00:11 Paddington had never been shopping in London before, especially at a store like Barcridges.
00:19 Equally, Barcridges had never had a customer quite like Paddington, especially in the gentleman's outfitting department.
00:30 "We would like some bears' pyjamas, please," said Mrs. Brown.
00:33 "Bears' pyjamas?" repeated the assistant. "Has Modem tried something in government surplus?"
00:39 "Indeed not," said Mrs. Brown. "I've never heard anything like it. Have you, Paddington?"
00:43 "Never," said Paddington hotly, and he gave the man one of his special hard stares.
00:50 "Yes, sir," said the assistant. "At once, sir."
00:54 "He's been sleeping in his duffel coat," explained Mrs. Brown, "and we don't want that."
00:58 "We certainly don't," agreed the assistant.
01:01 "Would the young gentleman care for something in stripes? They're all the rage just now."
01:07 "I'd sooner have something in spots," said Paddington. "If I had a pair like these, I don't think I would ever get lost.
01:12 Not even if I fell out of bed by mistake."
01:15 "You can say that again," murmured Judy.
01:17 "The changing rooms are on the right," called the assistant. "Don't go wrong."
01:21 "I do hope they fit," said Mrs. Brown. "He'll be most disappointed if they don't."
01:26 "So shall we all, Modem," said the assistant.
01:30 So far, Pyjama Week at Barcridges had been a disaster.
01:33 In fact, Paddington was the first customer they'd had for days.
01:37 But if Barcridges were unhappy about their pyjamas,
01:40 Paddington was even more upset by the state of their changing rooms.
01:43 As far as he could make out, most of the doors were locked.
01:46 And when he did find one which opened, he practically had to force his way through.

01:56 On the other hand, once inside, it was all very different.
02:00 It was more like the inside of a house. And he was most impressed.

02:42 Paddington wasn't sure how long he slept, but he was suddenly woken by a very strange noise.
02:47 It sounded just like rain.
02:49 But as he looked out of the window, he had yet another shock.
02:53 "Well?" said the voice behind him. "What are you doing in our shop window, bear?"
02:57 "Your shop window?" repeated Paddington.
03:00 He suddenly wished he hadn't bought such loud pyjamas.
03:03 "Oh dear," he announced to the world in general, "I think I've been recognised."
03:08 But to his surprise, the manager of Barkridges was more than delighted with all that had happened.
03:14 "Bear," he boomed, "you're what we in the trade call a trend-setter.
03:19 Since you went to bed in our shop window, those pyjamas have been selling like hot cakes.
03:24 Look at them. They've all gone."
03:28 And to show just how pleased he was, he offered Paddington anything he liked to choose in the store as a present.
03:34 Paddington licked his lips. All the excitement had made him feel hungry.
03:38 And he was tempted to ask for one of the hot cakes the manager had mentioned.
03:42 Then he caught sight of the very thing. Some Wellington boots.
03:47 "I'd like a pair of these, please," he announced.
03:50 "If it rains the next time I'm in bed, it'll stop the ends of my pyjamas getting soggy."
03:55 "That would never do, especially now you've sold out."
