00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're counting down our picks for the Soulsborne bosses that
00:09 let us down, let the genre down, but most importantly, let themselves down.
00:19 Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:24 the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:28 Royal Rat Authority - Dark Souls 2
00:38 There's not a Souls fan on this planet that enjoys bosses whose difficulty rests not on
00:42 its moveset, but the amount of minions it spawns to do the dirty work for them.
00:46 And they don't come dirtier than this pack of vermin.
00:49 The large rat certainly packs a bite, but the worst thing about it is the sheer number
00:53 of smaller rats that surround it, all ready to inflict a poison status effect on the player.
00:59 Enjoy your kingdom of rat droppings, you jerks!
01:06 Godskin Duo - Elden Ring
01:08 There's an art to a 2 on 1 Soulsborne boss fight.
01:17 Everything has to be finely tuned, the two bosses in question need to complement one
01:21 another and there still needs to be options that the players can exploit as to not get
01:25 overwhelmed.
01:26 Then there's the Godskin Duo.
01:28 Two previous bosses slapped together, stuffed into a tight arena with health bars all over
01:33 the place.
01:34 It's so mismatched and so aggravating that there's no shame in busting out the spirit
01:39 ashes to level the playing field.
01:47 Growling Magus and Congregation - Dark Souls 2
01:56 Fair warning, there's going to be a lot of Dark Souls 2 bosses here, and how can there
02:00 not be when they're offering up slop like this?
02:03 In a long line of bosses that should have been just regular enemies, we've got this
02:07 gaggle of inept monsters that aren't so much challenging as they are target practice.
02:12 Sure, a couple of the Congregation can throw bolts of magic, but they're easily avoided.
02:17 The lumbering undead are as basic as it gets, whereas the Magus barely lasts a minute when
02:22 you start hacking and slashing.
02:23 Well that was a waste of time.
02:31 Folding Screen Monkeys - Sekiro - Shadows Die Twice
02:41 We get what they were going for here, we do.
02:44 It just would have been cool if this were an actual boss battle, as opposed to a game
02:48 of hide-seek and slaughter.
02:50 Each of the three monkeys are masters at disguising themselves, which means instead of focusing
02:54 on combat, you're grappling around the arena in search of them.
02:58 There are clues to assist you, sure, but that doesn't take away how aggravating it can
03:02 be lunging around on what feels like a wild goose chase.
03:05 Needless to say, we were happy the ordeal was over when we made a shinobi shish kebab
03:09 out of the last primate.
03:16 Covetous Demon - Dark Souls 2 One of the most uninspired bosses to ever
03:26 dump itself into the Souls franchise, the Covetous Demon is known for two things - throwing
03:31 its weight around, and being way too easy for an undead to cut into.
03:35 Sure, you can get careless and there's a chance you'll get caught under all that demonic
03:39 girth, but even then, the fight itself just feels lazy when compared to every other hellish
03:44 monster that has come before, and after.
03:47 Speed running through this boss feels more like a mercy than an accomplishment.
03:55 Moonlight Butterfly - Dark Souls There's no shortage of airborne enemies
04:07 to overcome across the Souls series, though most of them allow for some way for the player
04:11 to land a hit.
04:12 But not this behemoth of a bug, at least not at first.
04:17 Unless you're primed with magic, it's going to be impossible to strike at the butterfly,
04:20 while it in turn will continually barrage you until it decides to casually lean in,
04:26 finally allowing you to strike back.
04:28 Stage the whole thing on a bridge, and you've got a recipe for one aggravating boss that
04:33 Melee builds quickly learn to despise.
04:42 Ancient Dragon - Dark Souls 2 Out of all the dragons ever conjured up by
04:54 FromSoft, none have infuriated players more than this withered lizard.
04:59 Given that it barely moves and just breathes fire, you'd think it would make for a rather
05:03 easy brawl.
05:04 It is not.
05:05 For one, the Ancient Dragon's health pool is enormous, making it the spongiest of damaged
05:11 sponges, all the while its fire breath completely covers the area to an outrageous extent, made
05:17 all the worse since it attacks from off screen.
05:19 It's an arduous encounter, with the only positive aspect being that it's entirely
05:24 optional.
05:30 Mikolash - Host of the Nightmare - Bloodborne You know you're the weak link in a chain
05:41 when we'd rather take on eldritch horrors of every shape and sort than one dude with
05:45 a cage on his head.
05:47 What makes Mikolash so awful isn't the breadth of his attacks or a giant health pool, it's
05:51 the fact he keeps running away.
05:54 Get him one or two good hits and he'll skedaddle down one of the numerous hallways, leading
05:58 you on a wild chase on and on, rinse and repeat, until you finally finish him off.
06:04 Next time, leave the hosting duties to someone who can actually hold their own.
06:15 Twin Dragon Riders - Dark Souls 2 What's worse than a highly forgettable,
06:26 poor excuse for a boss fight featuring a slow-moving, tanky armoured knight that's just an oversized
06:31 standard enemy?
06:33 The exact same thing, only now, there's two of them!
06:37 The Dragon Rider was already one of the lamest bosses to ever emerge from behind a fog door,
06:42 but copying and pasting another one ensured that these two would go down as the worst
06:47 double boss fight in Soulsborne history.
06:55 The Bed of Chaos - Dark Souls The first Dark Souls game is many things.
07:07 A landmark title, a shift in the medium, the bedrock that will inspire numerous Soulslikes
07:13 for years to come.
07:14 You know what it isn't?
07:15 A platformer!
07:17 Which sucks, because this boss demands that your chosen undead bounce around the arena
07:22 like Super Mario.
07:23 The Bed of Chaos is infamous for how it has players trying to navigate the right path
07:28 in order to reach the boss's core, something that can only be accomplished by making leaps
07:32 of faith that don't always work out.
07:40 Which of these bosses do you truly despise?
07:43 Let us know in the comments!
