00:00 Hello, good afternoon. Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03 After a bit of a foggy start for some of us, it will turn much brighter for the rest of the afternoon.
00:08 It's going to feel fairly warm in the sunshine, but you can see in the satellite picture from this morning,
00:12 there was a bit of cloud around this morning. That's slowly starting to clear and we have got some brighter spells developing.
00:18 But there is some rain across the far northwest. That's an approaching weather front.
00:22 That will bring some rain to parts of the Western Isles, the parts of the Highlands as well later on this afternoon.
00:26 It will turn heavier through this evening. Elsewhere, though, it should be a dry and fairly bright afternoon.
00:32 The best of the sunshine is going to be in the south and east.
00:34 Central areas of England could see highs of 22 degrees, possibly 23.
00:39 I think in many areas it will feel fairly warm in the sunshine.
00:42 However, if you're under that thicker cloud and rain in the northwest,
00:45 or you do get caught in any fog across the coastal areas, across the southwest, possibly North Sea coast as well,
00:51 it will feel a little bit cooler here than elsewhere. So inland areas are likely to stay the warmest through the rest of the week as well.
00:59 This evening, that rain will turn a bit more persistent and will spread into more widely across Scotland.
01:04 We could see some drizzly rain across northern areas of England as well,
01:08 but I think rain will be fairly isolated anywhere further south than Scotland.
01:12 So it should be a fairly dry night. Some mist and fog could develop once again, mainly across coastal areas.
01:17 We won't see quite as much as we saw this morning by tomorrow morning, and it's going to be another mild start to the day.
01:23 Temperatures quite widely in cities towards the mid teens or low teens, but really still in clearer skies.
01:30 But across parts of Wales, we could still see lows of three or four degrees.
01:34 So really, it could still be a bit of a chilly start.
01:36 But I think most of us will get off to quite a mild, bright and dry start to the day.
01:41 And Thursday is going to be a warmer day than today for most areas far away from the far northwest.
01:47 More in the way of sunshine, it could turn a little bit hazier, particularly across parts of Northern Ireland,
01:52 Northern England, where you're closer to that weather front.
01:54 That weather front will slowly edge ever northward, so it will brighten up even across western areas of Scotland into the afternoon.
02:01 With more in the way of sunshine, it's going to be a warmer day.
02:04 Highs of 23, 24 degrees possibly across central areas of England, eastern areas of Wales,
02:10 and widely temperatures climbing towards the high teens for many areas.
02:14 So a fairly warm couple of days.
02:17 It's going to be staying warm as well through Friday and into Saturday when the heat is likely to peak.
02:22 High pressure is still in charge.
02:24 We start to pick up more of a southerly wind as well for Saturday, and that's going to peak the temperatures around 25 or 26 degrees.
02:31 The UV levels will be rising to high.
02:33 Make sure you're ready for that
02:34 and you've got sun cream at the ready.
02:36 Have a great day.
