00:00 Hi there. Following a warm and sunny weekend for many of us, a thundery breakdown in some
00:06 places later on Sunday has led to a change in conditions for many of us this week. Now,
00:14 higher pressure has been prevalent over the last few days but that is now moving into
00:18 eastern parts of Europe. Lower pressure returns on Monday and it's going to become very slow
00:25 moving because the jet stream is very loopy at the moment, weak and wriggly, which is
00:32 typical at this time of year. We often have a weak jet stream with these very elongated
00:38 loops in it and what's going to happen this week is that this low arrives, driven in by
00:44 the jet stream, then gets caught up in this extending loop and just lingers throughout
00:49 much of the week. It turns more showery after some initial heavy and persistent rain on
00:54 Monday afternoon and it's Northern Ireland, Wales and the South West where we'll see the
00:58 wettest weather during the rest of Monday, clearing up a little for parts of Cornwall
01:03 by the end of the day. But nevertheless, it's breezy, it's cloudy and it's wet and as a
01:07 result it's not going to feel nearly as pleasant as it felt over the weekend with temperatures
01:12 in some parts of western and south-western UK at 10 degrees lower. We keep the fine and
01:19 bright weather towards the east, some warm sunshine there for eastern England into south-east
01:24 Scotland, lifting temperatures into the low 20s, perhaps even 24 or 25 Celsius once again,
01:30 but this will be much more localised and there will be a cool feel for the east of Scotland
01:35 there and the north-east, although it does stay largely dry and bright. Some showers
01:40 for north-west Scotland before the main area of rain moves in and this rain does progress
01:44 its way eastwards during Monday evening. It tends to become a bit more fragmented, not
01:50 quite as heavy and persistent, but it's going to be a damp night across western Scotland
01:55 into southern Scotland, central and eventually eastern parts of England. Further west and
02:00 south-west, some clear spells break through, but further showers come along for the south-west
02:05 of England along with a gusty breeze. Now the rain as we go through Monday and into
02:11 Tuesday could cause some issues across south-western parts, south Wales, south-west England seeing
02:16 the most with 25mm widely and up to 50 or 60mm on Dartmoor for example. But by the end
02:24 of the night on Monday night it's showers rather than longer spells of rain and most
02:29 places will see temperatures of around 13 to 15 Celsius by dawn, but some cooler spots
02:35 in the west where we do get some clear spells. Into Tuesday morning we've got the rain moving
02:40 into eastern parts of England, much of Scotland as well seeing those outbreaks of rain. Adele
02:45 and damp day certainly a marked contrast compared with the bright conditions of the last few
02:51 days. But we keep some sunny spells in the far north-east of Scotland, that's likely
02:55 to be where the highest temperatures are going to be. So the north coast of the mainland
02:59 there up to 20 or 22 Celsius. Further west and south-west we're back to the mid to high
03:05 teens and there'll be some heavy showers around for Northern Ireland, Wales and the south-west,
03:11 perhaps even the odd rumble of thunder in the far south-west. Gusty winds here, but
03:14 in between the showers some brighter spells coming through as well, so it's not going
03:18 to be quite as cloudy or as persistently wet as Monday. Into Tuesday night we're going
03:25 to see the rain in the east and north-east fizzle away. Elsewhere clear spells and showers,
03:31 many places seeing drier weather to end the day though. And we go into Wednesday, Thursday
03:37 and Friday with further showers at times, but also some brighter weather in between.
