00:00And we are back. The Department of Migrant Workers, or DMW, provided financial assistance to distressed overseas Filipino workers to help them get back on their feet.
00:11Sofia Ternos of the Philippine Information Agencies of Sargent has more.
00:17The Department of Migrant Workers in Region 12 recently distributed Php 580,000 in financial assistance through its Balikpinay Balikhanap Buhay program designed to provide distressed OFWs with the resources they need to rebuild their lives in the Philippines.
00:33This initiative was part of a nationwide mass awarding held in celebration of the 2025 National Women's Month.
00:40According to DMW 12 OYC Regional Director Samsudin Lintongan, the program provides financial assistance to eligible OFWs, allowing them to start small businesses of their choice.
00:52For us at DMW, we are suggesting that it is better to start small businesses, like starting a business.
01:01For us at DMW, as much as possible, we want to help our OFWs to not go back to other countries.
01:10Each of the beneficiaries in Soksojan received Php 10,000 incented to serve as a seed capital for their entrepreneurial ventures.
01:18This is a huge help for us.
01:22For those OFWs who have not yet completed their contracts, this is what we are waiting for.

01:40Despite the current situation, we are still one of the beneficiaries.
01:46DMW reported a nationwide distribution of Php 10,000 to 1,000 OFWs through the BPBH program, with Soksojan having the most beneficiaries, comprising of 185.
01:58The DMW in Region 12 has pledged to continue supporting and assisting OFWs who have returned, urging them to remain in their respective localities.
