00:00 Hello, welcome to your National Evening Weather Update from the Met Office.
00:04 Thunderstorms generally easing but turning more unsettled from the west with longer spells
00:09 of rain. This is all to do with higher pressure moving its way eastwards, allowing lower pressure
00:14 to come in from the Atlantic to bring heavy and persistent rain for some on Monday.
00:20 But back to this evening, we've still got some heavy thundery showers around. They're
00:24 generally going to be moving their way northwards, affecting north-eastern parts of England and
00:28 then into Scotland later. Elsewhere, turning drier, we'll see some clearer skies developing
00:34 across eastern parts. Still the chance of seeing the northern lights but there is a
00:38 lot of cloud around. Best chance of viewing is probably going to be in the north. A lot
00:43 of cloud, low cloud across the south and western parts as well, with a lot of cloud still around
00:49 and warm temperatures. It is going to be another mild night with temperatures really around
00:54 11 or 12 degrees. So mild start to Monday, bit of cloud around, that low cloud across
01:01 the Midlands and East Anglia should generally break up through the day, allowing plenty
01:05 of sunshine to develop once again. We'll see some showers breaking out across parts of
01:10 Scotland but we have got heavy and persistent rain coming in from the west and we do have
01:16 some weather warnings in force for this. These are yellow rain warnings, so expect some difficult
01:21 driving conditions, some spray on the road, we have got some brisk winds as well coming
01:25 up from the south. But like I said, some brighter skies further the east you go, it will still
01:31 be feeling warm here, perhaps not as warm as what we have seen over the weekend. But
01:35 across western parts, underneath all this cloud and rain, temperatures struggling here
01:40 at around 15 or 16 degrees. So through Monday evening, that cloud and rain is going to continue
01:48 to push its way slowly north and eastwards, so could be some difficult driving conditions
01:52 at rush hour, moving further into south eastern parts and then gradually pushing its way northwards.
01:59 Behind that we'll see some clear spells but also some blustery showers coming in to south
02:03 western parts. But there is a lot of cloud around once again, so it's going to be another
02:09 mild night, especially underneath this cloud and rain with temperatures holding up here
02:14 at around 13 or 14 degrees. So a bit of a contrast on Tuesday, it's going to be a damper
02:20 start across much of northern England, even into east Anglia and south east. But behind
02:25 that we should see some brighter skies developing, sunny spells, but also quite frequent scattered
02:31 showers and some of these still could be on the heavy side. So temperatures not as warm
02:36 again as what we've seen over the weekend, but still feeling pleasant where you do see
02:40 the sunshine with highs of maybe 18 or even 20 degrees. So a changeable week is in store,
02:48 but if you want more details on that, be sure to check out our YouTube channel so you don't
02:53 miss a forecast and I'll catch you soon. Bye bye.
