00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're taking a look at the 10 best RPGs to play on the
00:12Nintendo Switch.
00:20Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to Mojo
00:24Plays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:28Chained Echoes
00:38The era of the Game Boy Advance saw a treasure trove of fantastic RPGs in both original IPs
00:45and ports of classic games.
00:47If you grew up on those games from that era, then Chained Echoes might become your next
00:51favorite title.
00:52While Chained Echoes does feature your standard RPG mechanics, it does introduce something
00:57rather unique with its overdrive mechanic.
01:06Certain actions can eventually bolster your attack power, however it can also backfire
01:10when overheated.
01:12Carefully plan your attacks and make the most of your turn and you'll find a pleasant
01:16sprint through this magnificent gem of a game.
01:27Pokemon Legends Arceus
01:35The Pokemon franchise has been needing a shot in the arm for some time now, some kind of
01:40evolution that makes the journey to becoming a Pokemon Master much more immersive.
01:44We'll let you have your thoughts about the condition of the core games, but if you want
01:48something truly spectacular, you must play Pokemon Legends Arceus.
02:00Here encounters occur in real time, and Pokemon can actually attack the player.
02:05You have to be on your toes while trying to capture every pocket monster, rather than
02:09just the usual turn-based combat initiated by random encounters.
02:13So if you're a fan who has been dying for a change in formula, Legends will not let
02:18you down.
02:19Plus, a sequel is in the works and scheduled to release in 2025, so now is an excellent
02:24time to check this out.
02:32Live Alive
02:40The original Live Alive was never released outside of Japan, but this remake saw widespread
02:45appeal and critical acclaim, and for good reason.
02:49Much like another modern RPG that we'll see soon, Live Alive puts you in the shoes
02:53of 8 different protagonists, each story taking place across vastly different timelines, from
02:59the prehistoric ages to medieval times and even the distant future, and you won't have
03:11to worry about sinking over 100 hours into this.
03:14Live Alive sticks around long enough to tell its tales and tell them well.
03:17If you have 30 hours to spare, you will not regret playing this one.
03:28Star Ocean The Star Ocean franchise has been on the up
03:40and up over the last handful of years, some of us still haven't recovered from 2016's
03:45integrity and faithlessness, and the faith was largely restored with the 2023 remake
03:49of Star Ocean The Second Story.
03:57From the exceptional voice acting to the gorgeously detailed environments, The Second Story R
04:02is a massive JRPG that you can get lost in for hours.
04:06And that music, oh that glorious music.
04:18We only hope publisher Square Enix and its partners can keep the quality up for whatever
04:22is next in Star Ocean's future.
04:25Golf Story It's no epic adventure of demons or warring
04:36factions or interdimensional travel, but Golf Story is still worthy of any Switch owner's
04:41attention.
04:42Inspired by the Game Boy Color version of Mario Golf, you will compete across various
04:46tournaments while honing your skills and leveling up your golfing prowess.
04:56In between standard golfing tournaments, you will be able to take on various side quests
05:00in the open world and even play some fun minigames to further improve your stats or acquire new
05:05equipment.
05:06Just don't be surprised if you don't understand the Australian jargon some of the characters
05:09utter.
05:16Shin Megami Tensei V The Persona games are great and all, but if
05:28you want a JRPG that is going to test your skills, Shin Megami Tensei V will certainly
05:33put the pressure on.
05:35As the mysterious entity Nahobono, you will venture across an apocalyptic wasteland version
05:41of Tokyo as you battle demons and fight to return home.
05:51While previous installments may have scared away casuals, SMT V actually does a compelling
05:56job at explaining its mechanics and easing you into a taxing difficulty.
06:00Plus, for as generic as the world may seem initially, this desolate iteration of Tokyo
06:04does feature plenty of areas that make exploration feel fun and exciting.
06:09The Vengeance re-release further improves this game with refined visuals, more areas
06:14to get lost in, and a more streamlined combat system.
06:23Fire Emblem Three Houses
06:34Almost any Fire Emblem game is satisfying to play, but Three Houses is the most ambitious
06:39and engaging, which is something Fire Emblem and Gage forgot to do.
06:44Three Houses already threw us for a loop when we were made to choose which class to lead.
06:48With each class having characters with vastly different stories behind them, essentially
06:54you have three games in one.
06:56But the biggest satisfaction comes from your role as their teacher.
07:04Your efforts in spending time with them in class and helping each student in their academics
07:09will show in battle, whether it's in counterattacks, frequent critical hits, or learning new team-up
07:15attacks.
07:16It kind of gives an interesting window into how educators who care about teaching feel
07:20when seeing their students succeed.
07:32Super Mario RPG
07:42It's hard to believe many of us ever got to play the original Super Mario RPG, and
07:46if you are one of those people then you should absolutely pick up the remake.
07:50While the visuals are different, almost everything we loved about the original is retained here.
08:01The writing is still hilarious, the enemies are just as weird and wacky as ever, and the
08:06music by Yoko Shimomura is wonderfully beautiful in both its original and new arrangements.
08:13One playthrough will show you why SNES fans have forever cherished this game since 1996.
08:26Octopath Traveler Series
08:35Whether you want to play the first or second Octopath Traveler is entirely up to you.
08:40You can play either game without needing to play the other, but what makes these games
08:44unique is how they evoke classic RPGs like Live Alive in their story and combat while
08:49boasting some of the most gorgeously detailed graphics seen on Switch.
09:05Octopath Traveler 2 does feature a few extra bells and whistles like latent powers to spice
09:10up the combat, however both games offer up incredible tales to experience, so you should
09:16really play both when you get the opportunity.
09:24Xenoblade Chronicles 3
09:35Just like Octopath Traveler, you can really play whichever Xenoblade game appeals to you,
09:40although among the main three, we highly recommend Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
09:45While it does suffer from the Switch's technical limitations in some areas, Xenoblade
09:493 excels in evolving the combat.
10:01First you have the introduction of the interlink system, which lets certain pairs of characters
10:05form into an Ouroboros with access to stronger attacks.
10:10On top of that, the game does a tremendous job at properly pacing the player for difficulty.
10:16You won't have to fret about any lengthy sessions of XP farming so long as you keep up with
10:20side quests.
10:21Combine all of that with the already fantastic story, music, and world design, and Xenoblade
10:27Chronicles 3 will have you hooked instantly.
10:37Have you played any of these for yourself, and are you planning to pick up the Thousand
10:40Year Door remake or the re-release of Shin Megami Tensei V?
