00:00In celebration of National Women's Month 2025,
00:04the Cultural Center of the Philippines launched
00:06the Lakbay Cine for Inday.
00:10This is a special online screening of Cinemalaya Films
00:13for women deprived of liberty in three provinces
00:18in Iloilo City, Pototan, Iloilo, and Bacolod City
00:22to show the stories of women in prison
00:26and to give voice to their experiences.
00:29And if that's the case, we will talk about it in detail
00:33and we will be joined by the Vice President and Artistic Director
00:37of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Mr. Dennis Marsigan.
00:41Good morning and welcome to Rise and Shine, Philippines.
00:44Good morning, Rod Fifi.
00:45Thank you for giving me the opportunity
00:48for the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
00:50Thank you so much for being with us this morning, Sir Dennis.
00:53What is the purpose and goal of the CCP
00:57in making this Lakbay Cine for Inday?
01:01This is for women deprived of liberty.
01:03Go ahead, Sir.
01:04Yes, because we know that the month of March
01:07is the National Women's Month.
01:10That's why this is one of the projects launched by the CCP.
01:14And because of the women who lost their freedom,
01:19they don't have the opportunity to watch movies like movies.
01:25That's why we thought of doing this project
01:28so that they will have the opportunity to watch the experiences of women
01:33who were deprived of their freedom to watch movies,
01:36especially movies that were made for women deprived of their freedom.
01:39Sir, this program is so funny.
01:41What is the significance of these films that we will bring to the women PDL
01:47and the effect of movies in their lives?
01:50We know that movies are one of the most powerful things
01:54that can give us emotions.
01:59And the films chosen for this Lakbay Cine for Super Inday
02:05are films that give voices and opportunities
02:09to show the experiences of women.
02:13In our opinion, we hope that when our Super Inday watch this,
02:18they will have the opportunity and hope
02:21that their lives can be changed.
02:25And because of what we see in these films,
02:29women are really choosing their future.
02:34This will also give them strength.
02:36Alright, Sir. What are the films that you chose?
02:41What are the films that will really help our women who are deprived of their freedom?
02:47Most of the films are about women who have different experiences
02:54and they are the ones who choose what needs to happen in their lives.
02:58For example, other films that will be released,
03:01like Mayohan by Dan Villegas,
03:04Balota by Kip Uybanda,
03:09and one of the films that really fits this time,
03:13because in this film, we see a teacher
03:16who is trying to find a way to make the balotas
03:21that Marianne is making.
03:25Sir, I watched this in the cinema, it's so beautiful.
03:27Very timely.
03:28Yes, because of the personality of the character
03:34that Marianne Rivera is playing,
03:36she is really trying to make sure that the balotas and the balotos
03:40will be counted and will not go to the hands of people
03:44who are hoping that this will not be included in the counting.
03:47Sir, you mentioned, for our women who are deprived of their liberty, how?
03:51Because sometimes, for example,
03:56we know this from our studies,
03:59that when you lose your freedom,
04:01what's on your mind or what you feel,
04:04you don't have hope in life.
04:06And in these films, we see that women have the right
04:11and the ability to choose what will happen to them in the future.
04:16So, if by watching these films,
04:20we can give them strength of mind or hope,
04:24we think that this is a big thing.
04:26And it's not everyday that our women who are deprived of their liberty
04:31can watch these films.
04:33So, we are thankful to our partner in this project,
04:37the Super Indoor Prison Art Project,
04:39and of course, to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology
04:42for allowing us to do this project.
04:44Sir, you mentioned that this is a way to give them a voice.
04:47So, how was our film screening?
04:50Was there a change in the observation of our women PDNs?
04:54In the first one we did on the first Sunday of March,
04:57we saw that after the film,
05:02the filmmakers are also online.
05:06And the Super Indoor Prison Art Project has a chance to discuss.
05:11Oh, there are consultations.
05:12Yes, there are questions and answers.
05:14We also have an open forum
05:16to give them a chance to speak,
05:20to share their stories,
05:22to say what came to them when the film was released.
05:27Alright, as part of the National Women's Month celebration,
05:30what is our message to the women who are going through trials?
05:34And of course, we will also show how the role of the CCP
05:38in strengthening their stories.
05:40The CCP, despite the fact that we know that
05:44our prison is still under construction,
05:48in this project, we can see that the CCP is really trying
05:54to reach any part of our country.
05:57And hopefully, through this project,
05:59we can reach our countrymen,
06:01especially those women who have no freedom,
06:04that the CCP is with them in their struggle,
06:07to give them a voice,
06:09to give them a chance to be a part of the films
06:13that the CCP is making.
06:15And not only in the films,
06:17but also in their lives,
06:19that the films are important in their lives.
06:21That's right.
06:22Sir, this project is a noble cause.
06:25What can we see in the years to come?
06:28Because you mentioned Iloilo, Bacolod City,
06:30will this project expand to other places
06:32so that more women PDL can watch
06:34and give their lives a voice?
06:37We are thankful that we are here at RSP.
06:40Maybe through this,
06:42there will be an opportunity to release this
06:45to other parts of the Philippines.
06:47Maybe we will have other allies
06:50that we can give them this opportunity.
06:54Not just in Iloilo, Putotan, and Bacolod.
06:58In Zamboanga, to Sir Xavier Solda.
07:01I hope you can do that.
07:03In BGMP.
07:04And Virgin Love Fest in June.
07:06Let's look forward to that.
07:08For other details,
07:09that's the Facebook page, right?

07:22for the viewers.
07:23We have with us,
07:24Mr. Dennis Maracigan.
