00:00 Hello there, welcome to your weather update this Wednesday morning.
00:06 And today we have lost the rain in the south, we've gained a lot of showers across the north
00:10 as well as the west and things are fairly cool outside, rather chilly for the start
00:15 of June.
00:16 Across the far north there you can see low pressure influencing our weather, dragging
00:20 in some cold air from the north west.
00:23 Winds will always be strong across Scotland, driving down towards Northern Ireland, North
00:28 West England but a hint of something a bit more settled towards the south.
00:32 Here we'll see fewer showers through the day and more in the way of sunshine.
00:37 So if you are stepping out first thing this morning you can see there are a lot of showers
00:40 across Scotland, brighter skies across Aberdeenshire towards Borders as well as Northumberland,
00:46 also Yorkshire.
00:47 But further west, some showers moving in across Irish sea coast, far north of Northern Ireland
00:52 and a few across northern and western parts of Wales.
00:56 Inland it's a chilly morning, even with a touch of grass frost as we start the day,
01:01 however that won't last as sun will get to work and we'll see temperatures rise.
01:06 But not rising as high as they should do for this time of year.
01:09 Things remain relatively cool, particularly with this north west wind which will continue
01:14 to deliver those showers through the day.
01:17 And they will develop in situ elsewhere but fairly scattered.
01:20 Where you see some heavy pulses you're likely to see also some soft hail, even the odd rumbler
01:26 of thunder.
01:27 And across the tops of the mountains, across the far north of Scotland, even some wintryness
01:31 here.
01:32 Elsewhere, these showers will continue through the afternoon but some brighter skies across
01:36 central and southern parts of England and Wales where temperatures will reach around
01:41 16 to 18 Celsius.
01:42 But look at this, 11, 12, 13, 14 for Scotland as well as Northern Ireland, northern counts
01:47 of England, the far north of Wales.
01:50 Now through this evening and overnight, these showers continue across the northern half
01:54 of the UK.
01:55 A few across eastern counties will fade away yet again but we could see one or two just
02:00 running in across Wales where we'll see a bit more in the way of cloud.
02:03 The wind will also be a feature of the weather into Thursday morning across the western side
02:08 of Scotland, running in across the north channel as well as Northern Ireland.
02:12 And temperatures yet again just holding around single figures, slightly higher across the
02:17 far south of England.
02:18 Even so, a cool start to the day.
02:20 So low pressure continues to affect us through Thursday as well as Friday.
02:25 High pressure towards the west across the Atlantic will exert a slight influence from
02:29 time to time across southern and south-western parts of England and Wales.
02:33 However, through Thursday you can see where the showers are, a stronger wind here and
02:38 these showers yet again could have a thundering mix to them.
02:42 They'll develop elsewhere, particularly across the north as well as the west of the country,
02:45 further south and east.
02:47 Some clearer skies, some sunshine and even temperatures up to 19 Celsius.
02:51 So relatively cool for this time of year as we enter the next few days.
02:55 Fresh winds in the north, showers will always be heaviest in the north as well as the north-west
02:59 but attempting to be drier, brighter and also warmer further south and south-west.
03:04 See you later.
