00:00:02 - What's going on everyone?
00:00:19 Taylor Kyle's here for CLNS Media
00:00:21 coming in with another episode of Pat's Daily
00:00:23 brought to you by our good friends
00:00:24 at PrizePix and FanDuel.
00:00:26 I'm continuing my search throughout the AFC East
00:00:28 to get different people's perspectives
00:00:30 on how the Patriots have done this off season,
00:00:32 specifically in the draft,
00:00:34 as well as the outlook for the entire division.
00:00:36 How does it look?
00:00:37 How do the teams stack up now that rosters
00:00:39 are looking a lot different than they did last year,
00:00:41 at least for most teams?
00:00:42 I'm continuing my look.
00:00:44 I got the Bills, I got the Dolphins,
00:00:45 and now we're getting a Jets perspective
00:00:47 from one of my absolute favorite people,
00:00:49 especially when it comes to the Jets.
00:00:51 I don't have a lot of favorite Jets people.
00:00:53 Paul, it's you and Connor Rodgers,
00:00:54 the only people I can stand,
00:00:55 but making his debut on Pat's bullpen,
00:00:58 I don't know how, or Pat's Daily, I'm sorry.
00:01:00 I don't know how that's possible,
00:01:01 but we're finally making it happen.
00:01:02 Paul Andrew Esdon Jr. of the "Man Tiled" show
00:01:06 with Boy Green.
00:01:07 Paul, how you doing, buddy?
00:01:08 And welcome to the program.
00:01:10 - Yeah, I gotta assume that you were saving best for last.
00:01:13 That's the only possible explanation
00:01:15 for what could have possibly transpired here.
00:01:17 But nonetheless, I am appreciative
00:01:20 of the invite on the program.
00:01:21 Long overdue, my friend, long overdue.
00:01:23 - Absolutely.
00:01:24 But it's a little bit of both.
00:01:25 One of my favorite people,
00:01:26 and just so happens to be my least favorite team
00:01:28 in the AFC East.
00:01:29 Somehow those two teams came together absolutely perfectly.
00:01:32 All right, before we get into the AFC East
00:01:34 and the Patriots and all that good stuff,
00:01:36 let's talk about schedules.
00:01:37 Patriots and the Jets are playing each other in week three,
00:01:40 while the Patriots are in the middle of an absolute gauntlet.
00:01:44 Really got kind of hosed when it comes to the schedule,
00:01:46 but you can't complain, you play who you play.
00:01:47 That's gonna be after the Bengals and the Seahawks,
00:01:49 they go and take on the Jets Thursday night football
00:01:52 on the road.
00:01:53 And then they meet again in week eight
00:01:55 after the Jaguars game.
00:01:56 So again, not a lot of favors to the Patriots,
00:01:59 but from a Jets perspective,
00:02:00 what did you think about how the schedule worked out
00:02:02 for those teams and for the Jets overall?
00:02:04 - Yeah, I will just say, first off,
00:02:07 speaking on behalf of the Jets,
00:02:09 we are absolutely honored to be hosting
00:02:11 your only primetime game of the season.
00:02:13 We'll treat you well, it'll be nice.
00:02:17 I'm sure we'll take a real good care
00:02:18 of the New England Patriots.
00:02:20 So from that perspective, spectacular.
00:02:23 All good things come to those who wait.
00:02:24 That's a home opener, it's week three for the Jets,
00:02:26 couple of road trips to kick off the season.
00:02:28 So that's nice.
00:02:29 I will tell you, it's interesting.
00:02:32 We've done a lot of these schedule prediction shows
00:02:34 and things have been appearing
00:02:35 on a couple of different programs.
00:02:37 And I had a lot of people clap back at my take.
00:02:41 I'm like, "Boy, the Jets are gonna be in primetime mucho."
00:02:44 And people are like, "Pfft."
00:02:45 They learned their lesson, the NFL schedule making gods.
00:02:48 They're not gonna dip their toes back in those waters.
00:02:51 I'm like, "All right, well, we'll see what happens."
00:02:53 I said, "I think they're getting seven standalone games."
00:02:56 If people said, "Paul, you're an idiot."
00:02:57 I'm gonna be honest, I probably get that every day.
00:02:59 But in particular, it was a little bit more picked up
00:03:02 in this particular category.
00:03:04 And how many did the Jets get?
00:03:06 Seven standalone games.
00:03:07 So again, I don't give predictions, I give spoiler alerts.
00:03:09 So it's about time that some people were,
00:03:11 you know, drinking the Kool-Aid.
00:03:13 And they got a lot of it, and it's all early.
00:03:15 I will be speaking with the director
00:03:18 of NFL Broadcasting, Charlotte,
00:03:20 on my show, Charlotte Carey, on "Boy Green Daily."
00:03:23 We know both doing these daily shows, you know?
00:03:25 And Charlotte's gonna join us,
00:03:27 and I'm gonna kind of dive into that.
00:03:28 But one of the things I assume is with whatever that is,
00:03:33 that seven standalone games in the first 11 weeks
00:03:36 of the season, six primetime games, which is an NFL record,
00:03:39 was that Aaron Rodgers injury insurance.
00:03:41 'Cause he went four snaps in, and then he was oustered.
00:03:44 I'm curious if the NFL was sort of protecting themselves
00:03:47 because they don't wanna miss the Aaron Rodgers ride.
00:03:49 And that's kind of the sense I got
00:03:50 from the NFL schedule-making people
00:03:52 throughout this process, that sure, if we undersell it
00:03:55 and don't give the Jets a lot of primetime games,
00:03:57 and Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers that we know,
00:03:59 the NFL schedule-makers are gonna be kicking their feet
00:04:02 like, "Damn it, we missed this."
00:04:04 And they'd much rather get it, you know,
00:04:06 over correct than under,
00:04:08 and have more of the games in there than not,
00:04:11 and then have the back half of the schedule
00:04:12 of Rodgers and the Jets are competitive,
00:04:14 that you can potentially create
00:04:16 some flex opportunities there.
00:04:17 So I thought the primetime games were gonna happen.
00:04:19 They've come in full flower.
00:04:20 The only one I was wrong about,
00:04:21 I thought they were going to make
00:04:23 the Black Friday thing a tradition.
00:04:24 They are having another Black Friday game,
00:04:26 but it is Raiders-Chiefs,
00:04:28 not keeping it in the New York, New Jersey thing.
00:04:30 That was the only twist I kind of miscalculated.
00:04:33 I thought that would continue with the New York market,
00:04:35 whether it was Giants, Jets, or Bills,
00:04:37 kind of keeping that thing going.
00:04:39 But a lot of primetime games,
00:04:41 and the Jets are getting the Royal treatment.
00:04:43 They have three games in the first 10 days of the season,
00:04:46 so they're gonna be challenged.
00:04:47 - If the Jets fancy themselves a contender,
00:04:50 and that's what Jets people say
00:04:51 inside and outside the building,
00:04:52 that they believe they're a contender,
00:04:53 well, we're gonna find out week one,
00:04:55 Monday Night Football in San Francisco
00:04:57 against the reigning NFC champions.
00:04:59 - Yes, we will.
00:05:00 First of all, how did you get to seven?
00:05:01 That's very specific and very impressive.
00:05:04 Also, in terms of the Rodgers insurance,
00:05:05 do they have any games in the back end
00:05:07 that are still to be determined?
00:05:08 The Patriots have that with the Chargers and the Bills,
00:05:11 which feels like they're just waiting to see
00:05:12 if Drake Mays can end up playing the two quarterbacks
00:05:15 he was most calm to and try to get in primetime
00:05:18 if he ends up being the starter.
00:05:19 So did they have any ones that could possibly be flexed
00:05:21 into some primetime spots?
00:05:23 - Yeah, that is the week 18 game
00:05:24 is the only TBD they have on the schedule.
00:05:26 That's the final regular season home finale
00:05:28 against Miami Dolphins, which is kind of ironic
00:05:31 that it's the first time the Dolphins are visiting the Jets
00:05:33 in the regular season finale since,
00:05:36 well, now that we have the Bills,
00:05:37 winning the division for four years in a row.
00:05:38 But when it was Patriots forever,
00:05:40 the only blip on the radar was Tom Brady
00:05:42 blown out as ACL, sorry, Patriot fans,
00:05:44 blown out as ACL on that Chiefs game.
00:05:46 And then you had Matt Castle come in.
00:05:48 And that one year that the Patriots didn't win the division,
00:05:50 the Dolphins did, and they won it on a tiebreaker.
00:05:52 And that was a former Jet quarterback, Chad Pennington,
00:05:54 who they dumped because of Brett Favre
00:05:56 and this and that and that.
00:05:57 So this is the first time we're having that game
00:05:59 since 2008, which is kind of funny
00:06:01 how that all comes full circle.
00:06:03 So that one's the only TBD at the end of the schedule
00:06:06 and the rest are all locked into their places.
00:06:08 But the NFL always has the right,
00:06:11 as we will see with the big red button
00:06:13 in the middle of the room,
00:06:14 if they want to dive deeper in on some of those prime times.
00:06:17 And how did I land on the seven?
00:06:19 I got to the seven in a unique way,
00:06:20 'cause like I said, Black Friday doesn't count
00:06:22 for a prime time and neither does the London game,
00:06:24 which are standalone games.
00:06:26 But I thought they were gonna get
00:06:27 what I initially interpreted as a five prime max,
00:06:30 but it's not a max anymore, it's now six.
00:06:33 There was a recent NFL rule change.
00:06:35 So you can have a maximum of six, which the Jets got,
00:06:37 plus you got the standalone game of London.
00:06:39 But I did think Black Friday
00:06:40 was gonna get worked in there, it did not.
00:06:42 That's how I ended up at the seven.
00:06:43 I just thought the NFL was gonna flex its muscles.
00:06:46 It's kind of what we're seeing
00:06:47 in the NBA playoffs with the New York Knicks.
00:06:49 When the Knicks are relevant, it's good for the NBA.
00:06:52 When they're on the Madison Square Garden
00:06:54 and a playoff basketball is going on,
00:06:55 it's good for business.
00:06:56 I think the NFL views the Jets in the same category.
00:06:59 When the Jets are good or the Giants are good,
00:07:01 that's good for business.
00:07:02 So let's maximize on that business
00:07:04 by putting them in as many possible windows as possible.
00:07:08 - You hope that works out, 'cause otherwise you get stuck
00:07:10 with what the Giants have every year,
00:07:12 where it's like, why do I feel like every other week
00:07:14 I'm watching the Giants and Daniel Jones in primetime?
00:07:17 It drives me crazy.
00:07:18 But in that way, I'm hoping Aaron Rodgers stays healthy.
00:07:21 'Cause man, if I have to watch, I love Gerard Taylor,
00:07:24 but he's got his own injury history.
00:07:25 And what does it then like, we'll get into that later.
00:07:27 But fingers crossed that Rodgers stays healthy
00:07:29 for entertainment purposes.
00:07:31 Now, also real quick before we move on,
00:07:33 Panthers, no primetime games.
00:07:35 I thought there was a rule that you at least
00:07:37 had to have Thursday night football.
00:07:38 Were you surprised by that?
00:07:39 - Yeah, that's another recent rule change.
00:07:41 Thankfully, 'cause I'm a schedule nerd,
00:07:43 I knew about some of these things that they changed.
00:07:45 For instance, another rule that Jet fans
00:07:46 became familiar with, 'cause when they saw a schedule leak,
00:07:49 shout out to Matt O'Leary, a Jet's content creator,
00:07:52 he got the full schedule leak and sent it out.
00:07:54 And a lot of people trashed him saying,
00:07:55 two Thursday night football games.
00:07:57 What are you, an idiot or something?
00:07:58 You can't have two Thursday night football games.
00:08:00 And the NFL changed that last year.
00:08:02 So they changed, number one, that teams don't all have
00:08:05 to have a participation trophy of appearing.
00:08:07 And number two, that you can have multiple
00:08:08 Thursday night football games.
00:08:10 And we saw both to your Panthers point
00:08:12 and also to the Thursday night point.
00:08:13 So you're allowed to have multiple
00:08:14 Thursday night football games.
00:08:16 And the Jets have both of theirs
00:08:17 'cause it's Patriots week three home opener
00:08:19 and then a Halloween, which is a nice little special
00:08:21 against CJ Stroud, that should be juicy.
00:08:23 That's in week nine.
00:08:24 So you have both of those in the first nine weeks
00:08:26 of the season.
00:08:27 So no, not surprised on that.
00:08:29 And the Panthers, I hope for Bryce Young's sake
00:08:32 and hopefully this is a cautionary tale
00:08:34 for the New England Patriots.
00:08:35 I know we'll get into Drake May stuff later,
00:08:37 is that, you know, there's a chance to be David Card.
00:08:41 I don't know if that's a verb,
00:08:42 but we'll try to throw it out there.
00:08:43 That like, if you throw some young promising youngster
00:08:45 out there, especially with Bryce,
00:08:46 who obviously the size was a uniqueness
00:08:49 in NFL draft history of getting a guy at that size
00:08:53 and throwing him out there and seeing
00:08:54 if he can stand through it.
00:08:57 And by the way, for the most part,
00:08:58 he did outside of a couple of random injuries here or there,
00:09:01 for the most part, he stayed all the way through,
00:09:03 which is a tip of the cap to him, but no.
00:09:05 So not surprised on Panthers.
00:09:06 Hopefully they do a better job of surrounding him
00:09:08 with talent because like I said,
00:09:10 we've seen so many throughout history,
00:09:11 whether it's an initial thing where things go very poorly
00:09:14 for a young quarterback and he's out,
00:09:16 or it's a cautionary tale after the fact,
00:09:18 like Andrew Luck not surrounding him with the proper stuff.
00:09:20 And then you see his career short,
00:09:21 like, damn, that could have been this if this happened.
00:09:24 And I'm sure that's how a lot of Colts people feel as well.
00:09:27 - I did not realize you were a schedule guru like this,
00:09:29 but next year, we're definitely having you on
00:09:31 before the schedule drops to get some of your predictions.
00:09:33 That was fantastic.
00:09:34 All right, now let's get to some of the meat and potatoes.
00:09:37 Start with the Patriots here.
00:09:38 It is a Patriot-centric show,
00:09:39 so we got to get a little bit of dessert first.
00:09:41 Now, what were your thoughts on New England's draft?
00:09:43 Obviously, seven of the eight players they took
00:09:46 were on the offensive side of the ball.
00:09:47 The one defender was Marcellus Dial late on day three,
00:09:50 but she got two quarterbacks, two wide receivers,
00:09:53 two offensive linemen,
00:09:54 and a promising young tight end in Jaheim Bell.
00:09:57 Now I'm super excited about this class.
00:09:58 I love that they got some dogs,
00:10:00 some guys with great work ethics, tough.
00:10:01 We're also super talented,
00:10:03 but I also understand if you want a nitpick
00:10:05 from different perspectives,
00:10:06 you could see maybe the value wasn't there with some picks,
00:10:08 and that's totally understandable.
00:10:10 So what did you think of the class overall?
00:10:13 - I'm going to be honest.
00:10:13 I'll start with,
00:10:14 I would have done something differently at the top.
00:10:16 To be honest, I would have pressed the button
00:10:19 on the Giants straight back.
00:10:21 So I've heard of, I don't know,
00:10:22 what you've been able to confirm, Taylor,
00:10:24 but I'll throw the two out there that I've heard,
00:10:25 and I'm curious if you can verify those.
00:10:28 I heard that there was a Giants swap from six to three,
00:10:31 which would have given you the six and the future first.
00:10:34 That was confirmed by an NFL media person.
00:10:35 So I'm kind of curious there.
00:10:37 And then number two was the Vikings offer,
00:10:39 which was 11, 23, and the future first.
00:10:41 That was the package to move up to three.
00:10:43 And I'm like, boy, if I'm the Patriots,
00:10:46 and let me start this off with all due respect.
00:10:48 And by the way, this is how the rule works.
00:10:50 As soon as I say with all due respect,
00:10:51 I can then say whatever I want.
00:10:53 Dems the rules, okay, Patriot fan?
00:10:55 So with all due respect, I broke down,
00:10:58 I'll give you this.
00:10:59 Here we go.
00:10:59 I got a piece of paper.
00:11:00 I'll get my reading glasses out,
00:11:02 which are separate from my normal glasses.
00:11:04 I went through the Patriots roster
00:11:06 and I wrote down players I love, players I love on the team.
00:11:09 There's a wide variety here from David Andrews,
00:11:12 Christian Gonzalez, Christian Barmore, Matt Judon,
00:11:15 Mike Onwenu, Ramon Drews, Davidson, Kyle Duggar.
00:11:17 There's a big list of guys that I like,
00:11:19 but not big enough of a list.
00:11:21 You know, I think the roster needs some TLC,
00:11:24 a little bit of love, some nurturing,
00:11:26 perhaps a gardener to come in there
00:11:27 and just kind of survey the landscape.
00:11:30 I think they would have been better served by moving back.
00:11:32 Obviously the Patriots feel differently
00:11:34 'cause they think Drake Mays
00:11:35 is gonna be the second coming of Jesus, which phenomenal.
00:11:38 Great, if that ends up being the case there.
00:11:40 But I just feel like with how the roster is,
00:11:42 I would have traded back
00:11:44 'cause maybe you could double dip.
00:11:45 Maybe you could get freaky.
00:11:46 Maybe this is too freaky,
00:11:47 but you go from three to six swap of the Giants
00:11:49 to get the future one.
00:11:50 And then if Minnesota is still froggy with what's available,
00:11:53 which by the way, Pennix would have still been on the board,
00:11:54 have no idea how Minnesota potentially felt about him
00:11:57 or JJ McCarthy, who they ended up doing the mini swap
00:12:00 with the Jets, then you move back one more time.
00:12:02 Maybe you double dip and do that.
00:12:03 Or if you just stay at six
00:12:04 and the Patriots can get the future first,
00:12:07 which is gonna be massively important
00:12:08 and they get something that could have helped.
00:12:10 Olu Fashinu was a guy I really liked.
00:12:12 So maybe the Patriots would have dipped their toe
00:12:14 in that direction.
00:12:15 They could have gotten one of the receivers
00:12:16 if they went with six
00:12:17 'cause neighbors would have still been on the board.
00:12:18 Roma Duncey would have still been on the board.
00:12:20 So right off the top for the Patriots draft,
00:12:23 the thing I would have done personally
00:12:24 is trade back on one of those options.
00:12:26 And I've listened to some of your shows, Taylor,
00:12:28 about whether or not you would have
00:12:30 or would have not traded back with some of those.
00:12:33 So I've been listening to some of your program,
00:12:35 listening to some of that.
00:12:36 That's what I would have done
00:12:37 if I was the new England Patriots.
00:12:38 Obviously they chose not to.
00:12:40 So when you just judge the draft class as is,
00:12:42 the Patriots check things off their bucket list
00:12:44 that they had to check off their bucket list positionally.
00:12:47 I love the attention to the offense.
00:12:49 It's similar, quite frankly, to what the Jets have done.
00:12:52 They've been a defensive heavy team
00:12:54 as it pertains to the draft.
00:12:56 This year, they had historic run of offensive picks
00:12:59 and only ended up with a couple of defenders at the end
00:13:01 with guys like Quantez Diggers and Jalen Key
00:13:04 at the back end of the draft.
00:13:05 All the rest of the attention was on offense.
00:13:07 And when you draft a quarterback
00:13:08 with the third overall pick in Drake May,
00:13:10 you need to surround it with as much town as possible.
00:13:12 And Lord have mercy, the Patriots needed some TLC
00:13:16 on the offensive side of the ball.
00:13:17 So that I loved, and I love several of the receivers,
00:13:19 Jalen Polk, I love Javon Baker,
00:13:21 which we could get into in a little bit more detail.
00:13:23 A dark throat quarterback with Joe Milton,
00:13:25 who's got a rocket launcher
00:13:26 surgically attached to his shoulder.
00:13:28 A throw, a dart throw there, as far as I'm concerned.
00:13:30 I like the double dip.
00:13:31 Hey, the double dip at quarterback work for Washington.
00:13:34 They did the old RG3 Kirk Cousins.
00:13:36 You never know, quarterback factory
00:13:39 and being able to have that talent in the room
00:13:41 and pulling that off, I thought was a talented.
00:13:43 Jaheim Bell, I love that dart throw at the end too,
00:13:45 at tight end for Florida State.
00:13:47 Although tight end is almost a disservice
00:13:49 for all the different things he can do.
00:13:50 So I love that they addressed
00:13:52 all the positions they should have.
00:13:53 I love the attention to the offense.
00:13:55 I love the receiver picks.
00:13:56 Those are great.
00:13:57 I probably would have traded back,
00:13:58 but I understand if they have the conviction for the pick,
00:14:00 make the pick at quarterback.
00:14:02 - 20 mentioned the RG3 double dip situation.
00:14:04 Literally before the draft, I did ask him,
00:14:07 what was that like?
00:14:07 Just in case the Patriots do,
00:14:09 it seems like something the Packers kind of mentality
00:14:11 would go with.
00:14:12 How did you feel?
00:14:13 But it was a very different situation
00:14:14 where you take a guy with third overall
00:14:16 versus like a sixth, seventh round pick.
00:14:18 It's like, all right,
00:14:19 we understand that one guy's developmental.
00:14:20 Whereas with, you know, the Washington,
00:14:23 it was a first round pick and then a fourth round pick
00:14:24 where it's like, that's a little too close.
00:14:27 It feels like there might be some low key competition here.
00:14:29 And obviously it worked out how it worked out.
00:14:31 I understand the perspective
00:14:32 that they should have traded back.
00:14:33 I might not agree,
00:14:34 but it's one that you've obviously very logically explained
00:14:37 and it makes sense.
00:14:38 But the way things worked out, I am happy.
00:14:40 And the fact that you do like the players they got
00:14:42 just makes it feel a little bit better.
00:14:44 Now let's get into some specifics.
00:14:46 From a Jets perspective,
00:14:47 who are your favorite and least favorite picks?
00:14:50 So we can call favorite the guy where you got him
00:14:52 and you were like, oh, I don't know about that value.
00:14:54 So that works as a division rival.
00:14:56 And then the pick where you were like,
00:14:57 I really didn't want them to get that guy.
00:14:58 And now we have to play him at least twice a year
00:15:00 for the foreseeable future.
00:15:02 - Yeah, I'll start with the bad first where they got him.
00:15:05 I'm like, son of a, gosh darn it.
00:15:07 'Cause it's funny, you joined my show
00:15:08 and you were talking about Brock Bowers
00:15:10 being that guy for the New York Jets.
00:15:12 And by the way, a lot of fans immediately thought
00:15:14 it was some sort of reverse psychology
00:15:16 that you set it to like reverse it.
00:15:19 So Jet fans think that's what you wanted
00:15:21 and then they get them.
00:15:21 And then they were like, aha, I tricked you.
00:15:24 So a lot of Jet fans did think of that
00:15:25 after you left the show, by the way.
00:15:26 So I appreciate that,
00:15:27 but I will spill my pure guts on the table here
00:15:30 for Patriot fans.
00:15:33 I think this is a thousand percent the truth.
00:15:35 The Jets had the number one 11 overall pick
00:15:37 in the fourth round.
00:15:38 I think I tweeted this at you too.
00:15:39 The Jets had the number one 11 overall pick
00:15:41 in the fourth round.
00:15:42 The Patriots had pick 110.
00:15:43 When they took Javon Baker UCF,
00:15:45 I think the Jets went son of a gosh darn
00:15:48 and probably like, you know, A-A wrong.
00:15:50 And then the key peel just kind of slams the table
00:15:53 and throws everything off.
00:15:54 I think that's a hundred percent what happened there.
00:15:56 I think the Jets wanted him because,
00:15:58 so I think they wanted him because I think
00:16:00 he was very highly sought after by them.
00:16:02 And another little teaser or a little nugget
00:16:05 that seems to indicate that they did,
00:16:07 they essentially gave away the number 111th overall pick.
00:16:10 They lost out on the trade value chart
00:16:12 and just seemingly gave it away to the Eagles.
00:16:14 I'm just like, wow, it's weird to have someone trade up
00:16:17 that far and they lose value points.
00:16:20 It just doesn't seem to add up.
00:16:21 Again, we all know the draft value chart
00:16:23 is more so a guideline than a hard fast rule,
00:16:26 but it just seemed weird that for no apparent reason,
00:16:28 they gave it back to get a sixth.
00:16:30 Now, ultimately they end up flipping one of those fours
00:16:32 for a future three from the Lions.
00:16:34 So it all savvy, lily, a made up word,
00:16:37 works out at the end of the day.
00:16:39 But in the moment, it seemed like it was a panic thing.
00:16:41 Like son of a gun, that was our guy.
00:16:43 Now he's not, let's book out.
00:16:45 So I love the two receivers.
00:16:46 So that's the one where I'm like, you bastards.
00:16:49 Like Jalen Polk.
00:16:50 And that's been kind of a polarizing one.
00:16:51 Cause like for instance, Connor Rogers said,
00:16:53 Jalen Polk is his number five overall receiver in this class.
00:16:56 And I've heard others go, ugh, hate the value.
00:16:58 I think Mel Kiper may have been one of the ones
00:17:00 who didn't love the Polk value there in the second round.
00:17:03 But I'll tell you, I love Polk.
00:17:04 He, to me is great.
00:17:06 And then also I found this stat just cause I like
00:17:08 twisting the knife on Patriot fans.
00:17:09 Again, reading glasses.
00:17:11 77 NFL players had more receiving yards
00:17:14 than a New England's leading receiver last season.
00:17:17 So you can look at that as bad.
00:17:19 It's kind of funny, but you can also look at it
00:17:21 from a different perspective.
00:17:22 There is plenty of opportunity here
00:17:24 in the Patriots receiving core,
00:17:26 which I think I love for these receivers coming in
00:17:29 these variety rounds with Jalen Polk in the second round
00:17:31 and having Baker in the fourth round.
00:17:33 That's opportunity for these young bucks to eat,
00:17:36 to develop and to go through their process.
00:17:38 That to me is highly intriguing
00:17:40 for opportunities from those two.
00:17:42 And so I'm hoping that they get those kinds of opportunities
00:17:45 in this offense.
00:17:46 - Give me a chance for one of those.
00:17:47 I also love this from Connor Rogers.
00:17:49 He called Jalen Polk,
00:17:50 perhaps the best blocking receiver in this class.
00:17:53 Also quite frankly, I just got overshadowed a bit
00:17:55 by Roma Dunze being a freak and I love Roma Dunze
00:17:58 and that's who I wanted for the Jets to draft.
00:18:00 But I think that kind of did a disservice to Polk
00:18:02 who really flew under the radar.
00:18:03 Works out for the Patriots in terms of value
00:18:05 ultimately where they end up getting it.
00:18:08 But I love the receivers.
00:18:09 That's the one where I'm like, you frigging bastards.
00:18:11 Both of them, quite frankly, but more specifically
00:18:13 cause the Jets didn't have a second round pick.
00:18:15 They only had pick 72, but more in particular,
00:18:18 Javon Baker, I am a thousand percent convinced
00:18:21 that the Jets completely traded up
00:18:22 because they wanted Polk and they didn't end up,
00:18:24 or Baker, excuse me.
00:18:25 And they didn't end up getting him in the fourth round.
00:18:28 In terms of like making fun of the Patriots.
00:18:32 Now I will tell you one that I kind of looked at sideways
00:18:37 to be frank and you know,
00:18:39 we use the mock draft machines to do our mock drafts.
00:18:41 They pay the bills, they keep the lights on.
00:18:43 One player I saw all the time that was basically undrafted
00:18:46 was the guy you guys ended up taking earlier
00:18:48 in the fourth round and Leighton Robinson,
00:18:50 the interior offensive lineman from Texas A&M.
00:18:53 Although the Patriots have kind of a history
00:18:54 of Cole strange and these weird ass picks
00:18:57 where like, hmm, that seems a little bizarre.
00:18:59 So if I had to make fun of something,
00:19:01 I suppose it would be that.
00:19:03 And then I would give just another quickie
00:19:05 cause I know we'll get into him as well in Drake May.
00:19:07 Connor Rogers, as we're getting to the end of the season
00:19:10 where the Jets are doing a cup of suck extra success,
00:19:13 you know, and that's happened.
00:19:14 They're like, man, you know what?
00:19:15 If the Jets fall in the right range to get Drake May
00:19:17 this kind of Roger speaking,
00:19:18 I'd want to take him even with Rogers.
00:19:20 That's how high kind of Rogers was on Drake May.
00:19:23 And again, Connor's a guy I respect very much.
00:19:26 So with all the work that he puts in for the draft
00:19:28 when he's saying that I'm digging more and more
00:19:30 in on Drake May.
00:19:31 So for you guys to have him fall to third overall,
00:19:34 which again was another thing Jet fans are cheering.
00:19:36 Hey, look at those bastards.
00:19:37 They failed the three Washington got to two.
00:19:39 They're going to be screwed
00:19:40 out of the quarterback conversation.
00:19:41 And they ended up getting the guy
00:19:42 that a lot of Jet fans were rallying around.
00:19:44 So I know a lot of Jet fans may be making fun of it now,
00:19:47 but if you give it some truth serum,
00:19:49 we're on top of the mountain top.
00:19:50 There's a lot of people,
00:19:51 if it would have broken a certain way
00:19:52 that the Jets would have been interested in Drake May
00:19:55 based on some of that Connor Rogers commentary.
00:19:57 - Once again, if you're a Patriots fan,
00:19:59 listen to this, you should be very happy.
00:20:00 Cause two of the biggest holes on the roster
00:20:02 are ones that even someone from outside of the division
00:20:05 looks at and says, damn, that was pretty good.
00:20:07 Also, I'm curious.
00:20:08 I'm not even trying to be a jerk here,
00:20:10 but when you mentioned what happened after the Baker pick,
00:20:12 I kind of brings me back to the Jermaine Johnson pick
00:20:14 where is it like a weird pattern
00:20:16 where sometimes the Jets get panicky
00:20:18 when they can't get the player they wanted?
00:20:20 Or is it just those two things that I'm extrapolating?
00:20:22 Cause that just brought me back
00:20:24 to what happened a couple of years ago,
00:20:25 where it seemed like they kind of,
00:20:26 I forget which player it was that they wanted,
00:20:29 came off the board.
00:20:30 And then it seemed like they kind of, you know,
00:20:33 it got a little angry.
00:20:35 - Yeah, I'll clarify for you.
00:20:36 Cause I'm sure you're not talking about Jermaine Johnson.
00:20:37 I think you mean Will McDonald.
00:20:38 - Yes, yes, thank you.
00:20:40 Yes, yes.
00:20:41 - Yeah, Jermaine, they ended up trading back up
00:20:43 for from the second round to get 26.
00:20:45 It is Will McDonald was the 15th overall pick,
00:20:47 not this past draft, obviously.
00:20:49 That just happened in April was the year before.
00:20:51 Yeah, the player apparently that they wanted
00:20:53 was Georgia's Broderick Jones.
00:20:55 And he was the offensive tackle.
00:20:57 He was the last of the class and the Jets, you know,
00:21:01 this Aaron Rodgers thing is happening.
00:21:03 And there's two lines of defense.
00:21:05 There's half the people saying, okay,
00:21:06 Aaron Rodgers just said publicly,
00:21:08 I intend to play for the New York Jets.
00:21:11 And Jet fans are like, okay,
00:21:12 wow, that value just went down the crapper for the Packers.
00:21:14 We know he's coming.
00:21:16 We know you ain't playing him.
00:21:17 Like it's gonna happen one way or another.
00:21:19 So when the final thing got pushed over the goal line,
00:21:22 which a lot of us believe was Jets ownership,
00:21:24 stepping in and saying, okay, enough is enough.
00:21:26 It's kind of what we see sometimes
00:21:28 when quarterbacks and their agents,
00:21:30 there's like an agent team conversation
00:21:32 for a contract extension.
00:21:33 And the agent's trying to get as much juice
00:21:35 out of the orange as possible.
00:21:36 And the quarterback just goes up to his agent.
00:21:38 Okay, enough's enough.
00:21:39 $40 million, $45 million.
00:21:41 It's all the same.
00:21:41 Like, let's roll.
00:21:42 Drew Brees did that a lot at the back end of his career
00:21:44 on some of those extension talks.
00:21:46 And then the agent's like, fine, let's just do it.
00:21:48 I think with this awkward staring contest
00:21:51 between the Packers and Jets,
00:21:52 Woody just came in and said, okay, enough's enough.
00:21:54 Let's get this guy in before the draft.
00:21:55 Let's stop playing around.
00:21:56 What are we talking about here?
00:21:57 This pick or this pick.
00:21:59 And one of the things I think the Jets
00:22:00 were overly aggressive on was giving up
00:22:02 the first round pick swap to Green Bay
00:22:04 in that first round that year for Will McDonald.
00:22:07 And it fell over the top.
00:22:08 It was 2023.
00:22:09 It fell over the top to give them that for no reason
00:22:12 'cause they were getting everything else.
00:22:13 They were getting the second round pick that year.
00:22:15 They were getting the conditional two
00:22:16 that could have been a first
00:22:16 based on Aaron Rodgers' playing time and all that stuff.
00:22:19 So to be honest, it fell over the top
00:22:21 and seemingly it cost them Roger Jones
00:22:24 if that was the player they were truly after.
00:22:25 They went from 13 to 15.
00:22:27 Patriots there at 14 said, hmm, any calls?
00:22:30 Any calls?
00:22:31 Oh, Steelers.
00:22:32 Oh, you want an offensive tackle?
00:22:33 I don't know who could possibly want
00:22:35 an offensive tackle behind us,
00:22:36 but sure, you bastards, you can take the pick.
00:22:38 And ultimately a lot of Jet fans believe
00:22:40 that New England gave the old FAA to the New York Jets
00:22:45 and Roger Jones ends up there.
00:22:46 So yeah, that's a player they were targeting.
00:22:48 So to the Will McDonald pick, that one fell.
00:22:50 Desperation.
00:22:51 They waited all the way to the seconds on the clock
00:22:53 and they say, oh, he was definitely the guy we wanted.
00:22:56 And Will, when we're talking to him after the draft,
00:22:58 he says, yeah, I'm gonna be honest.
00:23:00 I thought it was going in the 20s.
00:23:01 So cool.
00:23:02 15th overall, more money for me.
00:23:04 Yeah, so he's really, you know,
00:23:06 it just, all the pieces kind of seem like, you know,
00:23:09 despite the fact that the Jets are,
00:23:11 appear to be at least publicly,
00:23:12 super high on Will McDonald,
00:23:13 think he's gonna be a superstar is the word they keep using.
00:23:16 So maybe he ends up being it,
00:23:17 but in terms of the panic,
00:23:18 that's a hundred percent what happened there.
00:23:20 It's obviously more prevalent in the first round
00:23:22 than the fourth round,
00:23:23 but yeah, it certainly felt that way.
00:23:24 - Interesting.
00:23:25 I do remember Belichick was like,
00:23:26 yeah, we weren't trying to do that
00:23:28 with giving away Roger Jones, but hey,
00:23:30 we're okay not helping the Jets.
00:23:32 And to be fair,
00:23:33 the Bills kind of got some revenge on the Patriots
00:23:35 for you guys, because apparently they were in talks
00:23:38 to trade up into the first round to get Xavier Leguette.
00:23:41 The Bills had a handshake agreement
00:23:43 and then went to the Panthers and were like,
00:23:44 hey, we don't really want to trade our division rival
00:23:47 and give them another weapon.
00:23:49 Do you want to jump up?
00:23:50 And then that's how that happened.
00:23:51 Apparently the Patriots were not happy about that.
00:23:53 So, you know, these things, division rivalries,
00:23:56 they all kind of work out at some point.
00:23:58 Now, I'm curious what you think about Drake May
00:24:01 specifically when it comes to when he's going to play.
00:24:03 Now, especially with the schedule release,
00:24:05 the way it's mapped out,
00:24:06 it seems like with Caleb Williams and the Bears
00:24:09 are after the midway point,
00:24:10 which is if you're on a timeline,
00:24:12 you're thinking Drake's probably going to play
00:24:13 either halfway through the season
00:24:15 or maybe in the last month,
00:24:16 if things kind of go off the rails
00:24:17 and there's nothing really to lose.
00:24:19 And then that's why I think in the last month,
00:24:21 you played Josh Allen twice and Justin Herbert,
00:24:23 who again, Drake May has been compared to a ton.
00:24:25 It doesn't seem like that's coincidence.
00:24:27 When do you think Drake May,
00:24:29 or do you think Drake May will start his rookie season?
00:24:32 And does that affect how well you think the Patriots
00:24:34 will do down the stretch once he does take over,
00:24:36 if he takes over?
00:24:37 - Taylor, some great questions here.
00:24:40 That's why they pay you the big bucks,
00:24:41 you handsome bastard.
00:24:42 Yeah, I'll say this.
00:24:44 If I was the Patriots, I would try not to play him.
00:24:48 But I think that it's naive to have that
00:24:52 unless it's the absolute ideal circumstance,
00:24:55 Alex Smith playing whatever it was back then,
00:24:58 there was still 16 games of 15 of the 16,
00:25:00 Mahomes comes in there at the end.
00:25:02 In some of those rare circumstance
00:25:03 where you can actually follow through,
00:25:05 of course, we know the Aaron Rodgers,
00:25:06 we know the Jordan Love,
00:25:07 we know some of those examples
00:25:09 where teams say they wanna do this
00:25:11 and then they can actually do it.
00:25:12 And then other teams say they can and they can't.
00:25:15 I think Jacoby Brissett, I love Jacoby Brissett.
00:25:17 He's just a high floor guy.
00:25:19 You know what you're getting in terms of the personality,
00:25:21 the locker room leader, he just brings a high floor.
00:25:24 He's just a pros pro.
00:25:25 And I don't mean that in any insulting way.
00:25:27 He's just a pros pro from a quarterback perspective.
00:25:30 So I like him.
00:25:31 But with how Robert Kraft has talked this off season about,
00:25:34 we need to get a youngster in here,
00:25:36 a young quarterback in here.
00:25:38 It just seems like there's a lot of inherent pressure
00:25:40 to draft the guy.
00:25:42 Now there's gonna be a lot of inherent pressure.
00:25:43 Okay, let's see the guy.
00:25:45 It's like, I don't have to tell you guys this,
00:25:47 but when you get a six, nothing lost to the Chargers
00:25:50 and the Brady era is over,
00:25:51 I'm sure the Panthers fans are like,
00:25:52 what the hell is going on here?
00:25:54 We need an injection of youth.
00:25:56 And maybe that goes back to the beginning
00:25:58 of our conversation where I say,
00:26:00 I would have traded back and got a bevy of assets.
00:26:03 While that sounds sexy for the future,
00:26:05 I'm sure the present Patriot fans like,
00:26:06 so Jacoby Brissett's our franchise quarterback.
00:26:09 And I can understand how that would be not revving the engine
00:26:12 like he's there at a pep rally.
00:26:13 We're like, we're gonna win this whole damn division.
00:26:16 We're gonna do stuff.
00:26:17 And I'm sure Patriot fans like, yeah, sure we are.
00:26:20 So, you know, the fact of the matter is
00:26:23 if I was a Patriots, I wouldn't.
00:26:24 And it's not because of,
00:26:26 I've heard some people say about the rawness of Drake, man,
00:26:28 all this stuff.
00:26:29 And sure, there are things that you see and you're like,
00:26:31 yeah, it kind of gave me weird Sam Darnold vibes
00:26:35 a little bit to give kind of a weird example.
00:26:37 They're kind of similar size wise coming out,
00:26:38 but it's about when Sam Darnold came out,
00:26:41 his last 20 starts, he had 20 interceptions
00:26:44 and it wasn't as egregious for Drake.
00:26:46 I think he had 16 interceptions,
00:26:48 but the fact of the matter is a lot of those
00:26:50 were like, oh, like what was happening there?
00:26:53 I saw you breaking down some of the tape.
00:26:54 I can't remember if it was with RG3 or somebody else.
00:26:57 It might've been somebody else,
00:26:58 maybe QB class from Bleach Report or something.
00:27:00 But like, you guys were breaking down some of the takes
00:27:02 and trying to explain some of these like dumb ass decisions.
00:27:05 Excuse my Guatemalan here on the show
00:27:07 with what Drake May was seeing.
00:27:09 And I'm like, what is going on?
00:27:10 It just seems like, I don't know how else to explain it.
00:27:13 Like an iRobot thing where like the robot just for a second,
00:27:17 just kind of, (mimics robot)
00:27:19 And you're like, what the hell was that?
00:27:20 'Cause like you see all this great,
00:27:22 and then to see this, you see the clutch
00:27:24 and then you see this, you're like, what's going on there?
00:27:26 What is it firing?
00:27:28 What are the synapses?
00:27:29 Exactly, right?
00:27:30 So it just seems a little odd there.
00:27:32 So, you know, that part aside
00:27:33 with a little bit of the turnovers, it can only help.
00:27:35 Like, it's not like you're gonna put this bun in the oven
00:27:37 for Drake May and you're gonna give him
00:27:39 too much time on the bench and he's just gonna rot.
00:27:41 It's a bad fruit.
00:27:43 It's gonna rot away over there.
00:27:44 It can only help to be behind.
00:27:46 Like I said, a guy like Jacoby Brissett and to help him out.
00:27:48 But it's more so for me, offensive structure
00:27:52 and kind of this team and the pieces that are around
00:27:54 that that's where I'm like, really,
00:27:56 when I look at this offensive roster
00:27:58 outside of a handful of guys, I'm like, boy,
00:28:00 there's just not a lot there for Drake May
00:28:02 and I'd rather put him in a more ideal circumstance.
00:28:04 Plus Alex Van Pelt, what are we gonna see his offense?
00:28:07 I'm kind of curious the adaptations here in New England,
00:28:10 what that's going to potentially look like for him.
00:28:12 So it's a very long way of answering this question,
00:28:15 but I believe the big red button in the middle of the room,
00:28:18 we all know is gonna be pressed,
00:28:20 whether it's by Kraft or whether it's by Kraft
00:28:24 who pressure of coaching staff to do it.
00:28:26 I think they want to sit him
00:28:27 and they're gonna sit him for the big chunk.
00:28:29 I think right to your NFL conspiracy theory,
00:28:32 twisting your Jack Sparrow beard goatee action
00:28:36 going on there that yes, I think that is a little bit
00:28:39 of the fact that they're gonna get some of those sexy
00:28:41 match-ups on the back end of the schedule.
00:28:43 I believe mid season, pick your dart thrown
00:28:45 and specifically the date.
00:28:47 I do believe they're gonna sit him for the first,
00:28:49 I don't know, half of the season
00:28:50 and then he gets his opportunity out there.
00:28:52 That's still a little early again from the team.
00:28:54 It's not about his rawness,
00:28:55 but it's more so the team that I would wait for.
00:28:58 But I understand in this day and age
00:28:59 that you have to for all these different things.
00:29:02 Although you think with a guy like Jeremy Mayers
00:29:04 in his first year and he was the promised child
00:29:06 that he would have a long runway
00:29:07 that he could do whatever the heck he wants
00:29:09 'cause it's not gonna matter.
00:29:10 But I would sit him for the majority as long as I could.
00:29:14 I think it's probably gonna be about halfway
00:29:15 through the season and to the back end
00:29:17 of your other question, I think that will affect it.
00:29:20 'Cause with rookies, as I saw them,
00:29:22 I don't know if you're a draft day fan,
00:29:24 but he's like you have the head coach
00:29:27 formerly of the Cowboys,
00:29:28 that's the new coach of the Browns.
00:29:30 He's like, "Quarterbacks are dumb.
00:29:31 "They make mistakes.
00:29:32 "They gotta go through stuff."
00:29:34 And then you have the talent that's on the Patriots roster.
00:29:36 I think he's gonna go through some of that.
00:29:37 And there are two ways to respond.
00:29:39 You can let the turnovers freak you out.
00:29:42 That happened to Zach Wilson here in New York.
00:29:44 All the turnovers, you can never get past those demons
00:29:46 and it haunts him forever.
00:29:47 Some see it, short-term memory loss,
00:29:49 and they learn from it.
00:29:50 Peyton Manning, of course, infamously,
00:29:51 led the Laker interceptions his rookie year
00:29:54 and he was able to overcome that, obviously.
00:29:56 But some people aren't able to.
00:29:57 So that would be the only qualm there
00:29:59 is that it might lead to more losses on the column,
00:30:01 but I don't think for Patriots fans
00:30:03 that's the immediate desire for the taste buds
00:30:06 is to get the wins.
00:30:07 I think it's to make sure you guys
00:30:08 got another franchise quarterback.
00:30:10 - For sure.
00:30:11 And I really hope, and I think the Crafts
00:30:12 have been in this business long enough to know,
00:30:14 especially after the whole Bill Parcell situation,
00:30:17 that you can't really get involved prematurely.
00:30:19 Everybody gives some crap for getting involved with Bill,
00:30:21 but it's like, no, that was a situation
00:30:23 that was pretty obviously getting very bad
00:30:25 and they felt they had to step in 'cause they're owners.
00:30:27 You know, we forget sometimes that owners
00:30:29 actually own the team and are responsible for it.
00:30:31 That's how it works.
00:30:32 So you hope they're just gonna let the staff
00:30:34 do their thing in year one.
00:30:35 I really think that it's gonna come down more to practices.
00:30:39 Like, I understand the timeframe and everything,
00:30:41 but I think if Jacoby Percet's playing well,
00:30:43 he could play the entire season.
00:30:45 Like, if they're competitive and this is a team
00:30:46 that's like, you know, we're at 500,
00:30:48 every now and again,
00:30:49 they're kind of poking their head above that.
00:30:50 There's no reason to throw Drake May in there
00:30:52 if Jacoby's doing his job.
00:30:53 Like we saw with the Browns,
00:30:54 where you pull Jacoby when he's doing well,
00:30:56 you put Deshaun Watson in there and it's like,
00:30:58 you had a good thing going and you just messed it up
00:31:01 because you had a premature plan and it didn't work out.
00:31:04 But at the same time, I think if Drake May's in practice
00:31:06 and they're just saying,
00:31:07 "Oof, he looks significantly better than Jacoby.
00:31:11 Like, we're maybe doing the team more harm than good
00:31:14 by having Drake May on the bench."
00:31:16 I think that's when we'll maybe see him start sliding in,
00:31:18 which, you know, unless Jacoby struggles
00:31:20 and then you're like, "All right, this is the time."
00:31:22 I just, I could see it going either way,
00:31:23 but I feel like it's gonna come down more to practices.
00:31:26 The mental toughness you mentioned.
00:31:28 I think Drake May, especially after UNC,
00:31:30 does have enough where the bad habits you're concerned about,
00:31:33 but he's resilient.
00:31:34 Like, this isn't a guy who was throwing bad interceptions
00:31:36 'cause he's trying to force plays.
00:31:38 Sometimes it's just the accuracy got away from him.
00:31:40 I know there's that one against Duke.
00:31:41 It's the one I always think of,
00:31:42 where it looks like he was trying to throw
00:31:44 after he was licking someone off
00:31:46 and it comes out over everyone's head and gets picked off.
00:31:49 And you're just like, that's where,
00:31:50 when people say Zach Willis,
00:31:52 it's like, that's where you're probably getting it from.
00:31:54 Where it's like, I can't even explain this one away,
00:31:56 but I do like that thinking.
00:31:57 And it's probably gonna be towards the later half
00:32:00 of the season, starting like in a Mac Jones situation.
00:32:03 I just think Jacoby's better than what they had
00:32:04 at that point, but very interesting comparisons.
00:32:07 All right, we have more for you.
00:32:08 We're gonna get into some Jets talk, some AFC talk overall,

00:33:13 (upbeat music)
00:33:16 All right, now I'm gonna give you a chance
00:33:19 to talk about your boys, the Jets.
00:33:22 How do you think they did this off season?
00:33:24 I think in the draft, Oluwosinu,
00:33:26 that was one of my guys where I'm like,
00:33:28 "Please, I really don't want them to get a guy
00:33:30 with that much talent."
00:33:31 But I really do love that they seem to get some bookends
00:33:34 in terms of young talent behind some of their guys
00:33:35 who are more injury prone.
00:33:37 But also they got Malachi Corley,
00:33:39 which I think was a great kind of way
00:33:40 to round out their receiving core.
00:33:42 But the receiving core does scare me.
00:33:44 'Cause I feel like Mike Williams is kind of a Jenga piece
00:33:47 where you take him out and then it starts to expose
00:33:50 how they're pretty thin in that receiving core.
00:33:52 So how do you think they did overall?
00:33:54 Also throw in some of the off season moves
00:33:55 if you like as well.
00:33:57 - Yeah, first off, $10 into a thousand, PrizePix.
00:34:00 Okay, baby, I'm ready to retire.
00:34:02 So I'm gonna have to dip my toe into those waters, baby.
00:34:05 I'm ready to go.
00:34:06 - You can go, just use the code.
00:34:08 - Okay, what was that code again?
00:34:09 Say it one more time.
00:34:11 - CLNS for your first deposit match of the $100.
00:34:15 - Oh, look at that.
00:34:16 - Oh yeah, look at that, look at you.
00:34:18 Look at you, #sponsor.
00:34:20 Appreciate the pillars to hoist this show up
00:34:23 with Taylor Kyle's here at the top.
00:34:24 Orchestrated this shit, beautiful.
00:34:27 Yeah, I will say the wide receiving core criticism
00:34:29 is a thousand percent fair.
00:34:30 Garrett Wilson, G-Dub, he's phenomenal.
00:34:33 He's terrific.
00:34:34 And I think a lot of us all have the same take
00:34:37 of like, wow, he's been able to,
00:34:39 he's the first Jets receiver in history,
00:34:40 which is kind of crazy for his first two seasons
00:34:42 to both be over a thousand yards to start his career.
00:34:45 And he's been doing that with a F plus at quarterback,
00:34:49 F minus, let's be fair, F minus at quarterback.
00:34:52 So what can Aaron Rodgers do for him?
00:34:54 So like all that's obvious, but wide receiver too.
00:34:57 Is it Mike Williams?
00:34:58 Who again, I've been really hammering this quote I've heard.
00:35:01 And sometimes we have to take what we hear from coaches
00:35:03 and GMs and media opportunities in a different light.
00:35:07 But I've just kept hearing Robert Salase,
00:35:09 head coach of the New York Jets say, boy,
00:35:11 Mike Williams has a quote unquote,
00:35:12 long way to go from his torn ACL.
00:35:14 He said that back at the annual league meeting
00:35:16 and that keeps giving me the heebie-jeebies like, boy,
00:35:19 I don't think he's going to be ready for camp.
00:35:21 Ah, boy, is he ready for the season?
00:35:22 All of a sudden those questions start to creep.
00:35:24 And when you take that chess piece off the board,
00:35:27 you're like, okay, who's wide receiver two now?
00:35:29 Is it Malachi Corley, the Western Kentucky slot receiver
00:35:32 who says he's more than a slot,
00:35:34 but that's just how Western Kentucky used him?
00:35:36 That seems questionable, especially Sal,
00:35:38 another quote said the raw route runner, like boy,
00:35:40 how that jiving with Aaron Rodgers
00:35:43 will be very interesting,
00:35:44 despite the fact he's apparently staying at his guest house.
00:35:46 But you have that piece of the puzzle.
00:35:48 Al Lazard, where does he stand in all of this?
00:35:50 I mean, he was so bad last year.
00:35:52 Patriot fans are like, oh yeah, tell me more.
00:35:54 Popcorn in mouth, popcorn in mouth.
00:35:56 That Al Lazard for $44 million was so bad
00:36:00 at the end of the season that he was a healthy scratch
00:36:03 on multiple occasions.
00:36:04 Robert Salase, who never calls out players publicly,
00:36:06 that's not his MO.
00:36:07 He doesn't like yelling at players on the sideline,
00:36:09 none of that.
00:36:09 After the Black Friday Jets-Dolphins game,
00:36:12 he came up to the podium and questioned
00:36:14 whether or not Al Lazard still had the edge publicly
00:36:17 and whether he could reclaim it.
00:36:18 And a lot of us went, zoinks, what did you just say?
00:36:21 And then he tried to walk back some of the comments,
00:36:23 but once that genie was out of the bottle,
00:36:25 there's no real way of getting back in there.
00:36:27 And then Lazard had a lot of deflecting
00:36:29 when asked about, oh man, the season's gone really crappy.
00:36:32 How much blame do you take for it?
00:36:35 He gave a Zach Wilson-esque Patriots answer of like,
00:36:37 eh, I don't know, quarterback plays kind of sucked.
00:36:40 And so he's had drops and all kinds of things.
00:36:43 So like Al Lazard, where the hell does he stand?
00:36:44 Like inevitably he has to be better
00:36:46 'cause he can't be worse than he was last year
00:36:48 from a wide receiving core perspective.
00:36:50 So yeah, the receiving core on the surface,
00:36:53 it's like the Pillsbury Doughboy
00:36:54 with a little puffed out chest,
00:36:55 it's kind of walking around like, look at me.
00:36:57 And then you just poke that Pillsbury Doughboy
00:36:59 in the belly button, you get a poo-poo-poo.
00:37:00 All the air comes out of that thing.
00:37:02 And I'll say like, yeah, that's not as great
00:37:04 as it looked on paper.
00:37:05 So a hundred percent, the wide receiving core
00:37:07 lacks a little bit of chutzpah.
00:37:08 Maybe they can add another veteran before,
00:37:10 although the receivers have been flying off the board
00:37:13 from OBJ to Miami to Chark
00:37:15 and all these other random veterans
00:37:17 have been flying off the board.
00:37:18 MVS goes to Buffalo.
00:37:20 I'm kind of curious if there's any names left
00:37:22 potentially in the pool for the Jets to dip their toes in.
00:37:25 So wide receiver still seems like a potential indeed.
00:37:28 If everything works out,
00:37:29 I don't think it's the need that people think it is,
00:37:31 but that's kind of a leap of faith.
00:37:32 It'll be curious to see if the Jets do.
00:37:34 In terms of kind of grading the off season,
00:37:36 you know, this may sound like a Homer pick
00:37:38 coming from Jets guy, but it's just A-plus
00:37:41 because the Jets literally checked off
00:37:42 everything off the bucket list.
00:37:44 You could have, again, had some qualms about wide receiver,
00:37:46 a different wide receiver in there besides Mike Williams,
00:37:49 although he's super talented when he's on the field,
00:37:51 you obviously understand the fit.
00:37:53 But I'll be honest, when the Jets cut my boy,
00:37:56 Lakin Tomlinson, who I love
00:37:58 and I've had them on my show a lot.
00:38:00 Lakin's A-plus human, and I understand how things
00:38:03 didn't work out with the Jets on the field.
00:38:05 When the Jets cut him, I'm like, damn,
00:38:07 you're entering the off season with three starting holes
00:38:09 on the offensive line to fill.
00:38:11 Joe Douglas hasn't been able to fill that in five years.
00:38:14 Now all of a sudden you're gonna wave the magic wand,
00:38:16 he's gonna be able to fill that in a singular off season.
00:38:19 So I had questions, but credit to Joe Douglas
00:38:21 for the creativity.
00:38:22 You'll learn Tyron Smith here,
00:38:23 one of my favorite players in the NFL,
00:38:24 future pro football Hall of Famer, I love Tyron Smith.
00:38:27 Plug and play left tackle.
00:38:28 John Simpson, underrated guard who kind of had his shot
00:38:31 after getting drafted by the Raiders
00:38:32 and then falling on hard times, getting dumped,
00:38:34 going to the Ravens, who are a world-class organization,
00:38:37 spin them all around.
00:38:38 He ends up playing all 19 games for the Ravens last year.
00:38:40 Underrated guy, get him for relatively cheap money,
00:38:43 he plugs in.
00:38:43 Then he trade for Morgan Moses,
00:38:44 just raid the Ravens' pantries for the offensive line,
00:38:48 get him in there.
00:38:49 So I love the offensive line, starting unit,
00:38:50 kind of similar to wide receiver.
00:38:52 If it works out, your offensive line
00:38:54 is in really great shape.
00:38:55 So you fill the offensive line holes.
00:38:57 The other trade I have to do was the old swap-a-roonie,
00:39:00 Bryce Huff, who was this young, budding pass rusher
00:39:04 coming off a double-digit sack year.
00:39:06 And you're curious, why were the Jets
00:39:07 not more aggressive in retaining him?
00:39:09 If I was the Eagles, I may have thought twice about that,
00:39:12 just for that reason.
00:39:13 Why are the Jets just letting this guy go?
00:39:14 Do they know something we don't?
00:39:16 And the Jets ended up flipping him out,
00:39:17 ironically enough, to the Eagles
00:39:19 to get Hassan Redick in here, who, again,
00:39:21 50 and a half sacks over the last four years,
00:39:23 that's fourth best in the National Football League.
00:39:25 He's been an absolute beast.
00:39:26 And you put him in this game with the other players around,
00:39:29 Quinan Williams, Jermaine Johnson,
00:39:31 and some of these talented guys.
00:39:32 I'm curious to see if there's another level, potentially,
00:39:35 to Hassan Redick.
00:39:36 So that one, on defense, you swap out Huff for Redick.
00:39:38 Redick's a better player right now.
00:39:39 Maybe Huff will be a better player over the course
00:39:41 of a five-year span.
00:39:42 That one's interesting.
00:39:43 And then the other big one was Tyrod Taylor.
00:39:45 And people could say what they want about Tyrod,
00:39:47 but in the same way that I kind of heralded,
00:39:49 you know, I heralded Jacoby Brissett
00:39:53 for being this pros-pro veteran,
00:39:55 I think Tyrod Taylor's the same way.
00:39:57 We both had RG3 on our show,
00:39:59 and RG3 on my program was just singing
00:40:02 the sweet praise of Tyrod on the high floor
00:40:04 and going through the battles
00:40:05 and everything he's been through.
00:40:07 And I don't need to say this,
00:40:08 but it's a dramatic improvement over Tim Boyle,
00:40:11 Zach Wilson, and every godforsaken excuse,
00:40:15 Trevor Simeon that had to play
00:40:16 quarterback for the Jets last year.
00:40:18 - That incinerated name here.
00:40:20 - Heep-boop-bop, yeah, computer, give me something.
00:40:23 Give me something.
00:40:24 Ah, good, yeah.
00:40:24 So like, you know, Tyrod Taylor's just a massive improvement.
00:40:27 So if Rodgers was to go down, and here's the thing,
00:40:30 not every injury is season-ending.
00:40:32 So yeah, sure, if Rodgers went down for the season,
00:40:34 you'd change your entire perception of the Jets,
00:40:35 but you'd do that for any team,
00:40:36 Bills, Chiefs, you name it.
00:40:38 But it's the key for me in Tyrod
00:40:40 is if Aaron Rodgers misses a handful of games,
00:40:42 can Tyrod keep the boat afloat during that stretch?
00:40:45 That's the big thing for me
00:40:47 from the Tyrod Taylor perspective,
00:40:48 which makes me feel great about it.
00:40:49 So the off-season was an A-plus
00:40:52 'cause they filled everything.
00:40:52 I wasn't sure they were going to be able to.
00:40:54 At the beginning, but they were able to fill everything.
00:40:57 And there may still be a late Joe Douglas veteran move.
00:41:00 He has a long history of adding veterans
00:41:03 in the summer months.
00:41:04 Morgan Moses, the first time around
00:41:05 when he got dumped from Washington.
00:41:07 Dalvin Cook, that one didn't work out,
00:41:09 but there's been ones that have worked out
00:41:10 and ones that haven't been.
00:41:12 Dwayne Brown is another one.
00:41:13 That one worked out in the initial for the New York Jets,
00:41:16 but then kind of fell off a cliff with age and injuries.
00:41:18 So he is a kind of an affinity
00:41:21 for adding veterans late in the process.
00:41:23 So there may be more to the puzzle here,
00:41:25 but the most important thing was adding insurance
00:41:27 to a lot of key positions.
00:41:28 And I believe the Jets did that at every premium,
00:41:30 including Olu Fashinu,
00:41:32 who was one of my favorite players in this class,
00:41:34 A-plus past protector,
00:41:36 A-plus human being from everything I've heard.
00:41:38 Like Fashinu, having that break the glass,
00:41:40 number 11th overall pick as your quote unquote swing tackle,
00:41:43 not a bad place to be.
00:41:45 - Actually, that leads me perfectly into my question.
00:41:47 So Tyron Smith, as long as he's healthy,
00:41:49 he's holding down the tackle spot.
00:41:51 There's no question about that.
00:41:52 Probably not trying to move a guy
00:41:53 who's been on that side for so long,
00:41:55 probably in his last season.
00:41:57 But at the same time, you want Olu to play.
00:41:59 He's a blue chip prospect.
00:42:00 He's a guy you can plug him in,
00:42:01 and he's going to be probably a plus starter
00:42:03 for you immediately.
00:42:04 But of course, Morgan Moses is also a veteran,
00:42:07 a lot of experience, knows the system and all these things.
00:42:09 So how is that tackle situation gonna work out?
00:42:12 Is Olu maybe gonna try out at right tackle?
00:42:14 Do you wanna kind of have him stay on that left tackle track
00:42:17 so he doesn't have too much information to process?
00:42:19 Like how does that work out?
00:42:20 'Cause you'd like to see him on the field.
00:42:22 - Of course, as you would any pick,
00:42:24 although the Jets have had a weird history here
00:42:26 of Will McDonald playing the lowest amount of snaps
00:42:29 for a Jets first rounder since Vernon Golston,
00:42:30 which was dating ourselves way back there in 2008.
00:42:34 So, you know, he didn't play a lot.
00:42:36 And then you have Fashnu, who projected on paper right now,
00:42:39 is not expected to play a lot,
00:42:40 which has angered a lot of Jets fans on social media.
00:42:43 'Cause, you know, that's a really arrogant thing to do,
00:42:45 to use your first round pick on a quote unquote luxury,
00:42:48 something that's not helping you immediately.
00:42:50 Like that seems like a really arrogant thing on paper to do.
00:42:53 There's been a lot of rumors about him kicking to guard
00:42:56 because the two, if you were going to perceive spots
00:43:00 where he could fill on the line,
00:43:01 it would make sense at left guard,
00:43:03 which is where John Simpson currently,
00:43:04 the former Raven, is currently pegged.
00:43:06 Morgan Moses, who's at right tackle, currently pegged.
00:43:09 He played 14 games last year,
00:43:11 had a torn pec he played through.
00:43:13 So that's another position where maybe Olu could beat him
00:43:15 out straight up one of those two spots.
00:43:17 The others, he's not playing center, obviously.
00:43:19 Left tackle has Tyron Smith,
00:43:20 one of the best left tackles to ever do it.
00:43:22 So when you try to perceive how to get him on the field,
00:43:24 there's been a lot of those rumors,
00:43:25 but it seems like Joe Douglas
00:43:27 was pretty clear at his press conference
00:43:28 that he wants to keep him exclusively at left tackle.
00:43:31 Now the Jets said that about ABT
00:43:33 and he's played every position besides center.
00:43:34 So, you know, we can only take what we can from people
00:43:37 and what they say.
00:43:38 But my gut tells me that Olu Fashionu
00:43:40 will be Tyron Smith insurance.
00:43:42 He's averaged 13 starts throughout his career.
00:43:44 I know in two of the last four years,
00:43:46 he's missed significant time,
00:43:47 but the average of his career has been 13 starts.
00:43:50 And so for that perspective,
00:43:53 Olu is going to get on the field.
00:43:54 For eight straight years, Tyron Smith has missed at least,
00:43:57 I think it's three games.
00:43:58 For eight straight years, three missed games,
00:44:00 at least if not more in those scenarios.
00:44:02 So Fashionu is going to play,
00:44:04 but I think they don't want to play that shuffling game
00:44:06 that they did last time where this player goes out,
00:44:09 okay, ABT to left, this guy to right,
00:44:11 and then do all this crazy musical chairs.
00:44:13 I think out of gut,
00:44:15 they're going to play Fashionu behind Tyron.
00:44:17 And it's kind of the wink, wink understanding
00:44:19 that Tyron is unlikely to play all 17.
00:44:22 Maybe he will, maybe he'll surprise us all somehow,
00:44:24 but that seems unlikely.
00:44:26 And Fashionu will get on the field in that way.
00:44:28 Now, Fashionu seems to be taking it like a champ
00:44:30 because apparently when he was growing up,
00:44:32 Tyron Smith is the player that he loves.
00:44:34 So it's kind of weird how all this stuff kind of lined up
00:44:36 with him being able to learn from him now.
00:44:39 But yeah, I think Fashionu is taking it well.
00:44:41 I think it's all kind of set up there
00:44:42 that he's going to play in that respect.
00:44:44 But to your point, it is kind of crazy that player
00:44:47 who apparently you love as much as I do in Fashionu,
00:44:50 it seems kind of crazy to think
00:44:52 that he's not going to get the necessary PT.
00:44:54 The only good news is, is because Tyron is older
00:44:57 and because he has his own workout plan
00:44:59 where he doesn't play a lot of practice,
00:45:01 Olufasio is going to be the starting left tackle
00:45:03 for the Jets from here on May 16th through a big part of July.
00:45:08 So he's going to get a ton of reps.
00:45:09 So he should get a lot of that experience
00:45:11 in getting himself ready to play football.
00:45:13 - One more, so we can kind of wrap this up.
00:45:15 I'm curious what you think about weak spots for the Jets,
00:45:18 because if they're healthy,
00:45:19 frankly, I don't really see any glaring holes.
00:45:22 Like tight end, you could be better,
00:45:24 but that's not really the kind of position
00:45:25 where you need really good players
00:45:27 and the defense obviously stacked.
00:45:29 So if you're game planning against the Jets
00:45:32 and you're like, all right,
00:45:32 we got to make sure we attack this position,
00:45:35 this player, et cetera, who would that be?
00:45:37 'Cause I had a very hard time finding it.
00:45:39 Again, if this team is at full strength.
00:45:42 - Yeah, again, to your point,
00:45:43 I think you can nitpick a couple of positions
00:45:45 where you're like, ah, tight end,
00:45:46 could they have been better?
00:45:47 Sure, they're probably like average
00:45:49 to below average at tight end.
00:45:50 You know, Tyler Conklin's a solid guy.
00:45:52 Again, another, I've had him on my show a lot of times.
00:45:54 He's a good dude,
00:45:55 but the rest of the room is a total question mark.
00:45:57 And to be honest, even Conklin, who I like,
00:45:59 had zero touchdowns last year,
00:46:01 which is something, like I said,
00:46:02 the Patriots offense is quite familiar with
00:46:04 as someone who didn't spoil a lot of touchdowns.
00:46:07 But any who, that's neither here nor there.
00:46:08 So you have tight end.
00:46:09 You could nitpick a little bit at safety as well,
00:46:11 'cause you have a guy like Tony Adams
00:46:12 who the coaching staff frigging loves.
00:46:14 I mean, he's a former UDFA that just seized a starting role
00:46:18 and he got the veteran treatment last year
00:46:19 of sitting out a bunch of preseason games.
00:46:22 Like he just rose out of nowhere.
00:46:23 And I'm curious, like Chuck Clark,
00:46:25 they brought back, he tours ACL.
00:46:27 He was supposed to be a big part of that secondary.
00:46:29 He comes back on a dirt cheap deal.
00:46:30 He's a dart thrower.
00:46:31 I love Ashton Davis.
00:46:32 I loved him coming out of Cal a bunch of years ago.
00:46:35 He's there in that safety room as another guy.
00:46:37 Jalen Key, Mr. Irrelevant.
00:46:39 Does he have, you know,
00:46:40 the key to kind of working his way
00:46:42 into that starting lineup potentially?
00:46:44 So if I'm a defense or a team
00:46:47 that's a game plan against the Jets,
00:46:48 it's those safety shots,
00:46:50 which are gonna be unique 'cause of the top three corners.
00:46:52 The Jets may have the best three corners in football
00:46:54 with D.J. Reid, Sass Gardner, and Michael Carter II.
00:46:57 So you're gonna have to get some unique leverages
00:46:59 to make sure you kind of get,
00:47:01 whether maybe it's a unique tight end prospect
00:47:03 where that's playing on some linebacker safety combinations.
00:47:06 Because every once in a while,
00:47:07 that's what happened on one of the Stefan Diggs crazy plays.
00:47:10 It was a Jets-Bills game.
00:47:12 I can't remember if it was the,
00:47:13 I think it was the second game in which they played.
00:47:15 They got a 50-yard bomb
00:47:16 like Stefan Diggs right off the get-go.
00:47:18 And they caught Sass in his zone right behind,
00:47:21 you had a safety back there.
00:47:22 And I can't remember who the safety was,
00:47:24 but they caught him with their pants down and got him.
00:47:27 And that's a little bit
00:47:28 where you can kind of challenge the Jets.
00:47:29 And if I'm another team, like the 49ers,
00:47:32 let's say week one who played the Jets,
00:47:34 like, okay, these offensive tackles on paper are pretty good.
00:47:36 Tyron Smith is a pro football hall of famer.
00:47:38 Morgan Moses isn't that,
00:47:39 but he's just a steady Eddie veteran
00:47:41 who's been very solid throughout his career.
00:47:43 I'm testing the tackles.
00:47:44 A pair of 33-year-olds, let's go.
00:47:47 Let's get them on the perimeter.
00:47:48 Rodgers coming off a torn Achilles.
00:47:50 How much evasion can he do?
00:47:53 His former backup quarterback, Ben Kurt,
00:47:55 doesn't think it's going to be a lot
00:47:56 because he just has to kind of, in Kurt's words,
00:47:59 avoid the first guy and then he's good.
00:48:01 But I am kind of curious because those are the challenges.
00:48:03 On paper, you're right that it's the Madden roster.
00:48:06 It's the winning the offseason roster,
00:48:08 all these different things that positions look sexy.
00:48:10 But again, that Pillsbury dough boy,
00:48:12 if you could poke the belly button just right,
00:48:14 all that air is coming out of the balloon.
00:48:16 So I think testing offensive tackle
00:48:18 with a blitz pressures is going to be important too.
00:48:21 The Jets did try to invest at running back,
00:48:23 Braylon Allen and Isaiah Davis in the draft,
00:48:25 South Dakota State and Wisconsin respectively.
00:48:28 Good pass protectors, more max protects might be coming
00:48:31 for Rodgers to protect him early.
00:48:32 Might be some conservative game plans
00:48:34 as a kind of cook and work their way through things.
00:48:36 But that would be attacking the Jets
00:48:38 is testing really how good are these offensive tackles?
00:48:41 Are they all there lived up to be?
00:48:42 And maybe getting some select shots at safety
00:48:45 because besides that, the Jets have all pros
00:48:48 at every level of the defense.
00:48:49 Conan Williams is a former all pro.
00:48:51 CJ Mosley and Quincy Williams were coming off
00:48:54 all pro seasons this year and the year before.
00:48:56 Plus you have Saskardner's a two time first team all pro
00:48:59 in his first two years.
00:48:59 So you have all pros at every level of the defense,
00:49:01 but it is that safety that you can challenge
00:49:03 and get them going a little bit.
00:49:05 And I would also say on the offensive side of the ball,
00:49:08 it's that blitzkrieg mentality,
00:49:09 testing out those tackles very early.
00:49:11 That's gonna be another important one.
00:49:13 - You mentioned the safeties last year.
00:49:15 That was my thing as well.
00:49:16 It's like, you're not really trying to throw
00:49:18 at the secondary very often, but if you are,
00:49:20 it's probably gonna be in the middle,
00:49:21 especially with all those quarters where you can kind of
00:49:23 exploit those guys.
00:49:24 And then when it comes to the blitz,
00:49:26 Patriots are already one of the most blitz heavy teams
00:49:27 last year.
00:49:28 I know there's probably gonna be more of an emphasis
00:49:30 on that this year.
00:49:31 And it sounded like Josh Uche, who was fantastic in 2022,
00:49:34 took a step back last season,
00:49:36 but it seemed like a lot of that was his role.
00:49:37 And we spoke to him and he did say that he thinks this scheme
00:49:40 is gonna better suit his skillsets.
00:49:41 So that's gonna be an interesting one to watch.
00:49:43 - Yeah, I just gotta say,
00:49:44 I don't know how you convince Josh Uche
00:49:46 to sign for a half eaten Snickers bar out there
00:49:48 with what all pass rushers are getting
00:49:50 from a money perspective.
00:49:51 When I saw that deal, I almost spit out my drink.
00:49:53 I'm like, what the heck?
00:49:54 Because I thought he was a guy who was gonna slip out
00:49:56 ton of talent there.
00:49:57 And that's another find by the New England Patriots.
00:49:59 That's not a first round pick.
00:50:00 That's a guy that has worked into the scheme very nicely.
00:50:04 So Josh Uche is a player I like a lot.
00:50:06 Have no idea what kind of Jedi mind trick you guys did
00:50:08 on Uche is signed for no nothing on a one year deal.
00:50:12 Very nice, good value there for the New England Patriots.
00:50:15 - Yeah, the Gerard Mayo effect kicking in early
00:50:17 with Simmons to Marcus Covington.
00:50:18 Like Josh Uche talked about how they basically helped
00:50:20 raise him in the NFL.
00:50:21 They know him better than anybody else.
00:50:23 And I think he really appreciates that loyalty
00:50:25 in the relationships and especially seeing
00:50:27 what the Patriots have done this off season
00:50:28 with retaining so many veterans.
00:50:30 I think he kind of pushed home.
00:50:31 Like if you do play well, we'll reward you.
00:50:33 You don't have to go like change your whole lifestyle.
00:50:36 Something we don't really think about.
00:50:37 I think, you know, when someone throws a bag at you,
00:50:39 it's one thing.
00:50:40 And I think he was getting decent money,
00:50:41 but he can come out well on a prove it deal.
00:50:43 They're gonna pay him probably whatever the market says
00:50:45 he's worth, he's a good pass rusher.
00:50:46 So I think part of that played into it as well.
00:50:49 - And also ballsy, I just gotta say like a Mike Onwenu
00:50:51 for instance, you let him hit free and say,
00:50:53 I'm like, oh, he's gone.
00:50:54 If you're letting these players hit the open market,
00:50:56 like the money's gonna get crazy,
00:50:57 especially on the offensive line.
00:50:59 And some of these moves of the Patriots
00:51:01 allowing their players to test water,
00:51:02 that's the ballsiest thing in the world.
00:51:04 If me and you were dating Taylor
00:51:06 and I give you a hall pass,
00:51:06 you start swimming out in the water.
00:51:08 So I'm like, oh boy, there's a lot of attractive people
00:51:11 out there, he might not be coming back.
00:51:12 You know what I'm saying?
00:51:13 So the same thing for Onwenu, he hits the open market
00:51:15 and the fact that he, you let him test out love out there.
00:51:19 And that, you know, you get that knock at midnight,
00:51:21 like, oh, Onwenu, you're back.
00:51:22 Here's the deal, brother, slide it over.
00:51:25 So again, I've been very impressed by a lot of,
00:51:27 I know they didn't swing on everything,
00:51:28 Calvin Ridley going after that and stuff,
00:51:30 but a lot of the moves they did get,
00:51:32 I was just, I was impressed with.
00:51:35 - I don't know if you've seen the ultimatum,
00:51:36 but based on that description,
00:51:37 I think you'd really like it.
00:51:38 It's literally a show where couples are like,
00:51:40 you're not giving me what I want, we're gonna explore.
00:51:42 And it just always ends in the most cringe ways.
00:51:45 So I'm gonna recommend that for you,
00:51:46 'cause that's basically what you just described.
00:51:48 All right, we're gonna open the scope
00:51:49 to the whole AFC East,
00:51:50 but first quick word from our friends at game time.
00:51:52 Be right back.

00:53:06 - Wow, a panoramic view of my seats,
00:53:10 $20 off the first purchase.
00:53:12 Oh, wow, okay, all right, Game Time.
00:53:14 - It's a fun app.
00:53:16 I mean, that sounds, I literally sound like an advertisement
00:53:18 like, oh, this is such a fun app, but really it is.
00:53:20 And I genuinely love Game Time, it is very cool.
00:53:23 All right, now let's move on to the division.
00:53:25 Who do you think are the most and least improved teams
00:53:28 in the AFC East after the draft,
00:53:30 now that we see what the rosters are likely gonna look like
00:53:32 heading into the season?
00:53:34 - Boy, how can you be not impressed?
00:53:37 Or no, no, let me rephrase that.
00:53:39 How can you be any less impressed
00:53:42 with what happened with the Miami Dolphins?
00:53:44 I mean, to lose Christian Wilkins for nothing,
00:53:47 to not have the foresight on that.
00:53:49 Robert Hunt gets a crazy deal in free and see,
00:53:52 you cut X, who I love, Xavier Howard.
00:53:54 And then all these other veterans I have on this list,
00:53:56 Jerome Baker, Andrew Van Ginkle, Brandon Jones,
00:53:58 Emmanuel Ogba, Raekwon Davis, Deshaun Elliott.
00:54:02 I mean, the defensive room is just no nothing.
00:54:04 And the vibe that you saw with the Vic Van Gio rub
00:54:07 on some of the players on the team, there was just, wow,
00:54:10 there was something weird going on there.
00:54:11 So I give a default to Mike McDaniel.
00:54:14 He's an offensive wizard, he's a quirky, weird bastard.
00:54:16 He's gonna figure it out on offense.
00:54:18 But the defensive questions I have are vast.
00:54:21 I have a lot of questions
00:54:23 about this Miami Dolphins defense.
00:54:25 And even, again, I give the benefit of the doubt
00:54:27 to Mike McDaniel.
00:54:28 You go on offense, okay, Tua stayed healthy
00:54:30 for all 17 games last year, very impressive.
00:54:32 But when you look at his career,
00:54:34 that looks like an outlier,
00:54:35 more so than a sign of things to come.
00:54:37 And he's about to get the bag on some crazy ass contract.
00:54:39 I don't know, I'd be a little trepidatious myself
00:54:42 with that from Tua.
00:54:43 Again, shown healthy, and I have to, you know,
00:54:45 I thought what I thought was gonna happen in college
00:54:47 to what he's been has been super impressive.
00:54:49 So tip of the cap to what Tua has been able to pump out.
00:54:52 But in terms of staying healthy,
00:54:53 I question whether or not that will be the case.
00:54:55 And if he's not in there, is Mike White the savior?
00:54:58 Let me give you a spoiler alert once again,
00:55:00 for the Jets, he's not.
00:55:01 So the fact of the matter is the Dolphins,
00:55:03 I couldn't be any less impressed
00:55:06 with what they're able to accomplish.
00:55:07 They still have Tyreek Hale and Jaylon Waddle
00:55:09 and a lot of talented players.
00:55:10 Plus the Jaylon Wright thing was super creative
00:55:12 of using future draft capital to get back in
00:55:15 and add that to the room of guys already
00:55:17 like Raheem Mostard.
00:55:18 I think that one's gonna be intriguing,
00:55:19 but overall the team, I'm gonna be honest,
00:55:22 I am less than impressed with Miami.
00:55:25 And there's a lot of people on the Miami train
00:55:27 and that one confuses me a little bit.
00:55:29 - So I'm curious about that one,
00:55:30 'cause I understand that and like the Wilkins,
00:55:33 I feel like that's gonna be one of those
00:55:35 where you don't really see the impact of losing him.
00:55:37 Like it's obvious, but I think they did add
00:55:39 some interesting pieces.
00:55:40 Like the way that Kyle Krabs put it was
00:55:42 they took the money from what they were gonna give
00:55:44 to Wilkins and disperse it around the defense.
00:55:46 So like you get Shaq Barrett who compared,
00:55:49 when you combine him with Chop Robinson and with Mo Kamara,
00:55:52 I kind of like that as an Andrew Van Ginkle replacement,
00:55:54 obviously coming off a career season,
00:55:56 but he wasn't like a premier edge.
00:55:58 He was a guy who was very smart, productive and versatile,
00:56:01 but I think Shaq Barrett gives you enough
00:56:03 that you can let those younger guys develop
00:56:05 and see what they are.
00:56:06 Then I really like Jordan Brooks.
00:56:08 I think that's a significant upgrade over Jerome Baker
00:56:11 and kind of offset some of what you lose
00:56:13 in Christian Wilkins.
00:56:14 I also love Zach Seeler.
00:56:15 I think maybe he takes a step forward
00:56:17 and even if he doesn't,
00:56:18 I think he's gonna be a productive player.
00:56:20 So I think that kind of reduces some of the damage,
00:56:22 no replacing Wilkins, of course.
00:56:24 And then I also love Kendall Fuller over X.
00:56:27 I do like X, but in terms of versatility and consistency,
00:56:30 they're not hallmarks of his game right now,
00:56:32 unless he's playing the Patriots, of course.
00:56:34 So I too like Kendall Fuller,
00:56:36 a guy who now you can move Jaylon Ramsey wherever you want.
00:56:39 You can play whatever you want.
00:56:40 You don't have to worry about sometimes
00:56:42 it's gonna go over his head.
00:56:43 You don't know what you're gonna get.
00:56:44 Fuller's very consistent.
00:56:46 So I like how they kind of money balled the defense
00:56:48 a little bit where, yeah, you lose Wilkins,
00:56:50 but you do upgrade elsewhere.
00:56:51 And then for the offense, again,
00:56:53 Robert Hunt is a significant loss.
00:56:55 Isaiah Wynn, I do like him at guard.
00:56:57 He played really well against the Pats,
00:56:59 but injury is always gonna be an issue with him.
00:57:01 So the interior of that offensive line is definitely shaky,
00:57:04 especially for a guy like Tua.
00:57:05 But then you add OBJ and Janu
00:57:07 as guys who are gonna be third, fourth, fifth options.
00:57:10 That, and then again, Jaylon Wright
00:57:12 is like the cherry on top,
00:57:13 where it's a backfield where guys get injured all the time.
00:57:15 You get somebody else who's a big play threat,
00:57:18 who's a really good young player.
00:57:19 And again, OBJ and Janu,
00:57:21 like Janu just throw to him underneath,
00:57:22 hit him up the seam a couple of times.
00:57:24 Those are big plays that you're not really expecting to get
00:57:27 considering for so long,
00:57:29 it's just been Tyreek, Jaylon Waddell, the running backs,
00:57:32 but then nobody else really contributing.
00:57:33 So do the additions that they made in other places
00:57:36 make you feel a little bit better?
00:57:38 I don't wanna dissuade you out of your opinion,
00:57:39 but I just feel like they've done better
00:57:42 than they tend to get credit for.
00:57:43 Although again, I acknowledge the losses they had
00:57:45 in the trenches were very significant
00:57:47 and could come back to bite them.
00:57:49 - Yeah, I appreciate you trying to push back
00:57:51 on my opinion, you bastard.
00:57:52 But no, I will say a couple of things that I do love
00:57:56 is for instance, let's go Mo Kamara.
00:57:59 How in the hell did he fall into the Dolphins' hands?
00:58:01 I have no idea.
00:58:02 When you look at that 10 yard split,
00:58:04 that burst off the edge, when you look at his 40 or,
00:58:06 I don't know, it seemed like a just part,
00:58:08 they were someone that were honing in all over him,
00:58:10 but obviously they had multiple opportunities
00:58:12 and they did not dip their toe in those waters.
00:58:14 So I'm curious, I know he's an older prospect and everything,
00:58:16 but what are we talking about, a day three pick?
00:58:18 So I think that's a steal for the Dolphins.
00:58:20 So I love Kamara.
00:58:21 And then on Shaq Barrett, he revealed on CBS Sports Radio,
00:58:24 the Jets pursued him and he said,
00:58:25 "No, thanks, I'm going to the Dolphins."
00:58:26 So that's another one of those interdivisional things
00:58:29 where they skip out on an opportunity to go the other way.
00:58:32 So the Jets swim in a lot of waters this off season,
00:58:35 going after guys like Jadavia and Clowney,
00:58:37 going after guys like Shaq Barrett.
00:58:38 Ultimately they land on Hassan Redick,
00:58:40 who I think is a higher production than all those guys,
00:58:42 but it is kind of curious,
00:58:44 some of those additions that they made.
00:58:45 And I do love John O. Smith.
00:58:47 It's just been a weird career,
00:58:49 and especially New England Patriots, right?
00:58:51 You guys give them the four year 50 million,
00:58:53 and then it just doesn't equate.
00:58:54 He goes to the Falcons and you're like,
00:58:55 "Ah, he's kind of buried behind Kyle Pitts and everybody."
00:58:58 And then you see all these big splash players.
00:58:59 I had him on fantasy for a lot of my season,
00:59:01 championship season last year.
00:59:03 By the way, do you have any?
00:59:05 - Yes, I do.
00:59:06 - Championship ring, you get that MVP there.
00:59:08 - Ooh, that's pretty.
00:59:10 - Nice, yeah, very nice.
00:59:11 - Oh, that's nice.
00:59:12 - We don't play around over here.
00:59:13 We don't play around over here.
00:59:14 So thank you, John O. Smith,
00:59:16 for your contributions randomly to my fantasy team.
00:59:18 And I'll be honest, OBJ,
00:59:19 I know a lot of people like to make fun of him.
00:59:21 I've been the biggest OBJ fan forever.
00:59:23 I wanted the Jets to trade up in that draft form.
00:59:26 They had 12 draft picks.
00:59:27 They did not, thanks, John Edzik, you bastard.
00:59:29 Anywho, I digress.
00:59:31 The fact of the matter is OBJ is going to be what?
00:59:32 Wide receiver three, wide receiver four,
00:59:35 however you interpret that for the Dolphins offense.
00:59:37 So I love that for Miami, to be honest with you.
00:59:39 That's one that's not getting enough love.
00:59:41 Everyone says, "Oh, he's washed."
00:59:42 He signed for like nothing, relatively speaking,
00:59:45 especially compared to last year
00:59:46 with what the Ravens got him.
00:59:47 So I do like that.
00:59:48 But again, Christian Wilkins,
00:59:50 I just feel like you're disrespecting him, Taylor.
00:59:53 I'm just going to be honest,
00:59:54 that you could replace him with three or four pieces.
00:59:56 Christian, who, I mean,
00:59:58 you're just throwing all this stuff around.
00:59:59 It's just disgusting, quite frankly.
01:00:00 - It's the Bella checking in me where I'm saying,
01:00:03 you get rid of a guy a year early rather than a year late.
01:00:05 I think that's the thinking for me to be totally fair,
01:00:08 but I don't want to disrespect the guy.
01:00:10 Amazing personality, first of all.
01:00:12 Actually kind of reminds me of you,
01:00:13 just a guy I could watch for hours
01:00:15 and I will be endlessly entertained,
01:00:16 but also obviously a dominant football player.
01:00:18 So again, I completely respect the opinion.
01:00:20 I don't think you're wrong,
01:00:21 but there's kind of interesting shades to it
01:00:23 where I could see both sides of the argument,
01:00:25 but I'm not going to argue that the guys they lost
01:00:27 on the interior are not significant.
01:00:29 - Yeah, and we'll see.
01:00:30 He's going to be so fun with Max Crosby
01:00:32 over there in Vegas.
01:00:33 But the other thing that kind of affects my mentality too
01:00:35 when I was talking about this defense,
01:00:36 two things I didn't mention is,
01:00:38 and it's terribly unfortunate, I wish it didn't happen.
01:00:40 Bradley Chubb and Jalen Phillips go down
01:00:43 with season ending injury super late.
01:00:45 You're like, oh boy, where are these guys coming
01:00:47 into the fold in terms of recovery?
01:00:48 I'm not a doctor.
01:00:50 I just play one sometimes on the radio.
01:00:51 So I've got no freaking clue,
01:00:53 but my guess would be that they would not be ready early
01:00:55 in the season.
01:00:56 And then what does that happen?
01:00:57 Now, Jalen Ramsey is a good example.
01:00:59 He's a guy that gets injured
01:01:00 and then ends up coming on the back half of the season
01:01:02 and showing exactly the star player he is.
01:01:03 So it's not impossible for these guys
01:01:06 to fill some of those roles,
01:01:07 but that'll be a little bit curious to me
01:01:09 from that perspective on Miami and then Buffalo.
01:01:11 Obviously they blew up their whole team
01:01:13 and what Buffalo is betting on is can we draft a bunch
01:01:17 of young guys and bring them in
01:01:19 and they replace the veteran big names?
01:01:21 Now it's a ballsy move
01:01:22 'cause we'll see if they're able to,
01:01:24 'cause if they are, it works out.
01:01:25 You're paying guys a lot cheaper
01:01:27 than you would have been for the other names.
01:01:29 But if they suck and they're rookies and they're youngsters,
01:01:31 you have no idea what you're going to get.
01:01:32 It's a dark throw, relatively speaking.
01:01:34 All of a sudden the perception
01:01:35 of the Buffalo Bills changes a lot too.
01:01:37 So yeah, but still, despite your pressuring,
01:01:40 despite your peer pressure,
01:01:41 my mama told me about people like you.
01:01:43 I am sticking to my opinion on the Miami Dolphins
01:01:45 being the least impressive team after all of these months.
01:01:50 So nice try, pal, but no.
01:01:52 - I tried, I tried, I did my best.
01:01:54 All right, now let's go on the other end of the spectrum.
01:01:56 Who do you think were the most improved team or teams?
01:02:00 I'll open the floor.
01:02:02 - Yeah, again, I'm going to sound like the Jets' homer here,
01:02:04 but I would say the Jets for filling all of those holes.
01:02:09 Backup quarterback was huge to me.
01:02:10 I was curious if it was going to be
01:02:12 a complicated negotiation, not from money perspective,
01:02:15 but like, you know, could they get a quarterback here
01:02:18 knowing that they have no chance at Los Angeles Rodgers' heart
01:02:20 and like, for instance, Gardner Minchew,
01:02:22 he's a great example.
01:02:23 He goes over to Vegas, he's like,
01:02:24 "Pfft, ain't no kind of, okay, yeah, yeah,
01:02:26 he's competition, yeah, I'll sign there.
01:02:27 I'll get $25 million and sign there
01:02:30 and compete against him."
01:02:31 Against, in here in New York,
01:02:32 you weren't competing against Aaron Rodgers, obviously.
01:02:35 So that put them in a very compromised position.
01:02:37 66 quarterbacks got to start last,
01:02:40 or got involved last season in the NFL.
01:02:43 So everyone was looking for quarterbacks.
01:02:45 So I wondered where the Jets would stand in the pecking order.
01:02:47 They were able to lure a Tyrod here, who I like a lot.
01:02:50 So Tyrod fills that hole.
01:02:52 The offensive line hole's being filled.
01:02:54 Adding Hassan Redick to this defense is just nasty.
01:02:57 I love Hassan Redick.
01:02:59 And again, it sounds a ridiculous thing to say
01:03:02 when you talk about the production of 50 and a half sacks
01:03:04 over the last four years
01:03:05 and being one of the most productive pass rushers
01:03:07 in the NFL.
01:03:07 Is there another level when you're playing with Quinnan,
01:03:10 when you're playing with Jermaine,
01:03:11 when you're playing with the freshness of Sala
01:03:13 and Jeff Ulbricht,
01:03:14 is there more to the puzzle there?
01:03:16 I'm kind of curious about.
01:03:17 Like, 'cause when you look at some of the other things,
01:03:19 like Buffalo, you know, Joe Blow and my grandma's
01:03:24 playing wide receiver for Josh Allen.
01:03:26 And I'm like, "Eh, okay."
01:03:27 And then the entire defense blew up.
01:03:29 And I think the biggest loss that people wanna talk about
01:03:31 with Buffalo is Mitch Morse.
01:03:32 I think he is the heart and soul of that offensive line
01:03:35 and really that offense.
01:03:37 And just removing him from the equation saying,
01:03:39 "Oh, other Conor McGovern,
01:03:41 "you're gonna slide in here at center
01:03:42 "and it'll all work out."
01:03:44 Especially with the rich continuity
01:03:45 they have this past season and keeping the five together.
01:03:48 That's a big one for me where I'm kind of curious
01:03:50 how all that plays out.
01:03:52 So I like some of the things the Patriots did,
01:03:54 but again, same thing.
01:03:55 I have wide receiver questions with who's going,
01:03:57 "Run it back a tight and that's fine."
01:03:58 Hunter Henry is a jet killer.
01:04:00 He's pretty good.
01:04:01 The defense, I have faith that Gerard Mayo will be able to,
01:04:05 again, we'll see the significant changes
01:04:07 from the Bill Belichick era to Gerard Mayo,
01:04:08 but Gerard Mayo has been there the entire time
01:04:10 as both a player and part of the coaching staff.
01:04:12 So that to me is really intriguing.
01:04:14 But if I have to go most improved
01:04:16 and you go through all the pillars and post,
01:04:18 I think the Jets got a lot better than they were last year.
01:04:20 I thought they were talented last year
01:04:22 outside of the quarterback business,
01:04:23 which obviously hurt them pretty poorly.
01:04:25 - Yeah, I think we're pretty much on the same page there.
01:04:27 I would put the Jets at the top.
01:04:29 I'd probably like, you know,
01:04:30 Patriots and Dolphins kind of in the middle.
01:04:32 The Patriots were just so bad.
01:04:34 Like any improvement would have been a lot of improvement.
01:04:37 But yeah, I think we can also both agree
01:04:38 that the Bills, you know, they're off seasons.
01:04:41 It's been what it is.
01:04:42 It has been what it is.
01:04:43 Not only did they lose talent,
01:04:44 but the leadership especially.
01:04:46 I'm glad you brought up Mitch Morse.
01:04:47 That's one that I don't think
01:04:48 is getting quite enough attention.
01:04:49 All right, brother.
01:04:50 Now let's wrap it up with some AFC East rankings.
01:04:53 Who's coming out on top?
01:04:55 Who's coming out on bottom?
01:04:56 Who's filling those middle brackets?
01:04:58 - Yeah, I'm a Ric Flair believer.
01:05:01 The nature boy, okay?
01:05:02 To be the best, you have to beat the best.
01:05:04 And woo, had to get that in there.
01:05:07 But you know, the Buffalo Bills
01:05:08 have won the division four straight times.
01:05:10 The Dolphins should have won it.
01:05:11 They completely blew it last year.
01:05:13 That was all theirs to the take.
01:05:14 Hey, what a joke, Jabba, that big proportions.
01:05:16 So I will continue to leave the Buffalo Bills
01:05:19 in the number one spot.
01:05:20 They have Josh Allen.
01:05:22 That's going to, you know, keep you in any conversation.
01:05:25 But boy, I've got legitimate questions
01:05:28 beyond in several key categories there for Buffalo.
01:05:32 Because Sean McDermott has been able to blame,
01:05:35 okay, it's Ken Dorsey's fault, you're fired.
01:05:37 All right, it's, you know, it's Leslie Frazier,
01:05:39 you bastard, you're out.
01:05:41 Like, you know, once you run out of fall guys,
01:05:44 you're the fall guy.
01:05:45 You're pointing all these fingers.
01:05:46 Couple of fingers pointed back towards you, pal.
01:05:48 So Sean McDermott, I think the heat has turned up
01:05:51 quite frankly on that young man.
01:05:52 And he's the one where there's a lot of heat there.
01:05:55 But I would put them number one in the pole position
01:05:57 because that's where they have been
01:05:59 the last couple of years.
01:06:00 And to beat them, that's what has to happen for me to shift.
01:06:05 I'll put the Jets in number two.
01:06:07 Again, you are right that there is a lot
01:06:09 of these depth questions.
01:06:11 And if the right injuries happen to each of these,
01:06:13 the Jets are the laughing stock
01:06:14 and fall right back into the place that they've been
01:06:17 for quite some time, sharing the longest playoff drought
01:06:21 in North American sports.
01:06:23 So, but right now everyone's healthy on the Jets.
01:06:25 So in number two, maybe way too early.
01:06:27 Let's plug and play them right there.
01:06:29 And the Miami Dolphins, I'd put three.
01:06:31 I really like a lot of the talent.
01:06:34 You probably, okay, so now it's your fault now
01:06:36 'cause you gave them some credits.
01:06:37 You've kind of bumped them up now.
01:06:39 You've increased their street cred,
01:06:41 which is bad for the Patriots apparently,
01:06:43 'cause you know, that's a four horse race
01:06:45 and being the fourth horse, not quite on the podium,
01:06:48 trying to get a ribbon in this, you know,
01:06:50 local fair contest.
01:06:52 But I put Miami number three.
01:06:53 Again, I have legitimate questions on defense.
01:06:56 I'm kind of curious whether or not Tua can stay healthy
01:06:58 for a second year in a row.
01:07:00 Will lightning strike twice in the same place?
01:07:02 I don't know, 17 games in a long time.
01:07:04 I'm kind of curious if that could happen again.
01:07:06 And for the Patriots, it's a brand new era.
01:07:08 I'm fascinated to see what changes Gerard Mayo brings.
01:07:12 And you know, he's made early mistakes.
01:07:14 We got cash to burn, baby.
01:07:16 I was like, what did Gerard Mayo just say?
01:07:18 - Walk that back, yeah, yeah.
01:07:19 He admitted the head of PR was like kind of flicking.
01:07:23 I was like, dude, don't say that.
01:07:25 - Yeah, right.
01:07:26 So, you know, but it's cool to hear all
01:07:28 of these different labels for coaches on the staff
01:07:31 and this new era of just New England Patriots football
01:07:34 is really interesting to me 'cause it's been one way
01:07:37 for over 20 years, for a long time, a championship glory.
01:07:40 It's been really great, but at some point it had to end.
01:07:43 And now I'm curious on the Gerard Mayo front,
01:07:46 how it all kind of translates.
01:07:47 So, but to be honest, you know,
01:07:49 'cause I wanna be straight with you, Taylor,
01:07:51 we're friends, we're close, you know,
01:07:53 we're brothers from another mother.
01:07:55 I just gotta say that the roster is barren, man.
01:07:57 There's a couple of blue chippers
01:07:58 and even some of the blue chippers I like
01:07:59 that I listed earlier,
01:08:01 some of these guys are coming off of injuries
01:08:02 like Matt Judon, Christian Gonzalez.
01:08:05 I'm a little concerned about some of those.
01:08:06 We'll see, again, not a doctor,
01:08:09 so I don't know how they're recovering from some of those.
01:08:11 But that's the curious part for me
01:08:13 is I think they have to build more of a foundation now.
01:08:15 If Drake May is frigging CJ Stroud,
01:08:18 then this acceleration in the oven
01:08:20 is gonna be a lot quicker.
01:08:21 If he's not, then it's gonna be a multi-year process,
01:08:25 is probably the simplest way to put it,
01:08:27 to put these pieces back together.
01:08:29 So get used to it, Dynasty boys.
01:08:32 Here's the bottom, here's what we've been eating.
01:08:35 Here's what we've been drinking the last couple of years.
01:08:37 So get used to it, pal.
01:08:39 - Hopefully they're just at least competitive
01:08:40 if they're on the bottom,
01:08:41 but hey, who doesn't love an underdog?
01:08:43 I feel like the Patriots are gonna be more than happy
01:08:45 if no one's expecting anything from them,
01:08:47 just more fuel to the fire.
01:08:48 Also funny, I think everyone has said,
01:08:50 when I asked about the rankings,
01:08:52 to be the best, you gotta beat the best,
01:08:54 which is-- - Oh, really?
01:08:56 - Just like-minded folk who have,
01:08:59 I mean, I feel like it's really hard
01:09:01 to argue against that, though.
01:09:02 There's really no reason.
01:09:03 Obviously, the roster is what it is,
01:09:04 but Josh Allen's still Josh Allen,
01:09:06 and you can't count that guy out.
01:09:07 Sean McDermott has gotten his defense
01:09:09 to do what they've had to do,
01:09:10 so gotta give respect to them.
01:09:12 But, buddy, this has been an absolute fantastic time.
01:09:14 Thank you so much for coming on, first of many,
01:09:17 but before I let you go,
01:09:18 please let the people know where they can find you
01:09:20 and what great stuff you got coming down the pipeline.
01:09:21 We should be looking out for you.
01:09:23 - Of course, I appreciate it.
01:09:25 @boygreen25 everywhere, baby.
01:09:26 Branding the YouTube, the Twitter, the Instagram,
01:09:29 all that fun stuff you guys can check out.
01:09:32 And I should be having the conversation come out
01:09:35 tomorrow morning with Charlotte Carey.
01:09:36 She's the director of NFL Broadcasting.
01:09:38 And again, as a scheduling nerd,
01:09:40 I am so curious about a lot of the decisions they made.
01:09:43 Like, you know, was the Jets 49ers game week one,
01:09:45 was that an IOU to ESPN?
01:09:47 'Cause they got gypped the last time
01:09:49 because of the Aaron Rodgers injury.
01:09:50 That, to me, is fascinating.
01:09:51 The primetime slate,
01:09:52 what went into that decision-making for the Jets.
01:09:55 And beyond that, 'cause I know
01:09:56 there's a lot of Patriot fans here,
01:09:57 there's a lot of interesting overall NFL questions.
01:09:59 We'll put in that schedule together,
01:10:01 which are gonna be fascinating.
01:10:02 That should drop tomorrow morning
01:10:03 for @boygreenDaily at 7.30 in the morning.
01:10:05 So yeah, I do a daily show every day
01:10:07 at 7.30 in the morning,
01:10:08 talking all things New York Jets, baby.
01:10:11 So you guys can check that out,
01:10:12 plus fun other interviews as well.
01:10:14 So whatever, RG3s and, you know, Adam Schefters
01:10:18 and whoever the hell, Taylor Kyles, perhaps.
01:10:21 I don't know.
01:10:21 Sometimes he makes an appearance on the show.
01:10:24 So, you know, you never know what you can get.
01:10:26 So that is youtube.com/boygreen25, baby.
01:10:30 - Buddy, you're a phenomenal host.
01:10:31 You get insane guests.
01:10:33 And apparently, now I know, you are also phenomenal guests.
01:10:36 Once again, thank you so much, pal.
01:10:38 And thank you all, as always, for watching.
01:10:40 Now take care of yourselves, take care of each other.
01:10:43 We will see you next time.
01:10:44 Peace, y'all.
01:10:45 (upbeat music)
01:10:47 (upbeat music)
01:10:50 (upbeat music)
