00:39The Peak District has won the race to feature in a brand new version of popular board game Monopoly,
00:44with locals being asked to vote which landmark should be featured.
00:47Makers have announced today that a unique Peak District version of the world's most famous board game is to be created,
00:53after the Staycation Hotspot won a five-way race to become the latest Monopoly special edition.
00:58Land in the honour of getting its own bespoke version of the game,
01:01the Peak District has beaten world-leading natural beauty destinations,
01:04including Norway's Fjords and Germany's Black Forest.
01:08Winning Moves UK, an official Monopoly maker,
01:11is producing the brand new Monopoly Peak District edition under licence from Hasbro.
01:16The firm produces Monopoly editions for popular destinations all over the world.
01:20In the new game, 30-plus Peak District landmarks and favourites,
01:24like the Peacetakers National Park, Chatsworth House or the Heights of Abraham,
01:28will be showcased on the board, replacing the traditional Mayfair and Park Lane from the classic Monopoly game.
01:34The tokens are set to be customised too,
01:36with the original Monopoly characters like the Scotty Dog and Boot literally getting the boot.
01:41In their place, a miniature Bakewell tart looks a shoe in,
01:44while a pair of walking boots are likely to feature instead of the traditional old boot.
01:48The firm is now asking Derbyshire residents to vote for their landmarks,
01:51which will feature on the new Monopoly Peak District edition game.
