00:00 Express and Star, we're talking to another customer at the Cup of Joy in Penn, enjoying a nice cup of coffee this lunchtime.
00:10 What was your reaction when the election was called yesterday? Did it surprise you?
00:15 Not really, because it has been a bit of a shamble.
00:22 In what way? Did you mean recently?
00:25 I mean, in the long period, I think both sides are trying to promote the area, but not much is being done swiftly.
00:37 Look at my throat on the road, there are so many gaps, it's becoming dangerous.
00:42 And during the Covid, they've taken the cricket club away, now it's just a mountain, and we don't know what's happening to it.
00:52 They just destroyed a nice neighbourhood for cricket, football. It's been six or seven years now, and it's really bad.
01:02 So local issues are going to be at the forefront for you?
01:06 Yes, yes.
01:07 Will that sway you when deciding who to vote for in a general election?
01:13 Oh, quite definitely, yes.
01:16 You've got two or three new candidates, because it's a new boundary changes.
01:22 You're not aware of their presence at the moment, are you?
01:27 I'm sure you will be, but are you open to persuasion in terms of local issues that you mentioned?
01:36 Yes, probably it works, because everyone is talking about it.
01:40 In Ward 9, especially in the Ferry area, there are so many roads that are so bad.
01:46 And also, we have the traffic, the speed here.
01:50 Over 30km/h is not a thing to do.
01:53 It's a residential area.
01:56 It's not that traffic is slow, but speed is not.
02:00 But people do do that.
02:02 And nationally, have you got any views on how the present government is doing, whether change is needed, or are you yet to decide on that?
02:11 Well, they've been doing it for so much, it's unreliable.
02:18 In the past maybe five or ten years, pre-Covid and post-Covid, it's all a reaction suddenly, without thinking.
02:29 The injection, for example.
02:32 Some are wrong.
02:33 We should have worked it out properly, rather than rush.
02:37 And here, our hospitals, everything is on the mobile, on the phone.
02:43 The economy needs to be, we cannot do it.
02:46 The phone is being pushed away.
02:50 So some good issues locally and nationally for the politicians to get their heads around?
02:56 To think on, but we keep saying that when we let them accomplish our duty, we will do that.
03:02 It's being done.
03:03 But what about things that is not being done?
03:05 Overlooked.
03:07 Well, thank you for talking to us today.
03:09 Thank you.
