A good bit of early business?
Transcript
00:00Moving on to Wolves, look at their transfers so far. They added Rodrigo Gomes from the
00:10Portuguese league. They are quite familiar with buying players from that sort of region
00:16and these clubs. Notably some good players but also very poor transfers for the likes
00:23of Fabio Silva who looks like he could be on his way out permanently this summer from
00:28a massive loss for Wolves as well. In terms of Rodrigo Gomes, it looks positive, he looks
00:33quite a prospect. We have mentioned that Wolves should maybe start to try and look into more
00:40English and closer to home players in terms of transfers. If you look at Pedro Neto, it
00:48was quite a similar circumstance when he joined. It's surely something to be quite positive
00:53and excited about for Wolves fans, especially doing business this early in the winter.
00:57It's definitely a regular occurrence going out to Portugal. Wolves and Portugal are basically
01:02the same thing at this point. Rodrigo Gomes is exciting though and for a fee of ÂŁ13m,
01:08it's not too much of a risk. It's not like Fabio Silva where he's splashing out ÂŁ35m-ÂŁ40m
01:13for a player that's not turned out to be what you'd hope. Gomes is already 20 years old,
01:18already banging in the goals in the Portuguese league. Seven goals and seven assists last
01:23season on loan at Estoril from Braga. It's a cheap fee, as I say. It's one that doesn't
01:29have too much of a risk. He's someone who should fit in fairly quickly. He's not going
01:33to be in the starting XI immediately, but he's someone who can maybe break through a
01:36little bit like Pedro Neto has. We've seen how well that deal has gone. Wolves can make
01:40a huge profit on him. As a fan, you're not going to want to lose Pedro Neto, but for
01:45the profit and sustainability aspect of things, selling him for about ÂŁ60m this summer could
01:50really sort out Wolves and give Gary O'Neill the opportunity to spend and to make his own
01:55mark on the squad.
01:56How important is it that Wolves are actually getting their business done so early in this
02:02window and not leaving the fans to shout if and but by the time the season starts?
02:09I think there'll be a bit of a balance. It is important to show a bit of initiative at
02:13the start of the window, especially in attack, because we saw how the squad depth wasn't
02:17good enough last season and how much it cost Wolves, because potentially European football
02:21was on the cards. If they had that necessary depth, they didn't. So yeah, getting Rodrigo
02:25Gomez to the door, I think is important. Seeing what Jose Mosquera can do potentially as well
02:31as a centre back who's been at Villarreal. There's talks of him going out there permanently,
02:35but if they can bring him back, he might add some depth in defence, which could be useful.
02:40And Che Adams is another one that Wolves are looking at potentially signing. You mentioned
02:44players closer to home. He certainly is. There's just doubts over that one because
02:48Nottingham Forest are trying to make a bid and also his current club, Southampton, are
02:52trying to offer him new terms. But a free deal, I can't see too much wrong with that
02:56if Wolves are adding that depth in attack. He's a proven goalscorer, as we saw at Birmingham
03:00City a few years ago. He's tried in the Premier League before, he's not quite done it, but
03:05he's getting into his prime years now. I can't see why that would be a bad deal for Wolves.
