Should councils focus on making cycle lanes safer for people in the city?
Transcript
00:00Well, I pity any cyclists in Newport, because they're staking the roads, the potholes,
00:04taking life into their own hands, I think, driving on the roads you accounts for don't
00:08have maintained over the years.
00:10I haven't really seen that many cyclists in Newport, interestingly, and not a lot of
00:14cycle lanes either. I don't know if that's because I tend to avoid the sort of city centre,
00:19but I mean, I compare it immediately to Cardiff and I feel like it's a lot more accessible
00:24for cyclists in Cardiff versus Newport.
00:27I do worry about cyclists. I'm a driver myself. I think there could be better lanes. I'm from
00:32London originally, so I've seen how the changes have come across the UK.
00:38There are a lot of cycle lanes. They're not very well monitored. There's some shady spots.
00:47So yes, why not have separate lanes for cyclists? In respect, in return, I think respect from
00:56the cyclists would be nice too.
