An inquest into the death of 40 year old Joanne Penney has found she died of her wounds after she was shot in the chest. Six people in total have been charged in connection with her death, including five for murder.

00:00A woman shot dead in South Wales died from a gunshot wound to the chest, an inquest has
00:06heard.
00:0740-year-old Joanne Penny was found unresponsive in Llys Eistedd in Talbot Green on March 9th.
00:12Emergency services arrived to find her with serious injuries, but despite their efforts
00:16she was pronounced dead at the scene.
00:18At the opening of an inquest in Pontypridd, a post-mortem examination confirmed she had
00:23suffered a fatal wound to the heart and left lung.
00:27Military coroner Graham Hughes has said that he has suspended the inquest pending further
00:30police investigation, adding that he has sufficient reason to suspect that Ms Penny's death was
00:36due to violence, but will suspend the investigation pending the conclusion of criminal proceedings.
00:42Six people have been arrested in connection with the shooting, with five of which charged
00:46with murder, and are further charged with assisting an offender.
00:50The six accused includes two men from the South Wales area, and two men and two women
00:55from the Leicestershire area.
00:57South Wales police had been appealing for information about two cars which the four
01:01say travelled from the Midlands on the day of Ms Penny's death.
01:05A trial date has been set for October 20th, with proceedings expected to last up to two
01:09months.
01:10The shooting happened in a quiet residential area close to a busy retail park.
01:15Neighbours reported hearing a gunshot on the evening of March 9th, and have since described
01:19their shock at what has happened.
01:21Some have left floral tributes at the scene, while police have maintained a presence in
01:25the area as investigations continue.
01:28In a tribute, Ms Penny's family said they were devastated by her loss, describing her
01:33as a loving daughter, mother, sister and niece.
01:35They said her kindness, strength and love for her family would never be forgotten, and
01:39have asked for privacy during this difficult period.
