00:00Because everyone has a weakness, John, and mine is you. Here's a look at the brand
00:04new Diamond Select Cobra Kai Terry Silver.
00:09Decades after the tournament that changed their lives, the rivalry between
00:30Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso reignites in the sequel to the Karate Kid
00:34films. But with the reappearance of an old friends and old enemies, the rivals
00:38must work together to protect young fighters they have trained. This deluxe
00:41action figure of Terry Silver is based on his appearance in Netflix series
00:44Cobra Kai. It features over 16 points of articulation, multiple interchangeable
00:48hands and support stand, sculpted by Chris Dahlberg and Rocco Tartamella.
00:53Well, it appears that Diamond has head back to the dojo. Just before we get a
00:57closer look at the brand new Cobra Kai Terry Silver, I'd like to thank, if I can,
01:00the folks over at Diamond that did provide the sample we could have a look
01:03at. Terry Silver and the other figure we will be looking at in an upcoming review,
01:06Chosen, are available right now in retail stores or online. The figure of
01:10Terry is going to stand about 7 inches in height, while Silver is going to stand
01:14about 18 centimeters tall. Nothing but bad news is what I would say when I
01:19compare him along with also John Kreese. My only thing I would say is when you're
01:23comparing the two figures, I do feel like Terry Silver should be a lot taller than
01:26what he actually is. He shouldn't just only be a half head taller than, say for
01:31example, John Kreese. Comparing him also as well with, obviously, Daniel LaRusso,
01:35we've looked at all of these figures, by the way, earlier on the channel, so feel
01:38free to give those a gander if you have a little bit of time on your hands.
01:41Here's also as well what he looks like with the normal Cobra Kai version of
01:44Johnny Lawrence, if I can actually give him the balance. Here is also what he
01:47looks like with the Eagle Fang version of Lawrence as well. Still a bit surprised
01:51that none of the teen characters from Cobra Kai have yet actually been made
01:54into figures. I wonder if that's something that Diamond would consider
01:57down the road. Backing the truck though a bit, let's look at the accessories that
02:00come included with Silver. First, the figure comes with the same familiar
02:03circular display stand, though what's differently done here is they've printed
02:06now as much smaller red versions of Cobra Kai Cobra. As a comparison, I'm
02:11gonna bring one in that came included with John Kreese. This may have also come
02:14included with Johnny Lawrence, not that it really matters. The logos are gonna
02:16still be the same, and you can see between the two, the Cobra on the
02:20other one is a much bigger size. I don't know why they had so much real
02:24estate space on the top, yet they chose to have the logo of the Cobra so small
02:28down like this. My only thought really is if you're, say for example, putting
02:32Terry Silver on top of his display stand, which is all the more reasons why the
02:35figure does come included with one, that maybe they wanted to make the logo a
02:38little bit smaller so that with his feet are up at the top there. Like if you, say
02:41for example, took this display stand and you put Silver's feet across that, it
02:45would obviously be blocking some of the logo. But I don't know, it just seems to
02:48me like why would they not have just made the logo the whole size? Another
02:53comparison also as well, just bringing the Eagle Fang. I love that logo stand. The
02:57little Eagle Fang stand, which again is taking up very little space. There's
03:00so much more room to stretch. Either way though, there's obviously the peg right
03:05there that can plug into either one of Silver's feet. There is also a hole on
03:09the side here that the figure also comes included with the adjustable display
03:11stand. We've gotten these releases lots of times at Diamond Select where they've
03:15included poseable stands like this that have knuckle joints in four different
03:18places. You can also as well, if you think that's way too long, I think it's way too
03:22long, you can also as well just detach the parts that you don't plan to use and
03:26just put them off to the side. And then this just basically plugs into that hole
03:29and then you can also then plug it on. If you look on the back of the figure
03:33there's a hole very low down, basically the part that would paralyze his body if
03:36he ever got shot right there. It's kind of dark. Or again, there's also the peggles
03:41in the bottoms of his feet as well. So there's a couple of different options
03:44available. I mean truth be told, I usually just end up displaying all my Cobra Kai
03:47figures just standing perched on top of their stands. I never really feel the
03:51need to include the adjustable neck. But anyways, it comes included with that. Let's
03:54move those off to the side. And then he also comes with some swappable hands. I'm
03:58sure we've seen these hands several times already. Karate chopping hands.
04:01Ka-chow. Ka-chow. He also comes included with a couple of kind of very aggressive
04:06looking hands. Almost looks like he's trying to squeeze a watermelon. You could
04:09also as well interlock the fingers so it looks like he's actually plotting and
04:13scheming. That seems like something a bad guy would do. The figure also as well
04:17comes included with gripping hands. Though ironically enough, Silver doesn't come
04:20included with any accessories. Nunchuck, staff perhaps, any one of those would be
04:24ideal. And yet he unfortunately gets omitted everything other than just the
04:29stand and the hands. By the way though, if you did want to change out the hands, he
04:32has closed fists as of right now. We can obviously fix that problem. We're just
04:36gonna remove the hands from the provided forearms. Just twist, twist, twist. Pop that
04:40back off. Take the hands that you want to use. You want to use these hands? Okay,
04:43we'll use the aggressive hands. Just wiggle that back in place. As a side note,
04:47let me just also say like the posts on the hands are very long. I don't feel
04:50like they necessarily need to be that long. Anyways, we're just gonna twist.
04:53We'll be here a while. Keep continuing to twist until eventually... you don't have
04:58to twist. No, not you. You're not chubby checkers. But twist till eventually again
05:02you get the hands in place. You can also do the same on the other side, but just
05:05for how long it took me to do that one side. I'm not gonna bore you guys with
05:09some twistings of hands. Getting a closer look though at Terry Silver, one of my
05:13favorite aspects not only of the original Karate Kid 3, he stole every
05:18scene he was in in Karate Kid 3, which made for a relatively dull third outing
05:22for Daniel LaRusso, make a little bit more sense, a little more interesting, the
05:26fact that he actually appeared in this. Thomas Ian Griffith not only did play, of
05:31course, Terry Silver in Karate Kid 3, but then the follow-up TV series, Cobra Kai,
05:34he also was also in Vampires. Remember the John Carpenter 1998 movie? He played
05:40Jan Valek. No, not that Valek. Different Valek, who was looking for, of course, the
05:45cross. He also was in a Time Cop movie. Not a great movie. Jason Scott Lee was
05:50also in that as well. Not as good as Van Damme's. So fairly relative to the
05:55idea of what Terry Silver looks like, well, fairly relative to aware of knowing
06:00what Thomas Ian Griffith looks like, I think for the most part it lands a
06:05decent enough likeness to him. The fact that the character is a little older
06:08obviously in the series by now, he sports gray hair, still sports also as well a
06:13ponytail on the back of his head, but I feel like for his face he needed to be a
06:16little older than what he actually is done here in the figure. The face is okay.
06:20I don't know if it, again, looks as much like Silver, but I know basically from
06:25this, I mean, obviously that we're looking at the Cobra Kai figures that, you know,
06:28you would look at a guy like this, gray hair and a ponytail, you know right away
06:30who the character is supposed to be. I think almost, in fact, it lands a better
06:34portrait on the back of the packaging than what we actually got. So maybe the
06:38prototype of Silver looked a little bit more closer to the actor than what we're
06:41actually getting here, but I'm glad. Honestly, though, I am glad that we got
06:44ourselves a Terry finally in figures. Now, he is wearing his gi. He doesn't have the
06:49patch or anything on the back of his body. So, let's say, for example, when we
06:52actually even Daniel LaRusso didn't have that either. Did John Kreese know John
06:56Kreese? I don't know why. Maybe it's just one of those things. I thought they always
06:59had the Cobra Kai patch on the back of their gis. Anyways, though, he does have
07:03one, though, on the sides of his body. He's got one right there. It's a little
07:06harder to make out, obviously, because it's a darker red. He's also got some
07:09nice striping down below here. The red, though, I feel probably could have used
07:13an extra coat of paint. You can see there's a little bit of black bleeding
07:16through, but it brings a little bit of extra necessary color, if
07:20not for that. He's also just basically sporting a black gi and then lower
07:23trunks. It's barefooted, so, I mean, if again you're looking at this one and you
07:26were bringing back, I think, any really one of the Cobra Kai
07:29figures, they seem to be using the same universally molded feet. I don't think
07:33they've given one size foot bigger than the other figures. They're all basically
07:37using the exact same mold of feet. Now, for the figure's articulation, he's gonna
07:41have basically the same retained amount of posability as all the other Cobra
07:44Kai figures we've already had a look at, so Silver's head does rotate all the way
07:48around. Having his head looking up, you would have blinked and probably just
07:52missed it. That's as far up as it actually can go. He can actually look
07:55down a lot better, but having his head going up, I mean, having it
07:59straightforward, it's really no different than having the head tilted up. It only
08:02just moves just a slight bit, just about that much, just about that much. Head does
08:06rock also back and forth as well. The upper torso is gonna be on a bulge, right?
08:09The lower torso seems to be on just a straight swivel, although on my Silver
08:13it's very, very tight. The arms rotate all the way around. Same on this side as well.
08:17They hinge out, and despite thinking initially that they wouldn't be able to
08:22move past the point of 45 degrees, I was proven wrong. You can actually move them
08:25at 90 degrees. The figure does have a swivel at the biceps, so it's actually
08:29cut right here. Get your finger out of the way. Right there. The figure does have a
08:34double hinge on the elbow, and the hands do rotate all the way around. I like
08:37the split. This, by the way, is a slightly softer plastic. Not that it really matters
08:41because they put a little slit on the side of the gi. You can also, as well, take
08:44the legs, move them forward, move them back. There's a swivel, a little bit of a
08:48swivel there at the top. Double hinge on the knee, and again, you've got your
08:51articulation in the feet. They move back and forth via a hinge, and you can also
08:54rock them back and forth as well. Now, choose as well. I mean, obviously you can
08:58have this guy just standing on his own. I've noticed with some of the Cobra Kai
09:01figures, maybe not as much with Silver, that their feet are a little harder to
09:04balance. More so, I feel like, with Johnny Lawrence. Just get...bring back
09:08Johnny Lawrence here. He wobbles a little bit more on his feet. Granted, I've had
09:12these figures on my display shelf for a while, and of course, we can always bring
09:15back hands tucked into his belt. Evil, evil John Kreese. I'm really super
09:20excited for the fact that not only are we getting ourselves brand new Karate
09:23Kid Cobra Kai figures from, obviously, the folks over at Diamond Sled, but also, as
09:27well, that we're getting a new season. Now, as far as I know, the season is being
09:31split up into two parts. Part one, part two, and then from there, it's branching
09:34off, apparently, then, in a universe movie, where not only are they gonna be
09:38having Daniel LaRusso in the new movie, but apparently, they're also, as well,
09:41bringing back Jackie Chan, which I believe he's also playing the same role
09:44as the, quote, remake that he did also of Karate Kid. That's gonna be kind of
09:48interesting. The multiverse of Karate Kids, as it certainly stands from a
09:52figure standpoint. I don't know if I would like...I don't know if I would say I
09:55like Silver maybe as much as Kreese. Kreese was a nice-looking figure.
09:59Johnny Lawrence probably was the best sculpted figure we've gotten so far from
10:03Cobra Kai. That might very well change when we have a look at Chozen, but I do
10:06like to look at Terry Silver. I don't know, again, if he looks as much like the actor
10:10or the character, for that matter, from Cobra Kai, but the fact we finally now
10:13have a Terry Silver, who probably could have also afforded to be a little bit
10:17tad taller, too, but the fact that we now have a Silver as part of our Cobra Kai
10:21collection, that's a good thing. Uh-oh. Evil Dojo Sensei guy's got his fingers
10:25interlocked again. You know that's gotta spell trouble for Miyagi-Do. I am more
10:29happier that we have ourselves a Terry Silver, while perhaps maybe lacking a
10:33perfect likeness to actor Thomas Ian Griffith, who admittedly steals every
10:37scene he's ever in as Terry Silver, whether it be the original Karate Kid 3 or now
10:41continuing on the role in Cobra Kai. The likeness maybe isn't perfect, but we do
10:46have ourselves a Terry Silver, so at least there's that. From what at least
10:49we've looked at from Cobra Kai, we haven't yet looked at Chozen. That's
10:52gonna be happening in an upcoming review. I still think Johnny Lawrence lands the
10:56best likeness, maybe after that John Kreese. Silver sits just, I feel, above
11:01Daniel LaRusso. He's not certainly the worst figure that we've gotten, but I
11:05think things like having the figure slightly higher, slightly taller, would
11:08have maybe made him a little bit better, because he's a pretty tall actor in real
11:11life, and if maybe just making his face a little bit older. I mean, obviously
11:15they've landed a perfect gray ponytail that he has on the Odysseys. We're old.
11:19We're all of us. All of us getting old. That's also as well for the actors and
11:23that came back for Cobra Kai. Maybe they could have aged him just a little bit
11:26more, and obviously including some additional accessories could have gone a
11:29long way, because the only thing unfortunately he has other than the
11:32Cobra Kai display stand is just a series of interchangeable hands. Maybe like a
11:36briefcase of money. I don't know. He's always seemed to buy his way in and out
11:40of problems, or maybe just give him a nunchuck or a sai. That could have also
11:44gone a long way as well. Either way though, I am happy that we have a Terry
11:47Silver. Can't wait to also open up Chozen. We will be looking at him in an
11:51upcoming review as well, but what do you guys think though of Cobra Kai? Are you
11:54guys super excited for the fact we have ourselves a new season coming up? Again,
11:57they've apparently split the season in a part one and part two. I guess we're
12:02probably gonna be getting what six or seven episodes for part one, then I'm
12:04gonna take a break, a hiatus, just to stretch things out a little bit more. I
12:07would say like it's been a long time since we've seen something new from
12:11Cobra Kai. I'm super excited again for a new season to start, and I'm also really
12:15interested to see what they're gonna be doing when they branch it out into a
12:17movie-verse, the multiverse of Karate Kid films. But what do you guys think of
12:22Terry Silver? Pretty good of a likeness? Needed a little bit of work? Let me know
12:25down below in the comments section. Who's your also favorite character from Cobra
12:28Kai? Is it Silver? Is it Johnny Lawrence? It's got to be John Kreese. John Kreese just
12:32nails. Again, talk about stealing scenes. Anytime John Kreese is in a scene, he
12:37steals that until, of course, he has to compete with Terry Silver. But big thank
12:41you once again to the folks over at Diamond Select that did provide the
12:43sample of the brand-new Cobra Kai. Terry Silver that we had the chance to have a
12:46look at in this review. If you guys did enjoy this video, I want to throw it a like. If
12:49you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing, and you'd like to stick
12:52around for the review of Chozen Taguchi, then make sure if you haven't already
12:56done so, you hit that subscribe button down below, and you're turning on the
12:59bell notification. As always guys, thanks for watching. See you guys next time.
