's request is that in the end, peace will prevail.
02:08Garin hopes that despite the issues in the West Philippine Sea,
02:11the trade relations between the Philippines and China will not be destroyed.
02:16It is not good to have a trade war because if there is a trade war,
02:21the Philippines will lose more than China because we also have exports to China
02:26and we also have things, we have a lot of raw materials.
02:30So let's push through with trade but let's not stop claiming what is really ours.
02:35Melalas Moras for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
