00:00 There's one player Miami's been waiting on.
00:02 And Mario Cristobal on national television this week.
00:06 So the ACC is holding their spring meetings, Amelia Island, Florida.
00:11 They just wrapped up.
00:12 Mario Cristobal this week went on ACC PM on ACC network their afternoon show.
00:18 And he was talking about the additions Miami's made to the line of scrimmage.
00:23 How the hurricanes build from the inside out, right?
00:27 They should have arguably the best offensive line in the ACC,
00:31 one of the better O lines in the country.
00:33 Miami's defensive line also looks like it can be in some special conversations this
00:37 year, and Mario Cristobal said this, we're still in the hunt.
00:41 We need more help in the defensive line position.
00:44 Portal season is never over.
00:46 So we're always at work.
00:48 Hopefully, Cristobal said, we'll be able to solidify that in a couple of days or so.
00:54 Now, folks, when I watched that interview, and there was some other good stuff that
00:58 Cristobal said that we're gonna talk about.
01:01 But when I'm watching that interview, and I hear him talking about, hey,
01:04 hopefully we'll be able to solidify that talking about the defensive line in a
01:08 couple of days or so.
01:09 I didn't expect him that openly to drop a hint about another player that Miami
01:15 is pursuing, and I believe that player, and also if you've noticed,
01:20 you've seen some clues that were dropping last night.
01:24 Dennis Smith, D-Train, who's outside of Elon Musk,
01:28 the most powerful man on the X app, tweeted out a scary looking creature.
01:34 Again, you try to figure out what D-Train's tweets mean.
01:37 It's like a abstract art, you don't always know.
01:40 Coach Cooney dropped something that looked like a clue for last night.
01:44 So maybe Miami is expecting some news soon from former Tennessee volunteers,
01:49 defensive end Tyler Barron.
01:51 That seems to be, if you read between the lines again, you're talking about another
01:55 move potentially being made on the defensive line, solidifying that spot.
01:59 Based on everything Miami has already done in the portal,
02:04 the players that they've landed versus the players that they've missed out on
02:07 at defensive line, as far as I can tell, and you guys know I cover Miami pretty
02:12 closely, as far as I can tell, the only remaining player,
02:16 especially on the defensive line that the Miami Hurricanes are still in the mix for
02:21 is defensive end Tyler Barron, who in winter transferred from Tennessee to Louisville.
02:27 He's leaving Louisville,
02:28 he's back in the transfer portal without playing a snap there.
02:31 And the finalists for Barron, I think it might be down to two,
02:36 although technically maybe there's still three in the mix.
02:39 But USC, Miami, and maybe Ole Miss, although I've heard some things over
02:44 the last few days that the Rebels may no longer really be in it for Barron.
02:47 And it may be USC versus Miami.
02:51 And guys, again, I think Miami's defensive line is already,
02:55 as Larry David would say, pretty good, even if they don't make this addition.
03:00 But this is definitely a player, you add him if you can in Barron.
03:06 Senior, so he's already got that experience.
03:09 He's looking for one more final really good year before he can go to the NFL
03:14 draft next year, final year of eligibility, 6'5", 260 pounds.
03:19 So he's already got that prototypical body type to dominate on the edge.
03:23 Tyler Barron has over 100 now career tackles.
03:28 Last season at Tennessee had a career high five sacks,
03:31 had ten and a half tackles for loss.
03:34 Had he been on Miami doing that, he would have been behind only, I believe,
03:38 Kiko Maui-Noah, who had 18 TFL.
03:40 Ruben Bain, who had 12 and a half TFL last year.
03:43 And Barron, of course, played a tougher schedule than Miami did being at
03:46 Tennessee, put up really good numbers.
03:48 Going through some of his NFL scouting profiles, cuz again,
03:52 Barron is gonna be wherever he ends up, whether it's Miami or USC or Ole Miss.
03:57 He's gonna be an NFL draft prospect a year from now.
03:59 And on his NFL scouting reports, one NFL scout said about Tyler Barron that he
04:04 already has NFL caliber spin moves at this point in his career.
04:07 And he has a verified 4.640 yard dash, which is, God,
04:11 if you can get that kind of speed coming off the edge,
04:14 you could do a lot worse than that.
