00:00 JD Piquel from on three.
00:02 He is legitimately high on what Miami is doing.
00:06 I've spoken with him before.
00:08 There's no agenda on JD's part.
00:10 This is what if JD Piquel tells you Miami's the 14th ranked team
00:15 preseason, that's I'm not saying he's right necessarily, but that's
00:19 being that's his honest opinion.
00:21 I don't believe there's any agenda or any bias that comes with that
00:24 because some things I know about JD's views on Miami, he's very high on Cam Ward.
00:29 Higher than most members of the media.
00:32 Cause I think a lot of people just don't, you know, maybe the fact that he
00:34 played at Washington state, which wasn't on TV a whole lot, that they're not
00:38 really paying attention to what happened in Miami in the spring where I, I was
00:41 at every spring practice, Cam Ward looked fantastic.
00:44 I, I'm, I'm, I'm not accustomed to seeing quarterback play like that in Miami
00:48 Hurricanes practices, because obviously quarterback has been a position where
00:52 Miami has been lacking over the years.
00:54 Um, so Piquel he's very high on Cam Ward and, you know, he understands that Miami,
01:00 Miami is building their team from the inside out with a strong emphasis
01:05 on the line of scrimmage and that's usually a recipe for success.
01:08 So, um, am I telling you?
01:10 Yeah, he's right.
01:11 Miami's the 14th best team in the country.
01:13 That's not what I'm saying.
01:14 If it were up to me, um, and also, you know, anyone who, who roots for Miami,
01:20 we all have the battle scars.
01:21 Like we all have the PTSD over the years where, you know, for the better part of
01:25 the last 20 years, they have underperformed, not overperformed our expectations.
01:30 So JD doesn't come in with that sort of baggage that we have.
01:34 Uh, if it were up to me, I'd probably have Miami ranked like in the low twenties.
01:38 Uh, so I'm not saying he's right about 14, but could they be the 14th or even 12th
01:44 best team in the country, uh, with, with the type of roster that they're building
01:48 with cam ward and Damian Martinez and Xavier Restrepo and Ruben Bain and Kiko
01:53 Maui Noah, and I could go on and on and on.
01:55 Uh, yeah, I, I could see a scenario where Miami could push for
01:58 a college football playoff spot.
02:00 I've just, where I'm at is.
02:01 I've got to see it to believe it.
02:03 I've, I've got to see how they look against Florida.
02:06 Got to see what they do mid October against Florida state, which is the
02:09 toughest game on the schedule, in my opinion.
02:11 So, um, you know, I'm not, I'm not ready to anoint Miami, but I can tell you as
02:16 far as JD Pickles preseason 14th ranking, that's not from any, any agenda.
02:23 He's not a Miami fan, nor is he a Miami hater, and he is genuinely
02:27 high on what Miami is building.
