"Alkebu-lan" was the first album to appear under James Mtume's (James Foreman) own name. The double album was recorded live at The East, Brooklyn, New York on August 29, 1971, and fits a very interesting and intense avant-garde jazz experience, filled with Afro-spiritual triumph, shisfting between free improvisation and explicit idiom and structure.
Alkebu-lan was one of the ancient names of Africa.
