Locked on Huskies co-hosts discuss several late additions to the official visitor list for May 31st.
Transcript
00:00 Let's start at the attack because that went to me with the one, when you looked at the
00:04 four additions, that really was the true addition.
00:08 When you look at the other three guys that already either previously looked at a visit
00:12 or at least had interest in Washington.
00:15 Chase had the offer from Washington back in, I believe, February, but there didn't seem
00:19 to be a ton of momentum publicly in terms of getting him on campus.
00:22 He visited LSU, has been to some other schools, but to get a guy from Texas, when you look
00:27 at 6'3", 3'10", 320, 300 pounds, somewhere in that range, those are the types of guys
00:33 that you need to go and get, especially as you mentioned, the defensive line class is
00:37 not the greatest, especially on the interior on the West Coast.
00:40 That means you have to go to the Midwest and go to the Southeast and find some of these
00:44 guys.
00:45 Texas does seem to be that happy medium destination for Washington in terms of even under Chris
00:50 Peterson, Kaelin DeBoer, even Jimmy Lake, that seemed to be a destination for Washington
00:56 to go out of the region without having to extend their resources to a school like state
01:03 like Florida or Maryland or some school Far East where you really kind of have to hope
01:08 that there's a legitimate interest there because otherwise coaching stuff going all the way
01:12 out to East Coast and then to not get them, that doesn't really do anything for me.
01:16 But when you look at his tape, as you mentioned, that to me seems like a guy where I'm true,
01:22 not a plug and play guy, but a guy that you can just leave on the interior, you know what
01:25 you're going to get.
01:26 I'm curious to see how he, once he gets into a college strength program, could he even
01:30 add a little more speed to his pass rush and things like that.
01:33 But right off the bat to me, when you can go get a guy from Texas and I know people
01:37 are going to say, "Oh, it's a three star."
01:40 Anybody having lived in Ulis, Texas for a brief period of time, anybody that plays high
01:45 school football in the state of Texas, the competition level and just the way that they're
01:50 built up is so much different than so many other places in the country.
01:53 And even for California where see a guy that's a three star in California, wouldn't necessarily
01:58 be a four star in Texas, whereas a three star in Texas could be a four star in California.
02:03 I know that sounds kind of crazy, but that's why when some of these guys you look at them
02:07 and say, "Oh, the ranking doesn't necessarily do anything for me."
02:10 Just turn on the tape.
02:11 That's really what the coaches are doing here.
