00:00:00Hard hat's all about showing up to play hard, doing what it takes to win.
00:00:08If you want to cement legacy, win another.
00:00:10He's your third center.
00:00:12You don't want to pump him up too much, but it's hard not to.
00:00:15This is maybe the most I've ever agreed with you.
00:00:23What's going on everybody?
00:00:24John Zanis, Bobby Manning.
00:00:26Yep.
00:00:27We got an early start on this one.
00:00:28We're going to have others joining us shortly, but Bobby wanted to jump in and get pound
00:00:32of flesh before he ran off to do his post game gathering responsibilities and before
00:00:39Joe Mazzuola takes the podium, which we are going to bring to you live.
00:00:43But first off, we are here to tell you that Celtics predictably fell to a undermanned
00:00:50Dallas Mavericks team one game after taking down the number one team in the NBA or in
00:00:54the Eastern Conference.
00:00:56They fall one 27, one 20, and let's not pay any attention to the score.
00:01:00This was a stay ready crew, keeping it close.
00:01:03Starters were pulled.
00:01:05What did it get to?
00:01:0624 points.
00:01:07But nine, nine and change left in the fourth quarter, a three pointer made it a 24 point
00:01:12game and Joe Mazzuola had 114, 114 points allowed in three quarters and three minutes.
00:01:19Yep, exactly.
00:01:20So we're going to find out what it wasn't about.
00:01:23I'm sure very soon in the post game.
00:01:25It wasn't this and it wasn't that and it wasn't this and why we don't know what we're
00:01:29talking about.
00:01:30An untrained eye and X, Y and Z.
00:01:33Anybody who's ever watched five year olds play basketball can tell you that the defense
00:01:38was a freaking joke all game long and you want to tell me it's not effort by Dallas
00:01:44played really well, but you want to tell me this is anything other than I just didn't
00:01:47feel like giving it my all tonight and that Lucas Davis is out.
00:01:51We got this.
00:01:55So I don't know, Bobby, you go.
00:01:58It's what I've talked about all year.
00:02:00The defense is not where it needs to be and this was a new low.
00:02:03This is worse than we've seen yet, but it's a related issue to other games that we've
00:02:10watched this year.
00:02:12All you have to do, John, is go back to Sunday to see a similar game, a similar start.
00:02:17And even though they went crazy to finish that game defensively and hitting shots, we
00:02:25asked after that game, all right, did they turn up the defense and then create some good
00:02:29shots or did shots just fall?
00:02:31And that's what caused them to start playing great defense.
00:02:34Now we know our answer.
00:02:35The only reason they won that game is because they shot 14 for 20 from three down the stretch.
00:02:40They decided to get going energetic wise after that, energy wise after that.
00:02:46And it looked great, but it required 14 for 23 point shooting.
00:02:51You didn't get that down the stretch tonight and you didn't guard.
00:02:55So you faded from this game three minutes into the fourth quarter.
00:02:59And for all the talk that night, John, about, oh, do you guys, do you guys want to play?
00:03:04You know, maybe I'll sit you down at half from Joe's perspective.
00:03:06And I'm sure he did say that he didn't do it.
00:03:10And so they went out, they won that game.
00:03:14That's where you're stuck.
00:03:15This is a problem.
00:03:17And this is where you're stuck a little bit here.
00:03:19If you're Joe Mazzuola, this is also why, and I'll bring in Jimmy Toscano, give us a
00:03:23double thumbs up.
00:03:24Let me finish real quick, John.
00:03:25They should have done it tonight.
00:03:26They should have done it tonight.
00:03:27They should have followed through on that when the halftime, because this was pretty
00:03:31clearly not a game at halftime, at least effort wise, they weren't showing the commensurate
00:03:35effort to win this game.
00:03:37You could have made that call again, Jimmy, to put a plug on this game.
00:03:43And they did.
00:03:44Recap the last three minutes.
00:03:45What are you hot on right now?
00:03:46What did I miss?
00:03:48It was just a disgrace.
00:03:49Well, before we, before we recap it.
00:03:50Well, I didn't know how long you were gone, so I couldn't continue the convo.
00:03:56We said it before we recap it, but that's not what we did.
00:03:59I just want to, no, no, no.
00:04:00I want to comment on this because this is, this is really important.
00:04:04We burned Tuesday's show, we just burned the tapes.
00:04:07So this is also why I'm so glad I wasn't on that show because I would have had, because
00:04:13I would have had to pretend, oh, they can flip the switch.
00:04:17I'm getting so sick of those games.
00:04:21But I got to get this out because this, this, I think this matters a lot.
00:04:26You can only, this is why you can only have like one players only meeting, right?
00:04:30Because you can only pull, you can only play that card once and then whatever happens after
00:04:35that is all you can do.
00:04:36You can't have another player's meeting, like that's got to work and if it doesn't work,
00:04:41then you're screwed.
00:04:42Joe Mazzuola can only do that.
00:04:44If you guys don't want to play, I'll frigging bench your asses once and he did it and it
00:04:49worked.
00:04:50And then they did the same exact thing, Bobby, in a, in a week, less than a week, the same
00:04:54exact thing.
00:04:56An undermanned team came out and chose to not play at all.
00:05:01What's Mazzuola going to do there?
00:05:02You guys want to sit this one or am I going to bench your asses again?
00:05:08Like it's not, you can't take it seriously at that point.
00:05:11At that point, at that point, he's just got to bench him.
00:05:16He's played that card.
00:05:17Oh, I motivated him that time.
00:05:19You can't do it again and again.
00:05:21So if he went into halftime and said, do you guys want to sit or are you serious?
00:05:25And they said, no, we'll play.
00:05:27And then did this bad.
00:05:29The whole thing is bad.
00:05:32So we've seen it too much.
00:05:34And most importantly, Jimmy, they fell to 16 and 10 at home tonight.
00:05:40They stink at home.
00:05:41They have twice as many losses at home as they did last year.
00:05:45When I say last show, Bobby, these guys, it doesn't matter if they're on the road in the
00:05:50playoffs.
00:05:51They like being on the road.
00:05:52They're better on the road.
00:05:53They embrace negativity.
00:05:54Isn't that what I said, Bobby?
00:05:56They want to prove people wrong.
00:05:57No, they got booed tonight.
00:05:58At times, they'll flop.
00:06:02If you tell them what they can't do, they'll prove you wrong.
00:06:05And like, so when they're the enemy, they like rally around that and every and they
00:06:10win when they're home and everything's everyone's telling them how great they are.
00:06:15They don't show up.
00:06:16It's like they whatever.
00:06:18What's the excuse going to be tonight, John?
00:06:20What are we going to hear?
00:06:21You know, there's there's a number of them, right?
00:06:23But yeah.
00:06:24Well, you know, tonight.
00:06:27The first game back off a road trip is always a tough reentry.
00:06:30You know, I think there may be some excuses.
00:06:33There's a lot of Joe.
00:06:39It's easy to ask this retroactively because they've made a big run at the end there.
00:06:42But in games like this, where why didn't you play him earlier?
00:06:45There's stuff working against you with the road trip and coming back from that.
00:06:48And is there maybe some evidence here that some of those those bench guys maybe could
00:06:53get minutes earlier as like an energy boost?
00:06:56Yeah, I thought they did a great job when they went in just putting us in position to
00:07:02have a little energy and a shot to bring it back.
00:07:04So that's a credit to them for putting us in that position.
00:07:09And another home loss.
00:07:12It's kind of tough to explain.
00:07:14Like what do you think is going into all these losses at home when you were I know we've
00:07:21asked this before, but I mean, it just keeps on happening.
00:07:23Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, regardless of where you play, you just got to stick to
00:07:26the process of winning.
00:07:27So the things that go into winning, you just have to do those home and away.
00:07:31So that's the most important thing.
00:07:33Coach, as we know, Kyra Irving is the one of the best player for stealing.
00:07:39What was your strategy before the game for his stealing performance?
00:07:43Well, he had four of them.
00:07:45So he did a good job of that.
00:07:47But yeah, he's a great player.
00:07:48Both ends of the floor.
00:07:49He's got quick hands.
00:07:50He's got the ability to time passes, time dribbles.
00:07:53And you know, he did a good job of that in the first half.
00:07:56And also your bench players.
00:07:58Do you think it will be problematic playoff or final at the finals also?
00:08:03Your bench players performance?
00:08:05Do you think it will be an issue?
00:08:07Do you think your bench stinks?
00:08:08No.
00:08:09Not at all.
00:08:10Okay.
00:08:12You're welcome.
00:08:13Jay, you've talked in the past a lot about how offense can affect your guys' defense.
00:08:16You missed a lot of layups earlier.
00:08:18I'm worried for Jack.
00:08:19How much do you think some of your defensive problems were directly related to that versus
00:08:23sort of taking that out of the equation and just being better on defense?
00:08:25I think first half was a little bit of both, right?
00:08:27They had 21 points in transition.
00:08:28It was a combination of 10 of those were off turnovers.
00:08:31And then the other 11 were probably a combination of a missed layup that puts you in a disadvantaged
00:08:36situation.
00:08:37Plus, you know, Klay Thompson had a great first half.
00:08:40So I think it was a combination of both of those things where it was a transition defense
00:08:43because of the product.
00:08:44We were eight for 18 on layups in the first half.
00:08:47This layup is just as dangerous as a live ball turnover because of the ability to get
00:08:51out in transition.
00:08:52So just a combination of Thompson getting hot, us not doing a great job on him, and
00:08:57then a combination of our eight for 18 on layups and, you know, the live ball turnover.
00:09:01So, you know, that's a play to partner.
00:09:04And then when you look at what the bench guys did at the end of that game, how much of that
00:09:07type of thing sticks in your mind when you're looking for rotation decisions in future games
00:09:11or maybe looking to insert some of those guys for energy?
00:09:13Like how important is a stretch like that for you when you're looking to make future
00:09:16decisions?
00:09:17Oh, it's huge.
00:09:18Yeah.
00:09:19I mean, it's everything, right?
00:09:20I mean, everybody has a role.
00:09:21Everyone has to perform.
00:09:22And they did a great job of doing that.
00:09:23And to me, that goes a long way into finding when guys can be able to help us regardless
00:09:27of the situation.
00:09:28So I took credit to them.
00:09:29I thought they handled it really well.
00:09:30And, you know, that was good.
00:09:33Joe, in the offseason, you said you didn't just want the target on your back.
00:09:37You wanted to see the red dot between your eyes.
00:09:39You were animated about the pressure of being the repeat champions.
00:09:44And teams have responded in kind.
00:09:45This is a Finals rematch.
00:09:46Dallas comes out fast.
00:09:47Wave them out of there.
00:09:48Come on, Twister.
00:09:49And they score in bunches.
00:09:50It looks like that target is indeed on your back, if not between the eyes.
00:09:54How are you enjoying that pressure?
00:09:55How do you think you're navigating that pressure?
00:09:56And do you think the players agree with you on that?
00:09:58I think it's been great.
00:10:00I mean, again, there's no compass as to what it's supposed to look like.
00:10:04And, you know, so at the end of the day, the regular season gives us a ton of information
00:10:08and the things that we need to build towards.
00:10:10And it's been a great journey.
00:10:11I mean, that's part of it.
00:10:13And so thanks for reminding me of that.
00:10:15And I'm having a blast.
00:10:17Joe, to the point this season where you're not sure, quite sure how you guys are going
00:10:23to perform from game to game, like you just sometimes you just can't call it.
00:10:29Seven turnovers in the first quarter after winning at Cleveland, playing a complete game
00:10:34there.
00:10:35Then the sloppiness, is that catching you off guard or is there a reason why you guys
00:10:41come home from trips and just don't aren't as focused?
00:10:44I think you make an interesting point there because I didn't think we played a complete
00:10:47game in Cleveland, but the win can disguise some of those things.
00:10:50So at the end of the day, it's more about the process of what we're looking to do.
00:10:54We had stretches of really bad basketball at the end of the first half of Cleveland,
00:10:58but we were able to work through that.
00:10:59And so to me, the result, you know, doesn't matter as much as the process working towards
00:11:04that.
00:11:05So I don't think we played a complete game in Cleveland.
00:11:06I don't think we played one tonight.
00:11:08You know, it was just longer stretches of the process and the details that we didn't
00:11:12do a great job of.
00:11:14Can you put your finger on the inconsistency?
00:11:15I mean, you said it best.
00:11:17I mean, there's seven turnovers in the first quarter.
00:11:19We were eight for 18 on layups and they had 21 points in transition.
00:11:22So I thought that, you know, put us in a tough spot in the first half.
00:11:26And defensively, you made adjustments to Thompson, but Marshall and Dinwiddie and Exum, is that
00:11:35because of confidence now that those guys have confidence that they're doing that?
00:11:39I have no idea about those guys' confidence.
00:11:42I've never spoken to them.
00:11:43No, I know, Joe, but do you give, do other guys get confidence when they make early shots?
00:11:49Oh yeah, absolutely.
00:11:50I mean, if you see the first one go in, I think that, you know, everybody's different.
00:11:53I have no idea how they respond psychologically to it, but I would imagine if a player sees
00:11:59the first one go in and they got a better chance of making the next two or three, I
00:12:02would think so.
00:12:03But yeah.
00:12:04Joe, I know it's not the main thing from tonight, but just that fourth quarter stretch, what
00:12:15do you think enabled them to, I think, I think Drew Peterson, Damir Shkeda, they outscored
00:12:19those guys by 17 in their nine minutes.
00:12:21So what do you think was kind of the key to that run that maybe you can kind of build
00:12:24off of?
00:12:25Yeah, I mean, they played great.
00:12:26I mean, they played with energy, they played with, you know, they executed on both ends
00:12:30of the floor and they did their job.
00:12:32So it's a credit to them, you know, but they play with the, you know, they were just ready
00:12:36to play when they went out there.
00:12:37So it was good.
00:12:39Joe, you talk about the process a lot.
00:12:43You have a game like this where you miss a lot of layups, it's not a normal thing.
00:12:47You guys generally take care of the ball, but you turned it over a lot.
00:12:51It's easy to kind of look at that and say it's an aberration, but you talk about the
00:12:55process.
00:12:57How do you avoid somebody maybe blowing this off as, well, this just doesn't usually happen
00:13:05and have it be like a focus on, well, we didn't have a good process and to internalize it
00:13:10and take it and learn from it and all of that stuff?
00:13:12I mean, I think you take a look at what are we second in the league in turnover percentage
00:13:15and we're top in two-point field goal percentage.
00:13:18So the process is what we've done over the course of, I mean, we've played 45 games.
00:13:23So that's the process is what we've done over the course of the entire season.
00:13:27Right.
00:13:28So when a game like this happens, is it like you just blow it off and be like, well, it's
00:13:35part of the bigger number or like, because-
00:13:37I mean, you definitely don't blow it off.
00:13:39You watch them, you look at them, you understand where you have to be better.
00:13:41Some of them came because of our spacing.
00:13:44Some of them came because of our ball security.
00:13:45So no, you don't blow it off.
00:13:47But from the standpoint of like what we do, what we do, you look to do over that over
00:13:50the course of a long period of time.
00:13:52And so no, you definitely don't blow it off.
00:13:53We'll watch it.
00:13:54We'll figure out where we need to get better on those.
00:13:56And then you trust the process of what we've done over the course of a 45-game stretch
00:14:00or whatever it is that, you know, we will more times than not be the best version of
00:14:03ourselves.
00:14:04You know what I mean?
00:14:05Thank you, Joe.
00:14:06Thanks.
00:14:07Well, that was Joe Mazzuola, press conference here at TD Garden, where the Celtics, again,
00:14:17go down in ugly fashion.
00:14:20Don't pay attention to the score.
00:14:21That's not what it was.
00:14:22Yeah.
00:14:23127-120.
00:14:24Bobby, I know you got to head out here.
00:14:26Couple quick notes off of Joe Mazzuola.
00:14:28Look, it's to be expected.
00:14:29And I've told you my thoughts on what he says versus what he's what he says to us versus
00:14:34what he's saying there.
00:14:35I don't agree with you, John.
00:14:36I know.
00:14:37I'm just saying I know it enrages fans and media.
00:14:40What bothers me, though, is the notion of process.
00:14:43If he actually does believe it, that's a bit of a problem, because one thing that stood
00:14:46out to me that he said, you know, we did some of the things well, but just in the other
00:14:52night, you know, some of things not well.
00:14:54It's just, you know, we did we did the process for longer stretches last game than this game.
00:14:58Like no shit.
00:15:00Like if I'm driving my car and like I crash it eight times, but I didn't crash it for
00:15:07two minutes, I'm not concerned about the process.
00:15:10Like I crashed my car eight times.
00:15:14Doesn't matter that I drove well for two minutes, you know, in two different stretches.
00:15:18Like it doesn't work that way.
00:15:20Like you crashed the friggin car, Joe, over and over and over again.
00:15:25Who cares if you made it from this corner to that corner?
00:15:28Oh, that was good driving.
00:15:30Like that's so dumb.
00:15:31It's all game.
00:15:33And you gave up 67 points at the half, 114 through friggin it was 39 minutes.
00:15:40Like it was all bad.
00:15:43All of it.
00:15:44The entire.
00:15:45There's nothing about the process that worked tonight.
00:15:48None of it.
00:15:49So just scrap it once, just once say it was all bad.
00:15:54There was no process.
00:15:56We did nothing.
00:15:57Right?
00:15:58Nothing.
00:15:59Yeah.
00:16:00That drives me nuts.
00:16:01There was nothing about it.
00:16:02You crashed the car, Joe.
00:16:03You crashed the friggin car, Joe.
00:16:04You did it again, Joe.
00:16:05You backed out of the parking spot and you crashed the car.
00:16:06But John, to your point.
00:16:07Yeah.
00:16:08But did you see how I turned the car on?
00:16:09That was good.
00:16:10Yeah.
00:16:11You can't go back to the, Oh, I'm going to bench you guys a halftime thing.
00:16:26How many times can you go back to we're having fun and this is great.
00:16:30That drives you crazy.
00:16:32But I think it, I think that's the, I think that's just him being like difficult.
00:16:36Like he's just messing with you.
00:16:39Right.
00:16:40He's just, he's that's, that's him.
00:16:41Yeah.
00:16:42That's not the process.
00:16:43That's the journey.
00:16:44There's a difference here.
00:16:45So like there's a process along the journey and you have to enjoy, yeah, you have to appreciate
00:16:50the process and enjoy the journey because all of a sudden it'll end.
00:16:54And if you're just have your eyes on the end, you'll miss all the ups and downs that got
00:16:59you to the end.
00:17:00Do you understand Bobby?
00:17:01It's okay.
00:17:02You'll get it someday.
00:17:03No, I don't get it.
00:17:04I don't get it.
00:17:05That's how Joe, that's how Joe understands.
00:17:06Yeah.
00:17:07And you know what?
00:17:08None of us do.
00:17:09And then when somebody, and it doesn't matter.
00:17:10Cause then when somebody like Gary compliments, like the last game, oh, you had a complete
00:17:15game.
00:17:16Oh yeah.
00:17:17It was actually bad.
00:17:18We actually didn't have a complete game, even though what did he have to say after that
00:17:20game?
00:17:21Thought we had a lot of good shots in the first half that just didn't go down.
00:17:23Now all of a sudden it's, oh no, we actually didn't have, we actually didn't play well
00:17:27in this game.
00:17:28Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:17:29So it doesn't really matter.
00:17:31You know, what do you say?
00:17:33I'll just add this because of course we're going to hear that at the podium this time
00:17:38of night.
00:17:39Fortunately, someone else went to the podium earlier in the day and says last six weeks
00:17:43have been up and down.
00:17:44Yeah.
00:17:45Our Nate ratings good, but you know, it's kind of inflated by some blowout winds over
00:17:49that stretch.
00:17:50And, you know, this probably some reasons that we haven't been at our best the last
00:17:55month plus here, but they're hoping it will be good, you know, when the time comes, when
00:18:00the time's necessary.
00:18:01So at least, you know, somewhere in the organization, there's some acknowledgement that the last
00:18:04six weeks haven't been good here.
00:18:06And again, four games going into this, we're pretty solid, but it's just, it's too often
00:18:10we've heard this, John, this year that, you know, some of the game was great, but it's
00:18:15just a couple of minutes that did us in and, you know, this is fun and this is a great
00:18:19process and we're enjoying this.
00:18:20I mean, you know, 10 losses later at home, I don't, can't even count how many times we've
00:18:25gone on the air after games like this, defense just wasn't there.
00:18:28They let up because the opponent's stars weren't in or whatever it is.
00:18:32And it's just, I can't even get frustrated about any more guy, John, because it's just,
00:18:36it's so expected.
00:18:37And whether he's in the locker room, yeah.
00:18:40Go do your thing.
00:18:41Jump into the locker room.
00:18:42Take a deep breath.
00:18:43Inhale.
00:18:44Exhale.
00:18:45Tag out.
00:18:46Go.
00:18:47Ready?
00:18:48One, two, three.
00:18:49Go.
00:18:50Pow.
00:18:51Out through the mouth.
00:18:52Yeah.
00:18:53Release all that negative energy.
00:18:54Watch this.
00:18:55Learning that.
00:18:56I was trying to time it.
00:18:57Boom.
00:18:58Now that's a trade.
00:18:59Yes.
00:19:00That's an online trade right there.
00:19:02Yes.
00:19:03Yes.
00:19:04Hello, people.
00:19:05I wanted, I was trying to get it right, but Bobby couldn't frigging connect it there,
00:19:08but that's fine.
00:19:09He couldn't.
00:19:10So let me ask you this.
00:19:11It's the journey.
00:19:12Farhad, I'll ask you this.
00:19:14It's much easier from, I don't know if you'd listen to any of Joe there.
00:19:18It's much easier from where we sit at home to say, why didn't you ask this?
00:19:24Why didn't you ask this?
00:19:25Why didn't you ask this?
00:19:26I'm just going to go right out and say it.
00:19:28Why at no point does anybody ask a question that just says simply, because there's a lot
00:19:33of, when you guys aren't doing this and you're thinking about that, do you maybe think if
00:19:40you tried that it would be more like this?
00:19:43And it's just a lot of like, just in circles sort of stuff.
00:19:46Yeah.
00:19:47Because you don't want to go at Joe, but like, has anybody ever just say, Jason Tatum was
00:19:52bad tonight?
00:19:53Like, is something up with him or just a bad game?
00:19:56What did you think of his performance?
00:19:58He was turnovers, defense, you know, what happened there?
00:20:02You know, like I just out of curiosity, like, Hey, your best players were bad.
00:20:07Why is that?
00:20:08And how important is it for your best players to not be bad?
00:20:11Because it's, as I always say, every time we do a blame pie, I don't care what the stats
00:20:16say.
00:20:17I almost always go right to the top with those two guys.
00:20:19It starts there and it trickles down.
00:20:23Always because that's, they're the tone setter.
00:20:26When you survive, when they don't play great sometimes, and they got away with it a lot
00:20:30last year, but I'm always starting there.
00:20:32And when you see them out there, when Jason Tatum, when Jalen's just dribbling off his
00:20:37frigging leg, you know, and Tatum's not taking care of the ball either.
00:20:41And then they're not getting back on D that's, that's such a horrible tone for the entire
00:20:46game.
00:20:47I, those are so hard to recover from.
00:20:48So like, I always want to start there.
00:20:50Like what's up with those dudes?
00:20:52Like why are they in and out?
00:20:53Yeah.
00:20:54I mean, tonight they were just out.
00:20:56I mean, you, this might've been the worst game that they played on the same night, all
00:21:03season.
00:21:04They've had different variations of what I like to call levels of suctitude, but this
00:21:09was probably the, the, the level of suctitude that they were at their absolute highest levels
00:21:16of on the same night.
00:21:17And it's inexcusable.
00:21:18I mean, John, to your point, I mean, this was like basically the worst.
00:21:25Parts of their games amplified, like Tatum, just not being aggressive and assertive.
00:21:32Jalen, like literally dribbling it off his foot and leading to transition baskets the
00:21:38other way.
00:21:39It was bad.
00:21:40And I didn't hear Joe's presser, but it's not surprising.
00:21:45Most of the questions that Joe gets are kind of almost, they almost treat him like, like
00:21:49he's a little kid and you got to give him this medicine, but let's just put it in like
00:21:52the mashed potatoes and let's put it in the applesauce so that, you know, he, he can get
00:21:57the medicine, but doesn't really taste it.
00:22:00Um, he, I, I, again, I didn't hear the question, but I don't know how you could ask.
00:22:04Not why those guys were bad.
00:22:06Yeah.
00:22:07They also always give him the option to say, and Joe, if you don't want to eat this medicine,
00:22:10you could just fling the mashed potatoes against the wall.
00:22:13And I'll accept that too, you know, because it doesn't really matter.
00:22:18And that's what he does.
00:22:19He takes it and he flings it against the wall and he tells you something else is happening
00:22:22on like, I don't like this.
00:22:24So I mean, again, it doesn't matter what Joe says.
00:22:28It matters why it's happening.
00:22:30And that's what I can't understand is like, I mean, again, I go back to Joe's untrained
00:22:35eye comment from before.
00:22:38Um, you know, when he was like, oh, you guys, it's a low hanging fruit.
00:22:44That's the Bobby Manning trigger, trigger line right there.
00:22:46But as I say, there's actually nothing, there's nothing easier to see than effort.
00:22:52You could be watching five-year-olds play or 50-year-olds play at the Y or NBA players.
00:22:57You could tell when people are putting it all out there and when people are just pointing
00:23:02and like, you go get that guy and I'm just going to stand here.
00:23:04You can see effort.
00:23:06It's really easy.
00:23:07And you know how you could tell the difference?
00:23:09What Jordan Walsh did in the last seven, eight minutes of the game was effort.
00:23:14I'm going to run out here and like, and yes, can you expect that from Tatum and Brown who
00:23:20are carrying an offensive load and playing 40 minutes a night?
00:23:23No, it's not realistic for 82.
00:23:25No, but that's what effort looks like.
00:23:28And when you're just kind of, you know, just letting people walk around and get into their
00:23:32spots and standing around and not fighting through screens and not, you can see it.
00:23:37You can see it.
00:23:38It was a layup line all night.
00:23:41There was zero perimeter defense.
00:23:42They got wherever they wanted to go.
00:23:44Yeah.
00:23:45And, and when they actually showed some semblance of defense, because they were, because Dallas
00:23:49was such a great rhythm, it didn't matter when you, when they were defending, they're
00:23:53knocking out and they made some tough shots.
00:23:55But the reason why they made so many of those tough shots was because they were in a great
00:23:59rhythm that you allow them to get into that.
00:24:02That's literally what happens all the time.
00:24:05When you look at teams that are really good and they had these inexplicable, horrific
00:24:10games.
00:24:11That's when it comes down to that.
00:24:12They didn't play with great effort.
00:24:14They allow the other team to get comfortable and they never made any type of mental adjust.
00:24:18Forget about X's and O's.
00:24:20Actually adjust from a mentality standpoint.
00:24:22I mean, if they're getting layups one after the other, here's the thought, hard foul or
00:24:27barrier.
00:24:28No, forget that.
00:24:29How about a foul to just actually throw the rhythm off a little bit?
00:24:33There was none of that at all, at all muted on your muted.
00:24:38Sorry.
00:24:40That's what I don't fully get here and we'll get into it a little bit because there's some
00:24:43news with the Celtics.
00:24:46Trade deadline passed and I know we have one ad, which is Torrey Krug, is it?
00:24:53Craig.
00:24:54I'm kidding.
00:24:55I know I'm kidding.
00:24:56Don't mess with me.
00:24:57Sorry.
00:24:58I was going to say, wait a minute, John.
00:24:59Hold on.
00:25:00I'll say that probably.
00:25:01No, I'm just kidding.
00:25:02They signed Torrey Craig, who's a wing, Brad Steven said prior to the game.
00:25:06He hasn't played in a while.
00:25:07He's only played nine games this season.
00:25:08He's been around for a bit.
00:25:09He's been shooting a bit.
00:25:12This is insurance.
00:25:13This isn't going to make much of a difference.
00:25:15You did lose Jayden Springer for money and that's fine.
00:25:19And you're not really playing Walsh and you're not playing some other guys who could kind
00:25:26of provide that energy.
00:25:27So this is what I don't fully understand is if what you're lacking, guys lack polish,
00:25:33lack the ability to score, lack the ability to become full-time rotation players because
00:25:38they're not complete basketball players.
00:25:40They're not going to crack this rotation.
00:25:42But if your, if your problem continues to be perimeter defense, ball pressure, energy,
00:25:50why aren't you using energy guys a little bit more often to infuse some life into debt
00:25:54into dead ass teams rather than let them play dead ass for two, two and a half, sometimes
00:25:59three quarters.
00:26:00I find that perplexing.
00:26:01I'm not a Jordan Walsh guy and I was never a Jayden Springer guy, but holy crap, I'm
00:26:06totally on board with their energy.
00:26:09And it's really weird to watch the same guys play flat and then just keep putting them
00:26:15out there and just expect different results, you know, for quarters at a time, games at
00:26:21a time.
00:26:22It's weird.
00:26:23I have to believe that we're going to see a little bit more consistency in terms of
00:26:28minutes from Jordan Walsh because when you, I don't know how you could not recognize
00:26:35that they're from an energy, high impact, getting the guys involved and engaged and
00:26:41energized standpoint.
00:26:43They really don't have anyone.
00:26:44I mean, the closest guy that is a regular is Derek White, but again, Derek, he usually
00:26:49has a good three or four minute stretch and then it just kind of go away from him and
00:26:53he doesn't necessarily have that same assertiveness.
00:26:55They need someone who's a non core guy to be that energy guy.
00:27:01It's pretty clear and obvious that that is something, and I don't, I don't give a damn
00:27:05how trained or untrained your eyes is clear that when you have a guy like that, you can
00:27:09do things like you did in the fourth quarter when you don't play guys like that, you get
00:27:13your ass down by 27 points to a team that is significantly shorthanded and they're doing
00:27:19it in your building.
00:27:21Yeah.
00:27:22Pritchard's used to be the energy guy, but he's got a bigger role now.
00:27:26It's like, yeah, exactly.
00:27:27He's got a bigger role.
00:27:29Cornette, John, you're muted again.
00:27:32Pritchard's told to be sparky.
00:27:33Exactly.
00:27:34Yeah.
00:27:35He's too important now.
00:27:36There needs to be, there needs to be a handing of the spark.
00:27:38Sparky got a promotion guys, Sparky got a promotion.
00:27:42Exactly.
00:27:43And, and, but the problem is Sharad, Pritchard was good enough to be sparky, but also like
00:27:48contribute these bench guys, go ahead and put them in for energy.
00:27:52Energy's not going to like win you the game.
00:27:54I mean, I know what you're saying.
00:27:56You need, you need to have guys that are going to, you know, I guess in a way it's spread
00:28:02to the next guy.
00:28:03You know, they can kind of change the dynamic, change like the, the direction the team's
00:28:07going in.
00:28:08But Jordan Walsh can go in there for a couple of like spurts, you know, and the same with
00:28:14any of those other guys in the state ready crew.
00:28:16And I'm not talking about Pritchard.
00:28:18I'm not talking about Cornette.
00:28:19I'm not talking about Hauser.
00:28:20Those guys are a part of the rotation.
00:28:22After that though, and Horford, after that, there isn't a guy that, you know, is dependable.
00:28:28Maybe it is going to be Craig, but Craig's a, you know, he's a role, you know, a role
00:28:33bench type player too.
00:28:34The new guy, you know, comes in and can do, you know, hit a shot, hit a couple of shots
00:28:39and you know, be the wing that they need.
00:28:41But again, no one's coming to see these guys.
00:28:43You've been saying it all year.
00:28:44So a lot of teams make moves today.
00:28:46A lot of contenders made themselves a little bit better and different, you know, and variations
00:28:51Celtics didn't at the end of the day.
00:28:53And it's not like they have anyone coming back from an injury soon.
00:28:56Like last year was like, Oh, of course, English will be back.
00:28:59This is the team.
00:29:00I mean, these guys need to figure it out before I guess the playoffs come.
00:29:04I mean, it's the good news is there's plenty of time.
00:29:07The bad news is I have no reason to believe that anything's going to change.
00:29:10That's what it's a little bit worrisome at this point.
00:29:13That's the, that's, that's the concern, Jimmy, and I do have breaking news.
00:29:16The fire alarm is going off in the press room.
00:29:19Let's see if we can hear it.
00:29:20Oh, I like that.
00:29:21No, we can't hear it, but that's the word.
00:29:25That's the word I've gotten.
00:29:27Is that a ploy to get the player now, watch none of the players will have to talk now.
00:29:32Now Tatum is going to come out an hour and a half after round, pull the fire by lighting
00:29:37a fire under this team.
00:29:38That is not what we meant.
00:29:42Let's go.
00:29:43I can't hear it.
00:29:44That's not the press room though.
00:29:45So it might be in a different, that's, that's a different room.
00:29:50Joe pulled the fire alarm.
00:29:51That's it.
00:29:53This is what I'm worried about fuzzy that you guys are going to disappear until the
00:29:58second round.
00:29:59No, they won't.
00:30:00Because the frustration is what brings people back actually.
00:30:02Yeah.
00:30:03But I mean, like I said, I I'm tired of this.
00:30:04I don't want to do this show.
00:30:05Like, you know, I, I, I want them to run off eight or nine in a row.
00:30:09So it'd be like, all right, here we go.
00:30:11Let's go.
00:30:12Yeah.
00:30:13We're going to need therapy, John.
00:30:14That's what we're here for.
00:30:15I honestly thought that Cleveland was like going to be some kind of a turning point.
00:30:17It was like their fourth straight win.
00:30:20It was a different type of a wind and you know, the ones that they had to eke out against,
00:30:24you know, non-playoff teams, they, you know, against the contender on the road, um, you
00:30:31know, and, and they, they didn't do it like by shooting lights out.
00:30:34Like they actually had to trap, there it is.
00:30:38There it is.
00:30:42That's a fire.
00:30:43That's to get out of it.
00:30:44There's an emergency with the Celtics.
00:30:45Get out.
00:30:46This is there.
00:30:47This is the panic.
00:30:48Somebody hit the panic.
00:30:49Who hit the panic button?
00:30:50You don't hit it.
00:30:51It wasn't me.
00:30:52It wasn't me.
00:30:53This guy.
00:30:54Damn.
00:30:55Everyone abandoned ship.
00:30:56Get out.
00:30:57This is, this is like the, the, like everything is fine meme where the place is burning down
00:31:10and the guy sitting there, we just need a player to sit there right now.
00:31:15It's perfect.
00:31:17We should do the whole show with this bit with the, with the siren beeping in the background.
00:31:22Oh my God.
00:31:23Oh my God.
00:31:24So good.
00:31:25Anyway, that's, what's going on at TD garden right now.
00:31:31We're going to talk a little more.
00:31:32Um, we'll get your party journey.
00:31:35Yeah.
00:31:36Uh, well we've got some people in the locker room.

00:33:06Um, back to it guys.
00:33:07Big game.
00:33:09I like the Eagles.
00:33:10I like them.
00:33:11I know, I know, I know the chiefs are inevitable, but I do think, um, I, I think, I think they're
00:33:17going to give them trouble at the, in the trenches at the line of scrimmage a little
00:33:20bit, kind of like Tampa did.
00:33:23I'm hammering fly Eagles fly, man.
00:33:25I'm done with, I'm done with my homes.
00:33:26I'm done with the chiefs.
00:33:28I think that the Eagles are more complete team.
00:33:30The chiefs weren't even that good this year.
00:33:33I can't believe they're in the super bowl.
00:33:34Honestly, I really can't.
00:33:35And I know that they want a ton of games, but I felt like, I mean, how many games did
00:33:38they just barely, barely get good in the same way?
00:33:43The Patriots weren't good.
00:33:44So many years that they won and everybody would pull their hair out.
00:33:47Look what happened to Sherrod as an Eagles fan, pulled all his hair out, watching the
00:33:51Patriots Eagles, the Eagles.
00:33:55I won't forgive.
00:33:56I won't forgive bill for that super bowl.
00:33:58The one that we should, the one where you guys got us like in what, 2017 or every time
00:34:02Malcolm Butler talks, it just gets weirder and weirder.
00:34:06It does.
00:34:07What the hell was going on yesterday?
00:34:09Oh my God.
00:34:10He didn't seem right.
00:34:13I honestly don't know if I don't know what to believe anymore.
00:34:16I really don't.
00:34:17I really don't know what to believe.
00:34:18Here's the thing.
00:34:19When you don't know what to believe, believe all of it.
00:34:21That's kind of what I say, you know, because you know, it's, it's, it's so true.
00:34:27All of what everyone is saying, it's likely all of it.
00:34:31And yeah.
00:34:32All that stuff.
00:34:33If Butler doesn't want to talk about it, it's not because it's not because he's being a
00:34:40good soldier.
00:34:41It's because it's as embarrassing for him as it is for them.
00:34:44So yes, I believe all of it, you know, all of the stuff out there.
00:34:48That's, that's my take.
00:34:49That's my take.
00:34:50Yeah.
00:34:51But Butler's still like hanging around and like doing the Patriots thing, like, I don't
00:34:56get it, man.
00:34:57It was a great story.
00:34:58My, two of my favorite words in all of sports are Malcolm go.
00:35:01I agree.
00:35:02So good.
00:35:03That was unreal.
00:35:04So good.
00:35:05Anyway.
00:35:06Back to the Eagles too.
00:35:08I guess I'll ask it here is, you know, it's always the, I mean, you have to look at the
00:35:15bigger picture.
00:35:16The Celtics had kind of sorta played better, you know, and we see all of these letdowns
00:35:24kind of coming off of overall, like decent bodies of work, right?
00:35:30They just won four straight, you know, that you felt better about, including a win over
00:35:35Cleveland, the comeback against Philadelphia, which was actually a crap game, a shit game
00:35:39against the Pelicans.
00:35:40I don't care.
00:35:43What happened?
00:35:44I remember back when it's cheap.
00:35:47Is that you?
00:35:48Is that you?
00:35:49Jimmy?
00:35:50Did you hear me?
00:35:51Yeah.
00:35:52I thought I had it on mute.
00:35:53Wait, I might have the wrong microphone on right now.
00:35:59Something else is going on in the hallway.
00:36:01My microphone is about to get so much better.
00:36:02Can you hear me better now?
00:36:05Yes.
00:36:06Yeah.
00:36:07I had the wrong microphone on.
00:36:08So when I hit mute, I was watching a clip on Twitter, a sports clip.
00:36:15It didn't mute.
00:36:16But anyway, four straight wins and then they lose this one.
00:36:20You had that three in one road trip, but the really shitty game against Los Angeles, including
00:36:24a shitty win against the Clippers as well.
00:36:27You had that three in one road trip where you went through Minnesota, Houston, Denver,
00:36:33but you also got trucked by Oklahoma City and they stole your lunch money in the second
00:36:40half there.
00:36:41So there's always the loss feels a lot worse than any of the wins that surround it.
00:36:46And that's what's weird about this team.
00:36:48You're still looking at a team with a 36 and 16 record.
00:36:51This is still a team that entering tonight was only three games off of last year's pace.
00:36:57And point differential was close ish.
00:37:00You know, we know they've been struggling for six weeks or so, and it's really been
00:37:05up and down.
00:37:07But what do you feel is what's more emblematic of this team or what makes you think this
00:37:13is their true selves here?
00:37:16A loss like this or like a win versus Cleveland or the ones that preceded it?
00:37:22This is where I'm stuck because now it's like everyone can say, dude, scoreboard, second
00:37:28best team.
00:37:29Okay, well, like they're not, they're, they're not as bad as they were tonight.
00:37:34So I don't think they're more like tonight's team.
00:37:37But I, and I do think that they can contend with any team in the league.
00:37:40So I do feel like they are closer to the Cleveland team.
00:37:43The concern is that they can't show up like that consistently.
00:37:47And they did not play great.
00:37:48I agree with Joe, by the way.
00:37:49But yeah.
00:37:50Yeah.
00:37:51Again, they didn't play.
00:37:52I mean, they, they shot horribly to start that game, but it was the way that they figured
00:37:55out a way to win.
00:37:57That's what we were kind of hammering it on.
00:37:58Is that on the night where they didn't have it, where we would say, oh, well, of course
00:38:02they won.
00:38:03They shot 50% from three, but no, it was a different type of win.
00:38:06So you kind of felt good about them being able to pull it out on the road and play with,
00:38:11you know, defensively.
00:38:12I thought they did some good things against Cleveland, but again, it doesn't carry over.
00:38:16It's not a better way to phrase the question, Jimmy.
00:38:18Are they, is it, do, are they closer to the 24 or the 23 team?
00:38:23You know, that, that, that's kind of, yeah, it goes to the 23 team, 23.
00:38:26Yeah.
00:38:27Yeah.
00:38:28I would say 23 team.
00:38:29And right now they're lacking that they don't have that killer mentality.
00:38:33Like last year, it felt like they wanted to punish teams.
00:38:36It felt like they wanted to prove everybody wrong.
00:38:39And guess what?
00:38:40They did prove everybody wrong.
00:38:41So where do you dig deep now?
00:38:43Where do you find that?
00:38:44Where do you find that extra gear and like, and want to continue to like punish teams
00:38:50and continue to prove the doubters wrong and, and want to repeat, it's so hard to do those
00:38:55things.
00:38:56That's why it doesn't happen that often.
00:38:57And I feel like they haven't tapped into that yet.
00:38:59Well, they, they, I don't know if they will.
00:39:02Yeah.
00:39:03I, it seems as though they just, they haven't been able to frankly figure shit out on the
00:39:09fly.
00:39:10Like they did a year ago.
00:39:11Yeah.
00:39:12There were games where it would be basically like a three, four, five point game.
00:39:16And then you blink your eyes and they're up by 18.
00:39:19And some of that is just knocking down shots.
00:39:20But a lot of it was just making plays defensively, making hustle plays that leads to easy baskets
00:39:25at the other end of the floor, doing all those little things that allow them to take a tightly
00:39:30contested game and make it a runaway win for them.
00:39:34And they don't seem to have been able to figure that out.
00:39:36And part of it is their opponents for sure.
00:39:38But a lot of the problems are self-inflicted wounds.
00:39:40Like tonight, a lot of the, the, a big part of why they got down so big wasn't because
00:39:46of anything Dallas was doing special.
00:39:48It was, they were literally giving the ball away, kicking the ball out of bounds, turning
00:39:52it over, not being in position to get rebounds.
00:39:54Yeah.
00:39:55And it was, and it was like this all game and the bench got rolled, right?
00:40:02The bench has the bench that's been giving them a boost got rolled.
00:40:07And that was bad.
00:40:08They couldn't recover from that either, but bad all around that all around the bench numbers
00:40:13will end up looking a little bit better at the end of the day, but they weren't good.
00:40:16You know, it'll look better because of that fourth quarter, but yeah, exactly.
00:40:20They had blown up for him before then, but I mean, the more I watch this team, the, the,
00:40:26the more concerned about how they'll be, if any key player is not ready to roll from day
00:40:33one, like no drew holiday tonight.
00:40:36Would you have been a difference in this game?
00:40:38Probably not, but it would have been a much closer game if they play no doubt about that.
00:40:44So I'm looking at this comment.
00:40:45This has always been an issue of mine with the Celtics, even at full health.
00:40:48They're not, they're not the most athletic team.
00:40:51They're not like their best players are not explosively athletic outside of Jalen Brown.
00:40:56They are crafty and capable and, you know, and, and, you know, and, and versatile and
00:41:01they can do a lot of things and they're long, but they're not like explosive athletes.
00:41:05And every time you go double, you know, and, you know, I know with holiday being out and
00:41:10I know holidays showing his age a teeny bit, but you know, you're, you're losing something
00:41:14there too, on the perimeter for sure.
00:41:15Even though he's not a hundred percent of what he was last year.
00:41:20But when you're going double big, you're making yourself even older and slower here.
00:41:26And this is a problem is you have to decide what's more important to you.
00:41:30And I'm, I'm finding this insistence and just stubbornly leaning on double big to be
00:41:36a weird thing that Joe can't get off of right now.
00:41:39I know they're down a guard and they don't really have anybody else.
00:41:43Now you really only had two guards.
00:41:45So I get why you're starting Horford, I guess, but he stayed with it all game long, you know,
00:41:51and Cornette got eaten alive tonight.
00:41:53It was really rough game for him, you know, really rough game.
00:41:57Yeah.
00:41:58No, I'm not going to ignore it.
00:42:00I'm going right into it here.
00:42:01It was really rough, really rough there.
00:42:04And that was without it.
00:42:05So I don't understand why you, why at that point you don't try to get a little bit more
00:42:09athletic and then really at that point, you've only got Walsh.
00:42:12You could throw in there for some energy and see what it gives you.
00:42:15Yeah.
00:42:16And he did a decent job with that.
00:42:19I mean, he did, but you know, it was one of those too little, too late type situations.
00:42:24And, you know, it goes back to just Joe, really having showing the ability to read
00:42:31the room, like give, put the guys in there that can give you what you need.
00:42:35They were lacking energy all game long.
00:42:38And yet until it was pretty much the game was over and out of reach, then you go with
00:42:42the guy that has energy.
00:42:44Yeah.
00:42:45Right.
00:42:46I don't know.
00:42:47This is, this is a good question, Cass.
00:42:48What's funny is while I, I'm not, I'm not like angry.
00:42:52I just rage.
00:42:53Cause it's, it's fun.
00:42:54I'm not really fun, but it's like, it's frustrating and it's frustrating because you, you know,
00:43:00you know, they could, they could, could and should, it's almost insulting to fans who
00:43:09like fine.
00:43:10If you guys want to believe, Oh, they'll just flip the switch.
00:43:12If this is what you want, you want to watch a team care and not care like, and not value
00:43:16your time and, and, and, and money and, you know, and, and all those things that you put
00:43:21into it.
00:43:22And that's good enough for you.
00:43:24Fine.
00:43:25Then you could just check out and tune into the playoffs.
00:43:27And if they do everything great, you can say fine.
00:43:29If you enjoy watching these ups and downs or watching a team go out there and look like
00:43:34they don't really want to play.
00:43:35I don't find that enjoyable.
00:43:36I want to, I want them to play as much as I want to watch the game.
00:43:39I'm excited to watch.
00:43:40I want them to be excited to play.
00:43:42It's not asking a lot.
00:43:43So it's frustrating.
00:43:45But I still believe that it's there.
00:43:47I still believe that they, they have it, but I do.
00:43:52What creeps into me is, is something wrong.
00:43:54We're missing.
00:43:55And I hate, I don't want to plant like conspiracy theories there, but that's what bugs me when
00:44:01we talk about things like body language and this and that, like it, that, that's that
00:44:07like loser stank stays on you.
00:44:09And then you start to like feel things like if you're going out there and you're like,
00:44:13well, why should I try?
00:44:15He's not trying or like Jesus.
00:44:17So, so, so this, so our star chose not to play tonight.
00:44:21That's cool.
00:44:22I guess.
00:44:23Should I do what am I supposed to try hard tonight?
00:44:25Or I didn't get the memo.
00:44:26Should we all be checking out that stuff can be oddly, you know, infectious and like can
00:44:34cause some issues.
00:44:35I don't know if they're feeling that behind the scenes, they might all kind of have a
00:44:38pact.
00:44:39Like, yeah, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll turn it on and maybe, maybe, but how often
00:44:45I don't know, but that's what worries me that there's something we're missing and they're
00:44:47not like connected right now in the same way.
00:44:51Well, the other way to answer this, that question by Kes is based on what we've seen when the
00:44:58season ends, if the Celtics are eliminated from the playoffs before the NBA finals, would
00:45:04you say that we didn't see the signs of this happening or that we did see the signs of
00:45:09this happening?
00:45:10Cause right now I feel like all the signs are there for that happening.
00:45:12I would actually be more surprised if they do go to the NBA finals or if they do win
00:45:17a championship based on the fact, what the hell's going on?
00:45:23You're muted.
00:45:24I don't know what happened.
00:45:25I would be more surprised at this point, based on what I've seen so far, 20, um, 36 and 16.
00:45:31I know that their record overall is great, but if we go back to December, it's, it's
00:45:34completely different numbers that we're looking at here.
00:45:37And based on what I'm seeing right now, I would be more surprised because if they do
00:45:40get eliminated and it's kind of been just kind of like this, a little leading up to
00:45:44whenever they get eliminated, we're going to say, of course they did look at what, look
00:45:48at all the signs this year that we saw when we go back to the Mavericks game or go back
00:45:53to what, you know, keep going back to all these examples of when they just didn't show
00:45:56up or they didn't execute it.
00:45:58They didn't, you know, finish the job down the stretch and we can point to a lot of them
00:46:02last year, John, and this was your big thing.
00:46:06You had nothing to really be upset about or, or, or concerned about or an angry, but you
00:46:11had to manufacture it.
00:46:12Cause they went on like a two game, you know, if they ever, if they ever lost like two games
00:46:16in three out of three, you'd have to like fake some sort of, uh, concern.
00:46:21You don't have to fake it right now.
00:46:23I think everyone is kind of like in the same boat where we're like, okay, we've seen enough
00:46:29of this where you can't just brush it off and just say, Oh, like they probably have
00:46:35like this little, like unsaid agreement that they'll just be good in the playoffs.
00:46:40Like it doesn't work that way.
00:46:42Yeah.
00:46:43Like I said, I, I'm not entirely sure.
00:46:47And I don't know what we're seeing.
00:46:49No one's sure, but if you're going by what you're watching, you really have no reason
00:46:53to believe that they're an NBA finals team other than the fact that they, that they have
00:46:57the same players returning from a championship team and theoretically they should, but based
00:47:03on what we're actually seeing and not what we're envisioning or thinking or what we,
00:47:07what we, you know, want to believe, this is a good question.
00:47:12How many people do you see this from?
00:47:13And again, the thing is when you watch a team every night, you scrutinize them in a totally
00:47:18different way.
00:47:19But like, when you think of the all-time greats, are you thinking like, remember all those
00:47:22years where they didn't try for the whole year and then turned it on late?
00:47:25That was awesome.
00:47:26But like, I know it exists like the Celtics, you know, everyone romanticizes back in the
00:47:32day.
00:47:33But the Celtics were like, I mean, the 80s Celtics were a bunch of drunks.
00:47:38They're big.
00:47:39They're big.
00:47:40Let's get serious.
00:47:41Thing in 86 was let's stop drinking beer for a couple of months and see if we can get serious,
00:47:45you know?
00:47:46And that was like, okay, I guess that sounds crazy, but we'll do it, you know?
00:47:50But like, you know, Larry's going out and punching people in the face and drinking 26
00:47:54Budweiser's a night.
00:47:57But like, I guess every bird, man, it was a different time back then.
00:48:00He's the greatest of all time.
00:48:03I mean, he gets so bored.
00:48:04He goes lefty.
00:48:05So like, you know, I get it.
00:48:06I get it.
00:48:07It's human nature.
00:48:08But the opponents, like everyone's better now.
00:48:11So it's like, you can't feel you can't do that.
00:48:14Yeah.
00:48:15Yeah.
00:48:16You got to show up.
00:48:17You got to show up.
00:48:18You got to, you got to, again, this team town paper is, you know, arguably the most talented
00:48:24team in the NBA.
00:48:25You know, Wednesday Thunder, maybe Cleveland got better today.
00:48:29All teams do it.
00:48:30There's teams to be, there's teams to make a case here, but at the Celtics, as they say,
00:48:35sure.
00:48:36They don't, you don't play on paper.
00:48:37You got to show up when the ball gets tipped.
00:48:40You got to pay for 48, man.
00:48:42These guys, no, nothing's going to be given to them.
00:48:45Don't let, I hope Jelso's not watching.
00:48:47Don't let him see this comment.
00:48:49Delete this, Justin.
00:48:51Don't post it.
00:48:52Take it down.
00:48:53Take it away.
00:48:54Take it away.
00:48:55Take it away.
00:48:58It's amazing.
00:48:59Bob Cousy was able to have such a good career without the use of his left hand.
00:49:03Really incredible.
00:49:04You know, that Cousy was just able to dribble all around with his right hand, way through
00:49:10really impressive stuff.
00:49:13Dribble in circles.
00:49:14Yeah.
00:49:15Yeah.
00:49:16Yeah.
00:49:17Yeah.
00:49:18Yeah.
00:49:19Yeah.
00:49:20Yeah.
00:49:21Really remarkable career.
00:49:22Anyway, we're going to hear from more Celtics.

00:50:25Wembe.
00:50:26Wembe!
00:50:27Wembe!
00:50:28That is close to must see.
00:50:29You know what, Jimmy?
00:50:30Didn't you go to see, didn't you go to see Otani if you thought that was must see?
00:50:33Yeah, I did.
00:50:35Right.
00:50:36But like Otani's must see, Otani's must see.
00:50:39I shelled out big bucks to see Messi when they played, when they played there, Jimmy
00:50:44was at that game too.
00:50:45We got our money's worth when the Rebs played Messi.
00:50:48Yeah.
00:50:50We saw him score twice.
00:50:51That was so sick.
00:50:52Saw him score twice.
00:50:53That was worth it.
00:50:54Jimmy and I took in some of that together.
00:50:55That was a lot of fun.
00:50:57And Wembe, Wembe is worth the price of admission, man.
00:50:59So go check it out.
00:51:00Dude, there are like three or four or five guys in the NBA where you just got to see.
00:51:07And Wembe is a new one, adding him to that list.
00:51:10Curry was one.
00:51:11I think he probably still is.
00:51:12I used to say Embiid was.
00:51:14LeBron was also one.
00:51:15LeBron was one.
00:51:16I loved watching Embiid.
00:51:17LeBron was such a show.
00:51:18LeBron is a show for sure.
00:51:20I mean, there's only a handful, but Wembe, I mean, the good news is, knock on wood, I
00:51:25mean, he's going to be doing this for a long, long time, but like, yeah, he only comes to
00:51:29Boston once a year.
00:51:30So if you can get in.
00:51:31Check it out.
00:51:33Check out the seats here.
00:51:34Game time prices go down as you get closer to it.
00:51:37And right now, it's a tough ticket, man.
00:51:39They're up there, man.
00:51:40I guess we're not the only people thinking.
00:51:42There's still some good seats.
00:51:43So check it out.
00:51:44Game time.
00:51:45Terrific app for this sort of thing.
00:51:46If you want to check it out, all in pricing, panoramic views from your seat, download that
00:51:50app.
00:51:518,700 court side.
00:51:52Look at that.
00:51:53CLNS, $20 off your first purchase terms to apply.
00:51:58Back to it.
00:51:59Back to it.
00:52:00Let's get Noah's not going to watch.
00:52:03Noah won't come on tonight because she knows that blame pie, blame pie.
00:52:07So she's not going to come.
00:52:08Oh, my God.
00:52:09So much blame pie.
00:52:10I mean, I got four pies baking and Bobby's like Bobby's not coming on either because
00:52:15this is the first time Cornette's getting like 50 percent of a pie.
00:52:21He's going to give it all.
00:52:22He's going to give it to Joe.
00:52:23Yeah.
00:52:24Yeah.
00:52:25He will.
00:52:26We should make him go first and see if he gives anything to Luke.
00:52:28Just make some reference to just, you know, the trained eye reference to trigger Bobby.
00:52:35Yeah.
00:52:36He gets so fired up.
00:52:39Are the alarms still going off, John?
00:52:41Do we know they moved them out of there?
00:52:43So we're not in that room anymore.
00:52:45They moved them into the hallway.
00:52:46I wonder if any of these players have even spoken yet.
00:52:49Anything going on on Twitter about to look right now?
00:52:51I don't know.
00:52:52Nobody tells me anything.
00:52:54Oh, I'm just I'm just a lead singer.
00:52:57Speak of the devil.
00:52:59That is Noah.
00:53:03You guys ready for a blame pie?
00:53:04Get the get the pies ready, Jimmy.
00:53:06Pies out of the oven.
00:53:07We don't have any pies, do we?
00:53:09Pies are in the oven.
00:53:10They're hot.
00:53:11Chech.
00:53:21All right, let's see the favorite segment of the show.
00:53:31What's going on?
00:53:32You guys ready for the rain to blame pie?
00:53:33We just sliced up the pies.
00:53:34Here we go.
00:53:35Oh, yes.
00:53:36We were waiting for you, Noah.
00:53:37Perfect timing.
00:53:38All right, we'll do it.
00:53:39All right, Bobby, slice up your pie, buddy.
00:53:48All right, here we go.
00:53:50It's better than everyone getting an intro.
00:53:51What?
00:53:53Did he just disappear?
00:53:54He just took himself.
00:53:55You can't do that.
00:53:56You can't take, you can't.
00:53:58You're sitting down at the table, my friend.
00:54:00It's time to eat some pie.
00:54:01Yeah, but you're going to eat this blue pie, young man.
00:54:03He's just blinking away right now.
00:54:05He doesn't know.
00:54:06He doesn't even know.
00:54:07All right, Noah, whether something you gleaned from listening to them talk in the postgame
00:54:14press conferences or just your observations from the game, what's your overall, you know,
00:54:19top takeaway here?
00:54:21This was a bad one.
00:54:22It's a bad game.
00:54:24As bad as your audio.
00:54:26My audio's bad?
00:54:28Audio's in and out a little bit.
00:54:29Yeah.
00:54:30That was such an ass.
00:54:37What?
00:54:39Okay.
00:54:40Not as bad as your audio.
00:54:42Jerk.
00:54:44All right.
00:54:45Better?
00:54:46Better?
00:54:47That's perfect.
00:54:48Perfect.
00:54:49Go ahead.
00:54:50Absolutely.
00:54:51One day I'll learn on the first try.
00:54:52There is a lot of movement and chaos around here, but luckily no more alarm, which is
00:54:55nice.
00:54:56But honestly, I could barely hear a word of postgame because we were, there was like a
00:54:59hundred of us crowded around Jalen with the siren blaring.
00:55:01So Bobby had a better position than me if he wants to share his takeaway from Jalen.
00:55:05But just from the game itself, like defensive energy wasn't there.
00:55:09They missed a ridiculous amount of easy shots around the rim layups.
00:55:13I don't know that I've ever seen them miss so many layups and concerted, you know, in
00:55:17a limited period of time and totally impacted their effort.
00:55:20And honestly, like that fourth quarter run was fun to watch, but it was also kind of
00:55:23like, damn, this is what it looks like when you're trying your best.
00:55:27And I don't feel like they gave a good effort today.
00:55:30And I honestly can't figure out what's so difficult about coming back from a road trip
00:55:34because it's a, it's a thing.
00:55:35It's a thing we've seen now a million times.
00:55:37It doesn't make sense to me.
00:55:38So much of the psychological stuff.
00:55:40Why'd you say it?
00:55:41I can't believe how many times we heard that tonight.
00:55:44Well, not just tonight.
00:55:45This is every time.
00:55:46This is the last three road trips.
00:55:47They've come back and they've lost.
00:55:48They actually said that.
00:55:49Yeah.
00:55:50I mean, they keep saying all the time.
00:55:52I just, all the psychological stuff.
00:55:54I'm the first person to buy in this one.
00:55:56I don't get, I just don't understand why coming home is gonna is like so hard.
00:56:00I don't know if anybody has thoughts.
00:56:02They stink at home.
00:56:03That might be part of it.
00:56:06No, no.
00:56:07It's another, it's another built in excuse that isn't based on anything real.
00:56:10You know what I mean?
00:56:11Is like, there's nothing, there's nothing to, these are just, there's nothing.
00:56:16There's no reason why, as you said, no logical reason why you'd be worse coming home.
00:56:22That's a good thing.
00:56:24Coming home is good.
00:56:25You would think.
00:56:27The last game of a long road trip makes sense.
00:56:29You're gassed and you can't wait to get home.
00:56:32Coming home and losing is stupid.
00:56:35It doesn't make sense.
00:56:36The other team trying hard is a silly excuse.
00:56:39There's a lot of ones that are kind of baked in right now.
00:56:41I'm going to add this one.
00:56:42I've got a little thing going on here, but no, it doesn't make a lot of sense here.
00:56:47But I asked these guys earlier, I'll ask each of you.
00:56:51Do you feel which, which feeling is greater?
00:56:55The, the, the yuckiness you feel after this or the, the, the good vibes off of Cleveland?
00:57:04Don't all jump at once here.
00:57:05I was going to say, I didn't overreact to the Cleveland game.
00:57:08I didn't think it was like spectacular or anything.
00:57:11So I think the, the three game road trip, like the road trip itself as a whole,
00:57:15coming away with three wins.
00:57:16Probably.
00:57:17I feel a little, a little greater than just this one loss, but one for one,
00:57:20this one's going to count more.
00:57:22But I see someone here that asked me Saturday.
00:57:24I, I tend to agree with that.
00:57:25I think if they can come back and have a good showing against New York, like
00:57:29that's yeah, that's kind of a, that, that, that would kind of neutralize things.
00:57:34Yeah.
00:57:35Cause it's been the story of their season too.
00:57:38And then the next game against Miami, half of Miami's team will probably be out.
00:57:42They'll probably be wet down there.
00:57:44So that's why it's so tough to glean in either direction.
00:57:47Who are they?
00:57:48Cause it's been so sporadic for so long now.
00:57:51And again, they got an extended stretch going there during the road trip.
00:57:55But, you know, first game, New Orleans is missing a bunch of guys.
00:57:58Second game, you're down 26 and you do come back and get credit for that.
00:58:03But, you know, similar issues to start that game.
00:58:05And then the Cleveland one was good, but you know, this is,
00:58:10this is how you answer that.
00:58:11It's, it's tough.
00:58:13It's, it's tough to ride that roller coaster.
00:58:15Brad even said it earlier, right?
00:58:17Noah, that, you know, fans just like them sometimes run the highs
00:58:22and lows of the season.
00:58:23And there's been a lot of them over the last six, seven weeks here.
00:58:26Yeah.
00:58:27I love that Brad presser.
00:58:28He even said under his breath, kind of that their numbers have been in,
00:58:31I think the exact line was buoyed by a few blowout wins.
00:58:35And I was like, damn, okay, Brad.
00:58:37But yeah,
00:58:39I definitely think that it's been an inconsistent up and down thing and the
00:58:43home stuff they have to figure out because that's very 2023.
00:58:45And obviously that came back to bite them in the playoffs when they weren't
00:58:48closing things out at home in the same vein,
00:58:51it's great that they've been great on the road.
00:58:52Like that's also important, but it's just a little bit inexplicable.
00:58:55I don't know if it's an urgency thing or a routine thing or something else,
00:58:58but John, John, we get some sound cued up.
00:59:01You got to play it.
00:59:03Muted, muted.
00:59:06John and the mute button are at war tonight.
00:59:08I'm just doing it.
00:59:09So I don't, so I can, you know, let, you know, let it flow,
00:59:14not jump in there, have everyone have their peace.
00:59:17I also might be chewing on things and drinking stuff and no,
00:59:20I'm making a lot of noise.
00:59:23I forget sometimes senior moments. Anyway, just to warn everybody,
00:59:27there's an alarm going off in the background here, the siren.
00:59:31So if you, if, you know, I don't want you to freak out,
00:59:36but here's Jalen Brown saying something that Bobby finds interesting.
00:59:40Strong, you know, through the break, but defensively,
00:59:43we haven't been as strong as we need to be.
00:59:48A part of that is only as our, you know, our captain,
00:59:51but we just got to be better to close the break and, you know,
00:59:55reassess to start the second half of the season.
00:59:58Jalen, your reaction to the Celtics signing Torrey Craig,
01:00:01and what do you think you can add to the team?
01:00:03This is news to me.
01:00:05We signed Torrey Craig.
01:00:06Correct.
01:00:08It's my first time hearing about her.
01:00:10Obviously the front office is always trying to make some,
01:00:13some moves to make sure that we are putting ourself in a good position.
01:00:18So I trust that.
01:00:20Translation. I don't know that dude.
01:00:25Did he call himself the captain?
01:00:27He is the captain, but he is, he's actually the captain.
01:00:31Yeah, he does the, yeah, he does the ref thing.
01:00:33He does the shaking hands before the game.
01:00:35He does like a couple of things,
01:00:36ceremonial things that he does that he actually is the listed captain.
01:00:40That's news to me.
01:00:41That's more news to me than Torrey Craig to Jalen.
01:00:43I don't know if it's listed on the roster.
01:00:46Let me check the roster.
01:00:48That's legit breaking news.
01:00:50Really?
01:00:51There's never been a quote unquote captain.
01:00:54Really?
01:00:55I just noticed since I started covering the team.
01:00:58I mean, definitely this year, I actually don't remember last year,
01:01:00but this year I noticed he always does the handshake with the ref
01:01:03before the games.
01:01:04He always, he's mentioned it a couple of times when he's complained about
01:01:06calls. He's like, it's my job to turn to the refs.
01:01:08Like I'm part of my responsibility.
01:01:10I don't think he's actually the captain.
01:01:13I think he, I think he might assume those responsibilities,
01:01:16but I don't think it's an action.
01:01:18I don't think it's an actual designation.
01:01:20I think he's speaking in a figurative sense that he has the
01:01:24responsibilities of a captain and, and, and his mind that works.
01:01:28Cause I would have thought they would have made a bigger deal about this.
01:01:32If that was, in fact, I think it's a low key thing.
01:01:35I don't think it's like they wanted to make it as big thing that you own.
01:01:37Well, we're going to, I'm going to make it into a huge thing now.
01:01:40I want to know for a fact if he's a captain. So I want someone to ask.
01:01:43Wait, are you actually the captain?
01:01:46Yeah. I mean, he did say he was the captain.
01:01:49So somebody should ask for some clarification.
01:01:51Yeah. This is completely breaking news to me.
01:01:54Really?
01:01:55Yeah.
01:01:56Have you noticed? I mean, we, we live through.
01:02:00No, but we lived through the captain saga a couple of years ago.
01:02:03They're like, we don't need a captain.
01:02:06We don't need one.
01:02:09That was when Marcus smart was still on the team though.
01:02:11Oh my God.
01:02:12I wasn't in there, but real quick, I,
01:02:15I did find the other part interesting in there.
01:02:17I found the other part of that interesting too,
01:02:20that let's just get to the break.
01:02:22I asked him why he, he thinks that, and he said,
01:02:25I think it's good for our guys.
01:02:27Good for our guys. It's been a long Germany, even last year,
01:02:30even from last year to get a little bit of a mental reset would be good for us.
01:02:34We got to finish strong, run through the finish line tonight,
01:02:37first game off a tough road trip and our energy wasn't there.
01:02:40The Mavs jumped on us to start the game.
01:02:42Nobody's making any excuses.
01:02:44It wasn't as good as we need to be tonight. Defensively.
01:02:47We played a little slow tonight, but we got to keep pushing to the break.
01:02:50So again, the road trip thing, I don't,
01:02:54everyone was talking about it.
01:02:58Like, no, I don't, I don't really get it.
01:03:00I'm glad he's the captain.
01:03:02I'm going to hold him to a different standard now.
01:03:04I'm not, I'm not tripping over this. I just, it's, I'm completely,
01:03:07completely caught off guard.
01:03:08I was just like, what did I hear that right?
01:03:11Yeah.
01:03:12Someone here says that he's actually listed as the captain.
01:03:14Where, where is that?
01:03:16I just looked somewhere where he's not listed, but again, I don't know.
01:03:22Wait, drop a link, whoever. Yeah.
01:03:23They used to put it on the Jersey too.
01:03:26They used to put it on the Jersey.
01:03:27They don't do that. They don't do that.
01:03:29They don't do the decal.
01:03:30No, no.
01:03:31Everyone was talking about All-Star though.
01:03:35Porzingis said the same thing.
01:03:37Porzingis said the same thing in, where were we just now? Cleveland.
01:03:39He said, you know, it's just kind of, it's great that we won four in a row.
01:03:42We're just trying to get to the All-Star break.
01:03:44Like it's definitely been a big, a big theme here.
01:03:48Yeah. But what is that?
01:03:49This is another imaginary thing that doesn't actually do anything.
01:03:52It's just arbitrary, right?
01:03:53Like let's get to March four, you know, like the All-Star break.
01:03:58Like, I know there's a natural reset where like there's some time off,
01:04:01but like,
01:04:02do you think you're just going to be dipped into magic waters and just
01:04:05come back and all of your problems are going to go away?
01:04:07Like it isn't anything other than, well,
01:04:11I hope we come back from that rested and feeling better.
01:04:13And that's where we're really turn it on.
01:04:15And maybe that's their unofficial start to the season.
01:04:17Even Joe alluded to it where like,
01:04:19that's where we're going to kind of turn things on.
01:04:21But like that's last year when they went into cruise control.
01:04:24That's the weird thing.
01:04:25Like post All-Star break.
01:04:27We're like, so nothing matters for two months,
01:04:30but I guess we'll just keep watching now.
01:04:33It's like, well, this is where we're going to get serious.
01:04:37You could start Saturday.
01:04:40Yeah. Or today, yesterday.
01:04:41Or you could start Saturday.
01:04:43Yeah. I just,
01:04:44I really don't even know what to say about this game.
01:04:46Like it's.
01:04:47It was so predictable.
01:04:51Very. Yeah.
01:04:52Noah, you tell us what happened.
01:04:53You tell us why.
01:04:54What do you mean?
01:04:55Why they've played bad.
01:04:56Yeah.
01:04:57I think they let the,
01:04:58I think they let their bad offense lead to bad defense and they've
01:05:01been doing it a lot this year.
01:05:02And.
01:05:03Yeah.
01:05:04I mean,
01:05:05I mean,
01:05:06I mean,
01:05:07I mean,
01:05:08I mean,
01:05:09I mean,

01:10:25I mean,
01:10:26I mean,
01:10:27I mean,
01:10:28I mean,
01:10:29available for nothing here.
01:10:31The biggest concern, obviously, is he's played nine games this year and hasn't played since
01:10:34December 30th, so I don't know if he's even available right now, but you needed some amount
01:10:40of Hauser insurance here, and this isn't that, but it's something.
01:10:46He will play fewer minutes than Jordan Walsh the rest of the way.
01:10:51Careful, John.
01:10:52Jordan Walsh locked down defense in the fourth quarter?
01:10:56We were clamoring for more of it earlier.
01:10:59That's what we said.
01:11:00I was clamoring.
01:11:01Me too.
01:11:02Ask the chat.
01:11:03I clamored.
01:11:04I believe you.
01:11:05I did, because that's what defense looks like.
01:11:09That's the difference.
01:11:10What Jordan Walsh was playing was defense.
01:11:12Are you a Craig guy, Sherrod?
01:11:15No.
01:11:16He's an insurance ball.
01:11:19He's just someone's, he's a warm body at the end of the bench that you can throw out there
01:11:24when you have no choice but to throw someone out there.
01:11:27He's your fifth wing.
01:11:28Pretty much.
01:11:29He's your fifth wing.
01:11:31He's your fourth wing.
01:11:32He can shoot.
01:11:33No, he's not.
01:11:34He's below Jordan Walsh on the depth chart, guaranteed.
01:11:35He can shoot.
01:11:36He can shoot better than Jordan Walsh, so he's already higher than Jordan Walsh.
01:11:39He can.
01:11:40No.
01:11:41Yes, he can.
01:11:42He's 35 for his career.
01:11:43He's like a 40% shooter.
01:11:44He's 40% in the last three seasons.
01:11:46The last couple seasons, yes, but his overall, he's a 35, but yes, last couple years, he's
01:11:50closer to 40.
01:11:51Trending up.
01:11:52He gets older.
01:11:53You just, you hang back at the three-point line and that's what you do.
01:11:57You age a little bit.
01:11:58I'm just going to hang back here and shoot a little bit.
01:12:01That's cool.
01:12:02We get it.
01:12:03I think probably a big part, based just on, based on Brad's pregame, I think a big part
01:12:06of whoever they were going to sign was just making sure that they weren't going to be
01:12:09like a locker room issue that they weren't doing.
01:12:11This is not what I want.
01:12:12Not what I want.
01:12:13Sorry.
01:12:14Didn't mean to go full on me.
01:12:17Go ahead, Noah.
01:12:18Sorry.
01:12:19I was like, what's the bid?
01:12:20I don't get it.
01:12:21I accidentally pressed the wrong button.
01:12:23So yeah, I think, like, I'm sure that they, you know, I asked Brad today, like about whether
01:12:28like, they feel like they need a new voice, a new personality in the locker room.
01:12:31And he said like, that can be also risky.
01:12:33So like, we want to make sure that somebody that is kind of okay not playing was the impression
01:12:36I took away from it.
01:12:37So they must have had some conversations with him and I'm sure his expectation is really
01:12:42not to be at all part of this rotation, given the fact he literally wasn't on the league
01:12:45as of yesterday.
01:12:46It's kind of like winning the lottery, honestly, getting, being one of the buyout guys and
01:12:49getting to go to the Celtics right now, because your odds are not high with how many guys
01:12:54are available.
01:12:55So I like the fact that he has 75 games of playoff experience, he can shoot.
01:12:59And he's a veteran, because I feel like I'd rather that than another one of these young
01:13:02guys that has like a trajectory to develop that's probably not going to play this year.
01:13:06So it was fun.
01:13:07It was good.
01:13:08It was a good distraction for this game to read up a little on Torrey Craig during the
01:13:10game while they were getting crushed.
01:13:12So yeah, he could be a good insurance, but again, health permitting, I don't know how
01:13:22healthy is.
01:13:23And you're not going to need him to be, you know, the best shape because you're not going
01:13:28to play him that much.
01:13:29I mean, something if he's out there for like 15 minutes, something went really wrong in
01:13:35that game, or it went amazingly awesome.
01:13:39Yeah, or it's just completely out of hand, and you're up by 40 or 50 points, you just
01:13:43want to make sure your main guys don't get hurt.
01:13:45Why did, why did Hauser, why did it take so long for Hauser to get in the game?
01:13:50I feel like he didn't get into his normal rotation.
01:13:52Are they, is he still hurting?
01:13:54Are they being cautious with them?
01:13:55Limiting his minutes?
01:13:56He didn't play as much the other night as well.
01:13:58Something's off there, right?
01:13:59He had the ice pack on his back, right?
01:14:01Had the ice pack on him?
01:14:02I can't imagine him limiting his minutes if he played the other time.
01:14:04He did not come in in that first substitution, which he has been there with Pritchard and,
01:14:11you know, coming in, and Al.
01:14:14Didn't happen.
01:14:15I'm wondering, did that have something to do with the fact that-
01:14:17Which is even weirder, considering they were down a man.
01:14:20But anyways, go ahead.
01:14:21Yeah, sorry.
01:14:22No, I was just going to say, I'm wondering if that had something to do with the fact
01:14:25that Klay Thompson was so ridiculously hot, and they would rather have a better defender
01:14:31out there than him.
01:14:33Which makes me think about Jaden Springer, who probably would have been the one they
01:14:38would have thrown in there.
01:14:39It's okay.
01:14:40No, I'm sorry.
01:14:41It's still-
01:14:42It would have been a Jaden Springer moment.
01:14:43It would have absolutely been a Jaden Springer moment, and we got robbed of it because of
01:14:47luxury.
01:14:48I was feeling that too.
01:14:49We've been robbed!
01:14:50Where are my rings?
01:14:52We can get Jaden Springer on the podcast.
01:14:54He's got some time.
01:14:56Now you'll get a Torrey Craig moment, Noah.
01:14:59I don't want a Torrey Craig moment.
01:15:02I will say, though, I do feel like Sam Hazzard was getting cooked by Klay, and I don't know
01:15:07that it was Sam Hazzard's fault, because Klay's obviously- he's a great scorer when he gets
01:15:10in that zone.
01:15:11But I was kind of like- I always like Sam checking into the game, but I was sitting
01:15:14up there being like, just take him out, because this is really painful, and put somebody on
01:15:18him that's going to harass him.
01:15:19And Pritchard did a little bit of a better job, but once he's hot, it's like a little
01:15:22bit too late at that point.
01:15:25That's probably what- I was really hoping that they would sub him out, so if his minutes
01:15:30ended up being lower in the first half, I think we were all probably on the same page.
01:15:33Just Klay was really taking it to him.
01:15:35Yeah.
01:15:36It was bad.
01:15:37It was bad.
01:15:38That was OG Klay.
01:15:39Yeah.
01:15:40He lit them up.
01:15:418 out of 10 in 8 minutes.
01:15:46Yeah.
01:15:47He was something.
01:15:48Also, you know, for those out there, Kyrie Irving, again, I know Jimmy loves this, predictably
01:15:55got booed again every time he touched the ball.
01:15:57I find it so boring and tired.
01:16:01As boring and tired as I find it when Tatum and Browne dap him up after the game and like,
01:16:06look at him all starry-eyed, you know, even though he tried to ruin their careers and
01:16:10get them traded.
01:16:11Even though he tried to trade Jalen.
01:16:12Yeah.
01:16:13Tried to trade Jalen.
01:16:14But-
01:16:15Which he confirmed, like, again, two days ago.
01:16:17But here's Kyrie after the game, I'm sure taking credit for the Jays' success or something.
01:16:22And to be honest with you, I was just trying to keep it as another game, but I'd be lying
01:16:27to you guys if I say I'm not aware of a record I have in this building since 2020 or 2021.
01:16:34You know, it's more of a motivation factor for me than anything now, you know, because
01:16:38they're the best of the best.
01:16:39They are champions in our league until another champion is crowned.
01:16:42And you know, you want to play your absolute best against them, and they're going to do
01:16:46everything in their power to stop me.
01:16:48And you know-
01:16:49You gave him his best shot.
01:16:50I've said it in the past.
01:16:52You know, I feel like they feel, and we both feel like they know my game well enough, you
01:16:55know, sending a lot of double teams at me, a lot of different reads that they forced
01:17:00me in.
01:17:01But it only makes me better.
01:17:02And I'm just grateful, man.
01:17:03This is what competitive basketball is about, competitive sports, is just continuing to
01:17:06get better and going against the best of the best and coming out with the W, doing whatever
01:17:10it takes to win.
01:17:11Something, something, journey, something.
01:17:14Yeah.
01:17:15But yeah, there's Kyrie.
01:17:16He did it.
01:17:17The young guy.
01:17:18He won.
01:17:19He hadn't done it in a while.
01:17:20Yeah.
01:17:21Regrets, I guess.
01:17:22But we're still going to boo your ass every time you come here.
01:17:28I don't care about the booing.
01:17:30Jimmy loves it.
01:17:31Jimmy wants blood.
01:17:32Jimmy loves it.
01:17:33It's just funny.
01:17:34It's just, it's fun.
01:17:35It's fun.
01:17:36It's one thing about being a fan, man.
01:17:37I don't think people feel it.
01:17:38You're not a fan.
01:17:39No, it's-
01:17:40I think he feels it.
01:17:41He does.
01:17:42Of course he does.
01:17:43He barely can ever frigging win here.
01:17:44It's called having, sorry, hey, once in a while you get a little bit home court advantage.
01:17:49I know it doesn't feel like it because the Celtics lose in Boston every chance they get.
01:17:53But if you can get an edge somehow and get an opposing player's head, why wouldn't you?
01:17:58That's the whole frigging point.
01:17:59Why are we making-
01:18:00You're not wrong.
01:18:01Why are we care about home court advantage if you got to sit on your hands for 48 minutes?
01:18:06You're not wrong.
01:18:07I mean, come on.
01:18:08Everyone needs to lighten up a bit.
01:18:10Yeah.
01:18:11Bobby.
01:18:12Bobby hates it too.
01:18:14I don't hate it.
01:18:15I just think it's forced.
01:18:16But as Noah said-
01:18:17I just think it's over.
01:18:19Yeah.
01:18:20It's so over.
01:18:21I don't believe people actually still feel it, like this visceral reaction.
01:18:23I think it's out of habit.
01:18:25But you're right.
01:18:26And Noah said it too.
01:18:29It clearly bothers him.
01:18:31I don't mind the booing when the crowd is a good crowd.
01:18:34Like tonight, they were cheering loud.
01:18:36They were invested when they were down by 15.
01:18:38And they were booing.
01:18:39So it's like, you did the whole thing.
01:18:40But sometimes I feel like there's not a great crowd in here.
01:18:43And the only thing they're focusing on is just booing Kyrie and barely even engaged
01:18:47in the game otherwise.
01:18:49So it kind of annoys me.
01:18:50But I felt like this was one of the best home crowds of the season.
01:18:52So sorry to them.
01:18:53They did a lot of booing tonight because they booed their own team on the way out.
01:18:58At least they had something to have fun tonight doing, John.
01:19:01There really wasn't much to cheer for.
01:19:04That's for sure.
01:19:05So I'm fine with it.
01:19:07I mean, keep it in line.
01:19:08I'm not saying be disrespectful.
01:19:10But hey, if you can boo a guy every time he touches the ball, do it.
01:19:15Why not?
01:19:16They should boo more opposing players.
01:19:19Breaking news.
01:19:20Judah just got run into by somebody.
01:19:25Some dummy backed into his plow.
01:19:27That's not great.
01:19:28Sorry.
01:19:29Your bumper is stuck on.
01:19:30Bobby, if you leave like that, you got to tell me because I got to do this.
01:19:34I can't just leave holes in my show.
01:19:37This guy thinks he can do anything.
01:19:39It's just big holes there.
01:19:42What else do we have?
01:19:43I'm leaving, John.
01:19:44I'm leaving.
01:19:45I'm going to get stuck out of my spot.
01:19:46I'm giving you a head.
01:19:47Oh, my God.
01:19:48Oh, my God.
01:19:49Oh, my God.
01:19:50I haven't set up broken up yet.
01:19:51Wait, you're leaving.
01:19:52I can come back, but I have to reload.
01:19:53No, no, it's OK.
01:19:54We'll wrap it up.
01:19:55We got to play this before we go.
01:19:56I want to play this.
01:19:57I wanted it for Noah before we left.
01:19:58That's Jackson.
01:19:59She definitely saw it, but she she had to get up and Brown is in the building breaking
01:20:23breaking news with a question mark.
01:20:25I love to see it.
01:20:26Jalen Brown is captain.
01:20:27Let's play that one more time.
01:20:28That was some a plus editing.
01:20:29Let's see this one more time.
01:20:30Hey, it's breaking news only to us.
01:20:31Who knew the rest of the world knew about this?
01:20:53But us, John and Sharon.
01:20:54Apparently, Louise came in here.
01:20:56She's like, oh, yeah, he's the captain.
01:20:57and I guess we didn't know.
01:20:59Yeah, he's the captain.
01:21:00It's all good.
01:21:01The captain was drafted last tonight.
01:21:04Oh, that was a tough one.
01:21:06In the all-star game draft on TNT.
01:21:10He's Mr. Irrelevant, wow.
01:21:12And by the way, there were three teams in this one.
01:21:16So I feel like it's even harder to get drafted last
01:21:20when there's three teams going around.
01:21:21Jimmy's having some kickball PTSD right now
01:21:24speaking of this.
01:21:25I'm off the hot seat.
01:21:26I'm off the hot seat now.
01:21:28Being picked last in homeschool is really traumatic.
01:21:32It's great kickball, never get down, never get over it.
01:21:35Last on the homeschool team is really tough.
01:21:38They picked my brother before me.
01:21:40Oh man, yeah, that was a tough one too.
01:21:48Speaking of indignities, there may be none greater.
01:21:53There may be none greater than Marcus Smart
01:21:55being sent to the Wizards.
01:21:59They don't even need winning basketball in Washington.
01:22:03Like winning plays, Marcus.
01:22:06Right, why would you need winning plays?
01:22:08Yeah, that's the opposite of what they're looking for.
01:22:12Yeah, that's tough.
01:22:13I can't imagine he's gonna be on that team long.
01:22:16No, and just to clarify,
01:22:18because a lot of people on Twitter don't have it right.
01:22:20The Celtics were like, if they buy him out,
01:22:22that's who we wanna get, you can't.
01:22:24Anybody who makes more than the mid-level
01:22:26prior to being bought out
01:22:27cannot be brought in by the Celtics.
01:22:28That still leaves, the Celtics still do have a 15th spot
01:22:32should they choose to use it.
01:22:35But we will see it.
01:22:35What about Tice?
01:22:37Tice is a possibility.
01:22:38Tice is floating around.
01:22:40I feel like it's destiny that Tice ends up
01:22:42back on this team.
01:22:43I always felt like there was just some,
01:22:46there was unfinished, there was an unfinished,
01:22:49like, chemistry that needed to be.
01:22:53Yeah.
01:22:53They need to get back together.
01:22:54We'll see.
01:22:55I feel like Celtics fans love Tice.
01:22:57I could see Brissette too,
01:22:58cause you need an energy guy.
01:22:59I wouldn't be stunned.
01:23:01Brissette.
01:23:02At this point, but we'll see.
01:23:04That's Bobby's music.
01:23:06Yeah.
01:23:07I mean, we didn't even get to talk Luke tonight.
01:23:10Is Bobby coming back?
01:23:11Nah, we're done.
01:23:12We've done enough.
01:23:13We've done enough.
01:23:14We'll have to do it again.
01:23:15We've done enough.
01:23:16We learned something too.
01:23:18We'll skip Blame Pie tonight.
01:23:19We'll do it.
01:23:20We'll do it the next loss.
01:23:21No.
01:23:22Yeah.
01:23:23I imagine there will be this rate.
01:23:24Bobby and Noah are off to New York.
01:23:26We'll have another show as always,
01:23:28because that's what we do.
01:23:29We do not quit.
01:23:30We are here for you.
01:23:32So please tune in again.
01:23:35We'll be back on Saturday
01:23:36when they take on the Knicks once again.

01:24:02Celtics lose to an understaffed,
01:24:05undermanned Dallas Mavericks team
01:24:07without Derek Lively, Caleb Martin,
01:24:09and Anthony Davis recently acquired.
01:24:12They go down 127-120.
01:24:13It was not that close.
01:24:15This was a tough game.
01:24:17Not close at all.
01:24:18We will be back on Saturday.
01:24:20My voice is toast.
01:24:21This was all I could do.
01:24:22The trade deadline showed up.
01:24:23All right, guys.
01:24:24We'll see you guys later.
01:24:25No one's sneaking a vegan brownie by me,
01:24:27I'll tell you that.
01:24:28Okay, you know what, Don?
01:24:29I'm going to do it.
01:24:30You have to feel that way too, Bobby.
01:24:31I have to feel that way?
01:24:32Let's fly it out over and make Luke your first center.
01:24:36Bobby, we gave you Luke hour earlier.
01:24:38We are not going to end this
01:24:39on a damn conversation about Luke.
