00:00 Hello, there. Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. For most of us,
00:04 this Bank Holiday Monday really is going to be a day of sunshine and scattered showers.
00:08 But actually, down to central and eastern parts of England this morning, it should be
00:13 a largely fine start to the day. Elsewhere, showers from the world go and for many of
00:17 us come the afternoon, it will be a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers may merge
00:22 into a longer spell of rain at times across parts of Scotland. And for eastern and northeastern
00:26 Scotland, actually, here is the greatest risk of seeing some heavy and thundery downpours.
00:31 A warning is in force from the Met Office throughout the day here. So, do keep up to
00:35 date with the latest warnings on our website. For most of us, it's going to be a slightly
00:40 cooler feeling day compared to the weekend. Highs at best reaching around 17 or 18 degrees.
00:48 Into the evening, a lot of the showers across England and Wales fading away. Showers also
00:53 starting to slowly ease across parts of Scotland. Elsewhere, the showers giving way to a more
00:58 persistent band of rain in the west. And some of this rain come the end of the night will
01:03 be heavy in places where the further east you are probably turning dry and clear. So,
01:08 under the clear skies, temperatures just falling into single figures where further west you
01:12 are a fairly mild night to come with lows falling not much lower than 10 to 12 degrees.
01:19 So we do start Tuesday off with some sunshine in the east where further west this area of
01:25 rain will just gradually spread its way eastward soon, of course, of the day. Hanging on to
01:29 the driest and brightest weather for the longest up across the far north east of Scotland.
01:34 And then come the afternoon, something a little bit brighter coming through for Northern Ireland
01:38 and Wales. But a rest of the showers also following the main rain band. For most temperatures,
01:44 around average for the time of year. But if you're stuck under the rain, factor in the
01:48 breeze, I think it's going to feel fairly disappointing for this point in May. And then
01:54 a quick look at the rest of the half term week is unfortunately remaining fairly changeable
01:58 for most of the UK. Further spells of rain and showers and again, the showers will be
02:03 heavy and thundery in places. But there are hints high pressure will start to build in
02:07 from the west as we head towards the end of the week and into the weekend. So it's like
02:11 a little bit dry and brighter developing, especially across more western parts of the
02:15 UK. But you can find out more about the weather where you are in the next few days on our
02:20 website or app. But for me for now, take care and I'll see you again soon.
